Small town librarian Kate French just inherited a large sum of money from her estranged grandmother. The only catch? She needs to be married to receive her inheritance. Too bad she's been secretly in love with her best friend, Adam Krouse. Adam has harbored an infatuation on the beautiful librarian for months, but felt that he was too old, too washed up to have a chance with his best friend. When the problem of Kate collecting her inheritance comes up, Adam agrees to help her out of the codicil by marrying her. He thought it would only last a week.
