The Grid 3: Catharsis is the final part of The Grid Trilogy.
Hi, I'm Paul Teague, the author of The Secret Bunker Trilogy, The Grid Trilogy and the standalone novel, Deleted.
I'm a former broadcaster and journalist with the BBC, but I have also worked as a primary school teacher, a disc jockey, a shopkeeper, a waiter and a sales rep.
If you love stories like The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, Divergent, Running Man and The Giver then you’ll enjoy my sci-fi and dystopian stories.
The Secret Bunker Trilogy was inspired by a family visit to a remarkable, real-life secret bunker at Troywood, Fife, known as ‘Scotland’s Secret Bunker’.
It paints a picture of a planet in crisis and is a fast-paced story with lots of twists and turns, all told through the voice of Dan Tracy who stumbles into an amazing and haradous adventure.
The Grid Trilogy takes place in a future world where everything has gone to ruin.
Joe Parsons must fight for survival in the gamified Grid, from which no person has ever escpaed with their life.
The standalone novel Deleted bridges the worlds of The Secret Bunker and The Grid, revealing what happens between Regeneration and Fall of Justice.
It depicts the world as we know it falling under a dark and sinister force - things will never be the same again.
I love dystopian fiction so writing these books has been a great opportunity to finally come up with my own vision of a future world where things are going haywire.
In the second book of the Grid trilogy “Quest for Vengeance” Zach Fuller has been killed, Joe Parsons, Lucy Slater and the other Justice Seekers are surrounded by fire in the first Mode of the Gridders’ game. As death stalks those condemned to the grid, Talya Slater struggles to help her daughter and Joe survive the ordeal; the head of Fortrillium, Damien Hunter yearning to free his family plots against the President; and startling revelations about President Josh Delman’s history and his conspiracy to keep the City ignorant are revealed.
Set in “The City” after a global plague devastated the world the populace is unaware of anything outside its boundary. With new information about the President and Damien Hunter’s past a mystery is spawn with clues in “the Pact” to a “Catharsis”, and “The Centurial” when Josh Delman plans to evacuate.
Fast-paced the action escalates in this plot with the terrifying dangers in the trials that Joe and the Justice Seekers face in the grid, Lucy’s confrontation with a serial killer and Wiz's narrow escape on a tower in "the Climb". Intensity and suspense heat up in subplots with Mitchell Crenshaw’s treachery, Talya Slater’s struggle to save her daughter and Wiz’s connection to a radical unit of the Centuria. With twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, the plot progresses quickly and smoothly to an ending that promises an exciting third book.
Paul Teague brings the story to life with a host of compelling and complex characters like the cautious and diplomatic Talya Slater; the brilliant resourceful hacker Wiz (aka Shen Li); the vain, egotistical Mitchell Crenshaw; and the tough and treacherous Teanna Schaelles. These and others infuse the plot with excitement and spell-binding tension.
I liked “Grid 2: Quest for Vengeance” and look forward to the third book in this captivating trilogy.
One of two punctuation issues; zero objects beginning sentences (unlike first book with many annoying subject v. object errors, which annoyed but did NOT detract from exiting story line), or other editing issues found in first book. Different editor? Better editor for sure!!
So the story continues to rivet my attention. First two books end at perfect place, forcing and compelling and flat out making me WANT, NEED, DESIRE more of my devotion to the far stronger rebellion being revealed. More than ever: read and PRAY one never encounters THE GRID! There are real true-life connections portrayed by Teague, and I may well explore his other books. **Please note the rarity I give books five-star reviews. This second of trilogy keeps suspense hanging nicely!** Simply cannot WAIT to learn conclusion from all revealed to this point. Well written, much better than first grammatically, but even annoying errors are dismissed since no distraction from enticing story. Well done, Mr. Teague!! Love what I've read, and will now turn attention to book III-- your books may well have created a new book devouring and driven reader. Not a thing many authors can claim from this Wordgirl!! Word up!!!!
I have a boxset by this author and this story is part of it.
Part two of The Grid continues from part one, where those caught inside 'the grid' must fight for their lives...but nothing is straightforward and a deeper mystery is yet to be revealed.
I liked the multiple-character points of view, as each plays their part bringing together the whole story.
Although the plot is believable and the characters are well drawn, with good twists and turns, the tension in the story often drops because the author prefers to tell the reader what's happening or what the characters are feeling instead of showing it.
A lot more action and more insight into characters. Slowly learning more about the past. The scenes in the grid were gruesome but action packed. Still keeping me guessing.
