Honestly, I spoiled the ending for myself by accident and was VERY worried about how this volume would unfold, but it ended on such a sweet note that overall I couldn’t help but be giddy!! This volume is really leading up to everything I’ve desperately been hoping for for at least the past several volumes now!
I think Kujou not being able to confess quite the way she wanted was very realistic for her character! It’s really amazing to see how far she has come when it comes to the "romance" and how she has grown as a person. (That phone call had me squealing!!) I have really enjoyed being on this journey with her!
And Yanagi…YES! You can totally be conceited for once! It’s not all in your head, and I am SO excited for you!!
I’m eagerly looking forward to the final volume, even if I’m sad it will be the last one! This volume had so much humor and squeal worthy moments that I have full confidence the final volume is going to end strong!
One volume to go. Uh, it’s the same as all the others? This is fine, but it never needed to extend past the one-shot that created it, which was absolutely perfect.
There have been good volumes, there have been mediocre volumes, but they’re all kind of same-y in the grand scheme of things. This is comfort shojo that doesn’t want to rock the boat one way or the other. This has truly left no trope unturned.
Which is why we’re going into the home stretch dealing with Yanagi’s daddy issues, although his dad is entirely too doting, an appreciated change from the norm, and Kujou having realized she likes Yanagi. But thinks he has a crush. Which he does, but it’s her. If this has shown up, oh, eight volumes ago, this might land a bit better.
Part of what low-key bugs me about this is the by-the-numbers of it all. Communication mishaps are the order of the day, but these two have a sweet Christmas Eve date where they’re discussing things that would have come up far earlier in talking with any actual close acquaintance you’ve had for ten years.
With the rivals out of the way, it’s mostly just clowning around and waiting for the ending. I don’t hate this, certainly, but it’s a pretty basic soda cracker of a story that I won’t be terribly sad to see wrapped up.
3 stars - very much the same old same. Sometimes that can be worked into something special, but that’s not necessarily the case here.
Really?! Does this mangaka even want these two together? Lol. It’s closer than ever but then let’s throw in the “I might go abroad” situation… I HATE THAT TROPE.
Okay, we’re nearing the end now, and honestly, I can really see the growth—like, proper character development that actually makes sense. I think it’s interesting how the story starts to gently reflect real-life emotional conflicts, especially around love and identity. Some of the lines genuinely hit me; they’re subtle but meaningful. It’s getting a little heavier in tone, but it still stays lighthearted and romantic overall, which I love. That blend of real emotion with a rom-com vibe? So well done. Still totally enjoyable.
“ it has to be her. For me no one is cuter than her. I want her to laugh I want her to depend on me and I want to be the closest person to her” This man waited 10 years for her, went to the same college, always dropped everything to be there for her, always considers her in anything he does, and he does whatever she says without a second thought. He is genuinely so perfect I can’t believe I’ve practically finished this series. I already wish I could read it for the first time again.
It is a very heart warming manga. The story is about Yanagi who is always first in everything plus he is a Rick and handsome brat. But suddenly a girl named Kujou is transferred to his primary school and turns out she is first in everything. So to defeat her and come first he start persuing her and they have a last game.
Cuma masih penasarasn aja sih sama Kei ujungnya jadian sama siapa haha.
