I was first drawn to this book by that cover, I mean, just look at that muscled mass of…yes, I have to say it…meat! Rex Keene is on his way to Minneapolis which was to be his new home. But his flight was delayed due to a terrible snow storm. In the airport he was quite literally bowled over by a beautiful woman when she ran right into him. It seems she was on her way to the same gate, not realizing the flight was delayed.
Rebecca Winston has been away from work for three weeks. She is a manager of one of the restaurants in a large hotel in Minneapolis. Her beloved aunt became ill and then passed away so Rebecca stayed until after the funeral. On her way back home, while rushing to make her plane, she runs into the most beautiful man she has ever seen. When the flight is delayed overnight, well, you can guess what happens next. A night of passion like either of them has ever experienced.

Once again, it didn’t take much more than the title to get me to press the ol’ clickity click. You do realize what is being talked about in a book like this with a title like Meat, right?????
And when I found out it was about a dominating alpha male in the form of a chef????
Don’t tell me you haven’t fantasized about Gordo calling you a “bloody donkey” in the best way possible too. But then I actually read the book and I was all . . .
So many problems. To begin with, this was short. I mean REALLY short. I’d let you know the exact length, but unfortunately it’s not referenced anywhere. I can assure you, however, that it is waaaaaay shorter than Rex’s wang which was the equivalent of a baby’s arm with anapple plum at the top. Now, short is not necessarily the worst thing in the world, but to try and cram a full plot into this was like playing a record on the wrong speed. Bet I lost half of you there. A record? What a dinosaur I am! Translation is this puppy was on fast-forward so there was a LOT happening (like the meet/cute to the one-nighter when they couldn’t even slow down to put on a rubber to the second (not so) meet/cute to the luuuuuuuurv to the dun dun dunnnnnnnnn to the big reveal to the high speed finish), but not much of it was really talked about. Except the sex. That was talked about. A lot. Using words like . . .
“slick petals” and “thick corona” and “back passage” and “suckle” . . .
And also . . .
“His big tongue glided over her again, enthusiastic and thorough.”
Nope.
I’d say I learned my lesson, but today I logged back on again and found I had a “wish granted” for a different porno that I had completely forgot I even requested. I have a shame . . .

I'm actually surprised I finished this when I paused a few times to laugh my tail off at scenes I don't think were intended to be funny. Romantic comedy this is not. There were some decent parts and I did end up liking Rex to some degree but I feel this book was trying to be too much in short page space and it fell short for me. The biggest area for improvement was consistency. It starts off as a decent enough airport hookup. It seemed to progress alright there. Then they introduce the MONSTER appendage Rex can apparently almost sling over his shoulder. Some of those references are definitely eye-roll material. Then they decide to throw in some "light" BDSM and let me tell you that it reads in a less sexy, more awkward way. More eye rolls. Then they return to the regular romance again. Girl meets guy again at her job. They clash there. Then they clash in the bedroom. Enter awkward BDSM Master/slave play that made me cringe. Then they're in love. Trouble at work. Blah blah blah. They get their HFN. I liked it a lot more when it was just straightforward guy meets girl at airport. Wish it would've stuck to that. Kudos on the hot cover. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. Neither were Vs. No rape/abuse.

I went into this story knowing absolutely nothing except that I loved the cover and the blurb also sounded good. So imagine my surprise that this book turned out to be quite good and on top of that the sexy scenes were mild BDSM that I enjoyed a lot. ;)
It all starts with a flight delay and with two people that got stuck at the airport because of it. They start talking, find each other to be a pleasant company and decide to explore that attraction a bit furder, since it's cold and all that. I mean somehow they have to keep themselves warm, right?
Anyway, once they return back to their normal lives, they find a surprise or two about who they will be working with in the future. And lets just be honest, we don't always like who we work for...
The book isn't a very long one. It's a mix of sexy and suspense. There is also a cover up going on, so that ws a bonus, too. Rex or the T-Rex as they call him is a great character and I really liked him. He knows how to be in charge, in and out of the bedroom. I wasn't such a huge fan of Rebecca's at times but otherwise she's not such a bad character. At times naive but with a good heart. I found it quite enjoyable and I definitely don't regret reading it.

Super Short - Super Hot.
I enjoyed this one for what it was. A short and sexy read.
Rex claimed to be a DOM, but he really needed to work on those skills because he came off as more of a "wannabe" Dom, than an actual one. Still I rather liked him in all his "monster cock" glory.
Rebecca gave me whiplash with all her back and forth behavior towards Rex. How hard is to have a CONVERSATION before jumping to conclusions?? Apparently extremely hard in this book.
The plot felt a bit rushed. There was A LOT going on apart from the romance of the main couple. Most of which was never resolved in a satisfactory way. A lot of loose ends, with a rather abrupt ending.
All that said, this gets a solid 3 stars from me because it did keep me interested enough to keep turning the pages.

Meat for me was a fast HOT read. The book is only around 114 pages and is filled with LOTS of sex! There was also a bit of a story too.
Rebecca literally crashed into Rex trying to catch her flight in an airport. She was not expecting to look up into a sexy stranger’s face. She was expecting anger from this stranger but what she got was a total gentleman.
Rex was immediately attracted to the lovely woman with the big doe eyes that just ran into him. When he sees that she is upset, he goes over and comforts her. Of course the weather is bad and their flight gets canceled. All the hotel rooms are book but Rex has a suite and it’s not long before he convinced her to join him there.
Things move offal fast between these two and before you know, Rex is getting her ready for his enormous cock. They spend most of the night having lots of sex. The next morning, Rex makes sure he has her phone number and tells her that he WILL be calling her soon.
This is where the storyline picks up and I don’t want to give too much of the story away.
I liked both Rex and Rebecca’s characters. She was so sweet to everyone and never seemed to notice what they were really up too. Some people who read Meat may think that she was dumb, liking everyone, being so trusting and caring about those who are around her in her day to day life.
As for Rex, I thought he was a total gentleman were Rebecca was concerned. He was always there when she needed him giving her comfort and watching out for her.
Some of the reasons I did not give this book a higher rating was because things seemed to move just too fast for me. Their relationship and the fact that they fell in love so fast. And also the ending, WAY too fast! I really wished Opal Carew would have made this book a bit longer.
My overall thoughts, I liked it. I like my reads hot and erotic and that’s what I got. If you’re in the mood for a fast HOT erotic romance, you might like to give this one a try.

Good part? It was short.
I admit, I skipped the sex parts (they were awful!). Don't get me wrong, I like some sexy time in books, but this one was about 40% sex (and bad one), 30% annoying stuff and well, the rest wasn't so bad.
The plot was interesting, and it could have been a great thing, if not for the annoying characters and the author wanting to put too many stuff in too few pages. I'm surprised the main char didn't end up pregnant, by the way their relationship was going.
As I said, the plot is interesting, so if you're willing to skim a good part of the book, it's worth reading. Ok, maybe it's not... but ah well, you win some, you lose some.

This is my first time (whoops, correction: Apparently I've read Twin Fantasies) I've read anything by Opal Carew (even though I think I own at least a half dozen of her books on my TBR pile). And for a first read...not too bad.
I had a few issues, but I think the good out weighed the bad.
For the good:
I liked the first meet scenario. Our heroine (pretty, hotel restaurant manager Rebecca) is running in the airport to make her connecting flight to Minneapolis when she crashes into our hero (hotel chef-who-specializes-in-'meat' Rex). Snowy weather ends up delaying their flight, and after some chit chat where serious sparks fly, they decide to have dinner together. When the flight gets cancelled, Rebecca accepts Rex's offer to share his hotel suite. Of course you know what happens next. To make a long story short, they end up in bed together, where Rebecca takes on the challenge of accepting Rex's enormous member.
"My God, that thing belongs on a horse."...The shaft was as big around as her forearm. Maybe bigger. (Me, shuddering...)
"If it's too intimidating, I understand."
His words soothed the roiling of her stomach at the sight of that monster. (isn't he a gentleman...)
Rex...
Yada, yada, yada, they decide they want to see each other again in Minneapolis (after she takes some time off to grieve for her recently deceased aunt and he takes care of some 'business'). (She doesn't know what he does for a living). Back at work managing an upscale hotel restaurant, Rebecca discovers that there's a new chef and he's been firing a lot of her friends who work there. What's going on? Rumor has it that the hotel will soon be under new ownership. Why does a chef have all this power? Imagine Becca's surprise when she's finally introduced to the new chef in town...and it's her one-night-stand: big, tattooed, and hunkalicious Rex. Awkward.
So yes, I liked the premise. I like a bad-weather-meeting, and didn't mind that they fell into bed together. They talked, they had chemistry, so all's good. And despite the fixation on Rex's girth, it thankfully didn't revolve around that. Okay, maybe it did just a bit...
There's more to the story, but maybe if it was a bit longer (I feel this was novella-length since I finished it so quickly) and more developed, I would've given it another half star. This is part of the bad. The other part is the ILYs came far too quickly (as did ) and the description of part of Rex's member (don't care to hear that word 'corona' again).
Some more good:
The sex scenes were hot. Rex seemed like a decent guy, if a bit controlling. He claimed he was a Dom, but he didn't seem too over the top in that regard. (although he did like for Rebecca to call him 'Master'). Ugh.
Rebecca was okay, if a bit naïve. I don't want to say much more about that, because it involves a bit of a plot twist. I also didn't care for how she didn't let Rex explain himself to her. Although on the other hand, he could've been more upfront with her. But then there wouldn't be much of a story without a 'misunderstanding', would there?
So, the title? A little double-entendre/euphemism, I guess. I get it.
All-in-all, not bad. It moved quickly, had some serious steam, and okay, maybe I rolled my eyes a time or two, but I didn't mind. It was just what I was looking for at the time. Now, maybe I need to dig out some full-length Opal Carew books from that TBR pile. A slightly generous 4 stars

Snowy weather ends up delaying their flight, and after some chit chat where serious sparks fly, they decide to have dinner together. When the flight gets cancelled, Rebecca accepts Rex's offer to share his hotel suite. Of course you know what happens next. To make a long story short, they end up in bed together, where Rebecca takes on the challenge of accepting Rex's enormous member.
"My God, that thing belongs on a horse."...The shaft was as big around as her forearm. Maybe bigger. (Me, shuddering...)
"If it's too intimidating, I understand."
His words soothed the roiling of her stomach at the sight of that monster. (isn't he a gentleman...)

Yada, yada, yada, they decide they want to see each other again in Minneapolis (after she takes some time off to grieve for her recently deceased aunt and he takes care of some 'business'). (She doesn't know what he does for a living). Back at work managing an upscale hotel restaurant, Rebecca discovers that there's a new chef and he's been firing a lot of her friends who work there. What's going on? Rumor has it that the hotel will soon be under new ownership. Why does a chef have all this power? Imagine Becca's surprise when she's finally introduced to the new chef in town...and it's her one-night-stand: big, tattooed, and hunkalicious Rex. Awkward.
So yes, I liked the premise. I like a bad-weather-meeting, and didn't mind that they fell into bed together. They talked, they had chemistry, so all's good. And despite the fixation on Rex's girth, it thankfully didn't revolve around that. Okay, maybe it did just a bit...
There's more to the story, but maybe if it was a bit longer (I feel this was novella-length since I finished it so quickly) and more developed, I would've given it another half star. This is part of the bad. The other part is the ILYs came far too quickly (as did ) and the description of part of Rex's member (don't care to hear that word 'corona' again).
Some more good:
The sex scenes were hot. Rex seemed like a decent guy, if a bit controlling. He claimed he was a Dom, but he didn't seem too over the top in that regard. (although he did like for Rebecca to call him 'Master'). Ugh.
Rebecca was okay, if a bit naïve. I don't want to say much more about that, because it involves a bit of a plot twist. I also didn't care for how she didn't let Rex explain himself to her. Although on the other hand, he could've been more upfront with her. But then there wouldn't be much of a story without a 'misunderstanding', would there?
So, the title? A little double-entendre/euphemism, I guess. I get it.
All-in-all, not bad. It moved quickly, had some serious steam, and okay, maybe I rolled my eyes a time or two, but I didn't mind. It was just what I was looking for at the time. Now, maybe I need to dig out some full-length Opal Carew books from that TBR pile. A slightly generous 4 stars

Well I'm not sure how this happened, I was perusing my pre-approved titles in NetGalley and saw the cover on this. The very overt cover made me laugh and I thought, why not, I like chef characters, I like kitchen romance. You can guess practically the entire story from the cover and title, except it isn't clear that it's a male-female romance (it is.) This takes the old plot line of a sex filled one night stand only to find said love interest is new boss/coworker and puts it in the restaurant world.
The short book (hardly longer than an erotic story really) is full of issues but let's be honest, that isn't why someone would read this book. Let me highlight a few that stuck out to me. No chef is going to smell like cologne when he hugs you in the kitchen after a long day, I mean come on, he'll smell like wood smoke or charcoal and grease and garlic and the walk-in and probably cigarettes or alcohol. And the speed at which trust and love develop between Rex and Rebecca is insanely unbelievable even for a romance, but bonus points for alliteration. Clearly they are made for each other. (Perhaps it is all the meat? Oh please do not make me spell this out for you.)
Sigh, I'm not sure why I'm even pointing these things out because it doesn't matter, I wasn't the audience and read it anyway because my review copy was about to expire. Thanks, publisher. I read the excerpt of the next novel(a?) and it seems to follow a very similar formula, same word choice even. (And I should say there are a lot of thrummings to be found in the barely 100 pages, because it's a great sex word. The more you know.)
Okay, so, there is a line between erotica and romance. This is not romance. The signs were there, from the hunky headless man only wearing an apron on the cover to the title. So as long as you know what you're getting, I think my job here is done.

Meat was a quick sexy hot read.
Rebecca and Rex are sexy together, this is pure instant lust/love, very predictable but enjoyable, over to quickly.
Rex was sweeter than I expected for a Dom.
One point that annoyed me (- one star) is that they are practically strangers when they have their one night stand and there was no mention of using condoms or any of the usual questions.
First time reading this author and enjoyed her writing style.

***Spoiler Alert! Pretty much this entire review is one big fat spoiler, but I feel you should read the spoiler to know what you're getting into.***
This book is literally one of the worst books I have read in a very long time. I dont usually give out too many 1 star ratings especially if I managed to make it to the end of the book. In the case of this book I can't really find much in redeemable qualities well except two things.. 1. The cover.. It is glorious! It's why I requested this title. I was thinking we were going to have a super hot tattooed bearded chef on our hands. And 2. The way they met was cute. They literally ran into each other in the airport and ended up being on the same flight. As a traveler I wouldnt mind that happening to me.... And now thats about all the good I have to say about this book.

This was a short, hot read! I'm not a fan of BDSM but it wasn't so blatant in this story so it didn't bother me.
I loved Rex. Rebecca annoyed me a little just because she kept cutting Rex off when she should have let him explain things in a few scenes, but overall this was a fun read.

Meat is exactly what you are expecting from the title and the knowledge that it is a Swerve title. Rex and Rebecca are a fun couple, from their meeting in the airport to the discovery that he is the new head chef who has been causing havoc in her beloved hotel restaurant.
There are the erotic elements that you would expect, the immediate sex and the other “erotic” elements. The book is also fairly short, so there is not as much character development as in a longer novel.
All of this said, this book is done really well. The sex is hot, the characters are believable, the dialog is real and feels like actual people are speaking the words. The secondary plot around the hotel gives some external conflict, while at the same time, it is dealt with quickly so it does not bog down the rest of the plot.
I recommend this overall. It is a well-written, short, hot read that delivers exactly what you expect in a way that is enjoyable.

With a blurb like this, you knew it was going to be a good book. But then you see the cover-yowza! Yes I would one-click this book because of that smokin' hot cover!! I mean, really! Look at those muscles..... And then the name Meat?!, and written by Opal Carew?! Gosh it was a no-brainer! I had to read this book!
Rex Keene was in the airport on his way to Minneapolis for a new venture. There was a snow storm raging so his flight was delayed. While walking, he's plowed into by the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. He did his best to catch her, get her sorted, and then help her find her proper gate.
Rebecca was in the airport on her way home from an extended time away for a funeral of a loved one. While running to her connecting gate, her heel snaps, catapulting her into the most beautiful man she has ever seen! After getting straightened out, she gets to her gate and Mr. Handsome's gate is one in the same! The flight is cancelled due to weather(oh my!), and hotel space is at a premium from all the flight cancellations(double oh my!), so the two decide to share his suite. There's two rooms in a suite~right?? Yea, you know what happens!! A night of unbridled passion unhinges them both. Definitely not what they each expected. The next morning, reluctant to say goodbye, they share numbers. Rebecca has never been cared for or protected after, like how Rex did for her last night. She wants to definitely see him again! Plus, Rex promises to call...
When Rebecca returns to her job, as a manager of an upscale hotel restaurant, she was shocked by the multitude of changes enacted while she was away. All due to a new chef firing her staff and hiring his own! Everybody is in a tizzy about the new tyrant in town! When Rex shows up at her hotel she finds out her handsome, caring man, and the tyrant chef are the same man-oh no!!
Rebecca has problems believing that this arrogant man is the same man she knew from the airport, but the sizzling chemistry is there. No matter how much she tries to stay away, she is weak-kneed around him. How can he be the same person?? She tries to say No, but her body is screaming Yes, Yes, Yes?!!!
It doesn't take her long, however, to realize something isn't right with him. He isn't willing to share it with her though. She's guessing the chef is just a cover. But for what?? Will it end with her having a broken heart?? She's determined to find out who Rex Keene really is and what he's really doing there.
I loved this short story! The characters are interesting and are people I would like to be friends with! Rex and Rebecca's attraction is off the charts! Talk about sizzling! The chef whose specialty is meat-specifically steaks and roasts, is also very endowed. So much so, most women can't handle his large friend. But of course, Rebecca can, and in more ways than one! I guess that gives her bonus points from the get-go! Rex knows he has to hold onto her, but when Rebecca finds out his true motive for being there, will she stay or will she bolt! What a super fun romance to sink your teeth into, or fork, or.... whatever!!

I was so excited to read this after reading an excerpt of it, but I wound up extremely disappointed by it! Don't get me wrong, the book did have it's good moments, but on the whole, I found it very hard to believe.
Rex was not believable as a Dom at all! It was as if all his domination knowledge came from 50 Shades of Grey and the lines he used were so cheesy! He never did any aftercare for Rebecca as his submissive, and seemed to allow her way too much latitude when it came to disrespecting him as her Master. His Dominance was not that dominant, in my opinion.
Also, if he was really that well endowed, any Dominant would know that he would have to prepare his partner very well for anal sex. Yet, in this story, little to no preparation was done for Rebecca, and she's miraculously able to take all of him immediately. This was not believable for me at all!
Rebecca also seemed too clueless for a hotel restaurant manager. She would be expected to be well versed in the computer systems used, and yet can't do something as simple as update software in this day and age? I really didn't think so, and even if that was the case, then that's what the hotel would pay IT guys for! Embarrassment for using them would not be a good enough excuse to get out of the consequences of leaving her system logged in, which resulted in embezzlement!
The story was engaging and entertaining, and the characters were easy to connect with overall, but the plot irregularities made it very difficult for me to be able to recommend this book to others.

Stick a fork in me... I'm DONE!!!
WOW! I have no idea why I never picked up an Opal Carew book before but sign me up for all the releases!
Meat sweats for everyone for this short, short read that is full of good food, drama, and deliciously wickedly kinky sex!
Why is it only in books do you run into a person for a night of hot and sweaty sex with a stranger only to have that said stranger to show up at your work. *Fist Pump* Yes more sexy times!
Rebecca while returning from her beloved Aunt's funeral runs into Rex spilling precious COFFEE (the horror!!!!) at an airport. But this short collision doesn't end there, turns out they are on the same flight to Minneapolis, the same flight that gets cancelled due to a snowstorm forcing the two to share a hotel room. Of course, serendipitously a hotel room is not the only place they end up sharing. Nor is it the only time they run into each other again.
The heat emanating from him as he closed in on her sent her stomach fluttering. Then his arms went around her and his lips captured hers in a consuming kiss. She tried to stay firm, but the feel of his persuasive lips . . . the warmth of his solid body against hers . . . drained her of the will to resist.
Turns out Rex is the new Chef at a Hotel where Rebecca works. However, the story is not without some drama as people are getting fired left and right, a new owner has acquired the hotel promising some big changes that rocks Rebecca's world even further. Luckily she has trusty Rex with some good old MEAT therapy for her.
I've simply loved the story! Short as it was I enjoyed the characters, the drama, and the very real instalove connection between Rex and Rebecca. Not a huge meat fan... but I'll have some of the MEAT served up in this book.

Although the book was predictable, I liked this quick read. I was immediately drawn into their world and the fast times that this couple shared.
Rex is our misunderstood sexy as hell chef that specials in meat. He's finally figured out what he wants for his career and has made changes to continue his success. When he stumbles into Rebecca , Rex decides to take a night for himself.
While it probably isn't the wisest move, Rebecca decides to share one night with a stranger. After her lust filled night she can't wait to see him again only once she does she treats him like a stranger . I found her to be a bit wishy washy and a little immature at times.
The book had some steamy scenes between Rex and Rebecca but it wasn't enough to sustain this pair as a couple though. The book had a little drama and suspense to keep me reading it.
It could have used an additional chapter to round out the story. The last few chapter were rushed and too much instant love for this pair.

I rolled my eyes so many times during this book I'm surprised they didn't roll out of my head and down the street that is how completely unbelievable this book was and the only reason I finished it was because it was so short it took me no time at all to read it.
The good about this book; the cover, the way this couple meets and had they had more time together I would have thoroughly enjoyed watching them fall in love.
The things about this book that didn't work; the hero having a schlong the size of a child's arm with the head the size of a plum, so big that most women back off when they see it. Right, sure that happens all the time . The use of the word petal or petals for the heroine's labia . The hero supposedly being a dominate...um, sure in what world? Maybe he likes to role play, but he is no dominate and she is no submissive; so completely unrealistic and honestly as slap in the face of that community. The rush to the "I love you" stage when they spent a good portion of this very short book with the heroine upset, angry and confused by the behavior of the hero just did not work.
This was my first book by this author and to be frank, I doubt I would ever pick up another book by her after this one. I was disappointed, I thought we were going to get a fun, quirky and sexy story about a chef and his co-worker and instead we got a convoluted story of a hotel takeover and a guy with a big d*ck trying to woo a woman by lying to her. Ugh, I'm sorry but just NO!

This book is as ridiculous as it’s title and cover. For real people, it was at times hard to read. So let’s start at the beginning shall we?
The book open with Rebecca mourning the lose of a beloved aunt. Apparently, being the glue that held everyone in the family together, Rebecca had to fly home to stay with her ailing aunt in her final days and then make the impending funeral arrangements. In doing all this, when she finally makes it to the airport on her way back home, she has a slight breakdown in the arms of a gorgeous man whom she has just met. Because the weather is bad, their flight (b/c DUH they are of course going to the same place) is cancelled and the man who she just met offers to share a hotel room with her. This kinda sounds like the plot of an episode of Criminal Minds or Law and Order SVU, but of course, our hero Rex isn’t trying to kill her, just, you know, get in her pants. He’s attentive and tender and Rebecca is pretty much falling all over herself to repay him for his kindness.
So things are getting hot and heavy and then we find out Rex is hung like a horse. Apparently it’s sooooooo big that other women won’t go near it. This woman writing this review included, because if I unzip your pants and a missile falls out, I’m done. Here is the description ya’ll…
“She’d had no idea a man could be that big. The head was the size of a plum- a really large plum. The shaft was as big around as her forearm. Maybe bigger.”
“She wrapped her hands around it, unable to get her fingers all the way around”
At this point, I reached over and tried to wrap my fingers around my husbands wrist to get a visual of just how big we were talking. My fingers wouldn’t close on his wrist…no…just no. No dude, hot or not, is putting that thing anywhere near me. Sorry for your luck. You can go downtown with that tongue ONLY. There’s also a very uncomfortable BJ scene. The entire time I’m picturing side show sword swallowing and cringing. CRINGING.
Alright, so Rebecca’s one night stand turns up at her place of work as the new head chef. *cue impending doom music* He was hired because he can make a mean steak. And that’s what a hotel restaurant needs to be good at I guess? He’s hell bent on firing half the staff and he’s accusing them of stealing. Rebecca is pissed that he’s uprooting everyone and mad about his drastic change in demeanor from personal to work life. Not pissed enough to stop fucking him, but you know, she’s pissed. He tells her he’s a Dom during some hate sex. She’s all like, “ok” without even thinking about it because she’s heard it’s fun. *eye roll* He gives her some cheesy safe word that you know she’s going to bust out in a fight and not during sex and that’s exactly what happens some time later when she finds out Rex isn’t who he says he is.
This is just bad guys…it was so bad that had it not been a novella I would have stopped long before the end. With stellar lines like:
“What I want is a big piece of meat”
I can’t take this serious. I just…ugh…that is all.

Falling for Rex Keene was the last thing that Rebecca Winston ever intended to do. But a lost battle with the heel of a very uncooperative shoe in O'Hare International Airport. Coupled with a very hot and steamy night of 'snowed in' sub/ dom play. May have her doing just that.
If circumstances outside the bedroom don't manage to ice the burgeoning fire between Rex and his superlative submissive first... that is.
Rebecca's frazzled emotional state due to the recent death of her aunt, the fight with her footwear, and her overwhelming attraction to the mysterious and masterful Rex Keene. Go very far in explaining, but not excusing the fact that she finds herself on a first name basis with our leading man's Grade A packaged 'man meat'; long before the two of them ever achieve a working last name knowledge of each other.
What is substantially harder to sweep under the already suspiciously bumpy rug of plausible deniability, however?
The fact that one night spent with this albeit gorgeous man and his very extraordinary package. The man that she trusted enough to let breach almost every orifice her body had to offer. (Condom not included!) The same man that she was so comfortable with after just a few hours of idle chatter in an airport. Is the same person granted near Card Blanche to dominate her...pre safeword!
But a man to be questioned at every turn, hounded relentlessly, and doubted in action word and deed. When his role as the new head chef at the restaurant that she manages is discovered.
Miss Carew, I'm sorry to say, "That plot steak is a little to raw for even this seasoned erotica lover... and I'm a girl who likes her cow mooing!"
That is to say that while this book is well written. At least, from a technical standpoint. The post coital plot is one that proves very problematic.
The biggest reason NOT including our leading couple's rather worrisome fall into the pit of questionable insta-lust behaviors?
That would be squeezing a very large story into a very small format.
You have the beginning of a romance, some mysterious goings on both in the workplace and with leading man Rex, great sex scenes, and several bouts of emotional waffling, on the part of our ever emotional leading lady.
All of this, while admittedly making for very juicy dramatic fixings in a standard length novel. Or, even as part of an expanded novella serial. Read as overdone to the point of a kitchen incident within its current context.
In short, Meat may deliver the tenderest Kobe beef in the sex department. Its sadly chopped liver everywhere else.

So this is a bit of a tough one to review. I'll start by saying that I am a fan of Opal Carew. I have read and enjoyed most of her work. It is always hot and an entertaining (if often one-handed) read. Now I'll be honest, with a story entitled 'Meat' I wasn't expecting a work of epic literary proportions. I expected it to have a certain tongue and cheek quality, which it definitely did (if you didn't figure it out from the title/blurb, meat refers to how well endowed the main character is), but to be honest, there were some scenes that were really over the top (and I enjoy a good over the top smutty read) and they took away some from the hotness (though maybe that was what Carew was going for? A super over the top, so funny at times you'll laugh more than be turned on sexy short read?). I will say that I really enjoyed the premise, two hot and sexy people happen upon each other at the airport and thanks to a flight delay have a really sexy and hot on off, expecting never to meet again. Then that sexy man you just had loads of fun with turns out to be the new chef at the restaurant you manage. Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire, right? Rex did have his sexy moments, though I never quite bought into him being an actual Dom, though he played the part decently. Some scenes were still steamy, but I found myself wincing when I thought about how paining his 'meat' probably was thanks to the detailed descriptions of how substantial it was. This was a 3.5 star read I'm rounding up because it definitely amused me and as I said, I'm pretty sure Carew was going for extremes here.

Now please forgive me if I have got completely the wrong impression of this book. With a mind like a sewer, when I saw the books title, I knew I just had to read it. And from before I even began to read this book I was laughing out loud.
And then it began, giving me probably the best line ever...........“My God, that thing belongs on a horse.”.......Let's just say I'm pretty sure it wasn't referring to a saddle.
If I was meant to take this book as a serious piece of romance literature, then I'm afraid I completely missed the boat with that one, but as a light hearted, hilarious read, I have to say this book just worked for me.
My own immature sense of humour was sniggering at the innuendos and whether they were intentional or not, they still had me sniggering like a school girl in a sex education class.
We have characters which aren't necessarily unique and perhaps a little 2 dimensional for me. The storyline was a little predictable, the sex scenes weren't what I would describe as hot, because half the time, the size issue had me imagining, what I can only describe as, giving birth in reverse. But the fact that it was relatively short and gave me so much amusement, I have to say I found it completely refreshing. And if you often find your mind's in the gutter like mine, then I totally recommend this book.

I'm thinking Rebbecca isn't sure how to react to Rex's assets, "She sucked in a breath at the sheer size of him. “My God, that thing belongs on a horse.” She’d had no idea a man could be that big. " I liked this book, it was short and Rex was sexy.
