SPARK is the second part of HEAT, a four-part novella series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Deborah Bladon
Cadence Sutton was living the life she always wanted. She was working at Nova beside Manhattan's sexiest chef and at night, she was the woman sharing his bed.
Life changed in an instant and when Chef Tyler Monroe lost it all, Cadence was there to help him pick up the pieces.
As they work together to rebuild Tyler's shattered life, Cadence realizes that she may be sacrificing more than she wants.
Can she really have it all or will someone from her past change her future forever?
Note: This ends in a cliffhanger. Parts Three and Four will be released within the next few weeks.
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
Will Tyler's dreams go up in smoke just like his restaurant? Can Cadence stay true to the future she sees for herself or will lust cloud her judgement? The chemistry between them is undeniable but can they trust each other? Will the 'sparks' continue to fly when the smoke settles? An outstanding read with an awesome cliffhanger! Deborah Bladon's books are a must read!
Short & sizzling! NOVA, Tyler's restaurant has just burned to the ground. Is Cadence's ex-boyfriend to blame? Will Tyler's jealous words destroy their relationship as well? And why is Tyler's favorite chef at his apartment? Exactly who is Chef Sergio Firi and what is his connection to Cadence?
So, I have read this series, but had not documented the first book. I decided to re-read them all. Great decision. It was a marathon Heat session, but an enjoyable one. You have to read them all. Spoiler alert: there's cliffhangers!
I finished this book in a heartbeat. I can't wait to continue the story as the cliffhanger once again got me....didn't see it coming!!! A few of the questions I had were answered, but there is still so much more. Jumping right into the next part!!!!
Trust is lacking and jealousy flares. Cruel words are thrown out and pain lances the heart. There’s more than meets the eye and I can’t wait to figure it out!
Spark didn’t quite start where I expected it too but strangely that works. Its three days after the fire. There’s a horrible, mellow, numb feeling in Bladon’s writing in the opening chapter. There’s distance that wasn’t there before and every good thing tastes bittersweet. It’s fantastically written and completely heartbreaking. Everything is up in the air; Tyler’s dreams are at risk and Cadence and Tyler’s relationship seems to be walking on a tight rope. He has moments of complete and utter jerkiness like that time that he just presumed she’s a whore... seriously? This book made me realise just how much we don’t completely know these characters yet. There’s a lot about Tyler that’s still unknown and as for Cadence, she has a really big secret – which I think I’ve worked out – but as always the boy’s got it wrong again... If there is one thing you can always count on Bladon for it’s the god awful cliff-hanger. She loves to leave us all with hearts racing, tears falling and general brokenness. Cadence has options which is something I like. She’s not quick to open up and you can’t help but love her for her independence. Even at the end of this book, when it all seems lost I’m not worried about her. She’s going to be okay, even if her heart is left destroyed she will be absolutely fine. That doesn’t mean I’m waiting patiently for the next book. I’m not. I’m 100% impatient. Also what the heck about Maribel?? Didn’t see that one coming. Personally, I think Cadence shouldn’t be working with Tyler if she wants their relationship to work. I also can’t wait to find out if I’m right about the cliff hanger...
Holy batman, I didn't see that coming!! The queen of cliff-hangers strikes again ;-)
I've just finished Spark, part two of The Heat series by Deborah Bladon, and this is definitely shaping up to be my favourite work of Deborah's to date.
We finished part one Burn with a major cliff-hanger which is cleared up at the beginning of Spark. We immediately delve back in where we left off, following Candace and Tyler’s story with all its ups and downs! This is not a straightforward love story, girl meets guys they fall in love and live happily ever after - no sir, it's A LOT more!!
Candace is still as headstrong as ever, holding her cards very close to her chest again in this part of the series - I'm itching to find everything out immediately! Tyler is seriously swoon worthy, but after an ending like that, I'm pulling my hair out waiting for the release of part three next week! With no shortage of steaming hot scenes, all you book dragons will surely be satisfied!!
Deborah’s unique style flows effortlessly really capturing the reader from the get go! I honestly couldn't fault a thing! It was an awesome read that I just couldn't put down! The best thing is, I know there is still so much more to come with this tale!!
If you haven't got your bottom into gear and started The Heat series, DO SO NOW ;-)
I have some serious issues with these books. 1. I feel like she is FLYING through these stories! I realize this is a novella, but there are 4 stories in total so she can slow down and take the time to make the stories more organic. It will lead up to a topic, or be in the middle of a conversation, and then end the chapter. the next chapter has the main character summarizing what happened or was said. It doesn't flow or make sense. 2. I do not feel ANY chemistry between the two main characters. I feel like they are just booty buddies rather than dating. All they do is have sex, cook supper, eat, and go to work where it's strictly professional. There's no romance or semblance of an actual relationship. I feel like the ending, yet another cliffhanger, only proves my point.
Intense, emotional, romantic, beautiful, yet so much sadness. Cadence and Tyler are so back and forth, first the restaurant had the fire, now they are trying to get Nova back up and running at a new location, Tyler has so many issues, yet, Cadence has some secrets she is hiding. They are trying to deal, yet one of them is about to rear it's ugly head, not sure Tyler can forgive her. Cannot wait for book 3... So, so intense.
Another great read by Deborah Bladon. Read though this one quick and can't wait until the next one is released. I hate that her books leave you on the edge of your seat but I get it, they are always worth the wait.
As for this one... I was so excited about Candace and Tyler after book one and where their love was leading but I wasn't so happy after book two. I love Candace and want her to be happy but feel like Tyler doesn't know her real worth. Wonder how I will feel after book 3 :)
I choice this rating because I really enjoyed the book. I think Tyler and Cadence made a really good couple. The characters in this book are really amazing. I wonder if the burning of Tyler's restaurant was an accident. The way this book and it was really surprising to me, because I thought you really care for Cadence. I'm ready for the next book to read what happened. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
Again this is a great series, a little bit nerve recking the ending of the previous book and I had to wait until all were out to read the books in a row. The first book had the best cliffhanger but the other books also didn't disappoint. I enjoy Deborah's writing and I can see her development and how she is also creating a community within her books.
I can't wait for her upcoming work and see what kind of things she has been working.
Sparks are definitely flying now between Cadence and Tyler. The honeymoon phase of these two are a treat to read to say the least, but I've come to learn that when things are going really well, some shit is about to go down. There are still secrets between Cadence and Tyler and their relationship is being put to the test due to some unfortunate events. Clearly Cadence has a past and Tyler is doing everything he can to make her his future.
Holy cow! This cliffhanger was unexpected and I'm very thankful I have the next in line. There is so much happening in this story. You can feel the angst between Tyler and Cadence. They both are so strong willed and the way things are unfolding will lead to an interesting ending I'm sure. Can't wait to see what's in store next.
Talk about a cliffhanger. OMG! This makes me want the next book soon. Has eluded to Cadence past possibly involving another restaurant and her parents in something she doesn't want people to know about.
Unbelievable and amazingly awesome read. I can't wait to read the next 2 books. Love every s single books that Deborah has written and I love the series.
#cliffhanger!!!! If this was a spark it burned the Hell out of me!!
Cadence has a secret from the beginning. Maribel has a questionable personality and Tyler blew me away. Love the twists and turns. Can't wait for the next one. DB never disappoints.
Cadence is on a mission to be the best Chef she can be. Working her way up in the culinary world comes at a huge price, especially when you fall in love with the owner of the restaurant you work at.
This book was everything I was hoping for and more. The suspense and not knowing what was going to happen kept me interested and at the edge of my seat! So worth the purchase and cannot wait for the next.
I have read this in one day, absolutely brilliant. I love all the books by Deborah Bladon. This again left with another tear jerking cliff hanger, I am now about to start book three
Great series so far I love it I can't wait for more I have loved so many of the characters and I love that from previous character make appearances in her books
I'm still having a hard time connecting with Tyler. The explanations that he gives for his actions and choices just aren't enough for me. Also Mirabel is shady as shit.
I am loving this series. Deborah has done it again! Tyler and Cadence are quite the couple. Just an awesome read. As always , cannot wait for the next book.
