As an erotic novel, Candlelight City works. The writing is stimulating; the characters are well drawn; and the plot moves forward at a good pace. The only beef I have with it is that it requires a very high suspension of disbelief because of the public nature of some of the sex scenes. I realize that almost all erotic writing is fantasy, but just a little mention of, say, a recent court case overturning the local public decency laws would have gone a long way toward making these situations somewhat believable. I mean, how did our heroines and heroes not get arrested multiple times? I have read some of this author's later stories, and those stories don't seem to have this problem. And it is those other stories that will keep me on the lookout for more of her work...
This book requires a certain suspension of belief. However it is very well written, the lead character Suzie is just adorable and overall it is absolutely a value for money purchase in terms of sheer entertainment and quality of writing.
I think this author is an exciting new literary talent and I genuinely enjoy her other newer work posted online. I wish her the best.
Jessica TVH has written so much marvellous, believable erotica with strong and consistent characters that this was a bit of a disappointment. The sex is excellent, really hot, but the events broke my suspension of disbelief and the heroine wasn't credible. It really is a porn movie in words.
Her other more recent books are way, way better, getting the reader completely absorbed and fishing up the hot stuff too.
And I don't find non consensual or humiliation fun.
