3.75 Two men who both doing things they were not comfortable with. Just to please the other and afraid they were not enough. I liked it and I didn't. Sometimes I really felt it and there were good parts. And sometimes it was not convincing. Just the phrases with 'not saying things and only thinking them even when everything is falling apart' didn't amuse me.
Like there has to be drama it was somewhat overdone.
The italicized phrases didn't make sense to me at all. They were flat. And sort of childish.
The boys really weren't honest to each other. And that of course can only go wrong.
The structure of the story was good. It developed well. Now and then to much drama and the greater part it was convincing and heart wrenching and I could feel connection.
The blurb tells you about the boys. Zack feels completely misunderstood and Archie is naive about deeper feelings, they so need to be open and honest. Finally almost to late they open up.
Overall a good read.

"Una storia d'amore" racconta di Zack e Archie, del loro rapporto, della vita di coppia e del cambiamento che si sta abbattendo sulla loro falsa serenità. Ho conosciuto nel libro precedente la patina in superficie di questi due ragazzi, non li ho accettati, sicuramente li ho detestati ma grazie a questa storia mi sono immersa nel loro rapporto, ho nuotato nei loro pensieri e sono quasi affogata nei loro cuori. L'autrice è molto brava nell'introspezione dell'animo umano, mette a nudo le emozioni più profonde ed inconsce rendendo partecipe intimamente il lettore. Questa è una storia d'amore dove per anni le regole erano ben definite: all'inizio per divertimento poi per paura, paura di non essere abbastanza, paura di perdere la cosa più importante della vita, c'è un rapporto fatto di muri di silenzio, di mancanza di apertura nel chiedere quello che davvero si vuole e tutto crolla quando i segreti, la paura e le recriminazioni vengono a galla e allora forse l'amore, quello che calma e consola, quello che fa sentire completi e a casa non basta più. Per me non è stato facile leggere questa storia. Ho letteralmente odiato provare la stessa angoscia dei protagonisti, vederli chiusi nel proprio subbuglio emotivo. Ho odiato il groppo in gola nello scoprire la fragilità di Zack, il suo passato di perdita, sentirne la stessa angoscia e senso di soffocamento per colpa della crudeltà di un padre che non lo ha mai amato e lo ha sommerso negli anni solo di parole spregevoli. Ho odiato non poterlo abbracciare e sussurrargli che lui è abbastanza, che è amato e non ha bisogno di attaccare per non essere attaccato, che non deve uccidere per non essere ucciso. È un dolore indescrivibile vivere questi due ragazzi che si amano profondamente ma non riescono a trovare il modo di aiutarsi, di parlare dei loro sentimenti e bisogni. Archie che è il più forte e più equilibrato si perde nella paura e nel quotidiano, nel dare tutto per scontato. Entrambi sono ragazzi reali; i difetti, gli sbagli e l'impotenza sono descritti perfettamente, potremmo tranquillamente essere noi, potrebbe essere la nostra vita, la nostra storia d'amore e questo mi ha turbata intimamente. La vita di coppia non è facile se non c'è dialogo, fiducia e apertura, anche i sentimenti più grandi possono non bastare se non si lavora su se stessi in primis. A volte si devia dal percorso, a volte un estraneo può minare la coppia oppure può essere l'aiuto ad esorcizzare il passato, ad aprirsi e sentire l'affinità nel dolore ma è l'amore, quello grande e totale che fa aprire gli occhi e il cuore e fa iniziare un nuovo percorso insieme, fatto di tutto quello che è mancato fino ad ora. Intenso, emotivamente destabilizzante, a tratti malinconico…

Ho iniziato a leggere questo libro con un po’ di ansia per il ricordo del primo romanzo che assomigliava a un giro spericolato sulle montagne russe. Qui troviamo Archie e Zack, che abbiamo già un po’ conosciuto nel volume precedente, se vi ricordate, loro sono gli amici di Rick. Il libro parla della storia d’amore tra Archie e Zack, la quale mi ha fatto penare e anche sorridere. L’autrice è stata molto brava a farci calare nell’introspezione dell’animo umano, è riuscita nell’intento di mettere a nudo le emozioni più profonde e inconsce, rendendo partecipe intimamente il lettore. Un libro ben scritto che, a mio parere, è decisamente più emozionante del primo… quindi che dire se non, lo consiglio!
Per me non è stato facile leggere questa storia. Ho letteralmente odiato provare la stessa angoscia dei protagonisti, vederli chiusi nel proprio subbuglio emotivo. Ho detestato percepire un groppo in gola nello scoprire la fragilità di Zack, il suo passato, sentivo la sua stessa angoscia e quel senso di soffocamento, suscitato dalla crudeltà di un padre che non lo ha mai amato e lo ha sommerso, negli anni, solo di parole spregevoli. Mi sono sentita impotente nel non poterlo abbracciare e sussurrargli che lui è abbastanza, che è amato e non ha bisogno di attaccare per non essere attaccato.
Vediamo Archie come quello muscoloso ma dal carattere pacato, tranquillo, razionale, che si è fatto da sé, e che ha una famiglia sempre pronta a supportarlo, è praticamente l’opposto di Zack, più esile e molto più nervoso, sempre insoddisfatto, dal carattere difficile. Lui si nasconde dietro il cinismo per non far vedere la propria sofferenza, attacca, prima di essere attaccato e ha sempre in testa quella voce che gli sussurra che è inadeguato, ma soprattutto che non è abbastanza per gli altri, né tantomeno per Archie.
Anche qui vediamo un filo conduttore con due persone diverse tra di loro che riescono ad amarsi e stare insieme da anni.
Il cuore di Archie si era sciolto. Qualunque cosa tu voglia, tesoro.
Archie conosce bene Zack, eppure non riesce a sentire il grido silenzioso che fuoriesce dal suo cuore incasinato.
Ho bisogno che me lo dimostri, Archie. Non dirmelo, ragazzone. Fammi vedere che mi ami.
Entrambi i nostri ragazzi sono veri, reali, nonostante le loro differenze sono meravigliosi insieme, è però doloroso viverli, vederli perché si amano profondamente ma non riescono a trovare il modo di aiutarsi, di parlare dei loro sentimenti e bisogni. Ed è in questo modo che si creano delle spaccature che permettono l’entrata in scena di altre persone, e spesso può succedere che quest’ultime rappresentino un paracadute, che ci impedisce di schiantarci al suolo facendoci sicuramente molto più male. Terry Franklin, è proprio questo, un paracadute, per il nostro complicato Zack. Archie accetterà la vicinanza tra i due? Riuscirà a vedere l’uomo che ama in compagnia di Terry? Cosa succederà?
Beh non vi resta che scoprirlo, dando una possibilità a questa storia di entrarvi dentro, di penetrarvi sotto pelle e nel cuore, perché sono sicura che è quello che succederà e farà parte di quei libri che ogni tanto vorrete rileggere.

Slow burn and lots of growing up to do
Zack is rich and sexy and with the man he loves...and has no self worth and layers of pain he doesn't dare show.
Archie is a strong handsome successful businessman and with the man he adores...and is so afraid of losing him that he can't provide the support or dig for the answers that he needs to hear.
This book is a straightforward romance, focused solely on the development of the relationship between the MCs...A story of two guys who have been together since their teens, reevaluating their life, love and commitment. A lot of the book we are in their heads suffering their fears while revelling in their love for each other. Angst is a sticky thing throughout.
Recommend for a melancholy read with a happy ending.
Ratings on scales of importance to me in mm romance:
Smexy scale 1-5:4
Explicit sex scenes are frequent; invariably we see the deeper connection between the two
Angst scenes 1-5:5
Although I held tight to the possible happy ending, we have to roll with some pretty thick angst here. Zack has painful history, awful family, and traumatic event occur, and a deep lack of trust in love....Archie is unable to figure out how to communicate and be what Zack needs. Sad to have all that going on, and yet feel how much they each love the other.
Overall, I gave the book 4 stars based on solid romance with high 'angst quality'.
Humor scale 1-5: 1.
Not a funny book.
Likable MCs scale: 4
Okay, the books has usual obstacles x 100, of miscommunication and fears blocking Twu Wove....and yet Ryecart really layers on the love, and so I patiently waited for them to grow into the couple they could be.
Couple of things that bugged me
Do you like the angst with mm love?
I recommend Christmas Kitsch by Amy Lane and
Out of the Blues by Mercy Celeste.

Communication is a Must!
The Zack & Archie love story has elements of stray hookups, miscommunications or no communications and lots of coffee.
I liked the MCs, even though they seem obtuse at times. I also liked the band of friends, co-characters. A good solid read.

Loved this story and the characters. The story line was strong and the main characters were well developed and believable.... Archie and Zack have known each other for over a decade. At the beginning Archie suggested they bring a third man in to liven up their sex life. This gives Zack yet another reason to feel like he is not truly loved and enough for Archie. Zack has a long history of people not loving or accepting him for who he is. After years of making this work, Archie doesn't want to do this anymore, especially when another man, Terry, the bar man, catches Zack's eye. Archie's jealousy rears its ugly head and their relationship becomes very strained. Even Archie can't seem to find the time away from his job and the gym to reconnect with Zack and Zack realizes that he comes after those things for Archie. Zack has written short stories in the past and Archie and his other friends laughed about them in Uni, and when Archie sees Zack once again writing he puts Zack down once again. Zack feels he is nothing in Archie's eyes, and after he talks with a old woman she makes him realize he is an artist in his own write with the stories he wants to write. This changes his life, making him feel he has a job and a passion about doing something. Terry meets him one day and the two have developed an extraordinary friendship, they understand one another because of what they have gone through. Terry offers to help Zack with his stories. Archie and Zack have agreed to change their lives where it is just the two of them, but Archie finds Zack and Terry at a cafe with Terry's arms around Zack and everything in their lives blows up including their relationship. Both are torn apart and this is one more person taken away from Zack. Is their love for one another strong enough to get through this? Will Archie understand what has really happened? Zack has written a story called 'The Story of Love', which is one of Zack's and Archie's love from the beginning to now. Eye opener for all who reads it. Highly recommend this story. Beautiful story of life and love with the ups and downs they hit on the way and the past that sometimes haunts us. Emotional roller coaster ride. Have your tissues ready because it will bring tears to your eyes.

Se avete dato una possibilità a Rick e Matt di conquistarvi leggendo la loro storia, non potrete non amare anche Zack e Archie. Loro mi hanno incuriosito già nella storia precedente, così diversi, così all’opposto.
Per me era il primo libro che leggevo sia inerente l’autrice che come genere, all’inizio ero infatti un po' incerta su questa lettura ma poi, non sono riuscita a fermarmi. Ho amato il modo dolce con cui l’autrice ha trattato il tema, sappiamo bene che nonostante il nostro vivere in una società moderna, i pregiudizi sono ancora all’ordine del giorno.
Voglio perciò essere onesta su una cosa, il personaggio che meno avevo apprezzato in questa seconda storia mi ha rubato il cuore, non me lo aspettavo. Ancora una volta un libro mi ha dato un grandissimo insegnamento: mai giudicare qualcosa o qualcuno da quello che fa vedere o dalle apparenze, ognuno di noi è un mondo a parte, è un tesoro e porta con se fardelli che spesso non sono visibili agli occhi di chi guarda, ma questo non vuol dire che non ci siano.
Spesso non riusciamo a trovare conforto negli amici di una vita o nella persona che amiamo perché per loro noi non dovremmo mai soffrire, ma la vita si sa non è clemente con nessuno, Zack il ragazzo menefreghista, il ragazzo impulsivo, quello senza peli sulla lingua, quello che spesso vorreste prendere a pugni, è sicuramente quel personaggio che rivaluterete nel corso delle pagine, è quel personaggio che vedrete soffrire senza sapere cosa fare, ma vorrete entrare nella storia semplicemente per poterlo abbracciare, o comunque questo è quello che è successo me.

Sono in un ritardo pauroso con la lettura di questo libro e mi dispiace. E' capitato proprio nel bel mezzo di un periodo pieno di emozioni intense e contrastanti e mi sono bloccata con la lettura. Ma allo stesso tempo questo libro mi ha accompagnato. Mi sono ritrovata nelle stesse difficoltà loro, sembrava quasi che a volte io fossi Zack, altre volte Archie. Stranissima questa cosa ahahahaha. Nel precedente libro Zack non faceva proprio una bella figura nei riguardi di Matt. Non che qui i loro rapporti siano rose e fiori ahahahah. Comunque ho scoperto uno Zack fragile e pieno di insicurezze. Un ragazzo con un padre che non l'ha mai amato. Un ragazzo che si è sentito sempre abbandonato. E invece un Archie che sembrava "perfetto", sbagliare nei confronti suoi. E' stato estremamente superficiale a non interessarsi totalmente di Zack. Il principale problema della loro storia è stata la comunicazione, pensare di sapere cosa l'altro pensa... è qualcosa di sbagliato. Poi se ci aggiungiamo le insicurezze personali e la frittata è fatta. Bisogna parlare, parlare e parlare, fino allo sfinimento, finchè tutto non si chiarisce. Ho avuto veramente paura per loro due, perchè è verissimo che quando si perde la fiducia in un partner.... molto difficilmente l'amore può bastare per costruire qualcosa di importante. Non è il caso di Zack e il suo ragazzone <3. Bellissimo libro, che avrei letto in due giorni se non avessi avuto un periodo no -_-

Fluctuating between 3 and 4 stars. I find it hard to rate a story when I do not like most of the characters, especially when one is a main MC. Point blank...not a fan of Archie. He is selfish, judgmental, and hypocritical. He has an emotional affair in Zack's time of need then gets angry when Zack gets himself a friend. Even when he finally gets his head out of his nether regions, he makes his apology all about him amd once again, Zack is comforting Archie even though he is the wronged party. Don't even get me started on Matt or Rick. They are absolutely the worst people and Ricj is a horrible friend. The only characters, besides Zack, that are decent are Jake and Terry. I wish Zack would've ended up with Terry or someone else. He deserves better.
Lastly, while some may complain about how the entire book is one giant miscommunication trope, I think it is realistic. So, many couples lack communication skills in relationships and resentment grows from that issue. The author did well with this particular trope. I believe if more time had been spent on the reconciliation, with Archie groveling and showing true growth while spoiling Zack with attention, this would have been 4 stars.

Inizialmente ho affrontato questo libro con molte riserve visto che i due protagonisti, conosciuti già nel libro precedente, non mi erano piaciuti per niente visto il particolare rapporto che avevano. In questo libro capiamo come mai e il perché delle loro discutibili scelte, fa capire quanto i silenzi e il pensare di fare le cose che potrebbero aiutare la coppia ma che invece peggiorano le situazioni, possano mandare in crisi un rapporto. Anche in questo secondo libro quello che pensi sia il sostegno della coppia, Archie, è quello che invece fa casini e complica tutto, il bello che se i due avessero parlato dei loro problemi, bisogni e sentimenti sin dall’inizio si sarebbero risparmiati anni di eccessi e stupidate che non hanno portato a nulla. Anche qui ho adorato Jack che con la sua saggezza si è rivelato un vero amico è di cui ora mi precipiterò a leggere il libro.

This is not your typical love story In my opinion. It is a story about love, anguish, trust issues, betrayal, hurt, and maybe just maybe a happy ending if the two characters can get to the point to where they can communicate with one another.
Everyone believes that Archie is the perfect boyfriend. That he goes along with having a third in his and Zach's relationship when all along it was Archies idea in the first place. I do not think that Archie is a bad person but I do believe that he has lost perspective of his relationship and even though he says he tries in it, I do not think that he actually does. He just goes along with the flow for the most part but when Zach makes suggestions such as going away together Archie always has other things hat are more important. I think that Archie wants his and Zach's relationship to be better but he is scarf to communicate it with Zach and I also believe that it is easier for Archie to assume the worst of Zach then it is to actually trust that he would not betray him.
Zach is miserable. That I can tell from the start. He is not happy with the way things are going with him and Archie and when he tries to talk to Srchie about it, it ends in a fight and then they make up as if nothing has happened. And there lies one of the problems. Nothing is being fixed and it festers between the two of them and eventually turns them apart.
This book is full of accusations, mistrust, misunderstandings, pain, and heartache. But it is also full of hope and love. This was a great book with a lot of truth in it. Loved this read and look forward to more by AE Ryecart in the future.

This is the second book in the Urban Love series and can be read as a standalone. Though Archie and Zach were minor secondary characters in the first book, this story focuses solely on their relationship. For readers of the series, Rick and Matt from the first book play a strong secondary role.
Readers should know that this isn’t a light-hearted romance story. It is gritty and real. Archie and Zach have been bringing in anonymous hookups for the last few years to spice up their relationship. While it initially started out as fun, it has left both of them feeling as if they aren’t enough to satisfy each other. In essence, their relationship has disintegrated around them as they’ve forgotten how to communicate outside of the bedroom.
When Zach meets Terry, the hot barman, Archie is adamant that he is not to be part of their lives – in or out of the bedroom. Yet, Zach and Terry have a connection that is too strong to ignore. Both carrying around baggage from their childhoods, they are kindred spirits who have the power to help each other heal. Zach knows that his relationship with Terry can destroy his relationship with Archie, so he begins to keep their friendship a secret. Hace un tiempo que leí este libro y aún me acuerdo de él de vez en cuando por la frustración y el enojo que me generó.
En resumen porque no quiero alargarme hablando de un libro que odié, creo que la autora no conoce el término "infidelidad emocional" que es exactamente lo que pasa aquí, no todo es sexo ni contacto físico, desde el momento en que Zack tenía ganas de estar con Terry, aún sabiendo que Archie no se sentia cómodo con eso es INFIDELIDAD, toda la relación de "amistad" de Zack con Terry fue infidelidad emocional en su máxima expresión y odié con toda mi alma que la autora hiciera quedar a Archie como el "loco y celoso" que se imagina cosas y peor aún, Archie tuvo que disculparse y buscar a Zack después de que Archie se enterara que Zack había estado viéndose por meses a escondidas con Terry como "amigos".
Este ha sido de los libros que más me ha enojado en la vida, me dio asco como manipuló la situación Zack para hacer quedar como que Archie se había equivocado cuando él es un maldito infiel, Archie tenía todos los motivos para desconfiar y no sé equivocó, Zack le fue infiel a Archie aunque no haya tenido sexo con Terry (que en un inicio le llamaba la "fruta prohibida" de las ganas que tenía de estar con él).

What a wonderfully written book. I must admit that I didnt read the first in the series and I don't feel i missed anything by this. but i am going to read it now.
I have never read a book that could have been condensed so much about 90% if only the MCs had communicated. I nearly lost my kindle to a wall about 4 times. It could have been more. Just because they couldnt/wouldnt talk to each other. They went around in this loving relationship blind to what each other wanted, needed and felt.
A few spoken conversations instead of in their heads could have helped them so much. It would have avoided the trouble anyway.
But still loved the book. The characters drew you into their lives and you wanted more from them. The writing flowed and had a good pace to it. I loved the secondary characters I think this might be where reading book one might have been helpful. I'm hoping some of the others we saw in this book might appear in a further book in this series.

What a dark, gritty, sad story. Archie and Zack live together as boyfriends but invite thirds in to play on regular basis. Their friends can see that this will be trouble down the road. Even Archie is getting tired of it. But these two can't seem to communicate and as jealousy emerges, there's a lot more trouble than they bargained for.
While reading this story, I cried, threw my book and talked to myself out loud. So much angst that you could see coming from a mile away. Such an emotional story but darkly beautiful. You root for Archie and Zack to work through their issues and even feel badly for the Terry. It's one big mess with everyone pushing everyone away even though that's the last thing they want. In the end, I had my tissues and enjoyed the ride I had just went on.

As with previous books I've read from this author, I love the story. The angst is real, sometimes a bit continuous but I like reading it. Then everything explodes, and after some soulsearching it is resolved so quickly my head is spinning. I would have loved the resolution to get some more attention. Now it just feels like "I was wrong" "No I was", love and kissing and all is fine again.

This is a sequel that works perfectly as a stand alone! Archie and Zack have been together since college. This is the story of how hard relationships can be and how easy it is to get to comfortabel adn forget to commnunicate. This second chance romance is well written and lovely.

Absolutely amazing read an emotional rollercoaster ride for sure.If you read book 1 you don't want to miss this you will see Zack in a whole different light he really isn't the ass you think he is in the 1st book.
