Dane and Izzy.

Complete opposites.

As the New Year begins, they find themselves facing very different circumstances.
Dane is a street racer stuck with a blown engine, no money, and no options after he gets fired for saving a damsel in distress.

Izzy can’t believe she was just rescued by the same handsome stranger she walks past, and lusts after, on a daily basis. With a massive blizzard about to bury the town, she ends up taking him in for the night.

Sparks fly when she brings out his playful side, and he shows her a passion she’s never known before.

As they slowly begin to trust each other, walls come down and tragic pasts emerge. Dane is haunted by the family he never had, while Izzy will stop at nothing to deny her birthright.

When Dane receives an offer he can’t refuse, will one bad decision cost him everything? Or will fate intervene and send these two down the path they were destined for?

This is a full length, stand-alone novel with no cliffhangers. Please be advised that you will find strong language, attractive men with tattoos, a dog with a cat name, steamy bedroom scenes including one involving Doritos, plenty of character backstory, and a very healthy dose of humor.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review
Night in the Fast Lane by Grace Risata is the story of Dane and Izzy.
Izzy has been eyeing Dane each day after work. Dane is working on a construction site and Izzy passes by it every day. There is also another construction guy who has been harassing her and doing pig calling. On a day where ther is several feet of snow and the pig calling guy starts up again. Izzy said something backroad him this time (not to mention giving hi. The finger). Dane comes to her rescue but ends up getting fired. Dane is having some bad luck lately. Dane was a street driver but his motor burned out then this job his buddy Spider got him involved in almost gets him killed. Now he stuck with no car or money and he just lost his current job. Dane ends up staying at Izzy house overnight. The next day Dane does find another job but he needs to stay at Izzy house as his new job wants to ensure he is more than likely reliable. Will Izzy and Dane work out there living arrangements? Will there love have a easy path..I think not..but the do end in love. (No Cliffhangers/ HEA)

There is just something about how this author writes that I find a little different.

This and her one other book I have read of hers I have really enjoyed.

Yes, you could say this book is a bit insta lust, and parts of it are a bit far fetched, but I do not care.

Once again, we have a quirky heroine, who I loved, and a grumpy hero, who here, is a bit down on his luck and running from some trouble.

The heroine has no filter and just said whatever came out of her mouth, and I didn't really care. I loved her. And I really loved Dane as a character, he had had a pretty crappy life, had tried to make it better yet had got into a bit of trouble meaning he was having to hide out. He hated having to rely on Izzy and was so determined to pull his weight. And these two together, I adored. I loved their banter and how they were with each other.

I love how it is so clear the heroine falls deeply, yet equally clear the hero has also.

This author is proving to be able to write quirky offbeat characters and stories, filled with humour and passion. I truly enjoy them.

*sigh*

I honestly cant give more than 3 stars...

The story, being nothing new, nothing that hasnt already been written about- two souls different in character, that found each other on the opposite sides of fortune they engage into the unlikely "friendship"...that slowly turns into appreciation and relationship...while they find themselves each in themselves and in each other...fighting insecurities, doubts, differencies in character, pov, backgrounds...and what else not...

Said like this...it s nothing surprising or revolutionary in the presented subject...so the only thing that could have made this book different from other books out there, would have been the writing style

Unfortunately, the author had a great desire to express it all at once mixing humour, drama, romance and action into one melting pot...but it only ended up being just a huge mix.

The characterisation was lacking in connection...i could not relate to the h/H, individualy or them together, they just didnt seem believable to me. I could not sympathize with them and their past stories and i didnt connect...which made all the difference for me in further engagement into the story.

Mostly, what i didnt like was the way they acted...they were in their mid 20s and they acted like kids with tantrums and lets just say most of the times i thought they were immature. Their dialogues were awkward and at times it really put me off questioning- wth?

The pacing of the storytelling was kinda slow which made the book seemingly look "too long"...

This book had all the ingridients to be an excellent thrive and thrill in portrayal of a romance in an unconventional surroundings but instead it was merely a romance attempt filled with layers of every possible "odd" to pump the "happenings" but it was awkwardly pulled together.

It could have been a beautiful story instead of barely average. But that doesnt mean this book wont find its public cause i am sure it will it just unfortunately happens i wasnt one of them.

4.5 "Kitty" Stars!!!

Wow, what an amazing story to sink my teeth into! From the delicious Dane to the irresistible Izzy, this was a fun filled read which I absolutely loved.

From a slow and steady start, we’re introduced to Izzy and Dane who were brought together unexpectedly but yet are destined to be together.

Izzy is one of three lifelong friends who each have attractive qualities but it’s poor Izzy who is repeatedly overlooked by men. Winter captivates men and Monica intrigues them, but Izzy is just Izzy; your average girl next door type who is practically invisible to the opposite sex, much to her frustration. That is until she is propositioned, crudely, by a contractor and suddenly the man of her dreams steps in to save her. Meet Brick Wall aka Dane.

Dane is on the run from two rival gangs after witnessing a deal which went bad. Concerned for his safety, he takes his friend Spider’s advice and heads to Iowa but instead of finding safety, he finds himself homeless and penniless and, after stepping in to assist Izzy, he also soon finds himself jobless. And that’s where things start to get interesting. With nowhere to turn, Dane asks Izzy for a place to stay and it’s not long before Dane looks like he'll soon become a permanent fixture in Izzy’s life.

With Dane on the couch, Izzy starts to wonder if there could ever be anything between them but with Dane licking his wounds, he makes it clear to her that he’s not interested, that is until she starts to get under his skin with her unfiltered comments and thoughts. With snow comes a closeness that neither could have foreseen and together with Kitty, Izzy’s dog (yes, dog!!!), the trio start to become an unconventional family.

Izzy tries to include Dane in her life but relying on her financially doesn't come easy to him but fortunately, Izzy knows just how to handle his ego. With time, Dane becomes protective of Izzy and before he knows it she is completely under his skin but can he truly be himself with her or will his past hold him back?

Izzy was definitely the unwitting comedian in this story. With her past dating encounters and her hysterical sayings and expressions, her personality and quirky ways quickly grew on me. Neither Izzy nor Dane have had an easy life but with Izzy’s openness and Dane’s protectiveness, their characters gel together perfectly. Dane has a tender vulnerability, but he's also sexy, stubborn, tattooed and tasty, whereas Izzy has a natural beauty that is clearly only revealed to those who are worthy of her. A match made in heaven? I think so!

This was a longish book and, for me, took a little time to get going but once it did, I was drawn in by its driving force. The side characters were equally as strong as the main characters and once Ant and Spider turned up, all bets were off as to who was my favourite male in this story. Kitty the dog was a delightful addition to the tale and added to the overall homely feel that the book portrays. The story starts out hinting at Dane’s street racing interests and I was glad to finally experience his skills towards the end of the story.

This book really does have so many facets to it. I could feel it rolling out of the author's mind and onto the pages before flowing, effortlessly, into my mind. I guess I just relate to the author's wit because I really am drawn to her style of writing and storytelling prowess. Grace Risata really does know how to bring her characters to life!

“Are there any books about a beautiful girl who rescues a troubled bad boy from a snow storm and then lets him stay with her and her dog and they all live happily ever after?”
“No,” I said while laughing, “No one would buy that crap!”

Haha! Well Izzy, that’s simply not true. There is a book like that, it’s called Nights in the Fast Lane and people would buy it and love it! This book was a lot of fun, there were plenty of laugh out loud moments, steamy moments and fast cars! Dane is down on his luck and hiding out in a small town in Iowa waiting for things to blow over back at home when he meets Izzy. Coming to her rescue one day ends up costing him the job he just started, so with no money, no home, no job and a huge snowstorm on the way his only option is to ask the pretty girl he’s just met for a ride and a place to spend the night. Izzy’s been fantasizing about this hot stranger for a week after spotting him on the construction site on her way in to work each day. She’s not one to turn her back on someone in need so she agrees to take him in. What was supposed to be just one night turns into a semi-permanent situation and as the two get to know one another, sparks begin to fly. When the things Dane left behind in Chicago begin to catch up with him, will his budding relationship with Izzy stand a chance or will his rash decisions cost him everything they’ve been building?

“I guess I paid too much attention to the ‘don’t talk to strangers’ lecture when I was a kid. I still don’t talk to strangers, I just let them move in with me.”
Dane smiled and said, “Best decision you ever made, your highness.”

I totally fell in love with Izzy and Dane. Izzy was a spitfire and I love how uncensored she was. She said whatever was on her mind and I loved that she was no nonsense. Her inner thoughts were as funny as the things that actually came out of her mouth! I loved her quest to not be Nancy Negative and embrace her inner Polly Positive. As you’ll see, she has varying degrees of success with that but it was so funny regardless. Dane was great, he was so humble and I felt bad for him while he tried to maintain his pride while reluctantly accepting Izzy’s handouts. He was not used to taking help from anyone so this situation was a big blow to the ego for him, but I loved that Izzy never made him feel like less of a man for it. The two were very different but had more things in common than they originally thought and I loved seeing them bond as they spent more time together. It took a little while for them to open up to one another, but I enjoyed and appreciated the back stories we got. And their chemistry was great, their connection and progression of their relationship was totally believable even though the circumstances that got them together seemed a little far-fetched.

That was probably my favorite thing about the book, the characters and the day to day situations (for the most part) felt like real life. These were a group of people that I felt like I could be friends with and I love when I get that feeling when reading a book! The book started off with some excitement and drama and then we had the meet-cute between Izzy and Dane and much of the middle of the book was just them getting to know each other and doing normal everyday things before things heated back up for the last few chapters. While the middle portion was a tad long, I still enjoyed reading it because there is some really great banter and some truly hilarious situations and stories that are shared. The secondary cast of characters definitely helped, Winter, Monica, Spider, Ant, Stacey and even Kitty really rounded out this book! You never knew what was going to happen when they all got together and I loved that!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It’s very low angst, but high on real life romance and humor with believable and relatable characters that you can’t help but love. Oh and I don’t think I’ll ever look at Doritos quite the same way again! Curious yet? Grab this book today and find out what I mean!!

“You’re amazing, Izzy. Where have you been all my life?” Dane asked.
“Sitting here waiting for you to find me.”

**Received for honest review**

When we started reading this book we were thing wtf who the hell does this??

We meet Izzy who is just your average plain Jane works in the cosmetic field for a family ran business she has 2 best friends and lives by herself. He friends call her Negative Nancy as she is always so negative but she has made a positive change and now wants to be known as Polly Positive.

Every day after work she walks past a construction site and this is when she meets brick wall!

Brick wall is as sexy as sin and built like a brick wall, Izzy loves to cop a look every time she walks past him but with coping that quick look there is issues that go with it from another construction worker.

On a walk she was getting harassed by this construction worker until Brick Wall come to save the day. Little did they both realize by Brick wall aka Dane doing the right thing and helping Izzy that he would lose his job.

With Dane down on his luck after leaving Chicago in a rush to get away from some bad people that without his job he will now also be homeless.

This is where things get interesting.

Brick Wall aka Dane stays on Izzy’s couch til he can find a new job and get some money as he has nothing and we mean nothing a bag with a few items and that’s all, when he left Chicago he left with the clothes on his back and a little bit of cash.

We felt really bad for Brick wall as he tried so hard not to accept handouts from Izyy we loved the banter back and forth between the two characters and the chemistry and sex appeal that oozed out of them. We found ourselves giggling at parts of the book there were parts that we extremely funny as well as.

Grace done a great job at making this book fell like it wasn’t just a fairy tale that this stuff happens in real life and never to judge a book by its cover!

Wow!!! Yet again another amazing story from Grace Risata! Brilliant characters with such a wicked sense of humor. The story dragged you in and kept you hooked until the last page.
Izzy is done being negative about everything so for new year she's going to be positive and her first port of call is to help out Dane after he loses his job trying to help her. She's seen Dane everyday when she leaves work but never in her wildest dreams did she think she'd get up close and personal. They both have a complicated past, but as Izzy starts to let Dane in she sees hope for a brighter future but when Dane vanishes leaving only a letter will she give up or will she fight for her man?
Dan is down on his luck and after losing his job he has no choice but to except Izzy's help no matter how much he hates hand outs. Dan trys to ignore his feelings for Izzy not wanting her to think he's only there to get in her pants but she understands him like no other and there's only so long he can resist. Izzy gives him the home he's never had and he doesn't want to give that up but when his best friend Spider reminds him of a commitment he has back in Chicago he's torn, he knows Izzy won't want him going. Will his decision leave him with nothing?
Such a great read from a brilliant author that I would definitely recommend reading if you haven't already. I'd love to see what happens next between Winter and Spider aswell.

I was given a copy for an honest review and didn't know what to expect from this author.. well just to say she is now on my list of faves. Funny, sexy and a really good storyline. LOVED the characters. Izzy our female lead has been lusting over the eye candy at the local building site on her walk to work and when he helps her out he has a favour to ask in return... will Izzy accept? will she help out down-on-his-luck Dane? Izzy who has to nickname everyone sets herself a New Years resolution to change from a Nancy Negative to a Polly Positive and for once lets herself agree to Dane's proposal and what we get is a sexy, laugh a minute account of the developing relationship between them. Mostly told from Izzy's pov with Dane's viewpoint thrown in here and there for good measure. Some great sideline characters too, with some great girly moments between Izzy and her 2 best friends and the addition of some extra eye-candy in the form of Dane's 2 hunky sidekicks. I really loved the humour in this book..a couple of my favourite moments are the phone sex scene and.... “What the hell has gotten into you, Izzy ?” Monica snapped , pleased to be back in full-on mother hen mode. “Unfortunately not Dane,”..... i laughed out loud.. which believe me is not usual for me ! This definitely won't be my last read from this author.

Main character Izzy is basically all of us. Izzy doesn’t keep her New Years resolutions, her dog is her baby, and she uses the term “book boyfriend”. Like, hello, how relatable is that? Anyway, a hunky construction worker she calls “Brick Wall” comes to her rescue when a mouthy jerk gets too handsy.

Who is “Brick Wall”? Only Dane, a street racer who is a bit of trouble, causing him to lay low in Izzy’s small town in Iowa. He gets fired from his job for helping Izzy and would be sleeping on the streets in the middle of winter if Izzy didn’t return the favor and save him.

Izzy lets Dane crash at her place, when he reveals he has no where else to go. At first I was screaming, “No, Izzy, stranger danger! Haven’t you ever watched Oprah? This is why there’s a whole television channel devoted to murders and missing people, you loon!” But then I was like, “Yeah, girl, you fix him up a nice dinner and revel in that sexual chemistry y’all got goin’ on”. And, when one night turns into something longer, you’re rooting for Dane’s past to stay in the past, she he and Izzy can have a real shot.

I literally loved this book. I let it move into my house, put its name on the mortgage, and now we’re planning a fall wedding. It’s been a while since I read something that had me laughing from page one. It’s got dick jokes, a dog named Kitty, and some straight up lovin’ that can’t be beat.

When your world is just plain ordinary and nothing spectacular seems to happen to you, being called a “Negative Nancy” isn’t so bad. Is it? Izzy didn’t think so but thanks to a New Year Resolution she is determined to turn herself into “Positive Polly”.  However when one has really no family (only two bff’s), a co-worker from Hell and the only man in your life is a dog, how does society expect her act. Being positive and always looking on the bright side is hard to do. But when Izzy comes in contact with a “Brick Wall”, all negative ideas fly from her head and are replaced with VERY positive thoughts. Now only if she could her “Brick Wall” to take notice she would be in heaven. Little did she know, their first encounter would turn her world upside down?

After damaging his car in an illegal street race in Chicago, Dane has no other choice than to take up a job with the Chicago Mob. How else is he supposed to get enough money to fix his car? But when his first job turns out to a bloody mess, Dane is forced to flee Chicago. But when his contact in Oak Valley doesn’t pan out like expected, Dane finds himself scrambling for somewhere else to go. Luck would soon be on his side when he lands a construction job that pays cash daily and he can afford a motel room. But just when things are looking good, he notices a fellow co-worker harassing the pretty girl who has previously caught his eye, Dane soon finds himself in a whole new mess. By stepping in a helping out, he is now without a job.

Was this some kind of dream? Did the man she called “Brick Wall” save her from that nasty man? Did he just get fired for helping her? What is she to do?  How can one be positive when things like this happen to someone who just wanted to do the right thing? Izzy finds herself in a world wind when “Brick Wall” strikes a deal with her, how can she turn him down?

Since now being unemployed, Dane won’t be able to stay at the motel. And with only the money he had on him the night he fled Chicago, he now finds himself asking Izzy for a place to stay for the night. However when one night another, Dane becomes finds himself enamored with the plain girl. Something about her just drives him crazy. A weird vibe lingered around the house until one night, he acts on his desires and sparks fly. Both Izzy and Dane are made for each other. Izzy shows Dane that there are still good people in life and not everything has to be done in “The Fast Lane”. While Dane awakens something inside of Izzy that she never thought existed.

But just like any other couple who are starting out there are many unanswered questions. But when secrets are held and skeletons come out of the closet, can these two rise past the issues and survive? Or will one get spooked and run back to their old life and habits?

Let me start off saying I signed up to read and review this ARC because I was trying to nurse a massive “Book Hangover”. The synopsis seemed sweet and I thought I could easily breeze through, write a decent review and be done with it. BOY, was I wrong!!!!!Yes, the cover would have been a tad bit better. A hot, half naked man would totally work for me, but I guess you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The story had me hooked from the first chapter. At times I found myself laughing out loud and then blushing a few pages later. The witty banter between Izzy and her friends was hilarious. Their constant support of one another was very refreshing. Also the constant dialogue between Izzy and Dane reminded me of the typical Rom-Com movies, but it worked so well with the story line that I didn’t mind a bit. Now the bedroom scenes are not only hot but the way Dane opens Izzy up to a whole new world of experiences just does the trick. Who knew being called “My little Doritos” could be sexy?

The supporting character do just what they are suppose to do....."Support". Izzy's two friends help range in her negative side and also any craziness that she may show. But Dane's friends aren't two far behind with their craziness and drama. Sometimes mingling with Izzy's friends can get these boys in trouble.

This story does have a HEA and can be read as a stand alone, however it does open up for future stories from this crazy group. I reached out to the Author via Facebook in regards to this series and was told that she did plan to write more about the Oak Valley group. I was pleasantly pleased with knowing this and also can't wait to see where the series goes. This is my first time reading anything by the author and enjoyed the book so much that I have actually re-read it 2 times. Okay so I might have read a few certain parts 3 or 4 times.

Fantastic book and job well done!!!

5 stars. This is the second book I've read by this author and she has quickly become one of my go to writers especially if you want to read a steamy romance with laugh out loud moments and characters you root for. Izzy and Dane both have had pasts that have caused them pain and even though they can be floored by it at times they are both strong individuals who have made a life for themselves in the present. I loved the banter between the two and Izzy's friends giving everyone nicknames made me laugh. Don't get me wrong there are moments in this book that will make your heart bleed for them it is not all rainbows and unicorns! I love the fact that these are characters you can relate to in that they work ordinary jobs and live in ordinary houses and face the same problems we all do (broken appliances etc.). I can't wait to read more books by this author. For a feel good romance that will make you chuckle and lighten your heart and at the end make you give a fist pump. A very highly recommended read.

Nights in the Fast Lane
By Grace Risata
4.5 Stars

Nights in the Fast Lane is a comedy with heart.
Dane Murphy has just witnessed something that he definitely shouldn't have, and now he's high tailing it out of town and as far from trouble as he can. His first introduction to Izzy Kowalski is a bit of a disaster. After protecting her from a creep he works with, he is subsequently fired and without money for a hotel. Izzy reluctantly agrees to give Dane a place to stay. As the two get to know each other, attraction is revealed and feelings begin to emerge.
I absolutely loved these characters. They both have a past wrought with heartache and struggle. While there were distinct differences, they both understood one another's pain. Izzy was such a wonderful female lead: quick witted, smart, selfless, and driven. Dane is seriously my current obsession. He was strong, conflicted, hardworking, tender, and loyal. It's always refreshing to have a male lead who is super sweet while maintaining that protective and charming alpha personality. And I can't forget to mention them together; the back and forth banter, obvious chemistry, and palpable sexual tension...gahhhh!!
I adored everything about this book. It was laugh out loud funny with witty dialogue and hilarious situations. Clever and complex characters drive this story. Risata pulled me in with her endearing and relatable characters and her sweet and emotionally charged storyline kept me engaged throughout. This is my second book from Grace Risata and I can't get enough! She is fast becoming a must read author for me.

Dane had a rough childhood...bounced from family to family unwanted and unloved. This taught him the only person he can rely on is himself. With his past time coming to an abrupt end he is thrown into the criminal world. After become a witness to a crime he flees to Oak Valley to lay low.
Izzy, through devastating circumstances cuts ties with her privileged lineage and is taken in by her best friend Willow's family. Fast forward a few years and with money given to her in a settlement she buys a modest house and lives a life of a single woman. With a string of bad relationships she considers herself not to be a catch...until someone thinks otherwise of her. In walks Dane to defend her honour and the rest you'll have to read about...and trust me when I tell you you'll enjoy the ride!

This book was a real surprise to me...I really enjoyed it! It was fun, light hearted, mixed in with hints of mystery and danger. I braced myself for the falling in love in a short period of time, the unexpected pregnancy, the turmoil of "I can't do this" and he leaves moments but was left with two people who cared about each other...and witnessed how that bond between them grew. And it ended with an HEA I could live with...with maybe a hope of more to come in the future from these two Izzy and Dane.

The only reason I'm not giving this a 5 star rating is it was a little long winded at times for me. Although it didn't take away from the main story line I wanted to speed read through to get to the good stuff.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Izzy is a girl who is just living her normal, every day life. She goes to work, goes home, does what all of the rest of us does. Dane, on the other hand, is a bad boy who has had a few bad cards dealt to him and is on the run. He's seen a few things he shouldn't have, and has to leave town for a while. As luck would have it, Dane and Izzy's paths cross, and our true story starts. Dane is down on his luck and homeless, thanks to Izzy, so she takes him in. A snowstorm follows and they are stuck in the house with nothing else to do but get to know each other. He has a past, she has past boyfriend issues. They are a match made in heaven!

Grace Risata has created an amazing book where we not only read a story, but also get an insight into Izzy's mind. And Izzy's mind is hilarious!! The best thing is, she thinks just like you and I would, it just isn't usually written into a book. That's the best part! This book isn't written to what should be proper and right, it is written as we would actually think! It's great!

I would recommend this book to anyone ready to have a great time and enjoy a book! I couldn't put it down and was wanting to constantly read! Great job Grace Risata! I can't wait to read more from you!

I recently read "The Dirty Detour" and loved it, so "Nights in the Fast Lane" had a lot to live up to.

I didn't connect with the storyline right away for whatever reason. Street racing holds no appeal for me. That said, the characters grew on me, even if the storyline was unlikely and the characters past baggage was a bit roughly woven into the story.

I need to back up and tell you that I am not a big romance reader, so my opinions are colored by this.

Once I got into the story, I found the book hard to put down. I really liked Izzy's friends and adopted family. It really added to the story.

I really began to like Dane, despite my initial misgivings. The fact that he was hot and um, talented, didn't hurt either

I feel the author makes great use of humor and interesting characters in her books. While this one was not quite as fun for me as Dirty detour was, I look forward to future reads By Grace Risata. She is skilled at sucking you into her stories. I hope she considers writing a romance/comedy/mystery as she has illustrated she has the skill and insight for the complex storyline needed to do so. Again, I am not a huge romance fan, so I would love to see her bring her skills to my kind of books :)

Dane Murphy was in the wrong place at the wrong time trying to make some money when his life is turned upside down and he is suddenly on the run, leaving Chicago for Iowa.

Izzy Kowalski works for Kharmma Cosmetics when one night she is accosted by a guy and is saved by Dane who loses his job in the process. Dane asks Izzy for a place to stay and the two begin an unlikely friendship. Yet beneath their outside personas are two people who have faced difficult pasts with each coping in different ways to get through and manage their hurt and pain.

When an opportunity comes up that Dane feels he must take will he lose everything he has with Izzy?

I really enjoyed this book and found the author extremely humorous and there were so many funny points. At the same time there was a lot of emotion in the book and it dealt with a lot of difficult issues in which you felt the pain of the characters.

I loved both Dane and Izzy and I loved how their different their personalities were yet they did bring out the best in each other. I loved Monica and Winter and all of Winter's family and how they truly were a family.

Such a great book filled with so many laughs and lots of emotions!

What a hysterical story! I just loved the interaction between Izzy and Dane and even though they came from broken families they were perfect for each other. Izzy works at a makeup manufacturing company and every day she has to walk by a construction site and see always tries to eye Brick wall who is a guy she knows would never be interested in her but she likes to dream. Well one day another guy from the site makes sexist remarks and Brick Wall sticks up for her and gets fired. He introduces himself as Dane and asked if he can sleep on her couch for the night she finally agrees and she takes him home. They become closer and closer and they find out they have more in common then they realize. They finally start dating and she introduces him to her friends Winter and Monica who are funny also. It's a love story but really funny at the same time, and I would love to read more about the whole group including Spider and Ant who are Danes friends. I like how you got both points of view from the characters and Dane sounded almost too good to be true but he doesn't stay that way. Great story!

My review of "Nights in the fast Lane"

The writing style in this book is very different, thus it took me a bit to get into the story..... Nights in the fast lane is the story of Dane and Izzy. Dane being the hot "brick wall" and Izzy well.....lets just say she annoyed me at times. I felt like her scenes were run on and a little repetitive (like a teenager having a fit) She did however grow on me and I got use to her crazy ways lol They both had a past that tormented their hearts. Dane found himself in some trouble and Izzy came to his rescue. In a whole they start as strangers who turned friends who turned lovers who rescued each other.
As I got further into the story it got easier to follow. There was humor, romance, drama and action. We got to meet other characters as well Spider, Monica, Winter and Ant. I would be interested in another book to know what happens between Dane and Izzy in the future as well as seeing a story on Spider and Winter.... Those two need to get it on already lol. They would definitely be an interesting story.

Dane has seen something he shouldnt have, and has to flee for his life. Literally. His best friend should have never gotten him involved in this kinda work, no matter how bad they need the money.
Izzy has a few issues. Izzy actually caused me to have a split personality about this book. I REALLY like her, yet on the other hand there were things about her that bugged me. One minute she is acting completely normal, the next shes having a meltdown like no ones business. One time that bothers me was when they were talking like normal people then she literally goes ballistic, and ends up completely crazy. Then comes back and apologizes, and all is forgotten. Until the next. I also did not like how Dane is all loving and sweet, then hes all bitchy because he doesnt want to talk.
I LOVE the way all the main characters are very realistic and have issues. Not one of them is perfect, and wonderful. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Cant wait for more form this author....

Let me start by saying that I absolutely adore Risata. She is such a cool person as well as skilled author. This is the second novel I have read from her, but I plan on following her as long as she writes.

Contemporary romance is not my thing (unless it’s really erotic). I prefer mine to be paranormal. But Risata’s stories are just so well woven and entertaining, that it’s impossible for me not to enjoy them. I feel like I am watching a movie when I read her novels, with the depth and character that goes into to each person she creates and intricate storyline she weaves. Not to mention the chemistry between the leads that has steam rising off the pages. I am hooked from the very first chapter. It doesn’t hurt that I am a sucker for the stuck-together-because-of-a-blizzard trope, especially if it’s well written.

To me, Risata has it all. The characters, the story, the sex, the humor, just everything! They fit together like a well-made puzzle revealing the most satisfying picture.

This was my first read by Grace Risata. An enjoyable humorous contemporary romance, with some erotic scenes. Izzy hasn't had an easy life and even less luck in the romance department. Fate steps in one day when a handsome guy on a builders yard, that she's already clocked as she's been walking to work, steps in to defend her when one of his colleagues gets inappropriate with her. Dane is a man full of mystery, which intrigues Izzy and leads to her acting very out of character in an effort to get to know him better. The story flowed really well, and went in directions I wasn't expecting. The leading characters were very likeable, especially the hero Dane, as were some of the "side kicks" which I hope means some spin-offs are a possibility. Some nice one liners and a general sense of light hearted humour filled this sweet romance, with some well written steamy sessions throughout.

I can't believe I waited so long to read this!! This is one of my very favorite ever books!! I was slow to start it and actually passed over it a couple of times before I actually ready it. Why you ask? Because I'm very bad at judging a book by its cover. I have sat here with the book for a month and never one time understood the cover! I didn't even realize there was a silhouette of faces on it. Really! Then I finished reading it and looked again. It made total sense. I've been kicking myself ever since!!!

So anyway great storyline. I loved all the characters. It was a quick and fun read for me! I loved the sense of humor that Grace Risata put into this book. I'm very hopeful that she writes more about these characters. I would love to know what happens in the future for Dane, Izzy, Monica, Winter and even Spider and Ant. I'm going to definatly stalk Risata now to watch for new books. I'm also recommending this book to my book club. I just loved it that much!

I enjoyed this book. Once I got into the book I could not put it down. I am a firm believer to give it a couple chapters and I am glad I did. Very strong characters, real life at that. There are some very funny scenes and Grace hit it out of the park. There were time I was wondering why she went that way, however if you keep reading she ties Italy together. She brings the life of being in the foster system to life, and how children really are treated at times. She brings the controlling relationships with family members that try to step on when kids lose both parents. There are some dark parts of the book and when she explains it you want to cry with the character.

I think the biggest thing I didn't like at first but it happened eventually was the hook of the book. Like I said earlier it didn't hook me right away and I almost gave up on reading it.

What I love about this story is it’s real. The characters are so relatable. Even if you’ve never had someone like this in your life you can see yourself with them. I want Izzy, Winter, and Monica as my BFF’s. They are snarky, sassy, funny, and bold. They have each other’s backs and never let each other down. Dane is the fantasy man we all may dream about, but he’s not perfect. Both he and Izzy have issues from their pasts which may affect their future together. So when Dane’s friend, Spider, steps in to get him back home where he belongs, Dane may end up making the biggest mistake of his life.

This is an extremely enjoyable tale with characters you will not only like but admire. It’s entertaining and easily will keep you reading from beginning to end. I highly recommend this delightful, fun and engaging love story.

Just finished this book and I found it entertaining and I don't usually read books with street racing involved. The tension between Izzy and Dane really keep you on your toes while reading this one. For the first part of the book the two of them are dancing around their lust for each other and whether to act on it or not. Well, let me correct that statement. Izzy is all about it but Dane has reservations and they are good reasons, not for his lack of want to. They both have a lot of issues from their pasts, but find out the two of them really aren't so different after all. It was funny, kind of intense, frustrating, and more. An all around good read!

Izzy's New Years resolution is not to be a negative nancy. Walking to her car from work during a snow storm, she's rescued by "Brick Wall", a man she's been eyeing for the last week. She learns Brick Wall's name when he's fired for standing up for her.
Dane is on the run. He's homeless and now jobless hoping this lady will let him stay with her.
Nights in the fast lane was an enjoyable, funny, suspenseful, hot read. I really enjoyed all the characters and their stories. This bool can be read as a standalone, but you'll want more from this group of characters.
The writing was fantastic and it flowed seamlessly. Told in both Izzy and Dane's POV.

Just hilarious! Grace Risata is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, her stories are a fantastic mix of witty inner dialogue, belly laugh moments, scorching hot sex and awesome plot lines.
Izzy is trying to be a Polly Positive instead of a Nancy Negative and so what does she do? Let's the handsome 'Brickwall' of a man that she has been oggling daily move in with her... because he's homeless and pennyless.
Dane had to flee his life in Chicago after he witnessed a crime and he ended up in this small town in Iowa... and now he's sleeping on the sofa of a sexy woman. life isn't all bad.
These two had me in stitches, as did all the sub characters. Highly recommend this book.

Grace Risata is a new author to me and I really enjoyed Nights in the Fast Lane.

Our main character Izzy, was a perfect heroine. She was funny, stood up for herself and when she wants something she gets it. Her target Dane.

When she first see's him its lust at first sight.

He has a proposal for Izzy who could not refuse.

This book was hot, lots of action, and romance all in one.

All in all a pretty good read, definitely going to read more by the author. Can't wait for what she comes up with next.
