Story 1 (ch01-02) Read this while praying for the fate of two people, a BL that will save your soul. "You will be my other half." Having infiltrated a religious organization to save Lief, who adores the cult leader, Catholic priest Ross is instead captured and held captive. "If you become my other half, we can both be saved," Lief believes blindly. Giving Ross a drug which dulls his senses, Lief then rapes him. Believing in the precepts of his faith, Lief pities Ross and convinces him to resign himself to accept this relationship, but... A dramatic story about a young cult follower x a Virgin Mary type Catholic priest.
Story 2 (ch03-04) Collected together with the following magnificent stories: A discarded houseplant that becomes human... Do I recognize that face? And a mysterious couple.
Aaah Nemui Asada sets her romances with such interesting premises! This volume consists of two stories, the first one about a priest who tries to save a teen who has been a victim of brainwashing through cults his whole life and desesperately looks for a god to worpship to feel complete.
The second story is less psychological and more fantasy about a guy who takes home a plant that was left outside a closed flower shop. Suddenly the plant starts talking to him, surprised yet curious he takes care of it and they bond and eventually he develops a emotional attachment, thus one day he wishes it was a person and...it becomes reality! This one was very cute and i'm super biased cause i'm crazy about plants so this story was such a delight to me haha.
Both stories have a theme about God. One darker than the other. I like how Nemui plays with the theme and develops the characters in a compelling way.
Really an interesting artist. I like both stories but once again there is something lacking. I can't quite put my finger on it. A year or so Ms. Nemui will really nail it.
there are two stories and the first one is my favorite. to see something about religious psychosis and long-term effects of cult brainwashing into a person... to see the victim on a cult being saved and him seeing his savior (almost) as a god. it was pretty interesting and the character designs are pretty simple but they look beautiful.
honestly didn't really like the first story but the second one abt the talking flower omygod it fucking SLAPPED I read this for the first time when I was like. 14 and I still think abt it sometimes. such a good concept.
part of me want to give it 5 stars because wooooh priest sex !!!! *cheers* but the other part is kicking me in the shins screaming "are you stupid, it was not that good !!!!"
I liked the first story just fine. I really enjoy this kind of stories about taming a kicked dog-like person, i like the trope of someone becoming your god after they saved you... - and priest sex of course, and priests battling with their sexual desires against someone who's very much pushing them to not battle them -so everything about the plot was a hit with me. One thing i found good with the story is that it didn't need more than 3 chapters to actually finish its story in a way that makes sense and feels complete. Often, with yaoi one-shots, i end up thinking that it could've benefited from 2 or 3 more chapters, if not an entire second volume to develop its story and wrap everything up nicely. But here, everything is developped enough (probably because the author didn't write a complicated story or characters with a big backstory that would need much more explanations to not make us readers feel like we're missing parts), and, while it closes on a open ending, it didn't make me think something like "okay. what's after ?" But even though, let's be honest, it doesn't actually feel like much. The characters were well-written but not really interesting and i'll probably quickly forget about them ; the story was simple and developped enough, but it wasn't much more than that, simple ; the art was a little rough at times, and ended up not being really clear and, while it's not an issue for me and can sometimes be something that draws me in to one-shot yaois, some pages ended up not being really readable. And i'm sorry but i really can't get over how Lief's God looks so much like the evil mask in Zelda Majora's Mask, and Lief's arm tattoo immediatly made me think "is that fucking Bill Cipher ?" (NO upon closer inspection but i'm sorry i had this thought a few times), but maybe it's just me idk
The second story didn't really work with me. While the plot and resolution were pretty easy to understand, i still came out of it feeling like i didn't understand everything, and that it wasn't even good. maybe this one could've used one more chapter. or maybe i just didn't enjoy it, it happens.
