Shattered Soul
Instead of using my powers as a Reader to work the psychic network hotlines, I work as a field agent for the clandestine agency, AIR. My elven partner Logan is showing me the ropes. Relocating a troll and interviewing a werewolf should be a normal day. When shots are fired and a fairy turns up dead, our day turns into a nightmare.
My job keeping mythological creatures, the Lost, hidden from the world takes a U-turn into an investigation. Using my powers, I have a shot at tracking the killer, but someone else has the same idea. An agency sanctioned assassin mistakes me for a demon and almost succeeds in taking me off the case and out of life. These are my tax dollars at work.

Great idea that needs an editor
The idea is sound, the characters solid, and the storyline well thought out for the most part. The author needs an editor to handle flow and sentence structure, as well as past and present tense. The writing has a "See Jane. See Jane run. Run Jane run." cadence that is distracting and interrupts flow. These are the thing that keeps the story from standing out from the crowd of 'middling' authors as someone reaching for true professionalism as a writer. Otherwise, see the first sentence of this review. I will watch this writer.

2.5 stars. Ok series about a psychic who works for a secret government agency keeping creatures of myth and legend out of the public eye.

I really liked this paranormal thriller. It had very interesting world building and a unique look at the paranormal. However, it did need some more editing, especially things a grammar check wouldn’t pick up.

Shattered Soul is a fairly standard fantasy/paranormal hybrid, with a secret organization to manage the supernatural, strong female lead, etc, but does focus a bit more on something of a murder/mystery style plot.
The characters are standard, and don't really try to explore or tread new ground, or delve into any serious character work. But they have decent chemistry and are reasonably likable. I do think the story suffers a little from its tropes, with a near immediate love interest, and a MC that falls victim to the narrative need for her to be strong (She, with a broken leg, decides to hunt a magical monster despite having a full team of competent professionals on hand to do it). She also exists in a nebulous zone of being new to the occupation, but not so new that her inexperience becomes a problem or an interesting way to explore the world, while also lacking the in-depth knowledge that would make her more interesting as a veteran archetype.
There are some near original monsters in the story, but Shattered Soul's main strength is that engages more in a mystery plot about trying to find and save captured magical creatures before something horrible can happen to them.
I would have liked the story to explore and just general do more with the concept of the MC and Vincent exchanging parts of their souls, or just more issues from the MC's soul being shredded and then shoddily reassembled than difficulties dealing with the ensuing power boost.
The reader for the audio book preformed well, but nothing spectacular.

Interesting Start To An Urban Fantasy Series
I’ve had this book in my TBR list for what seems like eons. I don’t know why I’ve not read it until now, but I’m sorry I waited as I really enjoyed it.
Cassie is a Reader. That is someone who can read energy and emotions around them, and the imprints from the past, present and sometimes even future. Her grandmother is an out and out psychic and she lives with Cassie, saving her bacon and sanity each day.
Cassie works for AIR (Agency for Interdimensional Regulation) as a field agent. She’s only worked there around a year and has a great mentor and partner, Logan, who is an elf. He also lives close by with his children. Her main jobs to date have been keeping tabs on The Lost, who are beings from other dimensions living in ours, and relocating or returning beings that need to leave areas for their safety or the safety of others.
Cassie is not a great field agent, but she’s trying really hard to learn on the job and to listen to everything she’s told. She knows she is easily manipulated by her partner but doesn’t really care because she knows he isn’t doing it maliciously.
Then a fairy is killed and all of a sudden she’s doing detective work, something she’s never done before and feels like she’s lost at sea. This is one thing I really enjoyed about this book. Cassie is most definitely a work in progress. She’s new to the job, she’s finding out things about her powers and trying to work out how best to use them, and she is reliant on others. I like that she’s not completely useless, but isn’t all powerful either. It’s a fine line to tread and the author does an admirable job of it.
I liked that her partner isn’t her romantic interest. He is a friend and mentor and that is something that an agent of her level would desperately need. I also loved her grandmother. Margaret is someone who is always trying to help the people she cares about and is well mannered whilst doing so, but they will be helped whether they want to be helped or not!
As well as the interesting world building and good character construction the plot is fast paced and intriguing. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to stop. I’m glad to see there are multiple books in the series, as I want to know what happens next.
Well worth a read for all Urban Fantasy fans.

Interesting world.
I felt no connection to any of the characters. I was actually irritated by them.

Interesting new series
The first of the AIR series touts itself as the MIB of myths. It isn't wrong, except, as far as I can tell, none of the characters where black. Otherwise, the story involves a super secret government agency which regulates interdimensional portals and those who use them. Cassie Heidrich is a new agent with the ability to read the energy paths around her, which makes her useful for tracking, among other things. Her partner, Logan, is an elf who currently has a fixation on old westerns, which can get annoying at times. Cassie's grandmother, a true psychic, lives with her and often spouts random predictions and pieces of advice. The rest of the book is populated with humans, most of whom have no extra abilities, and various mythological creatures, from fairies, to werewolves, to gnomes, etc. If it has at one time shown up in a myth or fairy tale, it's fair game to turn up in a portal, expected or not. All in all an interesting story and worth reading on to book two to see what happens next.

You know I really liked this book
Cassie and Logan are agents assigned to an agency to keep the Lost safe. The Lost are beings such as fairies, trolls, etc from other dimensions to land at earth through portals. Humans do know know about the Lost. Logan is an elf. Cassie is a Reader. Rider is a werewolf. Vincent is a Walker
Someone is taking the list. Kidnapping them from their homes in sanctuary like places and homes. Cassie and Logan need to find out who what and why. And stop it
I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. 47% into the book I was getting a bit...uninterested. It was not moving as quickly as I liked. I am an extreme fast reader. I read a lot of fast paced action filled fiction by well known authors. I soon realized that the settings, description of characters, the seemingly integration of some minor characters was necessary. The story picked up fast and the ending was just as it should be. Very good

I really enjoyed reading this book. I read all the books in the series that are published so far, in less than a week. I couldn't put them down! The idea of there being portals to different worlds that contain the beings our myths are based on is such a great concept! Then top it off with a protection agency that monitors those beings and deals with the mysteries and incidents that occur as a result.
The only complaints I have would be that I would have liked the descriptions of her characters to be more descriptive and there are a few grammar errors.
**I was going to use the word "creatures" instead of "beings", but my mind kept going back to the heroin of the series continually correcting people who would address the beings from other worlds as creatures, things or anything that made them seem as though they were not intellectual beings, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it.**

This book has a wonderful storyline/plot with a great combination of urban fantasy, adventure, supernatural suspense, and intrigue. It is the first book in a new series that will surely become a reader’s favorite.

Betrayal means death.
A great start to a new series. She can see the energy left behind by magical beings (beings from other dimensions that seem magical to human eyes). Her work for AIR has teamed her up with an elf and their job is to track and relocate said beings into safe areas. However when an attempt on her life shatters her soul the duo get a third member. The person that had had the orders to kill her. Does the attempt have anything to do with the missing beings that are being reported? Can they track who is running the scheme? Is their agency implicated? Add in flying monsters, betrayal, death and loss for a great read. The characters are great although I wish I could like the heroine a bit more.

Our heroine tracks fantasy creatures for their protection and ours. But nothing is ever as easy as it seems.
This is a delightful new series (new to me, at least) combining urban fantasy with some intrigue and other elements. This one leans a bit heavier on the fantasy side than most of this genre as it includes elves and trolls, as well as other fantasy races. But they are all woven together with a solid plot line and fun and interesting characters. Their is a good amount of intrigue to keep you guessing and humor to keep it light, making for a very engaging story. I am thoroughly looking forward to the next book.

I don't feel strongly about this book either way which is the problem I suppose.
It felt like the entire world around the MC is static and things only move or change when the MC is present.
The magic is very badly defined and is more used as an element for mystery and doesn't follow well-defined rules. It basically entirely controlled by the author's whim and what she thought would be cool at the moment.
There are a number of very obvious plot holes and I didn't find the resolution satisfying. The story is very much self-contained but I nonetheless felt like a lot of things were just left unexplained but not in a "teaser for the next book" kind of way but in a "the author just didn't bother" kind of way.
All in all just meh.

I would think that her trust is badly damaged. After all, she has been betrayed by one or more colleagues. Mass death and destruction is a far cry from the relocation and detainment she was used to.
Her friends and family have all felt the sting, and felt the effects.
How can they go on, surrounded by lies ? apparent or actual deceit? Does it matter if some of it is well intended ?
Threats from supernaturals and greedy entities of the human kind make for a dark and dreary work atmosphere that might be deadly for more than it seems.

What an awesome adventure! Human Cassie, along with her elven partner Logan, work for an unusual government agency known for protecting the Lost, mythical creatures found in our world. Logan is a veteran, but Cassie is fairly new, but she has a gift that is very useful. When their normal job takes a nasty turn, they find themselves hunting a kidnapping ring and a murderer, not a normal day at work...At least they make some interesting friends along the way!
What an amazing book! Can't wait to read the next two in the series!

Good story, interesting world
Complete book within continuing series. Story is unique in world building. I liked the agent perspective and it kept the story moving and holding my interest. The characters are diverse and interesting. I liked the main character. She is self motivated and developing her investigation skills. She is challenged by an event which changes her gift and forced to deal with that while also dealing with a evolving crisis at work. I will continue the series.

Pretty good book. I had a hard time connecting with the main character. Her personality/actions feel a bit inconsistent sometimes. And somehow, she seemed to have survived the plot of the book on an unrealistic amount of sleep deprivation. Still, the premise is interesting enough, and the content is fairly clean, with the exception of some swearing when some villain figures appear. I appreciate that the book gives closure on some plot points but gives you others to look forward to in the series.

Ce livre est rempli de créature fantastique tel que des elves, des vampires, des gremlins, des fées, des pixies et j'en passe. Ils n'ont pas tous un role principal, cela va de soit.
Comme personnage principal, nous avons un elf, une Reader suivit d'un Walker, d'un loup-garou et d'une psychic.
Les personnages sont attachants et l'histoire est bien écrite.
Il y a un peu de romance et beaucoup d'action ce qui fait qu'on ne s'ennuie pas avec ce livre.

Humans are the problem as she knows what goes bump in the night. She uses her powers with an elf to protect the list from humans but one day almost ends in disaster. A fairy is killed and then an assassin mistakes her for a demon. She is almost killed. Just is going on? how has she got herself into this mess? Can she solve it all before she is killed? Follow her adventures

The story got really good. We have Cassie, a Reader. Her mother and her grandmother are psychics. She now works for a secret government agency known as AIR. Her partner is an elf. The job is to find the Lost, creatures who come from other places and need help , either to be rehomed or returned to their home. Things are really looking bad when the Lost start disappearing. Really , really good

Cassie is a "Reader' who works for a government agency that keeps the existence of mythical creatures a secret from main stream society. Creatures suddenly start going missing and Cassie is attacked by someone within the agency.
This was ok. I liked the overall story but it was maybe a little too long? I thought Cassie and her group missed obvious clues and that was frustrating. But it had an originality that I enjoyed.

Very unique worldbuilding and an interesting cast of characters kept me reading. Fast pacing--in fact, at times a tad too fast--kept the plot moving along and built the tension nicely. A good twist on the villain (I had guessed someone else), and a few surprises in the storyline. I will probably read more of this series.

Picked this up by chance and read it through. There were a few typos which broke my concentration on the story, but nothing that a good proofread wouldn’t fix. The relationship between the heroine and other characters felt stilted to me, and I feel no interest to continue further with the series. Good premise, just wish it had lived up to my expectation.

Wow
This was a story I had trouble putting down. It’s difficult to both introduce a new world and keep the story from getting caught up in the intro. The characters are well drawn and the thriller aspect never loses its tightly paced path. While the initial bad guy is identified and the monster driven away, there are enough loose ends to occupy the series for some time.

Shattered Soul by Amanda Booloodian is a wonderful story to read. It is a wonderful story writen by a wonderful author that I never read before this story. I fell in love with the starting of this series , I highly recommend this story to everyone.

This book launches straight into the story. Having read the prequel and knowing the backstory made this book easier to get into.
No massive cliffhanger at the end but a keen sense of wanting to know where the characters are heading, makes me want to get straight into book 2.
Love the characters, world building and Cassie is a great MC.

Threats, friends, and captives
AIR is an interesting agency, from the people that work there to the assignments they take on. Cassie is a likeable character and her talent as a Reader is different. Logan, Vincent, and Rider as well as Gran add a nice mix of personalities that keep things interesting.
