It’s wonderful for a writer to live near Washington, DC as I do. The research resources are fabulous, the scenery is great – complete with monuments, gorgeous public buildings, and the most amazing, weird, convoluted, political people – and I get to be here with the most awesome family, friends and neighbors in the world. I live here with my wonderful husband (he’s my personal hero), my two delightful, growing-too-fast sons, and my three silly rescue dogs.
As former marketing executive, I worked for research parks, governmental concerns and not-for-profits, (which is also great fodder for the writer’s mind!) but now I’m happily employed as a consultant and full-time writer. I’m a member of Romance Writers of America, Science Fiction Writers of America, Mystery Writers of America, and Thriller Writers. I’m also a proud member of the Washington Romance Writers, an RWA chapter, as well as several online RWA chapters. I'm a former board member of the Romance Writers of America.
One of the most enjoyable things I get to do as a consultant and writer, is to teach. I enjoy connecting with my clients, readers and other writers. Having also worked in the funeral and cemetery business for nearly thirteen years, I teach a class on Body Disposal.
Being part of the Ad(d)ams Family, as you can imagine, Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love to work in the garden, run my dogs, hang out with my family, and write. Other than that, as another, more famous author says, the rest is subject to change without notice.

MODERN MAGIC: TWELVE TALES OF URBAN FANTASY is one of those books that happens maybe once a year. And it doesn't stick around long, so grab it while you can -- $1.99 -- crazy good price! Just buying one of the included novels would probably cost five bucks.
These are full length novels with an excellent interactive Table of Contents.What that means is that you can easily jump to and read any book in any order you want. that's important.
So find yourself some new series...enjoy! I received my copy of MODERN MAGIC from the publisher.

I gave this compilation 4 stars because not all the books were for my liking. All in all it is a good collection, it has something for everybody. I met some new (for me) authors and I am eager to read more books by them...

This anthology is quite different. It's twelve stories that are book 1 in series. It's a great introduction to new authors and their works. Ghosts, Vampires and wolves sprinkle the pages along with other paranormal creatures. Some are quite sexy, some are violent and some make you smile. A very eclectic collection. The book is quite long as well you can imagine, 12 full length books in one.

There are times when more actually is better. When it's donuts or ex-wives -- no. But when it's tales of urban fantasy? Yes, all day long!
Modern Magic is an anthology of novel-length urban fantasy tales available in digital format for a limited time. I knew when I opened the book and started reading the first story (Cellar by Karen E.Taylor) that this book is a treasure trove of quality fantasy! Ranging from urban fantasy to paranormal romance, sci-fi and horror, this collection is amazing! And the price is right -- only $1.99!
I know I'm using a lot of exclamation points, but I'm really enjoying this book. (There. That's a period...I have gained some control over myself.) I'm a big fan of Jim Butcher, Simon Green and others who write urban fantasy series. When I saw the listing of authors for this collection, I saw several who are new to me. I'm always willing to expand my reading horizons! (There I go again....)
All of the novels included in this collection are first in a series. Many of them I had not read before. My TBR list is definitely increasing!

Cellar - Karen E. Taylor. Originally published as Twelve Steps From Darkness, is the tale of addict Laura Wagner. Laura is battling her demons, both inner and supernatural. Taylor is also the author of the Vampire Legacy Series.
Hard Day's Knight (Black Knight Chronicles, Vol 1) - John G. Hartness. Children are missing. The police are baffled by the serial kidnapping case. Halloween is coming, and Vampire detectives Jimmy Black and Greg Knightwood are on the case to stop an ancient evil bent on destroying the world. Harkness also writes the Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter series.
Tainted (The Blood Lily Chronicles, Book 1) by Julie Kenner. When her little sister is raped, Lily Carlyle wants revenge. She gets it, but at the cost of her own life. Then she is resurrected into the body of a waitress named Alice, and becomes an assassin in the battle of good vs evil. Kenner also writes the Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom series, and the Codebreaker Trilogy.

Rating based on the value of the package. Twelve Urban Fantasy complete novels for $1.99.
All the books are the first in a series and I don't think you can get a better deal on tasting the first story on so many QUALITY writers. Any reader going through this package with the slightest interest in urban fantasy will (I promise) find a new favorite author, likely three or more. And YES, these are full-length novels, not excerpts from those novels.
I have previously had the pleasure of reading five of the stories and another two were on my to-be-bought list. Just getting those two in this package has saved me money. And the fact I have another five beyond that is just icing.
