He came looking for a ghost. Instead, he found a girl. Tucker Boone is a war-hardened Marine on a ghost hunt. Fresh out of the corps, Tucker learns he has a missing half-sister, Maddy. The only clue to her whereabouts is a cryptic note…I’ve gone Mad, Mags. Tucker agrees to search for her and heads to Ocracoke, North Carolina where a ghost named Mad Mags is said to haunt the ancient graveyards dotting the island. The note doesn’t bring him any closer to finding Maddy, but it does offer him a diversion to the doldrums of civilian life— his new island neighbor, Josie McCoy. Tucker is drawn to her quiet spirit. There’s something special about Josie…a connection he can’t quite explain. By summer’s end, he’s mixed up in deception, murder, and the love of a lifetime. Logic tells him to head home and forget the truths he found on the island. But can he walk away? Josie offers him more than love; she offers him hope. When the clues pile up and it looks like she can never be the girl for him, he has to make a choice- play it safe and break her heart, or risk everything for a chance at being swept away.
I'll tell ya how much I enjoyed this book. I had the privilege of reading an earlier draft of it prior to publication, but I still bought the book when it came out, just so I could enjoy its new shiny incarnation... and write a review, so YOU know how good it is, too.
Ms. Seckman is a very talented writer, so everything she produces has a smooth down-to-earth quality that makes it a fast-reading pleasure. This book is no different. Well, actually it IS a "little" different. Personally, I think it's her best book to date. I mean, this book has got it all. Mystery... repressed memories... dangerous killers... a touch of the paranormal... and of course, romance. There are bad cops, good cops, a dysfunctional family, and the sheltering love of caring friends. The characters are well-developed, the dialogue is spot-on terrific, and the story's exciting, with an unexpected turn or two.
So, yeah, I liked it. A LOT. I'll give it four and a half stars, rounded up to five. Why not a five outright, you ask? Because I have no doubt this writer's talent will continue to grow, so I have to leave a teensy bit of room for the amazing work she's still got in store for us. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
"He came looking for a ghost. Instead, he found a girl." The best tagline description of a book I've ever read.
Grieving, looking for answers and needing a little space Tucker Boone begins the search for a sister he never knew existed. And that's after learning he also has a father of the blood and flesh kind and not the 'sperm donor' kind.
Elizabeth Seckman has a fascinating, suspenseful romance in her latest release, Swept Away. I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I loved the setting, Ocracoke, North Carolina. A place I want to visit, heck a place I'd love to live, except for the fact that I'm afraid of water, and it's an island. Oh well, but it does seem as if being there would bring mystery and adventure to any life.
Tucker Boone doesn't find what he's looking for; he finds a whole lot more - murder, a knife in the back, and a girl who intrigues him beyond all measure.
Swept Away is how you'll feel while reading it and coming back won't be your first desire when you're done, booking a visit to Ocracoke, North Carolina will be, though!
Well done, Elizabeth. Now I'm off to read a few more of your books!
I knew as soon as I started this book, I wasn't going to put it down...and I was right. Swept Away is a thriller romance that keeps you in knots clear up until the very end. Cheer on Tucker as he goes looking for his missing sister and finds SO much more. I loved the tidbits of veteran life that spilled through and gave me a greater appreciation for those who serve in the military. I hesitated with Tucker over Josie and her quirks. I cringed at the injustices that so often plague relationships when communication fails. Plot twists smacked me hard in the face through the last half of the book and kept me glued to the page. This was a great story filled with the bittersweet and a central theme of hope.
Content Warning: There is language, though no F-bombs, references to various kinds of abuse, and intimate scenes that are what I'll call half closed-door. Nothing graphic or offensive, but maybe too much for anyone who prefers clean romance.
Swept Away is a mystery-slash-romance that will hook you from page one. Two friends survive a bad storm...or do they? We switch to Tucker's story and learn one of the girls in the prologue may be the sister he's never met. He follows the clues to an island, where he meets a woman who closely resembles the girl in the picture...but is she? I've read quite a few mysteries and I have to say this is one of the most unpredictable I've ever read. You'll keep eagerly turning the pages until you reach the end!
It started off as a nice, easy, hot romance. A sexy bloke and a rather weird woman... but I knew that wasn't going to last - I'd read the blurb!
The change of pace kept me reading, wondering how each escalating situation would be resolved - Tucker and Josie has more than their share of trauma, but I liked how the author drew all the elements back together.
As always, Seckman's writing is smooth and flows so well, you just have to keep reading. She draws brilliant characters, but in this book the secondary characters, Hetty and Murray, were particularly well-rounded and believable.
************received an ARC for an honest review***********
Swept Away will have you laughing and crying. You will fall in love with the main characters. I don't want to give any of the mystery away..so I will say this...if you are a lifetime addict...then Swept Away is a must read. Elizabeth Seckman has a way of crafting a story that makes you unwilling to put the book down.
I received a copy of Swept Away through a goodreads giveaway, and I am so happy that I did! Once I started this book it was hard to put it down! It pulled me into the pages from the first chapter! If you like a mystery with heart this book is definitely for you!
SWEPT AWAY was another book I picked up on a Stuff Your Kindle Day. It had romance, mystery, hard topics, beautiful settings, and a bit of a thrill/paranormal element.
Where I struggled was the lack of character development, the yucky feelings that I had when it was alluded to that the MMC and the FMC were half siblings (not really a fan of reading about an incestuous relationship- , but still- it was a little icky to read), and then my belief that the whole last 25% of the story could have been edited down to a final chapter and a corresponding epilogue, as some of the extra drama that unfolded then could have been done in a few paragraphs and stretching it out did little to add to the overall plot and pacing.
This story is a solid romance sprinkled with a dusting of paranormal and several dollops of mystery. Tucker Boone, a young man on a search for a half-sister he’s never met meets Josie McCoy, a young woman whose life is laced with mystery. Both are fighting their own demons and find in each other kindred spirits. By the end of the story I found myself on the edge of my seat, turning pages as fast as I could read them, as one life-threatening situation after another came hurtling at them. While I trusted the author to have written an HEA, I was getting nervous as I approached the end. All I can say is whew. Well done, Elizabeth Seckman.
The story begins with Maddie and Aerial who make a pact of running away from home and starting their life elsewhere with their dog Toby. Back to present day, Tucker is out of the marines and adjusting to civvy life. His mom tells him that his father and he aims to look for him. His mom gives him the address of where he was last known and she’s not impressed about him wanting anything to do with him. He tracks down the address and meets his father’s girlfriend and she let’s slip that she had a daughter by his father. So he has gone to look for his father and gained a sister! Can’t wait to meet her, so he eagerly asks where she is. To be told she ran away from home 5 years ago and not been seen since. Surely Tucker could find her. She hands Tucker a photo and a note “I’ve gone Mad Mags”, does this hold a clue? Once arriving on the island he speaks to a shop keeper to say there’s a chap called Murray and his niece Jose looks the spitting image of Maddie and not to ask him out right. So he decides to enquire about working for him. When he sees Josie she is absolutely stunning. As he gets to know her she is really quirky in the sense of not wanting to go into town or socialising. Likes to spend a lot of time in the graveyard. As Tucker gets closer to Josie she keeps pushing him away. What secret is she harbouring? It is a tale of murder, deception, love and heart break. I warmed to Tucker as he sounded warming and protective and not forgetting he’s a sexy marine (we all like a man in uniform right?). Josie irritated me in parts, felt like shouting at her to make her mind up with what she wanted! I really warmed to Jetty and Murray, as protective guardians, they sounded believable. Love the pace of the story, nice easy read, uncomfortable in some parts but that just made me wanting to know what the outcome would be. Very much recommended.
I keep waffling as to how to shelve this. That's my main concern actually, not how I felt about it. It had a good mystery to it. It also dragged in some paranormal aspects. HOWEVER, do I think the Romance angle was a little weird? Yes. Do I think it wasn't actually the main focus of the book? Also, yes. I went with crime, mystery for my shelf. I think the romance was secondary and I don't know if it was really necessary to the book. Also, I didn't buy into it really.
Swept Away by Elizabeth Seckman is a book that had me wondering from the beginning. This is the first book that I am reading by this author, so I truly had no idea what to expect. I am giving this book 4.5 stars. It has suspense, mystery and romance all rolled into one. I could not put this book down from the start. Ariel and Madison are best friends who decide to runaway together only things go terribly wrong the night they had this planned. Tucker is in the military and when he back from his final tour of duty, he finds out that not only is his father not who he thought it was but he also has a half sister that has been missing since she was 16. He goes to see her mother and is given clues to try and find her. The clues bring him to Ocracoke Island, off the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There he finds Josie. Is she is missing sister? The more time they spend together, the closer they become. He feels it deep in his heart and soul that she is not Maddy but he knows she is hiding something but he isn't exactly sure what. Not only are Josie and Tucker getting closer as friends, they are falling in love. Josie believes that Tucker was sent to her for a reason. When someone is after Josie, the truth comes out about who she actually is and what happened to Maddie and Ariel.
Maddy and Ariel are the best of friends. As young girls they grew up together and couldn't be any closer if they were real sisters. With Ariel having problems at home with her mom and step dad Jeb, the two devise as plan to run away to escape the abuse that only a few know of. Their plan didn't go according to plan though, and both girls disappear and are feared dead. With Maddy’s body never being recovered her mom is holding onto hope years later based on a letter that she knows can be from none other than her missing daughter. Left with dead ends, she finally will be able to have hope when her stepson comes looking for answers. Twenty-two year old Tucker Boone comes home from war in Iraq with questions that only his mom can answer. Led to believe his whole life that his dad was a sperm donor, he finally gets his mom to admit the truth. Having lost a friend in the war who was protecting him, and an ex-girlfriend who took her own life, Tucker blamed himself for both their deaths and decided he needed to go to his father for answers to questions he always had. Upon arriving to his father’s house, he is met by Gloria, his step mom who tells him that his dad has suffered from a stroke and is in a nursing home as a result of it. She tells him that he also has a sister and the story of her disappearance. Desperate for adventure and a need to run from his guilt, he agrees to trying to find his sister. With the clues Gloria provided him with, a internet search produces a clue that will lead him to the Orcacoke Inlet to search for answers. Upon arrival he makes a contact who may just send him on the right path. With nothing better to do, he decided to pursue the clues and stick around for a little while. Sent to Murray a local small business owner, he is quickly hired on as help and given a place to stay. He meets Murray’s niece Josie McCoy, who happens to bear an uncanny resemblance to his missing sister. Drawn together the two become fast friends, and things will take a turn for the romantic, but each time I does Josie seems to pull away. Wanting to protect her Tucker needs to first find out what’s behind her fears one at a time. As things progress, this story has a way of making you second guess yourself every time you think you have it all figured out. Elizabeth Seckman’s writing style draws you in more and more every time you turn the page. A delightful read that will show you that true love and justice are still things to believe in.
Swept Away by Elizabeth Seckman is a book that I would for sure recommend to anyone who likes a good mystery/romance book. Tucker Boone is a Marine who just is no longer in the Marine Corps and when he left, he learned about who his father is and was given his last known address from his mother though his mother obviously did not want him to see his father or even know his father. Going to the address given, instead of meeting his father he actually meets his fathers’ girlfriend and this is where the mystery part of the story begins. The girlfriend gave Tucker information about his father including where he now resides and she gave him even more information that he didn’t know… the fact that he has a half-sister named Maddie who he never met who ran away. The girlfriend told him everything she knew which is the fact that the last person who saw Maddie was her boyfriend and gave him a note that said “I’ve gone Mad, Maggs”, she proceeded to ask Tucker to find Maddie and Tucker does so. Following the letter to Ocracoke, North Carolina Tucker is in for more than he could have imagined. There’s the mystery of his sisters’ disappearance and the reason for her running away, the fact that her friend Ariel isn’t as dead as people had thought since Ariel is actually the reason for Maggie running away thanks to Ariels’ home life which… really Is not something anyone should have to go through, and the mystery of Josie and the problems she has that she’s been running from. Oh, yes, Josie. Josie is a local girl that he meets: quiet, bit of a loner, and she is always hanging out in the graveyard at night she is pretty mysterious. At first Tucker is interested in her because she looks like the picture he had of Maddie and Ariel that was given to him so he would know what Maddie looks like, but as he gets to know her he ends up falling in love with her. Josie has some secrets that Tucker tries to figure out, at first it’s because he thinks that she’s Maddie and then later because he loves her and wants to help her. I absolutely loved this book, it for sure kept me interested through the whole book and there were so many twists and turns and… I absolutely love it! I love how protective and caring Tucker is, and the book keeps you guessing. I would recommend this for anyone to read.
Tucker Boone is an ex-marine who upon leaving the service tries to find himself and his place in the world. He learns about his real father and the mystery of his half-sister, Maddy, who went missing five years ago.
He finds himself in North Carolina having followed a clue about where his sister could be and becomes instantly smitten with his beautiful new neighbour, Josie. She manages to soothe and comfort him just by being in his presence and Tucker finds himself falling in love with her.
Tucker – “He understood it all in that moment. She was everything, and he was nothing without her.”
The attraction between the two grows and flourishes but Tucker senses Josie has a secret to hide and it may involve his missing half-sister. Confusion and distrust threaten to tear them apart but Tucker fights hard enough for them to overcome their problems.
Tucker – “Seriously, if she’s this upset thinking I might have something going on with Marcia, then that has to mean she’s into me right?”
Tucker is an alpha male and stands up for what is right. He is instantly protective of Josie and just wants to ensure that all is well for her. I loved how patient he was with her and that he never rushed her into making decisions ort demanded she tell him everything, it was all about going at her pace and it was refreshing to read.
Josie was like a skittish animal, she needed to be rescued and bought out from the shadows in order to flourish and its clear from the moment they meet that Tucker is the man for the job.
Josie – “I’ve lived a quiet. Peaceful life for years. Then you show up and I’m on this insane roller coaster. You make me want things I can never have.”
Swept Away is the first book I’ve read from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The storyline was well developed and it kept me guessing till the very end. I loved the supporting characters and that all the last remaining threads were joined up to create a brilliant ending. The scenes between Josie and Tucker were very moving and the tenderness between them just made the book very moving and emotional.
Swept Away is a book that has the recipe for an amazing read. Some mystery, some romance, great characters, and a plot that keeps you guessing until the very end! Swept Away focuses on two main characters, Tucker and Josie. They, although living in the same book, have very different stories. Tucker finds out as he is getting ready to go into the Marines that his father wasn’t a sperm donor, he was an old boyfriend of his mother’s. When he gets back from a tour overseas, Tucker goes searching for his biological father and finds that he also has a sister that has gone missing. The only clue to his sister’s disappearance is a letter about “Mad Mags” and his step mother’s insistence that his sister is out there somewhere. After doing some research, Tucker finds an island where there is a ghost lore where they call the ghost “Mad Mags”. Of course he goes there to investigate further. While on the island, he finds of a man whose niece came to the island not too long ago so he befriends the man and starts working for him. He also meets the niece, Josie. Josie is mysterious and a little strange. There is something about her that Tucker just can’t put his finger on. The strangest thing is the feelings he is developing for this woman and he can’t even help himself. He didn’t come to the island to find love, but can that be helped? With bad news and even worse luck lurking around every corner will Tucker and Josie be able to be together or should Tucker just give up and go home and try his hardest to forget Josie and his time on the island? There is so much mystery and so much guessing that this book keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last. I only put the book down to go to work and the whole time I was at work I found myself thinking about it and wondering how it would end. The characters are amazingly written and the plot doesn’t leave any questions unanswered or any rocks unturned. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for any genre because this book hits the nail on the head with all of them. There truly is something for everyone!
Swept Away is an amazing romantic suspense novel by Elizabeth Seckman. I haven’t read anything by this author previously so I didn’t know what to expect but I was totally blown away by it – it was a fantastic book. There was no guessing the outcome of this book for me – it had me hooked until the very end and I couldn’t put it down. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. It was excellently written and had some fantastic descriptive writing in it – I really cannot wait to read more by this author!
The story is about Tucker Boone, a war-hardened Marine and fresh out of the corps, who has just discovered he has a half-sister who is missing. The only possible clue to her whereabouts is a cryptic note saying ‘I’ve gone Mad, Mags’. This note has Tucker heading to Ocracoke, North Carolina in search of a ghost called Mad Mags and hopefully a lead to what could have happened to his sister. Whilst on the hunt he gets himself a job and accommodation and also a new neighbour called Josie McCoy! Josie piques his interest – there is just something about her – he feels an instant connection that he just cannot explain.
This book has everything in it – romance, deception, suspense and love. I honestly thought it was one of the best books that I have read so far this year. I loved the characters – Tucker was just yummy! He was kind, caring, and very protective. Considering he had only just discovered that he had a sister he was really focused on finding her. Even when it looked as though Josie could never be the one for him he never gave up hope. I think it was pretty obvious that Josie was hiding some kind of secret and I thought her character came across really well. Strong and independent but with a naïve and skittish streak, she also had a good sense of humour considering everything that happened to her.
I thought this really was a fantastic story and it thoroughly deserves the 5 stars I give it! Believe me you will be totally ‘Swept Away’ by this book!
WOW!! A WEB OF LIES, DECEIT AND MURDER!! Two best friends decided to run away together but did they? A soldier gets out and comes home from war to only walk back into the war of his life! Tucker Boone is on a ghost hunt for a half-sister he just now found out about. He never knew who his real father was because his mother told him he came from a sperm donor, until now. Tucker found the trail to his step-mother who told him where to find his ailing father. But she also had a story about her and his fathers’ daughter and her best friend that was missing. She gave him a cryptic note that he didn’t understand but Tucker promised her to search for her since now he had a half-sister. He did searches and ended up in Ocracoke, North Carolina. That is where he met her. The only thing anyone knew about Josie McCoy was she showed up a few years back and she was quiet and didn’t have much to say to anyone. Josie was keeping huge secrets that no one knew about and now she has a new neighbor that seems interested in her. The first thing Tucker notices is how beautiful Josie is and they connect on a spiritual level like one he has never felt before. But when danger knocks on Josie door he just can’t bring himself to leave. The mystery and his half-sister are somehow tied together with Josie. Now he is in knee deep trying to keep Josie safe and figure out who Josie McCoy really is and Tucker is scared to death to find out the truth. Elizabeth Seckman has written a very good story! Her writing is smooth and kept me hooked. I loved the twist and the emotions she brings out in the reader! A definite must read!!
Tucker Boone is a Marine just back from war. He has a not so great relationship with his mother, Marlene Adkins, but during one of their 'talks', he learns that his biological father, Rob Morgan, was a womanizer who left his mother when he was a child. Tucker decides to find him. He learns from his step-mother, Gloria, that his father suffered a stroke and is in a nearby nursing home. He also finds out he has a step-sister, Maddy, who apparently ran away from home several years earlier, to start a new life with her best friend Ariel. Gloria believes a note sent to Maddy by Ariel is a clue to her whereabouts. All the note says is, 'I've gone Mad, Mags'. At Gloria's request, Tucker goes in search of his sister.
Tucker finds himself in Ocracoke, North Carolina after doing research on the internet and reading a story about a restless spirit named Mad Mags that haunts family graveyards. It's a stretch, but Tucker takes a shot. He lands a job as a mechanic's assistant and it includes a small cottage on the premises.
Then he meets Josie McCoy, the niece of the man he's working for. She's beautiful, but standoffish at first. Although she's eccentric, Tucker can't help but fall for her, but her past haunts her. Eventually, the truth comes out. Can their love survive?
The ending is sad, bittersweet, and happy at the same time. As you all know, I don't do spoilers, so I'll leave the ending to your imagination.
This isn't the first book of Ms. Seckman's that I've read. She is a fantastic writer who puts her heart and soul into her works. The characters were all unique and had distinct personalities. No cookie cutter characters here. The story flowed well and was full of unexpected twists and turns. I'm a dreamer, so I had hoped one part of the story would turn out differently, but there are sad realities in this world.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in thrillers and mysteries with love mixed in. I'm definitely reading more of her books.
Swept Away is a Novel by Elizabeth Seckman. This novel takes place in Ocracoke, North Carolina where a ghost is said to haunt graveyards around the town. Fresh out of the Marines, Tucker Boone finds out his mom has been lying to him his whole life. Growing up believing his mom used a sperm donor, imagine the surprise when he learns his father was actually an ex and now due to a stroke he will never know his father. He also learns of a sister he never knew he had, and possible never will. His sister went missing and has been classified as a runaway, but her mother does not believe she ran away. With no plans on the horizon Tucker decides to try to track down his missing sister using a note believed to have been sent from her saying, "I've gone Mad, Mags.". Following clues leads him to a little town with the story of a ghost that is said to haunt graveyards named Mad Maggie. While he is no closer to finding his sister he does meet a neighbor that quickly steals his heart. Josie McCoy is just trying to live life under the radar, but when the Marine moves into the cottage next door and begins working for her uncle she can not deny the feelings he gives her. When you are just trying to keep everything together sometimes the people that come into your life are there for a reason. She never in a million years would of guessed what that reason was with Tucker. When she decides he needs to know that she is not who she says she is will love be enough to keep them together. This story is good and I like it, but it was slow to start and then it was like a rocket taking off in their relationship. It went from she would not even talk to him, to them saying I love you. To me is just not realistic. Having said that the plot was a great and the mystery surrounding the story was filled with twist and turns that i did not see coming. I recommend everyone give this book a chance!
Swept Away by Elizabeth Seckman was such an amazing story full of twists. In this book Tucker is done with war and comes home to finally meet his dad. Up until the night before he left, he was told that his father had a donor number, his parting gift from his mom was that she actually knew who his dad was. When he goes to meet his dad he finds out that things are not as they seem. He discovers that he has a half sister and she is missing. Gloria, his stepmom-ish, begs him to help her find Maddy. The one clue that he was given leads him to a small tourist town where he meets Josie. He has an instant connection with Josie and wants to spend as much time with her as possible, He starts to lose sight of why he is really there and when things start happening, he fears that he made a huge mistake in getting close to Josie. Now he has to decide which road to take. While he is trying to decide what to do, Josie’s past come back to haunt her and he is forced to make this decision right away. Josie is a lost soul that desperately needs someone to stand in her corner. She has so many secrets and so many fears that she can barely survive on her own. She gets close to Tucker and is so scared to lose him. When her past comes back to get her, can she count on him to stay by her side or is this all to much to expect of one person? I was so hooked with this book; I couldn’t put it down because I had to know how it all turned out. The characters had so much “real life” depth to them and the feelings that they evoked were intense. When everything was said and done, I actually took a moment to process how everything worked out and to think about how I felt about it. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
Tucker Boone is a sexy marine who recently found out he has a half sister named Madison Morgan. Maddy and her best friend Ariel Stone had plans to runaway together but somehow those plans fell through. Ariel was killed and a note was sent to her house that read "I've gone Mad, Mags"
Tucker needed answers about Maddy. Did she run away, was she kidnapped, killed, who knows. His leads had him going Ocracoke North Carolina. From the research Tucker has done, all he can up with about Mad Mags said it was a spirit that supposedly haunted the family graveyards of Ocracoke, NC. Basically, he was chasing a ghost story. When he arrived, he stopped at a store and Ella, the woman there said the picture Tucker showed her of Maddy looks just like Josie so she directed him Murray Banks place since he's always looking for summer help and Josie happens to be Murray's niece. Tucker ends up meeting Josie and Murray. He stays on the property in a cottage right next to Josie. They become good friends and maybe even more. Tucker sends a picture of Josie back home to see if Gloria would think that she could be Maddy. Before long, Josie's past comes back and she could've never imagined what wouldve happened. The book was written well but, I don't like ghosts, vampires or shifter books. This book was very hard for me to finish. Please don't let my opinion of the book cause you not to read it.
Once I got about half way thru the book and realized it didn't have much to do with ghosts, I found it a lot easier to read. The first half was confusing to me. There were a lot of characters and just a lot going on. The ending was quite confusing also but, if you slow down and pay attention to the characters, you shouldn't have a problem following it.
He came for a ghost, but found a girl! Right there, the words grabbed me before I even dove into this book. Elizabeth Seckman. This is again not a book that I would normally read but I feel in love with the story, the foundation, and the amazing character, Tucker Boone. What I also loved about this book was it was able to hold my interest but also kept me guessing until the very end. I had to finish it to, to find out the truth. ONE SITTING and I loved it!
Tucker Boone is a ghost hunter and finding out that he has a sister that disappeared, he takes it upon himself to find out some answers. Not just learning about his sister, but about his real father really affects him, after learning his father was not a sperm donor like he had been told his whole life. All’s he was knows is a note was left that simply stated, I have gone mad, Mads. When he seeks answers on the island, he is instantly drawn to his neighbor Josie and it’s something that he cannot explain. When his summer at the island reaches it end, he is mixed up with lies and murder but also a love that he cannot walk away from. He doesn’t know if he should play it safe and walk away or risk it all for the girl that he has grown to love. When he looks for the answers he needs, Tucker finds so much more.
Elizabeth Seckman is an AMAZING author that I have say I am glad that I have read, I am very excited to say that I have also gotten her other books and so excited to dig in. I was fascinated and able to get swept away from the second I started reading, which is normally hard to do right when I start a book. She grab ahold me and I didn’t let go till the very end of the book. I happily give this book 5 stars and recommend this to anyone who loves romance and suspense, you will not be disappointed!
WOW! SWEPT AWAY is incredible. It is the first book I have read by Elizabeth Seckman and I was thrilled to discover what an amazing author she is. I don't normally like books about ghosts, murder, and mystery, but Elizabeth nailed this one and kept me hooked and totally intrigued from page one. I loved everything about this book. The characters, relationships, suspense, and the romance. The way she unfolded the mystery was ingenious.
"He came looking for a ghost. Instead he found a girl."

Swept away by Elizabeth Seckman is the first book in the Heart String series. It's the first book I've read from this author. Ms. Seckman takes you on a ride of one man looking for a missing sister and finding love.
Another book where I'm struggling writing the review not because it wasn't good but because I don't want to give too much away-Tucker Boone just left the Marines. While trying to adjust to civilian life, his mom drops a bomb on him. He learns his he has a sister-and she missing. Going to North Carolina to a town where it's haunted, he embarks on a mission to find his sister. He moves next door to a woman named Josie, and is intrigued by her. Knowing she's hiding something, is he willing to stick around when he finds out the truth?
Josie is living a quiet life in Ocracoke, North Carolina. She keeps to herself until one guy changes her life for the better. Someone who is patient and kind-but is also on a hunt. Meeting Tucker was unexpected but when her past collides with his, will they be able to withstand it?
This book was amazing! It was a little slow paced in the beginning but it sure made up for it. I loved how Tucker and Josie's relationship was, and how understanding he was with her. It kept me guessing and I was completely drawn into Ms. Seckman’s fictional world. I highly recommend this book and looking forward to reading more from this author!
Wow. Such a different book to read. The story is about friends that go through things in their childhood that they should not have to. Maddy and Ariel were best friends and would do anything for one another. They decided to run away together and get a place and start a new life. They had it all planned out until something happened that changed it all. Tucker went off into the military against his mother’s wishes but he did not feel that college was for him. He lost his best friend and eventually his ex-girlfriend. Tucker was a good guy and he wanted to know his real father so when he came back from overseas he searched for him and found out that he had a half-sister that he did not know about. His step mom encouraged him to find her since she was missing. So he did just that and in the process he met a girl that he could not stay away from. Was she his missing sister? He kept that in the back of his mind at all times. He started getting close to Josie and learned that she had some weird ways about her like going to the cemetery in the middle of the night. Tucker got really close to Josie and when he found out her secret he wanted to help her. She was important to him in many ways and it was his job to protect what belonged to him. This is quite a different story and it took me a while to read it but it was good in the end.
This is my first story by Elizabeth Seckman, and she did not disappoint at all! She had me pulled in and wanting to know what happened so fast! She is such a talented writer, with a smooth technique that made for such an easy read.
In Swept Away, we have Tucker, a former marine, who recently found out he has a half sister, from the father he never knew. He wants to know why his father left his mother and why he didn't stick around to raise him. He sets out on his journey, and gets a whole lot more than he bargained for, he uncovers secrets and lies. Once he finds his father, he is introduced to his step mother who gives him a cryptic note with a huge mystery. He starts to search and is led right to North Carolina, and that's where he meets her.
No one really new anything about Josie, she didn't really talk and stayed out of everyone's way, never really having much to say to people. But she's keeping huge secrets, about lies and murder. Tucker just happens to move next door to Josie, and the two begin to fall in love, but when Tucker discovers Josie’s secrets, he's not sure if he can handle the lies. But he knows that with danger lurking around he can't leave Josie, he has to keep her safe, and figure out what to do, and figure out who Josie really is.
This book was so good, I love a great story that can keep me guessing through out the entire thing. Very well done!
5 out of 5 fantastic, well deserved stars! Wow. Just wow. Swept Away by Elizabeth Seckman is the first book I’ve had the privilege of reading from this author. Rest assured I’ll be backlogging all I her books I can get my hands on from this point forward. Tucker Boone is a Marine. Fresh out of the Corps he discovers he has a half-sister who has gone missing. There is a clue to her whereabouts, however vague it may be. A note saying ‘I’ve gone Mad, Mags’ (Already, I was hooked!) which leads him to a town with a lot of secrets, Ocracoke, North Carolina, in search of ghost named Mad Mags. While in this town attempting to uncover the secret to his sister’s disappearance Tucker meets his neighbor Josie McCoy. He knows he’s drawn to Josie and can’t pinpoint exactly why but he also knows something isn’t right. She’s hiding something. This story was astounding! Absolutely everything I enjoy in a book. Mystery and suspense and love with questions at every corner and never knowing what was coming next. Well developed characters, primary and secondary, and descriptive scenery that puts you right in that island town in North Carolina. What a ride! You should get on it. You won’t be disappointed, I promise.
Tucker is a marine who’s ready to explore Ocracoke, North Carolina, a haunted place that has more than just echoes of a ghost. It might also have clues to where his half-sister, whom he’s never met, could be. Mysterious circumstances surround this sister, her friend, and their disappearances.
There’s not just the mystery to solve, but love to be found. Tucker falls for Josie, a local girl. They’re sweet together, but something isn’t right. Tucker has all sorts of suspicions about her. When the two of them find themselves in danger, new revelations, both the bad and the good, rise to the surface.
I really like Seckman’s storyline here. I’ve immensely enjoyed her other novels, but this one seemed more intense and complicated, and the ghost added a wonderful layer to the setting. I recommend this for romance and suspense lovers. Readers will fall in love with Tucker and Josie.
