I love reading about Ancient Egypt; the culture and knowledge of a people who lived thousands of years ago fascinates me. Akhenaten was a particularly interesting royal in that he attempted to completely change the religion of a country steeped in worship of the Gods and their rituals. With the beautiful Nefertiti at his side he came perilously close to toppling millennia of tradition.

This is, of course, a novel, but it does explore the motives and machinations of the royal family and the priests. I was completely caught up in the dramas of these people as they jockeyed for position in the royal court. The author brought Nefertiti and her Pharaoh to life in a thoroughly engaging manner.

If this era in Egypt captures your interest you will enjoy this book as much as I have.

To me, Pauline gedge and Michelle Moran are masters of their game in writing Egyptian history so it should come as no surprise that I thought this book was mediocre in attempting to flesh out the characters. It might have been that the book was written from several different viewpoints and it was too busy. I suppose there will be sequels it I doubt that I will bother.

GREAT PLACE TO LOSE YOURSELF IN SEMI-HISTORY!

I am aware this is a story loosely based on history but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. When I'm in this book , that's exactly where I am. In Egypt with the story going on around me. The best part is that this story continues on. Believe me when I get to the end of one of theses books, I'm impatient to get reading the next one. It's almost as if I've been physically pulled from the story and I must get back in! And even though there are four books in this set, each one can be read as a stand alone. The only reason that is so hard to do is because they are so good you can't wait to read more. I was never so glad too find out after I finished the first book, that the story was continued on another book! I very highly recommend this book. You will lose yourself in it forgetting for a little while, what's going on in the real world. Anyone can read this. Wow

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! :) :D

I don't know how historically accurate any of this is, but I do know that life was cruel. I personally can't stand rules for the sake of rules, so I often have a hard time with history.

Each chapter of this book seemed to bring more gut wrenching misery. Not really my cup of tea. I know, don't read this kind of book if you don't like misery. I do love the tantalizing intrigue though. I guess you can't have one without the other. I just know my heart was relieved when it was over.

The Kingdom of Nefertiti (The Desert Queen #3) By M. L. Bullock

Unless you've read books one and two before, do not read this book. It's a mess. You can't tell who's who, it's impossible to follow. Narrated from the first person point of view of the protagonists: Astora, Nefertiti--Amenhotep's wife and queen of Egypt, Tiye--Amenhotep's mother, Ramose--a general in the Egyptian army, Sitamen--Amenhotep's sister, Pah--Nefertiti's sister and seer, Tadukhipa--Wife of Amenhotep's father, and also of the pharaoh himself.

Simply stated, too confusing and absolutely no plot to speak of. I never cared for any of the characters. Thankfully it was a free book.

Dramatic, engaging, the women that made Egypt famous so long ago are portrayed in all their glory and frail humanity. Their passion, their dreams, their vanity and weaknesses all play out on the adventurous stage of history. I love reading about strong, intelligent women and this series portrays the Pharaohs' wives as the catalysts behind many decisions, hinting that behind every great man in history before women were acknowledged as equals, perhaps, there was a partner of equal or greater success.

I did not know that the Royal people had so many problems.

I see that this book is #3 and I will go back and read the first two and how many others that come after this.

I would like to find out what happens after this book and what happened before this book---there are some hints in this book about what happened before but not a lot of detail.

I have always been interested in Nefertiti----and always wondered what happened to her.

Good Read

I enjoyed this 200 page read. Having not read the first two books in the series, I had no trouble understanding who was who and what was what in this present book. The author's writing mechanics were excellent, especially in dialogue.

Thank you, Ms. Bullock, for a good read.

Aweful

Do not buy or read this!! It's full of grammar mistakes, poorly written and makes no sense what so ever. Basically just adult content and that's all, there is no actual plotline and despite what the author says about these being stand alone stories, they lie! So many names I've never heard of before and I was so confused. DO NOT BUY THIS TERRIBLE BOOK!!!!!

Chilling

This chilling version of Nefertiti offers insight into the era in which she rose to fame. This book touches on the depth of the Queen and plays on the role of the love she and Amenhotep shared for each other and for Egypt. The Pharoah and Queen find they must accept their destinies, and the bond they share gives them the strength to accept their fates.

Great series

Third book, and I almost hate it that there is only one more. This series brings Nefertiti to life. And what a adventure filled life, so far! Do not pass this series up. Well worth you time.

The perils of Queen Nefertiti

Nefertiti becomes the great wife.Enemies abound for the Royal couple as Nefertiti rules Egypt during Pharoh’s absence. I’m anxious to read Book 4 to see what happens.

I thought it was a stand-alone book, but it is the 3rd book, and not the last one in the sequel.
Although I like to read about Ancient world(S), sth is missing in this book. You can understand what is going on, story is told by various people but still ambiguous.

Main wife and queen

Fascinating how a few lines in an old book or wall drawings or bones can make an authoress write such a delightful story of ancient Egypt. One can feel the fear, the hope, the intrigue of this time.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series. It is so fun to immerse myself in another time and place. I know this is fiction, but who's to say is didn't happen this way? I am not starting the last book in the series for a while. I don't want the story to end!

This trilogy got me! It was free on Book bub and it ended as sharply as the writing. Nothing was explained and I was so disappointed.

The Desert Queen

How Neferit became the top queen is told in this third book of the series. Well written with the continuing characters and unsuspected happenings.

Nefertiti

A fair read about Nefertiti but it wasn't that in-depth in my opinion. The characters had short parts in book with shallow personalities.
