Firstly, the photography and accompanying quotes are enough to make this a great addition to the coffee table. What is really special about this book, though, is the fact that it recognizes Algonquin as a place not only of preservation and recreation, but of work, a detail that is missing from most park histories, both popular and academic. The sections that focus on interviews with people that have lived and worked around and in the park are priceless and will be helpful for me in my dissertation.
