The mists have returned! Darcy Sweet couldn't work out why the mists would have come back to town.Things have been calm, almost normal, since she'd put the Pilgrim Ghost to rest and solved the mystery of Great Aunt Millie’s death. So why would the mists be back now?The only thing it could be... the only reason she can think of is that trouble is coming to Misty Hollow once again. But what could the trouble be? And was she prepared for it?
If you’ve read this series in order, this book was a page turner and will tear at you. Darcy and co goes through it. Jon is missing and it’s a race against time to find him. Colby is a little paranormal star and the adults are learning to trust her senses.
Absolutely love reading about Darcy, Jon, Aunt Millie, and especially Smudge! Darcy is the type of friend we all should have. Keep up the great work K.J!
Book #19 in the Darcy Sweet series (and my 27th Emrick book) leap forward several years from book #18 (although we did have some of the gaps filled in with book #18.5 The Missing years) This one brings back an old bad guy and we discover more about Darcy's daughter and Smudge the cat is getting very old. The mystery itself is nothing overly dramatic but the continuity and the world building keep your interest as you grow with the characters and really want to know what happens next. Next up a new series from the author with book #1 of the cookie & Cream series - will this have some relationship to Darcy Sweet as the other series have so far? Only time will tell!
This one had me worried for a bit, cozy authors aren't supposed to do an R.R.Martin. Little Colby is the key though so the solution to the missing husband has Darcy hitting the casino to find her man. The most exciting thing about this book though is Colby's development and whether Jon will have any "Special" effects from his ordeal.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
My absolute favourite Darcy Sweet Mystery so far... Ok if I'm honest I nearly didn't finish it because something happened early in the book that devastated me, but then I thought nope it can't be true and I knew I had to keep reading to find out what really happened and I am so glad I did so without giving away spoilers if you are a Darcy fan this is a must must read right to the finish it was a brilliant mystery with lots of puzzle pieces to put together and I love how it skipped to 5yrs ahead from the previous book and Darcy still finds trouble where ever she goes.
Each Darcy Sweet novel is sweeter than the last. This one begins 5 years later than the last book, with Darcy having a sense of foreboding of what the mists are bringing in. This time the story is much darker, more suspenseful. I couldn't put it down, riding a roller coaster of emotions. Jon & Darcy's little girl Colby is quite a precious angel, & as Darcy says "a twenty-five-year-old trapped in a little girl's body." I can't wait to read more about the Sweet/Tinker family! Hopefully there will be more books to come.
I have a Darcy Sweet addiction. I wasn't sure if I would like Jon but he has fit in nicely. My only real complaint about this book is that there seems to be about 5 years missing between her last book & this one. Did I miss a couple books, I don't think so... I read them in numerical order. But now Darcy &Jon have a daughter?!? Not sure how I could of missed that but still a very good read as always.
I love this series! I hope it goes on and on. Love the characters, Darcy, Jon, Izzy, Ellen. Their kids are grown now too, Colby who has the same gift as her mother. Should make for some awesome future books! Can't go wrong with this series, its one of my all time favorites :)
The only thing I didn't like about this book is the author moves the story five years ahead. That said, the mists are coming back after being gone for several years and some things have really changed. Darcy is getting worried about the mists and what it might mean to her and the town. It is a wonderful book and I hope there will be many more in the series.
I was fortunate enough to read this series from start to end and enjoyed them greatly. I did, however, find many repeated grammar mistakes. In particular, the words 'me' and 'I' and 'she' and 'her' were often confused. This occurred in all of the books. I started highlighting them in the last three books, to make sure I wasn't imagining it. It's a shame, because it takes away from the story.
I chose this rating because it is the highest level you can give it. I have enjoyed reading anything that this author has written. She is very talented and makes the characters seem to come alive. I would recommend it to anyone.
I enjoyed all the books in this series. I fell in love with Jon and Darcy in the very first book . The books only got better as the series progressed..Hope there will be more books in this series.
These books are so good. I'm hooked. Hoping to read her other books soon. I'm a bit jealous of Darcy Sweet. Keep the books coming K. J. Emrick. I'm sure I'm one of your biggest fans
