Lessons in Temptation

My name is Rebecca Wilson and I’m an awful person.

My life was good.
Or, at least, it was to the outside world.

But…

He was so alluring.
It was only supposed to be one night of fun, then I’d go back home to my boyfriend and new job, never to see him again.
Of course, life had other plans—plans to throw him, along with his little sister, back into my path and tempt me to change my soul forever.

I gave this book 5 Stars!

So I was intrigued to what this story might hold and I was blown away with the outcome of the secrets of the past. Rebecca and Max find their love in a not in a conventional way. I can see why some people would have been upset about cheating but in this book it totally made sense. I love how Rebecca could see that there was something with Max and I definitely would had a few more choice words with Doug. Over all this book just has that feel good, love story. I'm proud that Max took up raising his sister bit hoe he got their was a total shocker. I'm not sure if I could have got past his past.

this was the first book I have read from this author but won't be my last.

I loved everything about this story-except the cheating element. Sure, trust me, I get it. Your boyfriend is a douchecanoe. He treats you like crap, you have fallen out of like with him, but you are still with him. Therefor, control your lady bits until you are free. Secondly, if the man knows you are unavailable, he should not pursue you. Of course, in the beginning, he didn't know it-but when he did, I think yes-make your intentions known, and let her choose on her own what route she wishes to take.

So, this story is about Becca and Max. They meet on a weekend getaway to the beach. They are instantly attracted to each other, on a physical level and then, on a much deeper level. However, pesky boyfriend and all, keeps them from being together. Until they meet again, and of course, passion overtakes them. Finally, though, Becca pulls her head out of her butt for a hot minute and breaks up with the boyfriend. NOW let's get together. Maybe.

So, eventually, they do. Honestly, ugh, their insecurities with each other got on my nerves. OF COURSE if the tables were turned and HE was the cheater she would assume Once a Cheater Always a Cheater so don't get your panties in a wad if he assumes it to. BUT, these two-were kinda immature with each other. The "I'm gonna flirt with a girl to make you jealous" kinda immature. She get's mad at him when he assumes the worst in her and won't listen to him, needs her space. But then, when she learns of his past OH HELL NO, you stay away from me!

But, the chemistry was super hot between these two-once they got over themselves enough to see that they meant more to each other than just sex! Chloe Maxx can definitely draw you in with her writing, and make you feel something for her character's-whether it's intense dislike or love, it at least keeps you interested.

5 Stars!

Chloe Maxx pushed my boundaries and wowed me with her debut novel, Lessons of the Past. She took a taboo subject for me and twisted into something that I devoured in a matter of hours. And now she is back with her follow up, the second book in this series.

Lessons in Temptation was a sexy, sweet, intense, passionate, and scandalous love story full of twists, turns, ups, downs, and everything in between. This book started with a bang and kept me on the edge of my seat until the pages quit turning. I went on a roller coaster of emotions but by the end, every moment was totally worth it.

Complicated.... that doesn't even begin to describe the feelings and emotions that Rebecca and Max are about to face. Two souls lost until they find each other. They shouldn't want each other... it is totally wrong. But the heart wants what the heart wants. Can these two find a way past all of the obstacles that lies ahead to find their happy ending?

Be prepared for laughs, smiles, sadness, tears, lust, and love.

I highly recommend this book.

It's my own fault because I knew what the storyline was and I personally know I hate it yet I read it anyway. I let myself get hooked in by the cover. Weak on my part.

Let me be completely honest here, Rebecca completely annoyed the cr@p out of me. Her BF (not Max) was a complete ass yet she was living with him, had sex with him the night before she left for the beach, and I completely missed the part where she was going to end things with him.

Max wasn't much better. Initially he had no idea she had a boyfriend because she's annoying as cr@p. Once he did find out it didn't really seem to stop him.

There's lots of back and forth between the two:

1. Instant sex as soon as they see each other filled with dirty talk.
2. Hurt feelings, no talking, instant forgiveness, followed by instant sex.

Then there's Max's secret. I don't care what a good guy he was or how the hell he spins it............ewwwwwww.

I don't know what frustrated me more - the two MCs or me for continuing to read it.

This is my first experience reading this author that kept me entertained all throughout this 4 star story.

ARC of Lessons in Temptations written by Chloe Maxx willingly reviewed in exchange of an honest spoiler free review.

Rebecca is not very happy in her current relationship. On a week end trip with some friends, she meets Max and they hit it off. One thing leads to another. She never expected to ever see him again but faith as other plans for them. She has some serious decisions to make.

I usually don't read this type of storyline that involves cheating but I decided to go in with an open mind and give it a try. It was quite entertaining and kept my undivided attention until the very end. There was never a dull moment. A storyline that involves children are usually my favorite because they sweeten the stories.

Standalone told in dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story.

Arc given for an honest review.
I hate cheating especially in relationships, if its not working and your not happy end it. I understand sometimes its not so easy but in the end it has to be better than cheating. That said I enjoyed this story, I didn't feel that Rebecca was a bad person for the decisions she makes, just that she was a bit torn.
Doug however was a bit of a "douch", I didn't like him, feel sorry for him in any way. I felt what happened was pretty much his own fault and he brought it on himself with his behaviour.
Max is a nice guy, he cares. He is doing his best with his sister and I admired him for that. A major surprise in where the money came from, I expected something very different. I didn't feel it fitted with the character at all, but then I guess that was the point the author wanted to make.
The whole story is well written with a nice steady flow, a few twists and turns help keep interest going. I would definitely read more by this author. And the awesome book cover helps as well.

4.5 stars! This book was a fun roller-coaster!
Rebecca is a young woman who's looking to start a new teaching job. She has her own place, but her boyfriend decides to move in with her. She's fine with that, until Doug turns out to be a douchecanoe who acts like it's the 1950s and a woman's place is in the kitchen. After another argument with her lousy excuse of a boyfriend, Rebecca goes on a fun weekend with her girlfriends. During the outing, she meets Max, and despite having a boyfriend, she succumbs to his charm.
Of course, Rebecca and Max's paths cross again, and they start a will-or-won't-they type of relationship. The cheating didn't bother me as it would in other books, because Doug - unfortunately - is nonredeemable. This is definitely a fun erotica story if you can read it with an open mind.

This is the first book I've read by this author. While I liked her writing style this book really didn't work for me. I don't have an issue with the cheating aspect, it's fiction so whatever. What bothered me was Rebecca staying with a boyfriend she was miserable with. I also didn't get the relationship between her and Max. They didn't talk, I never understood why they were together other than to have sex. Then there was this gem from Max, "We all make mistakes. Look what you did to your last boyfriend.” I would have kicked his ass to the curb. There were just to many red flags in this relationship for me.

As far as fun, racy stories go, this one is pretty decent. What it really comes down to, though, is reader preference. There is absolutely nothing technically wrong with this book. The writing style is decent. The characters are well thought out. I loved the characters I was meant to love and hated the ones I was meant to hate. The thing of it is, though, this is a very racy book. And I do not mean that lightly at all. So how much you’re likely to enjoy reading this book really depends on the balance you prefer between substance and smut. Personally, I find no fault with smut at all as long as it’s well written. And the racy scenes in this book are definitely all kinds of hot. This book definitely has a lot going for it in the steamy romance area.

While I do not have an issue with smut, I do prefer substance to be in greater quantity than smut. That’s not really how this book played out for me. There was some substance, and it was certainly enough to move along the storyline and give the characters some depth. However, the smut far outweighed the substance in this book, and I feel like I would’ve really liked a lot more story devoted to Max and Becca’s relationship. Despite the fact that a great deal of time passed during this story and it was clear that relationships did progress during this time, I did not really get a feel for much relationship development. Because of that, I really felt like their relationship was all sex and not much else. There’s not necessarily anything wrong with that, but it’s not my favorite balance for a romance. If you’re looking for a racy read that you don’t have to think too much about, though, this is a pretty good one!

LOL so I read this book today in a matter of hours !! It was fast paced , super hot and the cover visual was alarmingly vivid as I read about how hot and good Max was at the physical stuff !! Like I may have been blushing and thinking about how I can ever face this cover model at signings after reading this !!!! Anyhow - I enjoy this author's writing style and the flow. the amount of chemistry and physical connection makes it fun to read and easy to fly through. I am not one to applaud cheating and maybe Rebecca went about things the wrong way BUT I am not sorry for how things turned out. I also enjoyed the side story of Luke and Dana, not to mention Rebecca's sister who I already met in her book. Max has a past , a rough childhood and some major responsibilities thrown at him at a young age. He did his best to support his family but we come to find out his past choices were pretty questionable and they do play a big part in some of the angst and drama. Rebecca's story was pretty clear cut - unhappy in her relationship , a connection to a stranger that has her acting unlike she ever has yet a pretty normal family life so not any skeletons to come flying out. They may get hot , heavy and crazy pretty quickly BUT there is no denying their connection and it was easy to fall in love with Max so I can see how Rebecca did as well !! Wondering if we will get anymore LESSONS from Chloe ??!!

I love Chloe Maxx writing, so when I heard there was a new book I got really excited.
Im not a massive fan of cheating but some how in this book it works, I get it, I understand why it had to be that way.

Rebecca is going through a rough patch in her relationship with Doug. The guy is a total Douch. Whilst she is away on a weekend break with friends she meets Max. Something about Max draws her in. When one thing leads to another Rebecca sees it for what it really is.

When this couple meet each other again, its time for Rebecca to make some decisions. If she wants things to work with Max she must ditch her boyfriend for starters.

With a connection that is far more than physical things could be great for these two...However insecurities are always there and the way they first come together may come back to haunt them both.

With twists and turns along the way this was an easy, enjoyable read. It was great to have dual POV and this helped with the depth of the story. I cant wait to see what Chloe has in store for us next.

I loved the first book in this series. Loved it. Alex and Javier story was my everything! So I jumped at the chance early on to read this book. As I started to read it.... I don't know. Something was missing for me.

I thought this book was ok. I found a lot of things that went on in this book to be kind of weird. It almost felt out of place. The whole Doug thing. I felt should have been a little more.
Then when Max came into the picture. Rebecca was all over the place.
I had a hard time with Rebecca's character in the beginning. She was so hot and cold.
It was kind of weird how they would both flip out over things.
They would be having a good time and then they were both saying mean things to each other. It almost seems that those outburst seemed out of place.

Then we have Max's secret.
I'm sorry... but I just lost it.
It was so unbelievable to me. I was so turned off by it. Because it seemed so out of place in this story.

Overall... I'm glad it ended the way it did. But I just didn't fully love it

** ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW **

This is the first novel I have read by this author and was pleasantly surprised. Lessons in Temptation is a standalone with an HEA however it does have elements of cheating which I do not condone under any circumstances. This made me relating to the female character a little difficult at first however the more I read the more I understood.

This is a story of two people meeting at a getaway. Feelings develop and they embark on an emotional journey filled with ups and downs, twists and turns.

Rebecca and Max meet in paradise, thinking they would never see each other again, however fate always has other things planned and when they re connect will they be able to find that little slice of heaven again and make it work in reality ?

One girl has a major decision to make .. which path will she choose and will it be the right man for her?

Read and find out !

This is a story about Max and Rebecca. She is a newly qualified teacher, he a club owner. She and her boyfriend recently moved in together but she was not happy with how it was working out. She and two girlfriends go away for a weekend at the beach and meet a group of guys, one of which is Max. They are drawn to each other and have sex for which she then feels strong guilt. She returns home to continue life with Doug hoping that things will improve. She starts her job and one of the students is the sister of Max which brings them back into contact. They have another tryst and she decides to end her relationship with Doug. The next months are about the development of their relationship and the trials and tribulations that arise. The characters were ok, the story was average, nothing exciting but not bad either. The time frame jumped a bit and a few aspects of the story were a bit underdeveloped. Overall an average story that will be quickly forgotten.

Sometimes the right things come at the wrong time or so we tend to think but what we must yearn for comes to us in mysterious ways or sometimes just in time. I didn’t love this story but I didn’t dislike it. I’m somewhere in the middle with this story while I love the plot and the characters sometimes I didn’t care a lot for the writing. The story line was great I don’t think it was executed that well. I really couldn’t connect with the characters in the book at all. Saying all that I don’t believe it’s a bad book and shouldn’t be read, nope I think every book deserve to be tried because every perception is different. Will I be reading another book by Ms. Maxx yes because there were some good parts in the book and I believe not every book is the same so I can’t wait to see what else she has out .

I absolutely love a book that has a bit of a love triangle.
Granted the triangle in Lessons in Temptation is more of a crooked triangle, but still...
This book was absolutely incredible. I devoured it, and wanted more from the characters. It's hard to explain without giving away spoilers, so I will just say this,
Read It!! Love It!! Review It!!

So much hotness in one book.
And stairwells are my new favorite place! ;)
