Bella has always dreamed of getting her very own dog, and her wish finally comes true when she and her family visit the rescue shelter to choose a pet. One of the puppies, Jack, has wild, frizzy ears and a huge, fluffy tail, and he has always dreamed of the perfect home. Both are thrilled when Bella chooses Jack. The puppy loves living with Bella, and she adores playing with him. But then Bella's friends start saying mean things about Jack. Can Bella prove to everyone that there's more to her scruffy puppy than meets the eye?

the puppy was so scruffy, i really wanted to see if jack won all the first place prizes but at least he got two first place prizes. Jack was a really cute puppy how could nobody what such a cute puppy?
My daughter enjoyed this book. She is an animal lover. She loves any stories including animals. However, it wasn’t very well written. The plot was lacking. It was easy and quick to read only because it was so short. There were several small details that didn’t fit or make sense. A good book for younger readers who have previously enjoyed books by this author.
I really liked it when the scruffy puppy won 2 awards in the show. 2 medals! It is a happy book and I really liked it when he jumped up to try and eat the treat and he walked on his hind legs in a circle to try and get it
Girls being social bullies? Check. A dog that isn't traditionally "cute"? Check. Childhood friends breaking up due to jealousy and then becoming friends again? Check.
Sweet story for middle grade elementary readers about a family adopting a dog from a shelter. There are also important elements about friendship in this story and lessons to be learned. Girls, especially, will enjoy this book.
A very charming book. A sweet story, featuring little drama, which is something that can be appreciated in this context. And, really, a book that I enjoy reading over and over again.
