Many of us have lives that are full. We have full bellies, full closets, full calendars, full trash cans, full purses and full email inboxes. But at the end of the day, we are empty. God made us all with a built in desire to find the meaning to life and to spend time on things that are meaningful.
This in-depth Bible Study will take you verse by verse and chapter by chapter through the book of Ecclesiastes. We all long to live well and Ecclesiastes provides the wisdom we need to do just that! Join us on this journey as we identify the obstacles that stand in our way and draw near to God, through daily study of His Word. You can find more resources including a free video series to correlate with this study over at WomenLivingWell.org.
I appreciated the short daily lessons in this study with the discussion questions to make me think about how the verses applied to my own life. I did this study with a friend and we both gained a deeper understanding of the book of Ecclesiastes.
We used this for a group bible study. We enjoyed the departure from our previous tendency to choose Christian books instead of true bible studies. We liked that this got us actually diving into a specific book of the bible. And I can't speak for everyone else, but I had a much better understanding of Ecclesiastes as a whole after completing the 6 week study. It sparked great conversation and there were many positive take-aways.
The study itself showed room for improvement. 90% of the questions were surface level and were answered by the author in the sentence directly following the question. The study failed to pull everything together in the end quite like I thought it should. There were three "wrapping it up" type questions, but I thought perhaps a whole week should have been spent on the POINT of the book and how we should alter our lives based on the advice therein. At times the study felt very disjointed, like it was hopping from point to point instead of flowing from one idea to the next, connecting the two.
I'm glad we did the study, but I can't say I'd recommend it.
I bought this Bible study on a whim. I was looking for something that had depth, was easy to follow (I'm a stay at home mom to an inquisitive toddler), and would help me grow spiritually. I learned a lot of things from reading this that didn't know, like phrases that don't translate easily today. It was a good personal study.
My only issue is that the author uses SOAK which is similar to SOAP. Which stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. In my experience, SOAP tends to be very rigid and I don't learn much since I'm trying to complete the acronym instead of delving into my Bible. It isn't encouraged in this book as much as the color coding highlighting is. I just read it at my own pace, took notes, and highlighted as I needed to.
I do plan on trying more of her books. I just don't plan on jotting down SOAK or highlighting every verse a different color.
Loved learning and studying through this devotion! The length is perfect for a busy mom like me, but with deep enough points and lessons to help me dig deeper in my Christian walk!
