Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
IT’S AMAZING WHAT THE LORD CAN DO ONCE YOU LEARN TO GET OUT OF HIS WAY
I enjoyed this emotional Christian western romance. Jack Carlson was blinded months before the Civil War ended, to him, he is so bitter, angry and cynical that he wish his life had ended instead of being left helpless. To say he is having a pity party is true, but for a man in the 1860s, he is limited, especially considering her had a bright future. With no family left, only one cousin and his wife willing to help, he winds up in Cutter’s Creek, Montana with Reverend Howard and Mary Latsch. Willow Bennett has lost everyone she loved due to the war and her options are limited, she decides to become a mail-order bride. What a shock to have one of the men be Jack Carlson, but could it be the same one, her brother’s friend that she has had feelings for since she was only a child? No matter what, she is excited about starting a new life, having a husband and hopefully children.
The plot of the story kept me captivated and the pages turning as Willow travels to Cutter’s Creek and discovers many hidden secrets about her intended and who penned the letters to her. This is an emotional story and a reminder that the Lord works in mysterious ways. For Jack and Willow, maybe He thought they could bring each other comfort. There is a great cast of characters, heartwarming dialog and a good amount of thoughtful dialog. “Good things come to those who wait.” The story does not end on a cliffhanger, no as an introduction into the other Cutter’s Creek stories, but with another possible story in the near future of Emma, Jack’s sister, that is being tracked by hired man, Lucius Judrow.
Very delightful and cute story that takes place just after the civil war. Young lady named Willow answers add for a mail order bride half way across the country. Once arriving at Cutters Creek she finds that things are not going the way she thought they would. In fact the intended groom Jack has no idea why she is there. I thought the flow of the story was very good. I loved the dialogue between the characters in the story. Very humorous. I enjoyed this story . Would recommend it to anyone who reads Historical Christian Fiction. Kit Morgan is a new to me author. I will plan to read more of her book in this series.
Jack and Willow have weaved a stitch into my heart and my very soul which will never unravel. Ms. Kit Morgan writes with such grace and decorum, I truly felt God’s presence helping these two lost souls find their forever-after. Trials, tribulations, and heartache, Jack and Willow will learn to forgive and over come the tragic hand dealt to each of them. God works Miracles for everyone, we just have to be willing to follow and trust where he leads. Absolutely an amazing book by Ms. Kit Morgan, she is masterful at incorporating humor within this book, which only showcases these wonderful characters. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
So Kit Morgan is the author that I stumbled across last year that introduced me to the whole mail order bride/western historical romance/kindle book thing. I have loved everything that I've read by her and this is no different. You really can't go wrong reading any book by Kit Morgan.
Short, slow, and predictable. Had trouble connecting with the characters. It's too bad, because I really wanted to like this one. It just wasn't for me.
That Healing Touch is the first in the clean and sweet Western Historical series, Cutter’s Creek. It is a long running (twenty titles as of this date), multiple author series that showcases the pioneer days right after the Civil War when America was growing, and healing from the devastating results of war.
Jack Carlson knew the results of war. Didn’t really matter if you were on the winning end or not, the damage done would last a lifetime. Jack lost his eyesight near the very end of the Civil War. Once a young man full of hopes and dreams of the future, now he’s blind, bitter, angry and at a loss as to what his life will mean now. Feeling abandoned by most of his family he’s settled in Cutter’s Creek, Montana with his cousin and his wife. He should be learning his way around this new way of living but his bitterness has dampened any desire to do more than mope. The one thing that does hold his attention is his need to learn braille – the faster the better. As to those dreams of wife and family – they don’t exist for him any more. How could he protect and provide for a family as he is now. No, love is beyond his comprehension at the moment.
Willow Bennett also has known the damages that the war has brought to her own family. She once had dreams of a family, with her secret love, Jack Carlson as the man who would love her for the rest of their lives. Of course Jack never knew of her dreams, she was merely his best friend’s little sister. Now Willow is alone in the world, her family victims of the war, in one manner or another. Her only real hope of that future is by gathering up her faith and courage and setting out as a mail order bride. What she discovers at the end of that journey West will encourage, sadden, test her faith and bring her the greatest joy. All she has to do is change one man’s attitude toward life – and get him to admit that he loves her, too.
I enjoyed Willow and Jack’s romance. They are quite opposite in how they are dealing with loss. And to be quite frank, Jack can be quite the jerk at times. His blindness is no excuse for his behavior. Willow will do everything in her power to help him, but in the end it’s Jack who must make the choice to live life once again… and make those dreams of theirs come true.
I would recommend That Healing Touch for any reader who enjoys sweet and clean romances in the Western Historical genre. This story lays the foundation for the rest of the series as we begin to know the townsfolk and get a feel for this small town. No cliffhangers, this is a complete story with the hint of a future story as Jack has hired a bounty hunter to search for his missing sister.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Clean historical Western fiction with two childhood friends find each other with a mail-order wife plot with a blind war veteran and a destitute orphan. Jack Carlson was blinded in Civil War and it now has taken up every aspect of his life that he wallows a bit in self pity. Jack is very lucky to have a great cousin that has taken him in and is trying to help him find some independence but that cousin also behind Jack's back sent away for a mail-order bride to take care of him. Willow Bennett recognizes Jack's name immediately as her childhood crush so she takes her chances and hops on the stagecoach to start a new life. The usual reluctant courtship unfolds in this story. Not re-inventing the wheel in this book , but a cute quick clean read. 181 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
Set in Montana in 1866, That Healing Touch, the first book in the multiple author Cutter’s Creek series, is a light yet emotional read. This historical western romance features Jack Carlson and Willow Bennett who are both struggling to overcome the devastation they suffered from the Civil War. Jack lost his eyesight which left him bitter and hopeless. Willow lost her family and decides to become a mail order bride. Their story beautifully combines drama, humor, romance, and faith to produce an enjoyable, page-turning reading experience. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Morgan. I like her style and look forward to reading more of her works. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it especially for fans of clean western romance.
I really love sweet, feel good stories as well as movies. The big problem with them is you have this good show with some problem, tension, or suspense for most of the show and then in the last 5 minutes everything gets fixed. This book was just the same. You read along and the male lead is being a putz and then he did a complete 180 degree turn and I was like "wait, what happened there" and then the book was over. So, the problem is - the ending was way too quick and the book was finished. If you like those sort of movies, great. If not, pass on this book as well. For me, the quick ending ruined the book. Not an author I'm likely to follow.
Jack Carlson spied for the union army for four years. Now he's blind. He seeks refuge in Cutter’s Creek, Montana as an angry person. His cousin, the local preacher, sends off for a mail-order bride for Jack. Willow Bennett has been in love with the same man all her life. As a young girl, she followed Jack Carlson and his friends until they managed to outrun her. She's surprised when she becomes a mail-order bride and discovers Jack is her intended. I felt bad for Jack and wondered how I would react if I lost my sight. Willow is an interesting character, wanting love. Good story.
Willow signed up to be a mail-order bride and discovered her future husband was a man she had loved when she was a child, a friend of her older brother. The problem was, Jack didn’t “order” a bride. His cousin and wife did it without telling him! What a story! As a side research, I looked up to see what New York Point was all about. A forerunner of Braille was talked about in the story. It was an interesting article:
Kit Morgan gets a solid 4 STARS for her The Healing Touch Cutter's Creek......) her emotional packed Novella of a Civil War Vet who is blinded in the war who ends up with an childhood friend's sister, as a Mail-order Wife sent for by his Pastor cousin. It is emotional in parts and funny in others, and an all around enjoyable read. FYI: This Vet's life could actually be from any war. WARNING: 16 & UP SEX : CLEAN & no Curse Words
This is the second book in the Cutter's Creek series. I began with Vivi Holt's books in the series and realized when she mentioned a blind man in the town I must be missing other books. So I did some research and found this book which is about Jack who is blind from a Civil War wound and Willow who has been having a difficult time since the War. This was a very enjoyable story.
Predictable romance that will satisfy those who want something on the sweeter side rather than the erotic. I thought they went from fighting to “I love you and let’s get married” too fast, personally... and the book was so short anyway. It could’ve lasted another 50 pages and would’ve been worth it to have more of that transition fleshed out... but it is what it is. A little cheesy, a little cliche, but overall a sweet and satisfying story.
I received this book free from one of the book sites. I do not remember which one! This is my honest review. What I really like is that this book is one that simply lets you read & enjoy without a lot of useless side stories getting in the way. A simple love story that shows having faith and hope are so very important. I highly recommend this book.
5 stars I purchased the novella Cutter's Creek Book 1: That Healing Touch by Kit Morgan and this review was given freely. After the war,Jack returns to Cutter Creek blind and depressed only to be saved by his Pastor Cousin and a surprise mail order bride, Willow. This is a well written poignant second chance at love sweet romance filled with emotions, forgiveness, and love.
Lovely story. Willow has loved Jack all of her life, but the man she meets is bitter due to losing his sight. Eventually he lets her love him, and due to a misunderstanding she nearly leaves, until Jack professes his love for her also. A story of love, forgiveness and letting go of anger. A joy to read
I love the characters in this book. Jack is wallowing In self pity because he is blind and has been rejected by most of his family. Willow is to be his salvation. His cousin Harold and wife,Mary, bring Jack and Willow together. Their story proves that God does work in mysterious ways.
It was nice reading ...willow comes as mailorder bride but become his assistant....from there it was nice reading how they come close ...n made peace with God too...lastly hope fully their is story continued in next book of what happens of emma n....that bounty hunter....other than it was much needed healing touch for that war hero....
Interesting read, reveals some of how the civil war affected those involved either directly or indirectly. Jack lost his sight in the war and has become bitter and depressed about that loss. Unknown to him, his cousin sends for a mail-order bride for him. The woman who answers the ad happens to be the sister of an old friend. With her help, Jack starts to reclaim both his faith and his life.
I loved this book ! I've always loved reading mail order bride books . Could be because of my grandmother's story . She was a mail order bride and Kit brings out the same feeling that I got from lessoning to my grandmother's story.
Very good story of two shattered lives that learn all will work out. I was disappointed that a resolution to find Emma was not in the ending. I do hope her story will be forthcoming.
I very much enjoyed this book. The different individuals were very well described. Not ever reading about someone going blind as an adult from fighting in an ear was very interesting.
I enjoyed this story with it's journey through the centuries by Mikhail, the Russian Dragon shifter. I like the adventures with the gems and the gemologist Piper Linwood, who ended up getting more than she bargained for... A good fun read.
I got the impression that Jack was angry with God but he mentioned the Lord's way of doing things, a lot, like he wasn't angry and even thanked Him at some point. And I don't find the last part funny where Jack was proposing and everyone laughed so hard.
I really enjoyed the storyline in this book. I loved the time period. Jack and Willow have a lot of trials to overcome. There is also some humor in the story. Romance is key to the story.
This is a delightful book about a man and a woman being brought together after knowing each other during their childhood. The story has more twists and turns as they learn more about how to combat a disability and a misunderstanding!
