Rock star Beau Hunt is an icon. A walking sex symbol adored by women all over the world for his gorgeous body and rough, sensual voice. But secretly, he’s also a leader of lion shifters, a prince of his people, and his decisions in life affect the entire world. He has always known that his mate would be chosen for him, and he’d have to accept in order for his family to stay in power and protect those closest to him. But Stacy knows more about him than most. They come from the same island, and his royal family is responsible for a tragedy in her past. So despite his husky voice striking straight to her core, she wants nothing to do with him. Until he makes her an offer she can’t refuse: one million dollars to her favorite charity if she gives him seven days to win her over. What could happen in seven days?

But as Beau turns out to be kinder, sexier and funnier than she’d ever imagined, Stacy is finding it hard to stick to her resolve.  Now she doesn’t know how to choose between a past that haunts her, and a future that might just be better than anything she could imagine. And Beau isn’t the only man desperate to make her his…

Nothing you've never read before

This story was like many others. I think the only difference would've been that the female lead is curvy. Be prepared to read that word over and over again. Along with "luscious body" and other such descriptions of curviness. I did not like Stacey. At all. She was so wishy, washy. Beau was a sweetheart but so soft. I don't see how he'd be considered an alpha male. I won't continue the series. I found the writing to be stilted and oh so mushy. Too too sweet for me.

A great first book to a new and exciting series!!! Beau is a lion prince and a rock star, his older brother is the heir and rules their island of lion shifters while Beau tours on the mainland bringing in money from his stardom. Beau gets called home because the oracles have chosen him out of his brothers to mate next. The oracles revel the true mates of the royal family to them one at a time and they must convince that person to mate with them in order for their family to remain in power. Stacy does not care one bit for the royal family, the only reason she is going to Beau Hunt's concert is because she got mysteriously delivered VIP tickets in her name and she hopes to convince him to participate in the bachelors auction and donate to the charity that she works for. They agree to a deal, Beau will donate one million dollars and participate in the bachelors auction for her charity if she agrees to move in with him and give him a week to convince her to mate with him. Long buried memories, secrets and burgeoning emotions take center stage as they try to find their footing against feelings that are deeper and stronger then either of them anticipated. This story was pretty fast paced, I was a little confused as to where Hercules fit in but my question was answered near the end. I'm excited to be able to read the next one!!

The Lion's Reluctant Mate

One sexy lion will meet his match in this yummy shifter romance. Beau Hunt is a lion shifter, rock star, and prince, but all he wants is his matched mate to accept him. Charity Organizer, Stacy, blames Beau's family for something bad that happened to her family years ago, and when she finds out she is matched to him, she adamantly refuses the mating. But he has something that she needs, money, money to help kids with cancer. When he makes an offer too good to be true, will she be able to stand up to his charm and sweetness, or fall in love with the King of Rock? I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3 Stars.

I struggled with Stacy Anderson and Beau Hunt's romance. The boundaries set for the primary characters seemed to contradict itself. Towards the end I found the depth needed to form a solid bond between the two but it was a little late for me.

The world building is ok. It still needs work, especially with the whole Oracle, Dragon Shifters and political agendas that are playing in the background. But maybe there's a series that I need to read as an intro.

Despite my misgivings I will go onto book #2 Prince of Fate. Hopefully I'll find my dark and dangerous fix with the youngest in the Hunt royal line.

I liked the story of Beau Hunt, lion Prince and rich star. He has always known that the Oracle would choose his mate and he is ok with that. Especially when he finds out that Stacy Anderson is to be his mate. He thinks it is a slam dunk, but he didn't figures in Stacy's hostility towards lion royalty in general and his family in particular. He and Stacy have a history, though it was long ago and very brief. He is pretty sure she doesn't know know out was him that rescued her that night long ago, and he is not about to bring up the event for more than one reason. If she wants to know the family secrets she will have to agree to the mating.

Stacy does not know why she suddenly got tickets to a Beau Hunt concert. She likes his music, but she has no desire to meet him. She knows who he is to the people of Pride Island and she does not have good memories of that place or his family. She agrees to attend the concert in the hopes of convincing him to be a part of a charity auction. That is where she gets the news that the Oracle has chosen her to be his mate. Oh heck no. But then he blackmails her into spending a week with him if she wants him to be in the auction, plus he'll give her a million dollars for her favorite charity. She can't pass up the offer, unfortunately her lioness wants more from Beau then money and she finds herself falling for him. But can she just forget the past and what his family did to her?

Rock it Hard

Beau Hunt, Prince of the Pride Island Kingdom of Lion Shifters, is also a Rock n Roll Star. He uses his fame and notoriety to help keep humans and shifters safe. As part of his responsibilities to his family and kingdom he must win the mate chosen by their infamous Oracle. Now Beau is on a mission to prove to his chosen that he is her fated mate. Stacy Anderson's job is to convince celebrities to help with fundraising for charities. When Beau sends Stacy backstage passes for his concert, she knows her past is catching up with her. Her boss believes it's a miracle sent from heaven to help with their latest fundraiser. This alternate world is well developed, the details of the integration between the humans and shifter world is a compelling portrayal of a unique culture filled with layers of hierarchy, politics & power. But at the core of this novella is Beau & Stacy's love story. Haunted by memories of a tragic past, Stacy must come to grips with Beau's part in her history. This is an exciting & fun story of a studly rock star (who can turn into a giant golden lion) willing to grovel a bit to win his love, who is a sassy, sometimes insecure, woman who also learns how important truth & trust are to love Great new world & alternate reality.

Lions, oh my!

I liked this story, but not quite as much as I did Rent-a-Dragon stories and Date-a-Dragon stories. What I really liked was the glimpse at the man behind the rock star. Beau is a very cool character. Stacy is good, too, but seems so very indecisive. I guess I just wanted her to see what I saw and forget about her past, which is not very reasonable of me.

The lion storyline was new to me. I have only heard it mentioned in other stories. It was nice to get more detail about that. I can't wait to see what happens to Cain and Ace in their stories. I bet they will be different. This is available as as Kindle bundle, but I didn't notice into after I got this book. I also enjoyed seeing their half brother from a different series for a moment, and hope to see more interaction there. Try the Bear Claw Security bundle to meet him. You should like this if you like shifter stories with some action, some steamy scenes and a lot of character development. Enjoy!

Enjoyable but I do wish people would just talk to each other.
This was a good read and I liked the story and all the background we are given. I loved that Stacey did not fall to her knees for Beau, but I just think she should have told him her concerns from the start, not led him on by agreeing to spend a week with him.
Beau was a bit of a big head due to being a rock star and getting his way all the time at first but by the end I liked him and felt sorry that he had to live such a false lifestyle with no one really knowing him, not even his brothers.
Stacey was interesting in that she acted as if she didn’t want Beau at first. Then she just acted mean and closed off. She judged past actions and events without asking or knowing the full details. I just couldn’t get past her oh woe is me my parents died. I wanted to slap her. Beau and his brothers lost just as much that night too.
Do want to read Cain’s story so I will be reading any other books in this series.

It must be tough to have the fate of your civilization rest on your shoulders even if the same is also true for your three brothers.

The question must be asked why is the youngest brother told about his fated mate before his eldest? That bothered me all the way through the story. I also find stories about rock musicians pretty boring as they all share the same elements of giddy female fans, rock music (I prefer classical and jazz) and wealth.

Of course, our hero shifts into a lion and apparently, he is quite talented and loves his music. As eager as he is to seal the deal with his fated mate, and as delighted as he is with the choice made for him, all is not smooth sailing as there is history on her side of which he is unaware. A refreshing change in fated mate stories. He has to work at it.

Beau was a rock star living it up, our so the press was supposed to think

Stacy had witnessed a horror when she was just 12, her parents died in a crazy fierce fire. She grew up on an island of lion shifters. She left as soon as she could. It seems that fate and destiny had changes in mind. Beau had met with the Oracle and determined who his mate should be. He knew exactly who it was, he met her when they were young. Would she remember him from then? Time to find out. Beau thought it should be easy to convince her to mate with him. There first meeting was nothing near perfect.

This was a good beginning to a new series. I liked that it was fast paced, sweet, and had a little bit of action. I really liked Beau, but wasn't liking Stacy. She ended up just getting on my nerves. Anyway, I'll continue the series, because now I want to see what happens with the brothers.

King of Rock

Beau is a rockstar with a huge following. Stacy works for a non-profit. The oracle has mated them. They are each hiding a part of their past. It will not be easy for them to get beyond it. Loved this book

King of Rock

This book was not what I expected. ( in a good way), I loved how it was more about the couple and not about him being rich and a sex symbol. It's more on their past and what might be in the future.. So it makes for a great story.

2 1/2 stars. I didn't enjoy this story as well as some of the bear heaven and dragon books by the author. The story lagged and felt forced. Not sure if I'll read the brother's Cain and Ace's stories.

That's crazy

I thought that something bad happened when they were kids and that somehow she blamed the whole royal family but its jacked up that she didn't remember until she shot her mouth off. However, the ending was cute. I can't wait to read Cain's story.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

The start of a new series by Terry Bolryder is always cause to celebrate. Since the story blurb gives you a very good idea of what this story has to offer, I’m going to dive right in to my reactions to Beau and Stacy’s romance.

An Oracle does the picking of mates for the royal lion shifter family in power on Pride Island – and the mate she has picked out for Beau is no stranger to him. Of course, he hasn’t seen her since that night of the windless summer when they were kids and she was in trouble. But it made sense, he had already protected her and surely she would remember his heroic act and fall right into his arms. Yeah, right.

Stacy has no desire whatsoever to meet up with the rock star Beau Hunt. She knew him or at least his family from another part of her life… he was a royal prince of her people, lion shifters – and his family was responsible for the deaths of her parents. Yet, it was impossible to overlook his dare of spending a week with him so he could convince her that he was a good guy and excellent mate for the million dollars that would go to her favorite charity no matter what her decision. She could put up with an egotistical rock star for seven days, and then go on her merry way no emotions involved, her heart still secure, her rage at the royals intact.

I liked Beau a lot. He’s a charming man, secure in himself, doesn’t take this rock star stuff too seriously as he simply loves the music and knows that his being out in the public benefits his family and their island nation. He remembers his mate, granted they were both younger then but he’s content with the Oracle’s choice for him. He doesn’t understand Stacy’s animosity towards him, the rage just below the surface. That she is attracted to him and is fighting that is very obvious but there are things he cannot tell her until she is part of the royal family – and there are things she refuses to tell him that might give him some clue as to how to win her heart.

Stacy – I had (and still have) such a difficult time liking her. Her preconceived notions, her refusal to listen to what Beau is trying to explain to her, her downright refusal to trust him, yet expecting trust to come naturally on his side of things. She became to me that barely tolerated spouse of a good friend – if you want the friend in your life, you put up with who they chose to love. So for Beau’s sake, I was happy that he got the happy ever after that he deserved. Granted not everyone is going to feel that way about the girl, I simply could not like her enough to care one way or the other.

On a side note here, it was really fun to see Hercules and Hera make a cameo appearance in King of Rock -Herc is half-brother to Beau, Axel (Ace) and Cain. Hercules and Hera’s story is Bear-ly Human (Bear Claw Security #4) – I love it when characters cross series, it’s always a treat to see them again for me.

Love Shifter Romance? Then Terry Bolryder is an author you should be reading. This is a story that I would recommend and I’m looking forward to Ace’s and Cain’s stories to come.

Did a little happy dance when I saw a new Terry Bolryder book--an encore when I realized it was a new series. And a good one it is. Lion shifters! Royalty, how perfect, and a rock star--even better. Yep, everyone seems to be in love with Beau except the woman he loves instantly and is his chosen one as a prince of the rulers. Stacy doesn't have fond memories of Lion Island, or the ruling class. Now she's supposed to mate with one. I don't think so. However, her life is working to fund worthy charities. How can she turn down a huge contribution and promise for more to come without meeting his requirement--spend a week with him and give him a chance to show her he isn't so bad.

Stacy didn't want to like him. But the guy isn't just his stage image. He is a real person and a nice guy--besides steamy hot! There are a lot of emotions, casual times, stress, sexual tension and even some threats--it's a busy week. Now, with all of that going on will Beau win her over? Will she see underneath the stage persona to the man/lion beneath it all? And that pesky history that she only slightly remembers, how will they both deal?

Enjoy the story, meeting the family and wondering who's story is next. Once again although this is a series, each book tells the tale of a couple and can stand alone. I will impatiently (being honest here) wait for the next couple, Terry isn't telling who it is. This is a strong recommend. Fans of the author will recognize her story telling skills, and those new to her books will fall in love with her work as I did.

2.5 stars. I liked this book for the majority of the book but simple things stopped me from fully enjoying it. I got peeved that somehow the shifters in this book can speak to each other with human English (to other lion forms or ones in human form so it must be English right?). Really speaking, and it happened more than once so it wasn't some mess up and it just left me sitting there like, really? Talking?

Anyway, other things were the dragons and most of all magical scarves that won't come undone if you tie someone. It annoyed me because while it was a PNR, the emergence of these showed there must be witches or magic casters and there was no other evidence of that besides this, or maybe the oracle was a witch and I'm just going loopy, I don't know.

And lastly, the ending just got super mushy and didn't feel authentic at all. It seemed to all fall together a little too easily for me, and personally, I didn't think the overall plot was any different to others I've read. The ideas and lore changed/created in this story was interesting but I just felt all the conflict was in their past and it was all drama involving their own minds rather than outside sources.

I will admit I'm interested in Cain, not so much Axel, but If Cain gets someone who is reckless like him or scared of that kinda thing, I can just see it working really well in Alpha protectiveness.

Absoulty loved the king of rock. It was amazing it was different it was just mind blowing awsome. I love Terry Bolryders writting style and how each shifter book links together but at the same time they are all unquie and different.

Following the lion shifters they are very different and do with more politics then any other shifter species. Not only that but their is a darker side to them and those who rule. Meeting Beau a princes of lions. He is different then other shifters. He hates the violence but will use it if it necessary, living his life as a rock star he hasnt felt the loneliness of his life until Stacy. With no one knowing his true side and what his really like he must try and win Stacy over.

Stacy is a lioness who hates the royal family and hates her home land. With a past that destroyed her family and left a hole in her heart. Stacy is kind and caring and does what she can for charities that need support. But when asked to get Beau for the male auction or loss her job. Stacy is out into 2 minds as she hates his family and what he represents but she likes the man underneath.

This story was amazing and cant wait to read more about the princes story and their mates. Loved it
