Prayers of Honoring

Rate this book
Prayers of Honoring was written for sharing from the heart with others during vital times.

In western culture, we keep too many things to ourselves. Prayer, among other things, has become a private practice for those of us who don't congregate for spiritual purposes. Our language for connection to something greater than ourselves has become truncated to basic iterations and generalized affirmations. Perhaps this is so that no one will be offended by our approach, or so our spiritual personalities- who we are when we talk to and reach for God- can remain under a cloak of mystery and intrigue. Maybe it has something to do with our collective intolerance for vulnerability.

Prayers of Honoring is an expression of creative, environmental, energetic and spiritual possibilities. When we're open to receive the heart's intelligence, we offer acceptance to ourselves and others and shift our patterns of isolation and loneliness. The challenge is to share ourselves and our words without fearing we're doing it wrong.

Prayer is very much still a sullied concept. To some ears, the word "prayer" results in triggersome memories whether personal or cultural/collective. The bitter taste of yesterday's experiences of over-organized religions, forced practice, penance, rigid disciplines bearing harsh consequences, and heavy-handed authorities on the laws of God, leave little room for welcoming prayer back into the heart, home and psyche.
Prayers of Honoring can help an individual overcome prayer trauma and begin to speak the words of spirit from the heart out loud again.

This author was referenced in a workshop I attended by author Christena Cleveland. I used this book as morning meditations and really appreciated the author’s unique perspective as an indigenous woman who attends to the spiritual experience of being human. The book was set up as four parts, following the directions (N,S, E,W) and the seasons and included journal prompts and space to write. I liked how the author’s language was expansive and allowed for people of many faith traditions and backgrounds to better connect with the divine/God within the beauty of creation and our complex human experience. I plan to revisit these meditations in the future.

Very Soothing

Just as her other “offerings on the altar of the globe…” these prayers are beyond inspiring, because they are inspired from beyond. And that is clear from the moment the first (electronic) page turns. Because of this book, i was catapulted into the necessary introduction to the language and ideas i needed to FEEL productive in my pursuit of moving forward in the grief of decades of ignoring.

While this offering gives a broader scope of terminology to walk a broader scope of seekers through the many doors open to us all to live as if ALL are ONE. What i appreciate with these books is that i am reading at my pace (which is fast), with the confidence that these pages will NEVER be one and done. As many times as I’ve read the Bible, or listened to Wu-Tang, i will be returning to Pixie Lighthorse’s entire library!

I encourage everyone who can read this far, to take the dive…the healing waters are magnificent!

I loved this book. I don't know if I'll ever finish reading it. It is written by the season, and each page is a prayer. It almost felt like an oracle, each time I opened it the page I read was spot on. And each page felt like it needed to be read over and over to take it in. So now that I'm done, I'll start again!

I love how these prayers are written.
A book I will come back to, will reread, and sit with the words many more times.

Totally beautiful .

I love this book, it brings me back to myself and all that is deeply important and the rich beauty of the Earth and all her abundance. I have read this time and again and find new wisdom every time. This is a real treasure that should be read and shared. Pixie Lighthorse speaks with depth and a unique understanding of the earth and the elements. Highly recommended.
