Qinaya

Lorsque Qinaya, une orpheline péruvienne de 4 ans, est adoptée par une famille française, c’est la vie de tous qui est chamboulée. Mais pour Gabriel, ce sera encore plus compliqué : il lui faudra apprendre à devenir grand-père, lui qui n’a jamais pris le temps d’être père.
Des premiers contacts un rien distants aux moments partagés, Gabriel et Qinaya vont peu à peu nouer des liens que même le vieux bourru était loin d’imaginer.

When Europeans write about life, it's deep and it goes straight into your heart, it might not be life issues we have here in the middle east, we might not relate to any of it, But man it is good, it is beautiful, it is profound!
A story about an old couple 45+ adopting a little girl, after her city has been hit by a nasty earthquake.
They have no time for the girl since they are working, so the grandparents are taking care of her, The Big Grandpa, acting tough and heartless, but the tiny human melts his heart so fast!
It's an overwhelming change, in a kid's life, to get moved continents, to another country, another family, another language!
Gotta feel for couples who can't have kids, and they want kids, i really don't care if i ever have kids in my life, i am just so in peace, with so many aspects, that haunt so many people, and thank the force, i am barely moving through life, without all the extra stress.
Gotta also feel for young men and women in my country who want to marry, but they can't marry, again i couldn't care less if i do, but talking with them, having had many friends male and female, who speak about that desire, that it's obsessive, it's ruining their life, their fun and success, again i wish all to get their wishes, or to find peace not getting them like i have.
It's a story about adoption, but it really isn't, it's a story about life, a retired butcher, a retired baker, Old men who lost children, Old men whose children didn't fulfill their parents dreams, old men bitter after retiring feeling like it was all for nothing, parents trying to make ends meet, a fabulous grandma, trying to support everyone around her.
It dies with us? But that's a grim answer.

I will consider this a day that i have read, unlike yesterday, might read more, might not, This was bittersweet, i didn't do spoiler, didn't want to ruin this for anyone, who might be interested to pick it up, because it's worth it, and suitable for so so many people.
You know how it goes, we get sad, we sympathize, then we forget about it...

This is alternatively funny and sad. Grandpa is grumpy and gnarly. And Qinaya is too cute for words. She is a little girl from Peru, that has been adopted into a French family. Mostly this first issue is about the developing relationship between her and her new grandfather.
I dared to get this in French. I understood most of it without looking up words and context helped where I didn‘t. I definitely missed some nuances, that I then picked up when I read the English translation in The Adoption: CE. I will post more of a review there eventually.
Nice artwork, good story, well-done character development. Very surprising ending of Issue #1.

In één woord hartverwarmend en in nog één woord realistisch.
Het is aan de lezer om te beslissen om Gabriël de juiste keuze heeft gemaakt. Een leven gewijd aan de 14-urige werkdagen in de slagerij, in een Frankrijk dat voorgoed tot het verleden behoort, schijnt zijn nageslacht geen windeieren te hebben gelegd. Er is ook geen sprake van vervreemding binnen de familie als symptoom van 'emotionele verwaarlozing'.
Een mooi boek om te lezen op alle leeftijden. Hoe wil jij terugblikken op driekwart eeuw ?

Une BD remplie d’amour où l’on découvre ce vieux monsieur devenir petit à petit grand-père et se laisser apprivoiser par une petite fille absolument adorable. J’ai vraiment beaucoup aimé, c’était à la fois beau, touchant et triste et j’ai maintenant hâte de lire la suite !

Un pasatiempo correcto. Guión sosete para arrancar lagrimita y un dibujo funcional pero muy poco arriesgado.
El giro final deja la puerta abierta al segundo tomo, que no tengo claro que vaya a leer.
Tras haberlo comprado y leído creo que no merece la inversión económica, aunque alguien que tenga el corazón un poco menos de piedra puede que lo disfrute, no sé...

I sincerely hope this book will be translated into English.
Aside from the amazing drawings, this book is filled with emotions. ''You can't buy love, nor force it. You have to earn it.''
I was taken aback to see that the entire family was happy when a couple decided to adopt little Qinaya from Peru, except for her adopted grandfather. He didn't hide his discontentment at all. His opinion was dead set and it took time and hope to see if his heart would melt for the charming child.
Prepare for a crazy cliffhanger!!

Une vraie merveille au titre un peu trompeur, le récit nous surprend par sa douceur et la profondeur de son message. A travers des scènes à la fois très simples et travaillées, on découvre l’amour d’une famille et plus particulièrement d’un grand père pour une petite fille venue de loin. Un magnifique (ces couleurs 😍) roman graphique universel sur l’amour et la famille.

Une BD aux couleurs chatoyantes et douces, aux graphismes bourrés de réalisme qui évoque du point de vue d’un grand-père l’adoption d’une petite fille péruvienne. Au fil des pages, on se laisse attendrir par cette petite fille adorable qui réchauffent les cœurs et rajeunit les plus vieux.

Une très jolie BD, j'ai trouvé cette histoire touchante et j'ai adoré suivre la petite Qinaya et l'évolution de sa relation avec son grand-père adoptif ! J'ai trouvé l'ensemble des personnages attachants même si le format fait qu'ils ne sont pas tous aussi approfondis qu'on le voudrait.
Je ne m'attendais pas du tout à cette fin et je l'ai trouvée un peu trop rapide. Cela manque d'explications et on reste sur notre faim. J'imagine qu'on en saura plus dans le deuxième tome !

Es un 3.5. Le pongo la 4 estrella por el dibujo y los momentos de abuela-nieta que me han parecido muy chulos, pero me esperaba otra cosa. Hay todo un tema turbio y complicado en el libro, que no se resuelve aquí, que te deja muy mal sabor de boca y va bastante en contra del tono del libro. Me ha dejado a cuadros.

BD ayant pour thème l’adoption d’une petite péruvienne par une famille franco-anglaise. On ne suit pas l’aventure des parents mais du point de vue du grand-père principalement. Alors c’est le cliché de l’artisan qui a la valeur travail et est fier d’avoir bossé 50h par semaine. Evidemment, il est bourru et est contre cette adoption et petit à petit son cœur de gros dur va fondre au point de devenir un papi poule. Puis, ce sera le drame…
Bref, le scénario est plein de clichés au point où on n’y croit plus vraiment. Le drame n’est pas crédible. La fin est cucul la praline au possible.
Heureusement, les graphisme et les couleurs sont magnifiques. Je ne vous conseille pas de l’acheter mais si comme chez moi, la piscine municipale de chez vous ouvre plus tard que la bibliothèque, ça occupe en attendant.
PS : il y a un 3ème tome qui est le début d’une nouvelle série. C’était pire, j’ai arrêté ma lecture au quart de la BD.

Une bande-dessinée tellement bien réalisée sur la thématique de l’adoption, au travers des yeux du grand-père paternel de 74 ans. Gabriel est un homme de prime abord bourru mais rempli d’humanité. Sa carapace se fend progressivement pour révéler ses valeurs et sa profonde accessibilité, non sans humour.
La fin est surprenante et donne envie de lire la suite rapidement !

OH NEIN.... Ich hatte mir fest vorgenommen, Band 1 erst zu lesen, wenn ich Band 2 bereits besitze. Aber jetzt habe ich dieses wunderbare, herzerwärmende, lustige, traurige Buch gelesen, es ist Sonntag und ich kann (nach diesem schrecklichen Ende, diesem fürchterlichen Cliffhänger) nicht sofort weiterlesen, sondern muss bis Dienstag warten.....

Zidrou e Monin jogam simples e bonito. Sem nenhum sentimentalismo e com bastante humor, eles conseguem dar conta de uma vida inteira de afetos (inclusive os perdidos), desilusões e alguma felicidade. Zidrou manipula o tempo como ninguém. Econômico, consegue dizer muito com poucas cenas. Parece trivial e fácil, mas ao final você percebe que passou por um emocionante banho de técnica e beleza.
