In an attempt to control and decrease population, a mutated form of the measles is released. As a precaution, an assurance plan is placed in motion. A sampling of mankind is hidden away in a protective bunker, placed in stasis, where they will sleep through the entire event. They are set to awaken one year later to a perfectly balanced world. Not all goes as planned.

Sadly, only a few survive the stasis process. They recall very little. All they know is that they are in a lab and a clock on a door appears to be counting down.

They are not ready for what is ahead when the door opens. The group emerges into a barren world. They split up and plan a time and place to meet again. Quickly, they learn that not only those immune to the extinction level plague are behind a walled city called, Salvation, but they were in stasis for thirty years.

The search for the fate of their families and Salvation City commences with each group going in different directions. The journey is not easy. The stasis survivors face obstacles and horrors of the post apocalypse world, along with answers they are ill prepared to face.

Such a great story. Was really hoping there would be a third book, but the Epilogue at the end pretty much made it clear that this was the end of the Genisis Gang. I thought the ending was a wee bit rushed, but I can forgive that (as well as all the editing errors, but that didn't bother me). Overall, this was an awesome set of books. This was my first time reading anything by Jacqueline Druga, but I now have a bunch of her book on my To-Read list. Can't wait to get through them!

Love her writing

Really love her writing and stories are amazing. I just wish she would could slow down and proofread her work. Normally I can just look past them but this book was so full of errors with extra commas, missing letters and words switched around that it made difficult at times to figure out who or what she was describing. I love her books, I really do and her apocalyptic stories are so thought provoking makes me want run out and start prepping for the end of the world haha.

Great story

I really enjoyed this two book series. The characters draw you in and make you want to know more about them. Being woke after 30 years to a totally different world, I couldn’t imagine the strength it would take to go on.
Living close to Jacksonville, Illinois I was surprised to find mention of it ! Even the location of the Walmart is truly accurate.

I had to give this 5 stars because this book and the 1st were an amazing series. The plot was unique and well told, in spite of a number of writing errors. The author always has characters that are very engaging and this book is no different.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked the recap right at the beginning. I read this book immediately after finishing the first book so although I didn't need the recap, I'm glad it was there for other readers.

The world building was very good. I I liked how real places, businesses and landmarks were used, it made it a lot easier to become immerin the story. I would've liked to explore the land more, to see if there were any other communities etc.

The pacing was good, although I felt like it slowed down a few times here and there.

I liked the new characters that were introduced and I would've liked to read from their POVs too. Especially Hunter, because he's one of the first generations to be born after the nuclear war and so he is different. His people have other ways to communicate and live.

The ending was ok. It tied up the plot nicely, although there was one thing that came out of the blue with no explanations, which didn't really make sense to me.

As Always Great

Who was Maggie? Gosh they have to bury John but who was Maggie? Anyway I always love Druga books. Yes, grammer errors and all her stories are great. At times frustrating, like we have to bury John but who was Maggie and when did she die? I do hate that. I went back reread, still don't know. Two books, no Maggie. Lol

Book #2

Waited impatiently for this book to come out. One thing about Ms. Druga's books, her characters persevere. No matter what there is a solution to every problem. Enjoyable read.

Always interesting

I have read all of her books. While it is true that a n editor or even a.proof reader would be helpful, her characters are always believable and keep your interest.

Wow. Well written. I loved the characters. Ms. Durga knows how to tell a story. It was a very dark and poignant book but in a good way.

Talk about leaving everything until the last moment of the book. This dragged for me from about 25% to 75%, but I wanted to know the ending so I stuck with it. Overall blah.

Second book in the series and quite a good read. I can't be as harsh as some reviewers regarding the editing of this story but yes, the editing sucks, but I enjoyed It and personally I don't think it needs another one in the series. Sometimes in life it's time to move on and that's where I think this book should happily end.

Wonderful

Even better than book one. Became really invested and all the characters. Almost had a panic attack at the end. Was so afraid some of my new friends would not make it. A must-read.

Very Touching Two Book Series

After finishing the second and final book of the "Salvation" series, the first thing I want to say is that I was very happy with the way Jacqueline Druga summed everything up. There was a real sense of finality that many books just don't have.

My favorite thing about "Reset" and now "Salvation" would have to be the main characters of the story - those who woke up from stasis after thirty years to a very different world than the one they were forced to leave behind. When they woke up Nora, John, Malcolm, Maggie and the others had no idea where they were, how long they were out, or what had happened to their families. It would have had to be terrifying. That's what made them so real; and why it made it so easy to really care about what happened to them and how they ended up. The plot was very well written and developed.

As with "Reset," I have only one real complaint - these books could have really used a good editor, or even a second rereading by the author. There were a number of sentences that made little sense; and at times it was slightly confusing. A couple of times I had to go back and read the section a second time to understand exactly what was being said. Luckily, I could still understand what the author was trying to say. If not for the fact that the book itself really was amazing and impossible to put down, I would have taken away a star for the lack of editing; but it really was that good.

Anyone should be able to enjoy this short series - no matter whether you are young or old - and I definitely suggest you give it a try. This is especially true if you like to read apocalyptic thrillers. For the most part, I personally read mainly zombie apocalypse series, but I am so glad I went slightly out of my comfort zone and gave this one a try. Unlike zombies, a genetically engineered super virus could easily wipe out most of the world's population in the blink of an eye; and this is what makes "Salvation" so terrifying.

Even with the slight editing issues I look forward to reading more books written by Jacqueline Druga in the future!

Perfect follow-up...

Great characters, good storyline, lots of action. A Jacqueline Druga book is always a good read.
Post apocalyptic tale of people in stasis for 30 years while a virus ravages our world. When they awaken everyone is gone, cities destroyed ...where are the survivors, if any?
Ah, but they haven't found "Salvation" yet and maybe it's better if they don't look..
Ms. Druga is one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints...

Good story

Enjoyed this book a lot, but it had a few grammatical errors and spelling mistakes so it loses a star.

I will definitely read more by the same author.
