3.5 stars. This was an enjoyable read.
Menage was a little off balance. Weakest link was Nyle's lack of attraction and submission to Alpha Tre. This part of the trio relationship was not as developed. Also, the final sex scene, where all three shifters came together and Nyle was bonded, was rushed and needed a tad more page time.
Dennis' inability to smell Nyle as his mate was a plot hole.

The focus of this eighth book in the ‘Scent of a Mate’ series is Tre, another one of the many Marshall brothers who is struggling to find his feet now that the evil Alpha Aldo Marshall is out of the picture. But as much as the cruel bast*rd is dead, the consequences of what he did are still affecting many people, and some of the men and women he worked with are trying to maintain his legacy. Blackthorn Pride is still in disarray and Tre, much against his wishes, has been assigned as their alpha by the Feline Council.
Tre may be the alpha of Blackthorn Pride against his will, but now that he has taken over, he does the best job he can. But even a loyal and capable beta is not enough for him to become a success, so when a man storms into his office telling him he is a “perfect” personal assistant, Tre would, if things were normal, probably interview him. Instead, the quirky man called Dennis turns out to be Tre’s mate. Tre has no issue with that, but before they can settle down, things take a turn for the worse.
Dennis is an omega who spent five years being “trained” and told what to do. He has had enough of that, and is determined to get away from Nyle, a man who keeps stalking him, telling him he is his mate. Dennis would much rather be Alpha Tre’s mate, but deep down he does realize Nyle has a valid claim. But being stubborn and willful is part of Dennis’s DNA, so he isn’t going to make things easy for anyone.
Nyle is desperate to make Dennis his own. He has known Dennis is his mate for a while, but demanding his obedience is not working – much to his despair. Nyle has no clue what to do, and finding out he is also mated to Tre only makes things more complicated. Or maybe not – because Tre seems to have a better idea of how to handle their problem and maybe it’s time for Nyle to learn how to listen.
The situation between these three newly mated – and still struggling - men is already complicated enough, but it gets much worse when Dennis runs and ends up in catacombs nobody knew about. Someone has been working on a secret that will cause endless pain and suffering for omega shifters and submissive humans alike. It is enough to force Tre, Nyle, and Dennis to figure out how to work together, but that doesn’t make it easier for the three stubborn guys. It did make for a very adventurous and entertaining story for me to read!
If you like stories about unwilling alphas who find out they have two mates, if you’re up for a suspenseful story full of threats, secrets, and violence, and if you’re looking for an action-packed read that is as intense as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella.

So here I am with the latest installment in Stormy Glenn's 'Scent of a Mate' series and since its been a month since I had my last fix, I was super jazzed to get back to this favorite group of brothers and their mates. 'Tre's Temptations' is about Tre, Dennis, and Nyle, and wow was there an awful lot going on. I already liked Tre because how could I not? He's another of Aldo's "son’s" and he has the same honor, courage, loyalty, and fabulousness I've already seen in his brothers.
Dennis I can truly only use the author's own words to describe. Suffice to say I loved him just as much as the other omegas, but I'd already experienced Dennis in the previous book. "When the door opened and a short man with the most unruly carrot-colored hair he had ever seen stepped inside, Tre was mesmerized. Aroused. As little man bounced across the room to stand in front of his desk, Tre was pretty sure the rest of his day had just gone to shit. He didn’t need bouncy. He needed a drink." See? Sometimes the author's description is just the best.
Nyle. Hmm. I didn't care for him at the beginning. He's done nothing but hound and scare Dennis about them being mates no matter how many times Dennis told him no. He was very arrogant in the beginning - "This was not how Nyle saw his mating going. Dennis was an omega. He should have been grateful he was mated to such a powerful feline. Nyle was a strong beta." - and I needed him taken down QUITE a few notches. That attitude didn't sit well with me, Tre, or Dennis!
Interesting to discover that Dennis is one of the omegas that Aldo Marshall kidnapped and kept caged. If Aldo hadn't been killed and the warehouses found where he was keeping all of these stolen men, Dennis might never have met Tre and Nyle. Of course, none of this is as important as what/who Dennis finds in the catacombs beneath the house. Where, btw, he shifts for the first time into the absolute cutest, most adorable feline. Not telling you what he is. Meow.

This book is disgusting. Nyle and Dennis have been in the same pack for about a year or something, and Nyle knows Dennis is his mate but comes on too strongly and Dennis can't stand him. Dennis meets the alpha, Tre, and right away identifies him as his mate and fucks him and gives him his virginity right there across the desk they just met five seconds ago. That's fine, even though Nyle met Dennis first, Dennis can't stand Nyle, doesn't know he's his mate, and they're all adults. What's NOT okay is when Tre says "Nyle is our mate too" and they both decide he's not worthy, so the two of them keep fucking just the two of them, which hurts Nyle's feelings even though he knows he deserves it* and as works to be a better mate. (* "knows he deserves it" is literally his thoughts about it). (His only sin is that Dennis felt like he was a stalker. That's it. He came on too strongly and suddenly he's unworthy). So while he's bending over backwards, panting like a dog, and even in his own mind doesn't deserve his mates, they're off fucking each other every chance they get which no thought to his feelings, because he doesn't deserve them, and because they're mates. (Excuse me assholes, -mostly Dennis because the alpha, Tre, I believe was kind of on the fence even though he also was treating Nyle as if Nyle had committed a cardinal sin- but there's a third persons feelings to consider in your "matedom". (but of course his feelings don't matter because he's unworthy).
THEN, Nyle saves Dennis and JUST. LIKE. THAT. Dennis has forgiven him. All the fucking angst is gone and the punishment is over which is not fucking realistic at all.
And THEN, to top it off, NEITHER one of the two fuckers who made their third mate, Nyle, feel like less that shit, ever fucks him alone without all three being present. Because now that he's worthy, apparently, mating means all three of them. Which is so fucking uneven it's not even funny. None of them even attempt to shag him on their own, and my cynical heart bets they still wouldn't see anything wrong with fucking just the two of them like they have from the beginning. Dynamics like this piss me off.
And remember, not only did Tre and Dennis have no problem fucking each other without their third, but not once did they attempt to touch Nyle one-on-one, but they also made him feel like the bad guy and complete shit for just coming on too strongly and freaking out Dennis with stalker like qualities, they made him work for it, the author chose to write Nyle begging for scraps like a dog like "No i don't deserve it I deserve this horrible treatment I will be better and deserve them" which is a flawed character choice and disgusting because his only sin is coming on too strongly (hello, Dennis who fucked Tre and gave him his virginity within 10 seconds of meeting, and I'm pretty sure one of the two assholes finds a way to justify that behavior in the book in a way that still makes Nyle the bad guy) and then the way after all the hell they put him through to prove his "worth", Dennis forgives him like *snap*.

Please, spare yourselves. There are better trio mate stories out there where they actually treat each other like mates.

Great story. I loved the pairing of Dennis, Tre and Nyle together. Rocky at first , they soon became an unbeatable team. The trust, the way they defend each other and love each other was wonderful to read. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
