Nikki LeClair, also known under her pen name Vivian Brooks, wasn't always a avid reader or writer. She picked it up during high-school when she came across Sophie Kinsella's Shopacholic series and the works of Jane Austen. Suddenly she found herself with high marks in her English and Writing classes, and part of the Yearbook club. Since then she's read more romantic comedies than she can list and until recently had the privilege of releasing her very first novel; All Because of You.
Her heroines are often over the top, but fully relate-able to any woman whose had to struggle with her love life, suitors, work environment and family.
She credits her work and the ability to force herself to keep up with her passion to her brother who was one of her first mentors in writing.

Haunting me by Nikki LeClair a fantastic four star read. This is the first book in the Haunting me series, and what a start this book is funny, there’s some romance and intrigue and mystery and a story that will keep you hooked from start to finish and give you a great story as you read. Nikki LeClair isn’t an author I have read before, but the next book in this series is likely to be one of the next books I read. Nikki has a great talent that flows off the pages.
Phoebe Mercer has a life that many would be jealous of, she has a fantastic boyfriend, a great job working at one of the city’s top law firms. When she gets engaged it just seems to be the cream on top. Life couldn’t be better, until that is one fateful day an incident with a hot dog truck leaves Phoebe with a concussion and an unexpected consequence. When Phoebe wakes up in hospital a concussion isn’t the only thing she wakes with now she can see dead people, and with the dead people come the mysteries.
This story is so much more than what it appears on the outset, we watch as Phoebe goes from being someone people are jealous of to someone you want to know more about, and care about. There are great characters that keep this story alive and have characters that leap of the page as you read.

Haunting Me by Nikki LeClaire is the first book in a fun ghost mystery series. These are some of my favorite kinds of books! I love any kind of book with a ghost and a lead who can see and talk to them. Phoebe Mercer has a hot boyfriend and is working at a well known law firm in hopes to further her career aspirations. She is hoping to become a lawyer one day. After getting engaged she gets ran over by a hotdog truck. When she wakes up she has a concussion and can see ghosts! Well one annoying and loud ghost in particular. Edie the ghost swears she has been murdered and wants Phoebe to help her. So before she knows it she's helping to solve a mystery which puts her relationships with friends and her fiancé and her job in serious jeopardy. So I enjoyed this book. For me it was a little slow at the beginning but by the middle I was really into it and liked the characters. I found the fiancé Riley to be super annoying at times and was really glad with how the story played out. My favorite part was the ending. I know it's super cliche but I liked how the author tied some things up. I hope that in future books things are explored with Porter and we can see where that goes. Anyway it's a fun start to the series and I look forward to the next books! 4 star rating!!

I have fallen in love with this book.. Its not often i start a book and want to be at the end before its finished. You know that feeling when you start something and just know its going to be a goodie?. The cover first drew me to this and i actually first thought it was something to do with Halloween, then i read the blurb and couldnt wait to get started. I have watched a couple of films similar to this book where certain people can see a ghost and they need to finish something before finally resting. Ok so im waffling now, back to the book..
We meet Phoebe Mercer, who works at a top law firm, she has great friends and a wondeful boyfriend. Recently getting engaged, Phoebe could not be happier. That is until she gets run over by a hot dog cart!. When Phoebe wakes up in hospital after having a slight concussion, she now has the ability to see dead people, well one ghost by the name of Edie. Edie is loud, brassy and a force to be reckoned with. Edie needs help from Phoebe after being murdered for her business and money. Phoebe is sent on a mission to stop the people getting their hands on anything of Edie's. Phoebe comes up against not only problems in her career but her relationship too. And after meeting the handsome Porter, nephew of Edie, Phoebe begins to see that things are not quiet as they seem. She uncovers many secrets and lies, but will she manage to help Edie or will she keep quiet for an easy life?.
I liked how this story just flowed and we could engage so easily with the characters. The story just leaves you wanting to turn the page to see what Edie and Phoebe get up to next. It was nicely set out and Nikki gave great descriptions of Edie's home that i just fell in love. At times i wanted to slap Phoebe's Fiance Riley, i mean who makes someone turn Vegan and have a complex about themselves. Ewwww not a nice guy.
I felt a bit sad that Edie was actually dead as she is such a great character and so much more we could learn about her but there is a little surprise at the end so all is forgiven. Top marks to Nikki LeClair, I can not wait for book 2 to be out.

If a friend ever asks you, “Why do you read Cozy Mysteries?”- hand them this book! They will love this read and be hooked! HAUNTING ME (Haunting Me Series Book 1) features two enchanting and likeable characters. Phoebe, her Mom calls her Jitterbug, is smart, perky, cute and is a friendly and loyal gal.

When the story begins, Phoebe is pursuing her dream attorney job, and dream boyfriend, although both her goals are derailed by a runaway hot dog cart. As a result of her accident with the cart, Phoebe meets Edie, the second wonderful character in this book. Edie is an older society lady, but plenty of mystery surrounds her- mainly because Edie is a ghost, and a ghost with legal issues. You will bond with these two characters and root for them as they do their best to solve Edie’s problems. You will want to be best friends with Phoebe and Edie.

There are many twists and turns- a wedding, and an estate sale were among the many well-written and hilarious scenes. Add in the cast of Phoebe’s friends and relatives, their well-styled clothes and delectable food, plus a secret staircase, and you will not be able to put this fast paced story down. This is a fresh and contemporary mystery that will leave you feeling entertained.

You will be happy that the ending turns out as it does. Some of the solution was predictable, but in a good way- you will be rooting for the characters and want things to turn out as they did. But don’t worry- there are some twists and turns in the plot. And the best part of the ending- the phrase, “To be continued.”

I am discovering that there are many types of cozy mysteries. Haunting Me falls into the “chick lit cozy” category. The scenes play out like they would in a chick flick movie, and the writing style is light and breezy. A little bit of humor, a little bit of romance, and a little bit of mystery.

Edie the ghost is a hoot – and she was my favorite character in the book. She had the most dimension and some of the best lines. She was bold and brassy and on a mission – to solve her own murder and the mystery of her missing will. Edie and Phoebe make an interesting team and discovering what they were up to next was highly entertaining as the story progressed!

Bottom Line: While the writing style in Haunting Me isn’t my fave, the story itself has enough appeal to keep me reading. Edie and Phoebe and Porter stand out from the rest of the characters, and the romance angle has me looking forward to book two! If you were a fan of the TV show Ghost Whisperer, you will enjoy this unique cozy mystery!

Haunting Me is the first book in the Haunting Me Series by Nikki LeClair. It is an enthralling paranormal mystery full of drama, intrigue, humour and suspense.
Phoebe Mercer has worked hard to be where she is- seemingly living quite an enviable life with a wonderful boyfriend, loving and supportive family, and incredibly loyal friends. Life seems to be going great, everything falling into place and a bright future ahead of her. So the last thing she expects is to get run over by a hot dog cart.
Waking up in hospital with concussion seemed to be the worst thing to happen to her, until she meets Edie- a ghost, who needs Phoebe’s help in solving her murder and find her missing Will. Phoebe is seriously questioning her sanity and takes quite a bit of convincing that Edie is real.
Edie is so hilarious, a real scene stealer. She is a snarky, witty, sassy, straight-talking ghost who has to find her Will before her business and beautiful estate are sold off. And as Phoebe is the only one who can see or hear her, Edie won’t stop pestering Phoebe until she agrees to help.
Having a ghost in her life puts a lot of pressure on her and pretty soon begins to impact not only her relationship, but also her job. Can she help Edie find what she’s looking for before Phoebe loses everything? Then there is the added complication of Edie’s gorgeous nephew who Phoebe is beginning to have feelings for. And then they discover that there are people and situations involved in this that aren’t as they seem.
Phoebe and Edie aren’t the only ones after the will and soon find themselves in a race against the clock and in dangerous game of cat and mouse, to find the will and untangle the mystery before it’s too late!
This is such a fun, light-hearted and incredibly entertaining story. I had a wonderful time following Phoebe and Edie through the story uncovering the mystery. These two made a great team and I really enjoyed their ‘company’. The characters were all really well developed and all added to my enjoyment of the story.
The story had a fast pace, flowed well and was easy to read. It is part of a series and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

Thank you Ms. LeClair!

I just love this story... It is quirky and absolutely hilarious. I don’t think I have laughed so hard all the way through a book as I did with this one. Nikki LeClair has done a brilliant job. I certainly didn’t want the story to end. The story flowed easily and the main characters, Edie and Phoebe, I just adored. This is a fresh, light and breezy mystery with lots of intrigue, twists and turns. I found myself exhausted at times trying to keep up with the antics of the two. They are certainly the odd couple and keep you on your toes and face in the book… There were some characters that I certainly took a dislike too. Some of them I just wanted to shake and the others I wanted to run them over but hey, every story needs a baddie, right?

When Phoebe gets run over by a hot dog cart, yes a hot dog cart, she awakes with more than a concussion. The loud, crazy and extremely annoying woman she can hear in the hospital just won’t leave her alone to rest. Turns out the loud, crazy and extremely annoying woman named Edie is a ghost. Edie is a crazy old bag who is a hoot and soooo loveable, she takes no prisoners, she is all encompassing as poor Phoebe has found out and she makes this story. Phoebe is more conservative but they make for a great team. With Edie on a mission she expects Phoebe to help unfold the mystery of her murderer, and uncover the lies surrounding her death and her fortune. The pair find themselves in many a situation and just as quickly as Edie places Phoebe in amongst them she disappears and leaves poor Phoebe to find a way out. The two are highly entertaining as together they discover all the lies and secrets in both their lives. Just when I thought Phoebe had finally found it, the book ended in a way I certainly did not see coming. I hope she finds it in the next book and can’t wait to see what this quirky pair get up to.

Review:

Haunting Me has all the elements that I look for in a cozy mystery: great characters, humor, mystery and a bit of romance. Ane this one had the added bonus of a ghost, which made it extra special for me. I have read a lot of cozy ghost mysteries because it is one of my favorite sub-genres. And this one was as good as any that I have read.

Phoebe is having a great life and is excited to be newly engaged to Riley, her boyfriend. Her job is going good, she has a loving family and great friends. Everything is looking up for her, until she gets run over by a hotdog cart. Yes, I said a hotdog cart. After that accident, her life is turned upside down. Tension begins to build between her and Riley and her job starts to suffer. But the worst thing is that she can now see a ghost. Edie is that ghost and she will not let Phoebe rest until she agrees to help find her will and find out who killed her.

The characters are well developed, well rounded and three dimensional. There were some characters that it was easy to like and I enjoyed getting to know Phoebe and her friends and family. Then there were some characters that it was easy to dislike, like Riley, his mom and Phoebe’s boss. And there was one character that it was easy to love, and that character was Edie. She was funny, feisty and endearingly annoying. I enjoyed reading about the relationship that developed between Phoebe and Edie and it lead to many laugh out loud moments for me.

There are a couple of mysteries that need to be solved in this book. Edie is sure that she was murdered and she asks Phoebe to prove that she was killed. And she knows that she has a will that has disappeared and she needs Phoebe to find it to save her fortune from greedy hands. The mysteries are carried on well throughout the entire book and there were enough clues, twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. The suspense and tension kept building until the end of the book.

The writing style flowed smoothly and the book was an easy read. The author is very talented in creating characters and in her descriptive writing. I could picture myself at Edie’s mansion while I was reading, watching all the action taking place around me.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. And I can honestly say that I would rate this book more than five stars if I could. I really loved this book and cannot wait to read the next book in this series. Grab a copy and see for yourself what I am talking about.

I'm huge fan of both chick lit and mystery, so this book was my dream come true! In her debut novel, Nikki LeClair does an amazing job of giving her readers all the good stuff--humor, intrigue, romance and plenty of conflict. From the beginning, we can see that Phoebe's life is not quite as she wants it to be--her dream job feels out of reach and her dream man is a little off. (More like A LOT off. I actually wanted to slap him a couple of times!) Then the fateful day of the great-hot-dog-cart escape arrives and *bang* her life becomes much more complicated, and, in turn, much more interesting. Following her head injury, Phoebe's life is taken over by Edie--a very persistent, ornery and entertaining ghost. Suddenly, Phoebe is thrown into a mystery which could cost her her fiancé, her job and her sanity. Joining Phoebe in her game of cloak and dagger was the most fun I've had in a while. The best part? There's a sequel!

I love a good light-hearted mystery, and Haunting Me was exactly that! I loved Phoebe from the get-go, and had to have a good laugh when she got run over by a hot dog cart! When she meets her ghost, things really got interesting! Not only does she need to help figure out how she died, find her will and help save a company, but Phoebe struggles to keep her new fiancé happy and her job is in shambles. Haunting Me had all the perfect ingredients for a chick lit mystery and I happily found myself not wanting to put my Kindle down. The ending was a little surprising to me, but since this is book 1 in a series, I’m hoping we’ll learn some more information on Phoebe’s love life in the second installment, which I look forward to reading!

Fast read... not that it's a short book, it's the fact that it's good enough to keep you interested and guessing as well as turning the pages that before you know it, you've finished the book. Yes, in one sitting. This is a well written book, characters that will make you wander how the author came up with them and a story that will have you completely escaped from reality! What goes on behind this cover you don't want to miss!

This is a really great book. So much so that from page one I did not stop or put it down until I read the last word on the last page! Very few books do that to me and it was delighted with this story. The story reminded me of a book I read years ago and loved called the Un-Domestic Goddess, the story is quite different but it was the theme of "accidentally finding your true self" that I found very endearing.

Haunting Me (Haunting Me Series Book 1) by Nikki LeClair is the first book in the Haunting Me series. This story is about a woman who can't remember who she is and is being haunted by a ghost that may change her life forever. This story has a little bit of everything in it, suspense, mystery, humor, and romance. This is my first story by this author, I enjoyed her creativeness of the characters and her ability to create a connection with them. I enjoyed the connection the characters have with each other and that they are true to life in many ways. They keep the story flowing with an easy flow that will keep you engaged until the end. Their story will pull you in from the first word and keep you wanting more. Find out what happens to this woman as she learns who she is, she may find out that others are not what they appear to be.

Phoebe Mercer is a woman who thought she had it all and other wanted what she has. She has a wonderful boyfriend, great job at a law firm and fantastic friends. Getting is engaged was just the thing to make her life better. Then one day things change for her. She is hit by a hot dog stand and wakes up with a concussion and the ability to see a ghost that has been murdered for her fortune. What will happen when she becomes involved with solving a mystery that could threaten everything for her? When she starts to have feelings for the ghosts nephew, she realizes those around her are not who they seem to be. When she must lie to solve this mystery and be rid of this ghost, she uncovers secrets and lies. Will the secrets that she keeps be the end of everything for her? Are any of them safe? Will she be able to trust anyone?

Phoebe is a character that will make you laugh but she also is hiding her real self from everyone. Just when she feels like she has it all then she is hit by of all things a hot dog stand and her world is turned upside down. She is a strong character that while she is learning about herself in the whole process, she also is growing with the story. She does need to learn to accept who she is but she is a very likable character. The secondary characters are just as great. They make the story flow and you will love how the ghost will make you laugh. The twists and turns the characters take you through will shock you in parts and leaving you sitting on the edge of your seat in the others. But they will leave you wanting more from them. Find out what happens, will she live with this ghost forever or will she find what they are looking for?

This is my first story by Nikki LeClair and I know it won't be the last. I can't wait to see what she has for us next! Nikki lives in Canada with her husband and their two children. When she isn't chasing after her children and the dog, she is behind her laptop plotting her next adventures for her characters. You will enjoy how this story is a fast paced story that will leave you wanting to see more from these characters. You will find it hard to put this book down and it will keep you engaged until the end. You will want to see what is leering behind every page of this book. I highly recommend this book as I know you will want to see what happens to Phoebe and her ghost.

Haunting Me by Nikki LeClair is book 1 in her Haunting Me series and is her debut book. Locking Up Santa, book 2 in the series, is also available to purchase.

Phoebe Mercer’s life has changed over the last three years and everything in her life appears to be perfect; she has amazing friends, a dream job at the city’s top law firm and her “sweet, handsome, charming boyfriend of just over a year”, Riley. Things get even better when Riley proposes to her during a meal with his parents but Phoebe is knocked down by a runway hot dog stand on her way back to work and wakes up in hospital with concussion. She then meets an outspoken lady by the name of Edie Edwards who claims to be a ghost and Phoebe discovers that she has suddenly acquired the skill to speak to ghosts. Phoebe finds herself agreeing to help Edie and is soon solving a mystery that could change her life completely.

“I am a ghost. There is no might. My name is Edie Edwards and I died right there in that bed that you are lying in, a mere four hours after I was admitted to the hospital, about a month ago.” - Edie to Phoebe

After initially struggling to get into Haunting Me, I ended up enjoying the story of Phoebe and Edie. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments and I loved how Edie spoke her mind but poor Phoebe would be left squirming trying not to react when others were around. I really wasn't keen on Riley or Phoebe’s boss, Terrance, as both treated her appallingly and only cared about themselves. It was clear early on that Phoebe was hiding her true self and had fooled herself into believing that her life was perfect; I feel this was due to the success of her siblings and feeling she would never achieve the same.

Nikki LeClair gets the descriptive just right when she’s setting the scene and I could clearly imagine what places like Edie’s home looked like. It was as if i was actually there and this pulled me even more into the story. I eagerly turned the pages as I couldn't wait to see what mischief and mayhem Edie would lead poor Phoebe into next. I think Edie is just what Phoebe needed though and Edie could be described as the devil (or angel, depending on which way you want to look at it) on her shoulder whispering encouragement in her ear.

“My point is that if you haven’t felt this way about a man in a very long time or ever, you ought to do something about it. Even if it means just saying ‘I like you.’ Things are different when you’re with someone who you have chemistry with. I know it sounds cliché, but it’s true. I mean sometimes it doesn’t work out and you break up and you get some space but sometimes that can be a good thing.” - Clara to Phoebe

The ending of Haunting Me wasn't what I expected but it's left me excited for Locking Up Santa and I can't wait to see what adventures come Phoebe and Edie’s way. I would definitely recommend this book but be warned not to read it somewhere where you need to be quiet because there's no way you won't find yourself laughing out loud.

Haunting Me (Haunting Me Series Book 1)
By: Nikki LeClair
5 out of 5 stars

The story Haunting Me (Haunting Me Series Book 1) by Nikki LeClair is a humorous/paranormal ghost story. This is a story that caught my interest from the beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I read the final page. It is a very humorous look into the life of Phoebe Mercer and what happens to her after getting run over by a hot dog cart. It is because of this accident that she gets a concussion and also now is able to see a ghost that has decided that Phoebe is the one to help her as she claims to have been murdered for her money. What happens next is a wild ride that involves solving mysteries and sometimes getting Phoebe in a world of trouble. Will Phoebe be able to help the ghost without her family and friends wondering if she has lost her mind?

I read a lot of books and sometimes there are those that tickles my funny bone and I am laughing out loud through the entire book. This is one of them. I love Phoebe. She is working her way to becoming a lawyer at one of the cities top law firms, however, her efforts seem to have been sidetracked by her boss. He doesn’t seem to want to give her that chance. My opinion is that Phoebe is too stressed out. She is someone that cares for others and changes her life to fit theirs while sometimes not taking care of herself. Her job is very stressful as her boss doesn’t treat her well and she always feels that she is going to be replaced. When Phoebe first meets the ghost that turns Phoebe’s world into a complete mess she is shocked and it takes her a while to finally believe what is happening. This ghost is not going away without Phoebe’s help and she provides much of the comedy through this book with her words and actions. Phoebe’s investigation leads her to the ghost’s home and meeting her nephew. Phoebe soon begins to realize that all is not what it seems in both her personal life and with the people she is investigating. Will Phoebe be able to solve the mystery for this ghost while surviving all the revelations in her own life?

This story has many wonderful characters that I fell in love with. Phoebe has wonderful friends and family that only want the best for her. There are also those who are working against Phoebe who had me wishing and hoping that they don’t succeed. This is the first book that I have read in this series and by the author. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. The author has a wonderful writing style. Read this story to find out if Phoebe can find peace in her life while helping a ghost find peace as well.

The story Haunting Me (Haunting Me Series Book 1) by Nikki LeClair is a humorous, paranormal, ghost, mystery story. It is the first book in the series so can be read alone. It is also Nikki LeClair’s debut as an author.
The story follows the life of Phoebe Mercer. She appears to have everything a girl could want. She has a foot on the ladder of what promises to be a long and successful career doing a job she has always wanted to do. Even though her boss thwarts her at every move and doesn’t seem to like her she ‘hangs on’ in there and strives hard to please. Despite her aspirations to become a top lawyer Phoebe is somewhat naïve and innocent. A previous boyfriend left her with a hefty debt she is struggling to pay off. Her current boyfriend has no worries or concerns as he is wealthy – trouble is he wants to take control of her life under the guise of looking after her. She tells herself she couldn’t have a better life. Then a quirky accident changes everything….
When Phoebe wakes up from severe concussion her world has changed. Phoebe seems to be accompanied by a loud, obnoxious woman (Edie) who claims to have been murdered. When no-one else can see or hear this woman Phoebe finally admits she can see a ghost. The trouble is this ghost persists in harassing Phoebe to get what she wants. Unwillingly at first Phoebe sets out to help the ghost solve the mystery of her murder and bring the culprit to shame.
As Phoebe helps Edie her world continues to change; for the better. She begins to see people around her clearly and realises she cannot live her own life to please others: she must learn to please herself too.
The main two female characters in Haunting Me develop a strong relationship in the quest to solve a murder. They spark off each other well and find humour in many situations. Phoebe and Edie are both believable and honest characters. As their stories unfold we learn more about their lives and their personalities. Phoebe discovers skills and strengths she didn’t know she had. The subsidiary characters (Phoebe’s boyfriend, colleague and boss) are also annoying and irritably believable.
Nikki LeClair’s writing style is easy to read and her story is easy to follow. Haunting Me kept me entertained on a very long coach journey as it has lots to offer. There were moments of fun, sarcasm, annoyance, romance, mystery and of course, suspense. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I give Haunting Me (book one in the Haunting Me Series) by Nikki LeClair 5 stars.

Phoebe Mercer has the perfect life. First off, she has her foot in the door at a prestigious law firm. Sure, is currently a glorified errand girl for her horrible boss who seems to hate her, but it’s only a matter of time before she is able to take her bar exam and become a lawyer. Then there is her boyfriend. Her ex-boyfriend not only had no motivation, he was just a dreamer who took her money, lost it all, then ran. Riley, her current boyfriend, couldn’t be much further from that if he tried. Good-looking, motivated, health conscious – he is everything she could ask for in a man. She tells herself she couldn’t have a better life. Then a quirky accident changes everything….

She wakes up in the hospital. She slowly remembers what happened and is so embarrassed. The doctors tell her she had a slight concussion and that she should take it easy, but everything else is fine. Then an elegant stranger in the room talks to her and makes her think maybe she hit her head harder than they thought. This older lady claims she died right there on the bed Phoebe is currently occupying and that she’s actually a ghost. No one else can see or hear her and she can walk through walls, so she must be telling the truth, right? Um...

Oh, but that isn’t everything. This woman claims she was murdered and she needs her will found. She wants Phoebe's help since she is the only one that sees the ghost. What seems to be a difficult task, becomes impossible as webs are woven, and the plot of her will gets thicker and thicker. Who’s behind the will being lost? What are the stakes? Was this woman actually murdered? Does Phoebe even belong here, doing this dangerous stuff? And could it be that maybe her perfect life really isn’t all that perfect?

This was a wonderful paranormal cozy mystery. The characters are great, especially the ghost. I have to admit, Phoebe really drove me crazy in the beginning but I quickly realized that was done on purpose. I enjoyed not only the people, but the story itself as well. It’s the perfect whodunit. With a ghost thrown in for good measure. I highly recommend this book and hope there are many more in this series!

What an amazing five star book. Haunting me by Nikki LeClair is a wonderfully funny and fun “Who dun it?”
Ms. LeClair writes an intriguing and entertaining bunch of characters from Phoebe, the main character to Edie, the ghost, to the love interests (yes, i said interests, plural), Ms. LeClair writes all of her characters in a realistic and animated way. They are wonderful to read about. Their interactions are real and down to earth. Phoebe is portrayed as a “wanna be” lawyer, who is, even at the beginning of the story, a little out of her depth. The way Ms. LeClair has written Phoebe, you can tell that as a lawyer, she is a little scattered. It isn’t that Phoebe doesn’t know her stuff, you just get the impression that law is not really all that interesting for her. Not exactly her forte. Ms. LeClair has done a good job of subtly conveying that message to her readers.
Edie, the ghost is written just right!! If there are ghosts, Edie is the perfect example. She is just a little absent. Absent minded, Absent physically, and, sometimes Edie is absent emotionally. She is really well written. She is flaky, fluttery and totally unconcerned with any mortal goings on that don’t have a bearing on what she wants. Things like, for instance, Phoebe’s career, or Phoebe’s love life. I think ghosts might be just like this, slightly selfish and very willing to break, or bend the rules/laws if it suited them. And, Edie certainly has that quality in spades.
Phoebe’s family is just as eccentric in their own ways as Phoebe. it is obvious that the three siblings have teamed up frequently. The caring and sense of family is very evident. Phoebe’s friends are written with the same care and eye to consistency that runs throughout the entire book. Each family member and friend is well written and each has their own motivations and character flaws that make them unique. Ms. LeClair has done an excellent job with description and character make up for each one of the people in her book.
I absolutely loved Haunting Me and absolutely love Nikki LeClair’s writing. what a treat!! Five fabulous stars for haunting Me by Nikki LeClair.

Haunting me is the first book in the Haunting Me Series by Nikki LeClair and is not a standalone novel. It’s told from Phoebe’s point of view with many character interactions. Riley, Edie, and Porter are a huge part of the plot in this fast paced and heart racing tale.

Phoebe Mercer is a legal assistant on the road to success at an established law firm, Meyers and Brant. With a great job and a sparkly ring on her finger thanks to her fiancé, Riley, life appears as if it couldn’t be better. Until, she’s run over on the street by a hot dog cart. After awakening from a concussion, she also has the ability to see a ghost.

“Finally, having a ghost is coming in handy.”

Coming to terms with her new ability to see the ‘unseen,’ she decides to help her new ghost friend, Edie Edwards, tie up the loose ends she left behind and find her last will and testament. As the two are on pursuit to find Edie’s last will, she becomes friends with the spirited older woman despite her law office job and romantic relationship with Riley being put to the test.

While the two are embarking on an adventure to find the will, Edie’s nephew, Porter, is in town from England to assist with her estate. Will Phoebe let him in on her secret ability to see his aunt, or keep that a secret?

As Phoebe digs deeper into Edie’s past, will she get caught red handed snooping in places she has no business being in? Will her lies to those around her catch up with her? Is Phoebe too distracted to spend time with her needy fiancé?

“I’m just-I’m just confused lately.”

With an unhappy boss, a cranky fiancé, an over the top obnoxious and bossy ghost, and a ridiculously handsome new guy, Porter, can Phoebe keep her sanity? Can Phoebe help Edie move on? Will Edie help persuade Phoebe in making big life altering decisions too?

Filled with inventive writing and humor, I would recommend Haunting Me if you enjoy mysteries and light hearted tales. LeClair delivers the perfect mixture of suspense and danger to this nail bitter of a story.

Haunting Me (Haunting Me Series Book 1) by Nikki LeClair

5 Amazingly Awesome Stars

Oh my goodness I loved this book so much!! I've already added this author to my favorites list, and I can not wait to get my hands on the second in this series. This book was full of everything I love..Humor, some romance, suspense, twists and turns, and the best characters ever!!

Phoebe works in the city’s top law firm waiting for a chance to take the bar exam and become a successful lawyer. The problem is her boss hates her and treats her more like an errand girl. She lives with her boyfriend who she has been with for over a year, she has amazing friends, and a supportive family. When she meets her boyfriend and his controlling mother for lunch she is surprised when he proposes to her and presents her with a ring. She says yes and his mother pretty much takes over the arrangements from there. When leaving to run another errand for her boss she ends up getting distracted and isn't even aware that she is about to be run over by a hot dog cart. She wakes in the hospital with a slight concussion and being yelled at by her hospital roommate. Well it turns out the roommate died a few weeks ago and is now a ghost that only Phoebe can hear and see. Her name is Edie and she claims she was murdered and can not cross over till she solves this crime and now that she has found someone that can hear and see her she has decided that Phoebe will help her solve this mystery.
Phoebe finds herself working to solve this mystery and in the process finds out that it could jeopardize her career, and is already affecting her relationships, especially her newly engaged status. She is forced to lie to so many to solve this crime and in the end could ruin everything her and Edie have tried to accomplish, not to mention everything in Phoebe’s life.

Do yourself a favor and read this book, it was so very well written and flowed so perfectly that I read it in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down!!

4 stars!

Haunting Me is the first book in the Haunting Me Series by Nikki LeClair and I thought that it was a really fun read! I really enjoyed it! I thought the book was really well written and had some great characters in it. I’m not usually one for ghost stories but this was not what I was expecting at all and I am so glad that I decided to read it. It is also my first read of anything by this author and it was a great introduction to her writing. It is definitely one of those books that I will happily recommend to my friends. The story was fast paced with a brilliant set of characters. It flowed seamlessly and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough so I could find out what was going to happen and would Phoebe actually solve the murder of Edie and find what she is looking for! The story had a great mystery running all the way through it and I loved that I couldn’t work out what was going to happen until the end! I also loved the plot twists! They were unexpected too!

I really liked Phoebe – she was such a fun character and if anything was going to go wrong it went wrong for her. I felt a real connection to her and wanted things to go right for her for once. Her relationship with her fiancé was interesting and it was obvious that she wasn’t happy especially when she met Edie’s handsome nephew Porter.

There were plenty of laugh out loud moments during this book and most of them came from Edie, the ghost who Phoebe can see. I don’t think I have laughed this much at a book in a while. I am definitely looking forward to the next book – I have high hopes for a little bit of romance mixed in with some more entertainment from Phoebe, her friends and of course not forgetting Edie!!

Haunting Me is the first book in the series of the same name by Nikki LeClair. This is a humorous, witty, supernatural, mystery story. It also happens to be the debut novel from this author.
The story follows the life of Phoebe Mercer. She is the girl who has it all! The amazing guy, great friends, good looks, and a blossoming career in law. However, this all changes after an accident leaves her with a concussion and another surprising side effect… she wakes up being able to see a ghost, Edie. Edie claims she has been murdered by Phoebe’s boss in his attempt to get his hands on her business and her fortune. She is a very persistent ghost and interferes with Phoebe’s life until she agrees to help solve the murder.
As Phoebe, unwillingly, starts to help Edie, her world starts changing; for the better! The rose-tinted glasses are removed by Edie’s witty commentary of her life and she begins to see some people for who they really are.
The two main characters have a strong relationship and this leads to some humorous dialogue as they stumble into some ridiculous situations. They are constantly hindered by the other characters who are also well written and develop throughout the book. There are a surprising amount of ‘bad guys’ in this book which leads to some twists and turns in the mystery.
Haunting Me kept me entertained all the way through, in part due to the easy writing style of the author. This book has some moments of comedy, heartbreak, romance, and of course suspense. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is the first book in this series that is super fun to read and it totally keeps you guessing the entire time. Murder, mayhem, maids and mysteries to solve. What more could you ask for than the four m's?
Phoebe Mercer is our resident hero to be. A budding legal assistant with a bad boss and a demanding self absorbed fiancée. She gets into an unfortunate accident that has her waking up to being able to see and hear Edie - who has just recently passed away.
Phoebe then becomes involved in solving the mystery of her passing, taking on an extra job as a maid in Edie's house to find out more clues to this mystery and trying desperately not to have feelings for Edie's nephew Porter, who is gorgeous!
She is newly engaged and her mother in-law to be in as mean as they come, wants to have the wedding right away and seems set on planning everything without her say in anything. After the accident her new fiancée can't even seem to show any sympathy at all, except to try and run her life. Her new resident ghost is yelling at Phoebe to solve the mystery of her death and not let her nephew sell her company out but always seems to have time to let Phoebe know what she thinks about everything else in her life.
Can Phoebe hold her sanity together with everything going on? Can she let her friends in on what is going on and not have them lock her up and think she's crazy?
I give this book a 5 star rating. I was so entranced by it all and couldn't put this book down. So looking forward to the next book in the series.

Haunting Me by Nikki LeClaire is a really clever and fun mystery tale with a supernatural element to it.

Phoebe has an accident and when she wakes up and recovers, she can see and hear Edie when no one else can. Edie is a ghost and wants help getting her real will implemented as well as finding out the truth of what happens to her.

As this story goes on, the relationship between Phoebe and Edie is hilarious and they are both amazing characters. Phoebe comes to realise that things aren't quite as they seem within her life due to the events that unfold which makes this story not just about the mystery of Edies will.

I loved how this book was written as it was easy to read and I found it very gripping. The characters are great. You will love to love the great one and love to hate the awful ones. They provide some twists along the way too. I found that this book not only tickled my ribs but pulled on my heart strings as well as there are some tender and life event moments that make it real. There is a sub plot of self rediscovery in the story and a deep feeling of losing yourself in a relationship.

Haunting Me is so quirky, as are some of the characters, and suspenseful. It is very inventively written and I was very happy to find at the end of the story that there will be more! I cannot wait to read what follows this book and any others written by this author. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Haunting My by Nikki LeClair

Haunting Me (Haunting Me Series Book #1) by Nikki LeClair is a 5-Star lighthearted paranormal mystery. The story is about Phoebe, who gets engaged, then ends up with a concussion from being run into by a hot dog cart all in the same afternoon. After waking up in the hospital Phoebe finds that she is able to see and hear a feisty, witty, opinionated and talkative ghost named Edie, who recently died and and wants Phoebe to help her wrap up some loose ends and solve the mystery of who murdered her. Phoebe reacts as you'd expect, but due to Edie being very pushy and persuasive, she decides to go along with Edie’s request to do a little digging into what happened.

The story was a funny, fast, and easy-going read. The author did a wonderful job describing the characters and I completely adored the ghost, Edie. Phoebe’s fiancé was described in a way that had me just as annoyed with him as Edie and Phoebe’s friends and family obviously were. I enjoyed the story a great deal and the author pulled everything together nicely, only to end the story with a lead into another book in the series. When the author mentioned the movie/series Dead Like Me early on in the story I immediately had a good feeling about what was to come and I was not disappointed. I read Haunting Me in one evening after work and look forward to the next book in the series.

Haunting me by Nikki Leclair is a wonderful supernatural mystery story. I read it in two sittings, luckily it was the weekend so I could read for a few hours uninterrupted. Phoebe mercer is a legal assistant who end up being run over by a hotdog cart and in the hospital with a concussion, while there she realises that she can see and talk to a ghost of a woman who desperately needs here help to take care of unfinished business so she can rest in peace. Hilarity ensues as phoebe tries to juggle work, an interfering ghost and did I mention she just got engaged to a man with an over bearing mother? Edie is the ghost haunting phoebe, she believes someone murdered her and stole her will, she is a wonderfully flamboyant character and is the perfect antithesis to phoebe who strives to be perfect and please everyone, edie only exists to please herself and her nephew.
This is my second favourite genre to read and I think Nikki Le Clair has done a great job and is well on her way to standing next to me heroes like Janet evanovich, I do love authors who can write such strong female characters. The only bad thing I can say is that the sometimes their was a little too much description of the environment, but given how well the book is written this is a minor note. Honestly the relationship between phoebe and edie reminds me of my relationship with my grandmother which is a beautiful thing, and I’m glad of the reminder.

What do you do when you have it all, a budding legal career a good boyfriend and a large flat in the city? For Phoebe you would think she was happy on the outside she has everything, on the inside she constantly questions if she has made the right choices. She jumped it t law on a whim because her siblings are already happy and successful, but more days she feels like a go-fer than a legal assistant. Her boyfriend Riley is smart sweet and kind of controlling but is everything her previous boyfriend Dylan was not. It appears his parents hate her and she isn’t quite sure why. Riley’s lunchtime proposal changes everything.

Then there is the minor mishap with the hot dog cart which puts Phoebe in the hospital with scrapes bruises and a minor concussion which puts her out of work for a week or two except she refuses. The concussion isn’t the only thing she gains though, she can now see and hear Edie a ghost who died in the same hospital room she was put in and swears she was killed by Phoebe’s boss. So not only is he controlling he is also a possible murdered and adulterer. Phoebe must help Edie get to the bottom of her murder and find her missing will.

This book was a delightful and funny read. Edie reminds me of my husband’s grandmother always quick to say exactly what she was thinking. I hope to read more from this author soon.

Haunting Me by Nikki LeClair is book one in her Haunting Me Series. This is a story about Phoebe Mercer, who has everything a girl could want or so it seems. The perfect boyfriend, good job, great friends and family. One day things take an unexpected turn when an accident leaves Phoebe seeing more than just the objects around her. Suddenly she’s second guessing everything in her life. But wouldn’t you do the same if you woke up seeing a ghost? Now she’s running around trying to solve a mystery for her new ghost friend that threatens all the good things in her life. Can she figure out the answers to the mystery before it’s too late, and can she answer her own questions to her life problems?
This book is filled with mystery, humor and a little romance. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m happy to say I can’t wait to read more. I like everything about this book from the story line to the amazing characters. The story has a nice pace set to it not leaving you feeling like its dragging on. Each character is well thought out and you get the feel of each’s personality! At times, I found myself laughing out loud at some of the antics that are played out. I give this a five-star rating since it is truly a page turning story. I recommend this to anyone looking for a humorous mystery book with light romance through in also.

Haunting Me is Nikki LeClair’s debut novel and the first book of the Haunting Me series! Oh my goodness, she has perfectly combined chick flick, I mean chick lit and mystery and it grabs you from the beginning! What do you expect when the lead of the story gets run over by a HOT DOG CART!
Nikki spins a great story that gives us all the stuff that we crave – humour, emotional rollercoaster, romance, conflicts and … a ghost! Well, I don’t know if we crave a ghost when we start reading but when picking up a book called “haunting me”, well, we do expect a ghost AND she gives us one that we absolutely love! Edie simply cracked me up, she was persistent, unruly and oh so entertaining!
Haunting Me is a story of Phoebe Mercer who works really hard for her goal of becoming a lawyer, has a self-centred boyfriend, sorry, a fiancé who has decided to go vegan, a cheating boss from hell and some great best friends and a quirky family! AND the whole story takes place in New York … So, knowing all this, you can hopefully imagine what a fantastic read this story is, you get dragged along on a ride to solve a mystery against your will and once you let go and settle in for the ride … you will absolutely enjoy it! It is such a hoot of a story and I have the second book already lined up and will be spending my weekend with it!
