Georgina Carlton is on the fast track road to success. She doesn't have time for distractions like relationships, family and love, because she's seen firsthand how they can complicate things. Unfortunately Max Hayes didn't get that memo. One look at the petite dynamo and he decides she's a complication worth having and keeping. So he erases the boundary lines when she's not looking and before Georgina knows it, she's falling in love with the gorgeous farmer and a town she thought she hated. Can she take a chance on him or will her dream and complicated past get in the way?
This is the first book in the Baymoor Series about the Carlton siblings who find love in the most unexpected places.
D. A. Young is a best-selling author and lover of multilayered adventures. Food, traveling, and music are her passions. You can often find all three in the contemporary escapades she creates.
This felt a Xtian writer decided to try her hand at erotica.
What didn't work for me: * too much emphasis on family values. It was corny, saccharine, and annoying. * too much sex. Cliche sex, vanilla sex, repetitive sex, allegorical orgasms filled with explosions and cliffs and what-not. * Xtian shit. "Saying grace" before each meal and all that. No. * the amateur writing. The mechanics: grammar, word choices, etc. * the amateur writing. The creative elements: an abundance of very poorly executed flashbacks, head-hopping to the extreme even within sentences, paragraphs and pages. It was hard to keep track of randomly being posited in every character's head. * the issues. They're depressing. And cliche. Woman with baggage finds perfect man and has to get out of her own way. The problems are really harped on in a tiresome way. * the perfection (everyone besides Georgina is perfect). Sigh...some reality would be nice. * everything.
Max & Georgie, a strong, handsome, sexy, compassionate alpha male and a beautiful, capable, intelligent, sexy woman. Neither were looking for love but love found them. This book was full of angst, acceptance, disappointment of what was lost, forgiveness, romance and sensual hot passion. The connection between Max & Georgie jumped off the pages. Determination and patience paid off giving both their HEA. You will definitely enjoy this book!
I throughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read about the other siblings. Ole Farmer Jay turned out to be the best thing for Georgi/ Gina as she was to Max. Shoot I think I’ve fallen in love with Max the farmer myself this was a good love story and mild drama it was bit heavy in the beginning but not enough to stop reading and there was laughter as well Mr. Raymond was a hoot along with that old lady gang go ahead and read it you won’t be disappointed.
This was the first DA Young book I've read, and it won't be the last. She's in my favourite list now..... I can't wait to read about the other siblings, too. Georgina"s story was emotional, sexual, romantic, and even funny at times, too. On KU and audible plus catalogue too.
I like this book but I have to say that this is not my favorite by D.A Young.
Even though I read the Baymoor series slightly backwards, reading book 2 before this one, I was still able to get the gist of everything. The information and the extra details of the Carlton's siblings life style while they were kids. Was very detail and it help me picture a more vivid view of the neglect there mother was too them.
I felt so much sadness and anger towards Ingrid and all she's done to her kids. I'm actually glad that I've read the 2nd book before the first one. The second book makes you think that there was never any good in her to begin with. But this first book shows you that she actually tried to be a mother, and get better and was looking for away out of the situation. It makes me wonder if I would've read the books in order if I would've had a different feeling towards her, rather than the one that I'm still currently feeling which is disappointment and disgust.
I guess i just cannot forgive how she could treat her children like that. And at the very least allow all those horrible things to happen to her children. NOT because she couldn't stop it from happening, and there wasn't a lack of trying on her part. BUT because she did not try at all after a little bit. Maybe this is me being harsh, but when it comes to children, and your own at that I personally wouldn't have given up, And would not have put any man, or woman before my own children. ( And I don't even have children, but that's the way I was raise.)
I know I said in the beginning that this book was not my most favorite of her collection, and I meant that. This book didn't give me the Shazam that book 2 gave me, Or what her other books have given me. It gave me little bits of excitement here and there, but not really.
BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT I DID NOT ENJOY THE BOOK.
I love the fact that Georgina is her own person, and that she and Max are in it for the long haul. I love the fact that Max has so much patient while dealing with her. And lets her know that under no circumstances is she to run away from him. Argue, fight, be mad, but NEVER run away, he will be here at the end of the day, always in her corner. And when she did make the attempt to leave, he show her the errors of her ways, in a sexy dominate way, that makes her heart race with excitement. Whooo Max, way to make a girl mouth water. I love these scenes since Max is such a nice person, with soooo much patient about him. He's strong, sexy, smart, and mouth watering, with a fierce sense of loyalty to those that he considers his.
I mean come on lady what else can you want in a man, he's a whole package in one. Geez this town is hording these type of men, makes you want to go out and seek a town and see what they're hiding.
There is one thing that i'm happy about for their mother, that when her parents found out that she was pregnant with her oldest daughter. They wanted her to get rid of it, but she was determine to have her baby. Then they told her that she can have it but they wanted her to give the baby away for adoption. Which cause her to run away with their father, and once they all came around she still stayed with the father and his parents, much to their dismay.
I do applaud her for making her own decisions and wanting to have her baby. I feel that if the parent was more understanding to begin with and wasn't trying to force her to give her baby for adoption. That this could've all have turn out different, but then again maybe not since she was determine to be with him. EVEN THOUGH ALL THE SIGNS WAS SHOWING THAT HE WAS A GOOD FOR NOTHING.
That is the only thing that I can say that I like about the Carlton mother, that she was a true mother in the beginning but turn into a monster. And some people might pity her and say look what she been through. But not me, that doesn't excuse all that they been through.
Now going back to our two main characters of this book. I love the fact that Georgina is a hard working woman, who is forming her own business. She also don't play when people try to run up on her or try to tell her what to do. Or ( in a funnier situation in the book ) threaten to harm her. Lol this scene was one of my favorite, these old people don't play. lol. She put them in there place while letting them know that they can be civil or they could get shot at with her gun. Especially when they threaten her with bodily harm. lol She was not shaken, and instead not only did she manage to make Max laugh, but also shaken the very same elderly people that threaten her life. lol
I also love the fact that even though she was done wrong and was put through a lot as a kid, she try and keep ties with her mom. She wanted to give her a second chance, and make a bond with her. And to that I have to say to each and her own, I'm not sure that was a good decision. But maybe she just wanted to give her a chance. For better or for worse she is their mother, and Georgina is the baby of the family.
Overall I like this book, but still not my favorite. I love the fact that their was other characters from other series that I read in the book. It was good to see that this book is someone in cahoots with the other series. This is a unique way of writing a book/ series and I really love that about D.A. Young.
I cannot wait to read Book 3 of this series, featuring Graham and his own woman.
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed Georgina and Maxwell journey to love so much! This book was so emotional! So happy that Georgina and Maxwell found love! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between them! This was my first time reading a book by D.A. Young and it won't be my last! Fantastic book!
I really enjoyed this book! The chemistry between Max and Georgina was so hot! When I started reading I couldn't put this book down! Every time I read D. A. Young's books I have a connection. Definitely a 1 click Author for me.
Max and Georgie were my introduction to DA Young. I loved it. I was pulled in by the multiple levels within the story. There was more going on than just the couple at hand. I loved having another direction to move toward and look forward to.
What I liked about this story was that it addressed domestic violence and how it not only traumatizes people @ the time it's happening but the lasting effects. This story brings awareness to a very important issue, lucky for Georgina, she lucked out with a great man who could & did help her to work through her issues. In reality, some people never find that. What I didn't like was, way to many grammatical errors and more so; words left out or in wrong place making sentence flow really jacked up. I also think that there are way too many graphic sexual encounters. I appreciate good steamy sex in my stories but not at every turn. I recommend this book & series to people who like to know what happens after the HEA. And what happens to other people in their story.
I liked Max and Georgina. They had great chemistry. Max was such a patient yet assertive hero. He was protective and so endearing yet still very masculine. Georgina was used to being strong and doing it all herself. She’d overcome some pretty serious trauma and life. That has a way of making a person a bit jaded and guarded in relationships. So, I understood her. I love their relationship and how we get to see the evolution of it. Max and Georgina grow from a one night stand to friends with benefits to eventually share a deep love for one another. There is some tension and background story arcs happening. But, they all progress the character development of the hero and heroine.
This book is hotttt. There is quite a bit of sex and the scenes are so rewarding. I loved every bit of it. That farmer boy could worrrrrk it. Fun times!
I really don't write many reviews but there were so many different views on this particular book....I have read all of D. A. Young books and have truly enjoyed the Men of Whiskey Row series, then I read The Ties That Bind 1 & 2 and enjoyed those too....So I guess I was a little surprised when I read this one and didn't feel the same way.....I really enjoyed getting to know Max and Georgie and the small town setting......But there was so much going on..... 2.5 rating but will give the other two books in this series a try....
With a past that wants to be payed to rest and kept in the past. A small town girl turned city girl being faced with her past going back home. And carefree moment of a one night stand. Georgina and Max could not have been different in the ways they viewed life when the 1st meet. Be it or not they were drawn to one another and after the soft hurt they were everything.
I loved the family’s connect and they was they were re-acquainted. With a small town and the drama made this a good read and as it started to uncover the dark side of a small town. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
I like this book but I have to say that this is not my favorite by D.A Young.

My first read from D.A Young and I am now a fan. Storytelling at its best. Farmer Max has me wAnting to run to the nearest farm and find him. The horse riding scene was enticing and erotic at best makes me want to get on a horse like right now. Overall this was a very captivating love story with some drama and I am so glad Georgina found her happiness with Max. Looking forward to book 2 in the series.
I enjoyed this book. Max basically showed Georgina its ok to love. She had a rough time as a kid and that played out throughout her teens and adulthood. Her mother was horrible. I wonder how things will workout for her as the series continues. The description of Max in this book was 🤪🥵🥵 lol. Total BDE! All farmers need to look like that! 😂. My only gripe is the narrator need to work on her male voice. It was hard to distinguish who was saying what to whom.
I truly enjoyed their story. It felt like a classic met the present with the writing structure of this book. Both MMC and FMC were strong and well established independently. Together, they were passion personified. Their chemistry was felt throughout the entire story. There was laughter and chuckles, tears of sadness and tears of joy, passion and spice. I love this book so much.
This was my first time reading a book by this author but I was not disappointed. Loved the sexy scenes!!! and Georgina's and Max's character. It wasn't just the chemistry that I enjoyed but also the way Young wrote about Georgina and her siblings childhood experience and how it played a role in her adult experience. I would have given it 5 stars except, there are some minor editing needed.
I love this author's writing style, her books have you laughing out loud, on the edge of your seat, mind trying to figure out the next twist, oh my an all round great read. If you haven't already read any of her work what are you waiting for I guarantee you will be as hooked as we are.
Georgina had gone through enough in life. Even I felt she deserved her happiness but I would have never thought her mother would be that mean to her. Max was all she needed even though she didn't know it at the time. Bringing down her walls was her healing and the opening Max needed for her to allow love to enter.
This was a really well written novel with an interesting story. I enjoyed getting to know the belle, Georgina, and the farmer, Maxwell. Their chemistry was instant. Even with the drama mixed in, their love was fun and enthralling. This is a book I recommend without hesitation. I'm looking forward to read the other stories in this series.
This is a new author for me and I am soooo glad I found her. There are A LOT of characters in this book. It was a challenge to keep track of everyone. I found myself rereading sections in order to remind myself. It also started slowly but took off Like a rocket at the end. I really enjoyed this read and look forward to the other Carlton siblings stories.
Sometimes all you need is vibes & a good laugh at how ridiculous a story can get you know? Anyways, major CWs for child abuse & neglect; parental drug use; abusive parent; negative views of sex work; abusive relationships; mention of attempted assault; domestic violence; creepy men show up all around…uh dassit I think…🤔
With each one of the tiles I read the storylines and characters keep getting better and better and I love the cross references from other titles and series previously written! On to the next adventure knowing I’m going to enjoy it! Keep them coming D. A. Young I’m here for it!😉
I loved this book and the characters were very entertaining. I loved the chemistry between Max and Gorgina it was smoking hot 🔥 and intense! The story took you on a journey that was awesome. I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed.
Terrible title! Lol! This book was OK for me. It did keep my attention throughout, but I wasn’t overly excited about it. I will read the next one just to see what happens in the series. It would be nice if there were two narrators, even though Mari is one of my favorites. I think it will make a big difference for the book. Not overly erotic at all.
