** This book is not yet published, but COMING August 22, 2016! **
Devils Only It was a permanent note-to-self tattooed right above Kameo Kross's panties, because anything less was a disappointment. Had anyone cared to issue the warning: Be careful what you wish for, she might have thought twice before wording it like an actual invitation.
Kami doesn't fear pain, death or eternal damnation. She fears only submitting completely. A matter she usually has well in hand… until an unexpected detour into kink and a relentless bastard of a new boss decide to put all of her resistance—and chosen ink—to the trickiest of tests.
Cliffhanger Warning: This is the First of Three novellas and ends in an abrupt cliffhanger.
Content Warning: This series/book contains unorthodox religious views, graphic sex, explicit language, dark eroticism that borders on non-consensual sexual acts, BDSM, violence and references to demonology, paganism and the occult. Intended for mature 18+ audiences ONLY!

Philosophers are greedy for more knowledge, missionaries are greedy for more sheep to add to their flock, so despite all of the 'virtuous' things they do, greed is still a major motive behind their actions. The world is run by avarice. It's the foundation beneath every aspect of our existence.
Kameo “Kami” Kross lives for Halloween—it’s the time of the year she really allows herself to feel free and without reservation. When she catches the eye of a “bull man” with an intricate mask she oozes excitement. To her horror though, she doesn’t remember her Halloween night. When Kami has random flashbacks of the bull man she can’t stop the arousal that courses over her body. Arousal that doesn’t need to come out at inopportune times such as starting a new job!
When I first read the scene of Kami entering financial tycoon M.W. Kress’ office I almost groaned internally- not another billionaire man-boy romance! Thank god I was pleasantly surprised and the dynamic in this book is off the charts!!! There are several plot lines weaved together where much isn’t revealed yet but I do have my predictions.
Every encounter Kami has in this book is phenomenally sexy and a little dangerous. Some of the scenes I read were probably the hottest erotic scenes I’ve read in a while. I’d love to share more but this is one you’ll want to read without knowing TOO much!
Kami is a fun and alluring character with a down to earth side to her as well. She’s a heroine the reader can really root for—real, raw, and going through realistic struggles both internally and externally. I’m excited to continue with her on her journey to find out more about the bull man. Overall, an amazing and well-written novella. A.C. Melody is a new to me author and I absolutely adore the writing style- its fast paced and a little bit of a “dramedy”. 5 stars xx
"It's the Witching Hour, angel. Time to let the Devil inside."
4.5 Stars I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
OMG!!!!! This is my first book by this author and WOW... I just loved this book!!!! There was so much going on with the characters and this awesome chemistry between Kami and M.W. Kress (aka her boss).
I must note that this was labelled as a 'dark erotica' I have to say it didn't fit into that category in my mind. There were definitely some interesting scenes but it wasn't dark in the way I thought it was going to be, but that's okay because I still really enjoyed the story.
The only thing that really kept this from being a five star book for me was this haze of lust that washed over Kami when she'd get little blips of memories back from her birthday...'celebration'. I could understand getting hot and bothered, but not this uncontrollable craze that seemed to happen to her.
However, that being said, I loved that she had this secret side of her and her crazy roommate with her social media job and employees. It was a fun little quirk to the story that helped draw me in with the real details of someone's life.
'Avarice' by A.C. Melody was advertised as being dark erotica and ‘not for the faint of heart.' Since I’m a fan of this genre and not one to cringe fast, I was looking forward to reading this book. I could only hope my expectations would be fulfilled.
The book deals with Kameo (Kami) Kross. She’s had a tough life and is still struggling to make ends meet and to find a decent place in life. She also literally tries to find a decent place to live, since she’s living with her friend and roommate Zoe in a not very large and well-tended apartment. She’s not stupid; she has gotten a degree to find a job where she can make decent money and make a better living for herself. All she needs now is an internship.
Kami applies for an internship at the company she dreams of working for: Kress & Wolfe Financial, owned for a large part by New York’s most eligible bachelor M.W. Kress. However, since Mr. Kress senses that Kameo would make for serious competition once out in the financial world, instead of taking her on as his intern, he takes her on as his personal assistant. That’s when the fun starts. Besides work, Kami holds interest for kinky sex, and every once in a while she meets up with a Dominant, who will play with her and satisfies her cravings for her wilder sides. Once, during Halloween, she spends the night with such a Dominant but afterward she cannot seem to remember much of the night, only getting hot flashes and very intense flashbacks of what happened. The relationship between Kami and Mr. Kress develops nicely in this book. There certainly is much tension between them, yet it never reaches a culmination of any kind. That is mainly because this is only Book One of more to come.
I loved reading this book. It takes a couple of pages to get into the story, but once you’re in it, you want to know what’s going to happen. The sexual tension between the characters is tangible and very well built up. The story is well-written, and the sex scenes that are there are enticing and hot. The last sex scene in the book is certainly not for the faint of heart, but if you can stomach that, I would certainly recommend this book. I was definitely not disappointed and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I was drawn into Avarice from the start. Kameo Kross is an incomplete puzzle. From the tragic circumstances surrounding her birth, to her obsession with Halloween, to her tattoo that throws down the gauntlet and issues a provocative challenge. We have several pieces of the puzzle – but none of them fit together. Kami’s submissive nature leads her on a still unfulfilled search for the ultimate…? Even she can’t put a name on what she’s looking for, but knows she’ll know when she finds it. But WHY does she feel this thirst for pain? Does her birth make her feel unworthy? Is she punishing herself for living?
Kami’s Halloween tryst with ‘Bull Man’ makes me anxious. Why can’t she remember what happened? Why does she only have flashes of that night at certain times? She also doesn’t remember exchanging numbers with Master D, but eagerly rushes to an evening of submission with him. Then there’s MW Kress – evidently God’s gift to the world of finance, and all things male and dominant. His reasons for hiring Kami made me immediately dislike him, and that 24/7 required availability sent my fertile mind into overdrive! Now he’s getting up close and personal and looking forward to the end of her probation? Um, why pray tell? What’s his game? And is there a connection between Kress, Master D and Bull Man? Will Kami’s roommate, Zoe, give in to temptation and tell all with a social media blast? What does Kami TRULY want? (I know I want a drink!)
Um, Kami’s last visit to see Master D – WTH? I cringed through most of it…and I couldn’t stop reading! Love how Kami got pissed off and ballsy…but I did not see that ending coming! Hopefully though, I’ll see BOOK TWO soon! *Nods to author*
A strong, well developed plot with complex characters challenges the reader to complete this puzzle, and you definitely have your work cut out for you.
I had the pleasure to beta read this first part of a trilogy, and once I got to the end, I offered to beta read the rest as well. I just had to know what happens next!
Kameo "Kami" Kross ranks among my favorite female characters in fiction. She's intelligent, sassy, ambitious - and a pain junkie. She can't stand vanilla men and instead wants proper torture, but only when it fits her schedule.
"What level of pain were you looking for, princess?"
Of course, her immediate desire had been all or nothing. High, high, high... then she'd remembered that she couldn't spend the next week in bed.
"Medium. I start a new job Monday and can't take the time to recuperate."
Kami's new boss, the handsome and elusive M.W. Kress, is the CEO of Kress & Wolfe...among other things. Kami and Mr. Kress kind of get along, but he's a very exacting boss and Kami wonders if working for him is in her best interest, after all. This is a dark paranormal romance, but I love how subtle the paranormal element is in this book. The author doesn't spill the beans in chapter one; you only notice as you read on that something odd is going on. This books also hosts two of the most intense BDSM scenes I've ever read. Like, holy smokes! Not for the faint of heart.
Avarice ends in a major whopper of a cliffhanger, but I happen to know that this trilogy is already written to the end and just waiting for the final edits. So if you're wondering if it's worthwhile to commit to this series - yes. Also, this book made me a fan of AC Melody, so if you're planning to read one book by this author, I suggest you pick this one.
HOLY COW what a book. I picked this up thinking it was going to be a good Dark Read. Which it was but it was so much more. The plot is intertwined with a mysterious paranormal aspect that will keep the reader on their toes. I don't do spoilers so I won't get heavily into the plot but trust me when I say the author has a wonderfully twisted why with a pen (and I mean that in a very good way).
The story follows Kameo's life. She was born to a druggie that died giving her birth but before she died she had the strength to write "kill it" in blood on the wall of the alley where she gave birth. Kami believes she is destined to be unworthy especially in love and sex (she his always left unsatisfied like something is missing) even when she turns to kink and craves the pleasure of pain. Kami is completely fearless other than totally submitting to anyone and always speaks her mind. But when she gets hired to be a PA for a sexy dominate man that seems to know what she's thinking before she does, things start to go terribly wrong or right depending on who's side you look at it from. The story is absolutely mind blowing and toe curling and as stated ends on a cliffhanger. But knowing book 2 is coming soon helps. If you like mystery, suspense, a sense of paranormal with just the right about of humor thrown in.. your gonna love it..
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have been debating on what my rating for this book would be and I would give it a 3 1/2 star review so I rounded up to 4. This is the very first of A.C. Melody's books that I have ever read and I have to say, I will be coming back for more. A.C. Melody did what not many people can do, they didn't fall into the curse of the novella. This book is 114 pages on my nook. Generally, when I read a book that is less than 200 pages I do not feel connected to the characters, this was a rare occurrence where I found the characters enduring.
I tend to love myself a good dark & gritty romance and this was a lot of fun to read. The humor in here had me smiling and the characters were well done. My only critic was the ending but then again, the ending is what has me wanting to read the next book.
Ultimately, I enjoyed the book and I cannot wait for the next one in the series.
Received a *Complimentary Copy* from the author for a honest review. *So glad that I did!!!*
OH MY GOD!!!! I'm still reeling! Wonder if there's even a term such as 'Reader Sub Space?' I'm going to have to 'beg' the author for the next installment …Yes, this book was THAT good!
ALL my senses are on overload! The story-line was creative, well-versed and simply diabolical! *I mean that as a high praise*
I have never revealed spoilers and the temptation to do so for this AMAZING book is great!!!\
There's Suspense, Contemporary Romance, BDSM themes (written with such HEAT) and as you keep delving into the story, there's always a PNR element that keeps popping up but it's done in such a way that you're left wondering "Where" and "When."
I truly recommend AVARICE to ALL readers/bloggers!!!
'Avarice' by A.C. Melody is advertised as being dark erotica and so I couldn’t wait to read it.
The heroine is Kameo (Kami) Kross. We learn that the day she was born it was in some very tragic circumstances and as a result she has a dark cloud haunting her very existence. Which is a bit of foreshadowing although it takes reading book 2 to get the rest of the puzzle pieces. The first scence is about her and her roommate going out on Halloween. She is in to some kinky stuff, just not a relationship so while most people would be running from a strange masked man she leaves the club with him and his entourage. The we jump 6 months later where she is looking for a job and goes on an interview at her dream company; Kress & Wolfe Financial. Turns out that she gets hired as the owner’s PA. Unfortunately, her new boss M.W. Kress is very demanding and sparks something in her.
I don’t want to say more to spoil the ride, but it definitely leaves you wanting more since not all the puzzle is revealed in this book. There is a whole ending about some Phaedra which is confusing to me since I don’t know the first thing about what the author is referring to.
The story was a bit choppy, but I think that is intentional since things are not as they seem and bits and pieces are being revealed and you don’t know how they fit together yet. So while I enjoyed the story and typically I love suspense, this one was a bit hard to get lost in. I was focusing too much on trying to put things together that I couldn’t fully enjoy the ride.
