Take a fantastical, far-out journey in the out-of-this-world adventures of Jing and his feisty, feathered friend Kir--Twilight Tales is an awesome new series with a fresh, original look for our heroes! When Jing sets his sights on a valuable jewel in the coffin of a notorious mafia boss, is he really playing with fire? Will Jing get away with it all, or does la cosa nostra's reach extend beyond the grave?
It's a sequel series for the 1990s Jing: King of Bandits series. Now the protagonist Jin is a teenager traveling with his companion: a talking bird. Together they go from one city to the next to look for rare treasures to steal.
It's an enjoyable series with coolly designed characters and pretty artwork. 3.9 stars.
I’m stunned at how few people have read this - 76, in all of Goodreads?? This should be required reading for even casual Manga fans - the story is pretty slight, but there are a lot of loose manga out there. The scripting does contain fantastically weird and wild concepts which I appreciate. But what this thing has is phenomenal style, setting and hyper detailed, moody world building and an artistic aesthetic that melds manga with the work of Tony Harris and Chris Bachalo (western comic artists.) Can’t wait to find more of this!
Basically the same problem as the last book, I didn't really get it. But that could, again, just be my lack of knowledge regarding the first series. Sadly, this is the last one in my library, so I won't be able to read the rest until I get to a book store.
