I bought this book purely on the basis of Robert Bevan's previous work (C&C).
Unfortunately, it was not up to that usual high standard.
In my humble opinion, he watched Star Wars: A New Hope, followed by Dukes of Hazard, and thought... I wonder what would happen if I turned a classic story into a racist white power story?

Well this is the answer, and I was better for not knowing.

Recommendations: If you enjoy racist "parodies", you will love this. If you like Star Wars, don't read this. Or maybe read it before Disney sues Bevan back to the stone age.

Kindle Unlimited, the writer definitely isn't 'right' but he is on ku, a few binge readings were in my future.

Check with amazon to see if the 4 pack is still on sale, etc, I got it for 99, the 4 books listed above titled separately under the set. The smaller collections are listed below, 4 collections of 6 stories each with the titles listed . I read the 4 pack, then the collections, in order, not totally sure it would matter with this genre, do suggest personally that the 4 set then the smaller collections be read in order it did help in most cases. Then read the 2 short shorts listed, then picked up this one {5} because really do you want to miss anything? But Space Puppies and Flying Toasters is what started it all for me with this writer.

Childish, offensive and racist. The C&C books skirt around much of this nonsense with a character putting the offender in their place. That doesn't exist here.

This was the worst thing Ive ever read and its making me re-think reading future C&C books.

Entertaining space opera listening 🎵😒

This is a novella about a loser in space who thinks he will make it but never does.

I would recommend this novella and author to readers of space opera adventure novels 🤔🙃 2025 🙄🤓

A fantastically offensive romp

Space Puppies is a fantastic adventure. It is brilliantly offensive and hilarious. It is SATIRE, so do NOT take its subject matter seriously. Of course if you've read Bevan's other work you know not to take it seriously. I will gladly read anything this man writes, and you should too.

Even for parody... no, even for Robert Bevan, this was truly awful. Upon finishing this book I felt defiled, as though sweaty, filthy hands had ripped the clothes from my body; I could feel hot, sticky breath, reeking of whiskey, playing against my neck as a thick, bristling, chaw stained moustache brushed my ear.

A very well earned five stars.

Wow, this was crap. Recommend for homophobes, racists, sexists and people who appreciate poor writing and unoriginal ideas with godawful characters. Hey, at least it was cheap (or in my case, free).

This book lost me one page one. He author's biases are showing loud and clear. I'll stick to his critical failures books. At least those books are funny.
