Fate had never been kind to Ji Ning. Wracked by illnesses and infirm his entire life on Earth, Ning knew early on that he would die as a teenager. What he didn’t know was that there really was such a thing as life after death, and that the multiverse was a far larger place than he thought.

A lucky twist of fate (one of the few in Ning’s life) meant that Ning was reborn into a world of Immortals and monsters, of Ki Refiners and powerful Fiendgods, a world where Dynasties lasted for millions of years. A world which is both greater…and yet also smaller…than he ever could imagine. He would have the opportunity to join them, and in this life, Ning swore to himself, he would never let himself be weak again! The Era he was born into was a Desolate one, but Ning would make it his era.

Too many coincidences. Too much luck. Getting overpowered per chapter.

- Quote: plans never keep pace with events.
- Thoughts: The beginning of this book plot is one of those really bad and shameless "I'll break my own made up rules so we can have a plot" but fortunately the rest of the book make up for it.

The plot finally thickens.

The author is finally lifting the curtains from some of the mystery that the very first few chapters hinted at. At the same time, the story has come into its own after somewhat ok first 7-8 books. The author tends to use similar devices as other books but the story doesn’t feel like a copy paste or other books as a lot of reviews complain. There’s enough within the familiar stuff.

One of the best arcs in the series so far. The ending was alright but it almost felt like the author forgot about one plot line and wanted to wrap things up right at the end before moving on with other things. Ning’s development is great in this book and I expect an awesome tournament fighter arc for the next book.
