War has come to Andvell. Enemy after enemy takes its place along the northern border, each one a terrifying result of dark magic and experimentation. In the face of the great army, Andvell's resources are few.
As the enemy marches, unlikely hero Venn Connell must act or be lost in the flood — one final mission to end the war, no matter the cost.
Standing on the brink of devastation, Venn is forced to question her most deeply held beliefs and trust her friends to see her through the darkness.
Known for witty, vivid characters, Krista Walsh never has more fun than getting them into trouble and taking her time getting them out. When not writing, she can be found walking, reading, gaming, or watching a film – anything to get lost in a good story. She currently lives in Ottawa, Ontario
I love it when a character develops during a series, and Venn's surely does.
In this last book of the series, she has her hands full, with herself, but also with the enemy. This war has cost her more than enough and it needs to end. However, the enemy will not yield easy.
Action-packed, thrilling, and well written. Loved Venn's story very much!
If you're looking at this book, I'm going to assume you've read the first two books in the series. You'll know what to expect from this one as far as how well it is written and how great Venn's swears are. The action is even more exciting than in the first two books, and I genuinely did not know how or if the author was going to pull them out of the war.
As is typical with a good series, I was sad to finish this one because I loved the characters and wanted to know what was going to happen next for them. I really want to know if anything is going to happen with Naya ("dragon girl") as she grows up - the question of her father's link to the dragon came up a few times in the series, so perhaps we can get a book with Naya at about 18 where she can breathe fire on command and has dragon scales on her arms? No? How about Naya having her own adventures, then, although I can't think of anything more exciting than what all happened in the Cadis Trilogy. But I thought the same thing after the Meratis Trilogy, and the Cadis Trilogy really delivered.
I received a review copy of the Kindle book in exchange for an honest review. This is the third in the wonderful trilogy of Venn Connell's adventures, with the first and second being Bloodlore and Blightlore. These books are interestingly-plotted, very well written, thoroughly detailed, compelling, and addictive. Hating spoilers, i won't leave any here, and will simply say that this is a terrific and very satisfying wrap-up of the trilogy. Everything does not end the easy way, there are many twists and turns, the characters are interesting and well-fleshed-out, and the villains use intriguing and very wicked magic. I have read fantasy since the 1980s & recognize that a lot of what is out there is a rehashing of several standard plots, complete with use of hackneyed plot devices devised in the early days of fantasy writing. Ms. Walsh manages to bring new angles, monsters, and details to a beloved genre. I highly recommend her work in general, and this trilogy specifically.
Book 3 was a fun read and had errors throughout. The ending for book 3 was fun and had a few twists and turns that where unexpected. The ending was satisfying to a point but could have been more exciting. I enjoyed the series and look forward to more by krista walsh
an amazing ending to a thrilling trilogy, non stop action, heart wrenching moments of lost love and love found finally admitted. loved the camaraderie between the main characters especially the armored bear and the FMC.
It's not often that I finish a book and feel sorry that there's not more. I have just completed BLADELORE, by Krista Walsh, the third book of the Cadis Trilogy, which I began Friday night. I finished book two, BLIGHTLORE, and immediately picked up the third book. The trilogy is a fabulous fantasy action/adventure series, whose main character, Venn Connell, is an assassin, trained as a girl to live in the shadows as a loner. No more story here. Read the books to find out about her. But as a reader, I applaud Ms. Walsh for a brilliant story and timeless characters. This story is filled with twists, intrigue, love and war, and of course, magic. I intended the three books to be my summer reading with others interspersed. I read all three in a week. The only thing predictable was there was bound to be a new twist on the next page. It's difficult to keep a story going in multiple books. Believe me, you need to start at the beginning and be ready to keep going. It's a wonderful story.
The main character Venn Connel who is a trained assassin by trade is in the biggest fight to protect the friends and family she loves and cares for. The man who has stolen her heart is Will is a magic user of which he is also still learning how to control a demon beast that has created from a dark magic spell. The armies that Queen Ansala builds go against a army of fighters that are created from people that are either severely injured or dead and are like a walking dead but with a body armor of blood and are hard to kill... I found this book full of action with lots of love entwined around Venn and Will... I believe it is there strong love and trust that helps aid them in winning the war... If want to find out more... you need to read the book I have received a review copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Having read the first two books in the series, I was lucky enough to receive the ARC for Bladelore in exchange for an honest review!
I highly recommend this series and quite enjoyed Bladelore which wrapped everything up perfectly! Venn is an interesting character to follow, watching her learn and grow. It left me wanting more but at the same time was the perfect ending. My imagination is free to continue Venn's journey in my mind and I couldn't ask for anymore :)
What can I say my heart was pounding when Venn was fighting with Brannagh. The closer I got to the end the less I wanted to read. I did the dishes anything to slow down time, but the end came anyway. I loved the series read it! Once again thank you Krista Walsh!
