The book was gifted to me and I read it out of courtesy... it’s not what I enjoy reading... it’s a very basic book and targeted at new managers... there is very little in it for someone who has lived thru the corporate world for decades...
It leaves you with the message to be proactive, reminds you that you cannot control emotions and should simply focus on creating a positive work experience and highlights the importance of delegation, building teams, recognising and retaining talent, managing crisis and handling conflicts... it suggests that these are all challenging tasks and even more so for new managers who have still to learn the ropes...
The book is readable, easy to follow and suggests simple steps... but the reality is that the biggest challenge is to translate what you know you need to do into actions and that that sounds straightforward is often not easy to realise - that is why good managers are always hard to find...
