Vengeance Obtained

Rate this book
Marcel Dekrey, angel of The Lord and nine-hundred year old vampire, is a double agent in service to The Most High God. Marcel is charged with a clear mandate; observe and report to the heavenly host events as they unfold in the dangerous world of anomalies--vampires, werewolves, witches, warlocks, demonic creatures, and variations of each--which exists within our own, and intercede if and when necessity demands.

Necessity does indeed demand when Marcel learns a recent attack against him was orchestrated by his ancient enemy, Stefano the Gouge. The assault is part of his enemy's plan to use Marcel's duel nature to enact a ritual derived from a powerful artifact which has been in the possession of the human military since the end of World War II; The Book of the Dead.

With a number of short stories published online under the pseudonym Marcel 7, Eric M. Gore was inspired to write vengeance obtained while waiting inside children’s hospital of Philadelphia for a donor heart for his one year old daughter. The Lord blessed Eric and his family with a wonderful donor family on September 8, 2013, the same day Logan had been christened. Eric is a faithful Christian soldier of God. A native of Philadelphia, he is a former Philadelphia police officer, and he is presently a firefighter, husband, and father.

This book was interesting. It wasn't great but it wasn't a total letdown, either. The plot was certainly creative and the author definitely spun an interesting tale of a world of vampires, lycans, wizards plus Christianity. There was a lot going on in this book, and I liked how there was a wide cast of characters but sometimes the constant switching back and forth between the characters' POVs was a little confusing. My biggest complaint about the book is that it should have been edited more carefully - I did notice a lot of punctuation errors and POV inconsistencies and sometimes phrases were repeated.

Was this the best book I ever read? No. But it wasn't the worst, either. I would recommend this book if you are very religious and into gore and supernatural mythos.

PS: this book is a good example of how people abuse reviews on Goodreads and giveaways. If you don't want to read vampire books, why sign up to win a book that is obviously about vampires? You have done a serious disservice to the author by screwing him out of receiving honest feedback AND you prevented someone who might actually, legitimately be interested in this novel from winning it in the giveaway. And a 1 star review will obviously impact the rating. Seeing reviews like that make me angry on behalf of authors, like Eric Gore, who obviously put a lot of time and effort into developing this mythical and spiritual world for his novel. If you don't want to read a vampire book, don't mindlessly sign up for a book about them!

I won this book on goodreads. I was very excited to read the book. However, if I never see the word vampiric or vampirically again, it will be too soon. This just wasn't my style of book, but someone else may really like it.

I won this book by participating to the Goodreads Give away, in which i participated because the resume seemed good, the story full of things I love: vampire, werewolves, angels, all together fighting along humans.

To be honest I only finished the book to make sure I had the right impression of it and I was not going to give a bad review without giving it a chance until the end.
I really did not enjoy reading it, I am kind of glad it is very short, which is ironically one of the negative things I have against the book.

The book is so short that the author has to force feed us a lot of information all compact at the beginning of the chapter, nearly in bullet points and it is very heavy to swallow.
The few characters that we read about have no depth at all, they are stereotypes of what you can expect from their species, doing what all the stories written before and they have to intelligence what so ever.

There so much of useless information but the important one is missing. I don´t care about the brand of the card the protagonist own and technical details, I want to know more about why God decided to put an angel inside a vampire body, I want to know more about the werewolves society, I want to know more about the human factions.

There are a lot of good points to explore in this book, and they may deserve to have a longer story written, but the author style is not easy and fluid, you really have to fight to continue.
I was a bit disappointed about this book, it would have been better longer, or maybe cut in several books, to let us digest all this world the author created, with more sense and logic.

All fair enough assessments. I guess if I had any request, it would be a plea for anyone who liked the book to tell us all what you enjoyed about it. If you came up to me while I was at the supermarket or the restaurant and told me how much you enjoyed this action novel, please by all means tell us what prompted you to give it five or four or three stars. It's for you that I wrote Vengeance Obtained, and its sequel, Unnatural Omnipotence, and for you I am writing Funny Strange. If you liked it, please be as vocal about what you liked as those who disliked it. Nevertheless, I would like to say thanks to EVERYONE who has taken the time to read and review my work. I will contiue to strive to improve so thatt anyone can enjoy my writing. Thanks!

I was asked to read Vengeance Obtained in exchange for an honest review. This is the story of Marcel, a double agent for Angels and vampires. I know, it sounds kind of weird…it was.  I found it hard for me to get into, as I was confused with the format at first; I found myself becoming more interested in some chapters than others. It was easier for me to read the story by skipping the chapters and reading by the different point of views, than in the order it was written. For example, I read all the chapters about Marcel first, the ones about area 51 second, and so on. Once I did this, I like it.

The characters were well developed; the concept was unique and well thought out. Once you get into it and figure out what’s going on, it’s a good read.

Vengeance Obtained is a well written, uniquely brilliant concept, with a severe lack of organization. Overall, I give it 3 Boundless Stars; “it was good, but could have been better.” If written in a format that is easier to follow, this could have easily been a 5 star book....Beth

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

Once again, readers, we have a story with a brilliant premise but the execution fell a little short. So much more could have been done with this than what was. There were times where there were whole paragraphs of useless information and this made the story drag.

It also switches points of view quite often during the chapters and this leads to confusion. One paragraph will be in first person and the next will be in third. After awhile I figured out that most of the first person point of view was for Marcel, but it still takes you out of the story when it suddenly switches.

The main characters were interesting and it was neat to learn about how Marcel came to be and his relationship with Kari and Kasz. I was a little sad to see most of the human characters be introduced and have a back story like they were important, only to be killed off.

I am going to give this one three stars.

I was very excited when I found out I won the contest for the giveaway on this book. Reading the preview of the book, it seemed to pack a punch as far as the amount of action and characters involved. To my disappointment, this book seems to be tailored toward a teenage boy, but without much substance. While I enjoy have monsters and vampires in my books, this was too much in such a short space. You can't put every ingredient in the kitchen into your casserole and expect it to blend together well. There wasn't enough character development to become connected with the characters.
It appears this is the first published work from Mr. Gore and I hope he continues to pursue a carrier in writing. As far as recommending this book to anyone, I would say an older teenage male (because of the sometimes extreme gore (no pun intended)) would enjoy this type of book. It definitely does not have a lack of action in it.

I won a copy of this book; this is an honest review. I would have rated this book higher if I was into vampires and supernatural beings more; interesting concept of a vampire angel. The biggested trouble I had was figuring out from who's perceptive the story was being told, it took a while when reading each chapter of who's view I was looking at the story from. I would recommend this book to those who like stories about vampires and the like as it does look at this world from a different take with the main protaganist being both a vampire and a angel and exploring the concept of heaven and hell is more grey than black and white.

Got a physical copy of this book from the author to review.
Its the story of Marcel,
a angle of The Lord and a vampire who report to God about the circumstances in the world of vampires, werewolves, witches, warlocks and so on!
Marcel must stop his ancient enemy, Stefano from putting an end to reality itself!
I love vampire and all those stuff but I really didn't liked this one! It was confusing at times and boring throughout.
The first chap is of no use. Action is still nice(thats why I gave it 2 star

This gumbo has all the ingredients: vampires, lycans, witches, N’awlins… I’m sure there’s a kitchen sink in there somewhere. It’s a quick read with lots of evil violence, back-biting and head pulping goo. I’d normally be all over so many different critters and victors of the dark but this may be a case of too many spices to enjoy the stew.

An advanced copy of this book was provided for an honest review.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't get into this book and I didn't even finish it. I found it confusing sometimes and at others times was hard to read. The premise itself is very good, but I found it very hard going in the first few chapters and so put it down. Again, sorry, but others may find it captivating. It just wasn't for me.

I struggled with the beginnings of this but I am glad I persevered. This is an example of what could be in the ultimate battle of good and evil and how God's love helps to even the score. At times this battle put chills down my spine.

I am glad I read this book. I won it from one of Goodreads' giveaways and very thankful that I won.
