I'd never read anything by this author before, but I'm sad to say I won't be doing so again! This book was so boring! I couldn't connect with the characters, the suspense plot felt weak, and it seemed to be crammed with unnecessary words! I hated the dual point of view that the book had, and it seemed like Brian and Jo used sex to solve their problems more so than actually using their brains! Maybe it's just me, as others really seemed to enjoy this, but I really didn't.

First time reading this author. It was a great story, Hot and sexy. The only problem I had with it was she explained too much of the firefighting logistics and not enough of the people in the story. I hope her next book is better with the people part of the story. I'd like to know how the guys took the news of their mother and the Chief being in love. A little more interaction of the guys at the station would be nice too.

This is amazingly well written for a debut fiction novel. I honestly had no idea this was Amy's first novel, and after enjoying it so much went looking to see what else she had written.

I absolutely loved this book, it had a great mix of romance, suspense, mystery, intrigue and a little bit of angst thrown in as well. It explored two of my favorite contemporary romance themes of friends to lovers and brother's best friend.

Josephine 'Jo' Meadows is the heroine. She is incredibly strong, sweet, independent and sassy. She is a female firefighter and paramedic and she certainly knows how to put her male colleagues in their place.

Brian Cavanaugh is the hero, he is a typical alpha male, but he's also sweet, caring and protective. He is a firefighter who has recently ascended to the job of chief, taking over from Jo's father who recently passed away.

I loved the relationship between Jo and her best friend Matt, but also the camaraderie and banter between the rest of the firefighters and paramedics.

Jo and Brian have a shared history that is addressed in the book, and share a fairly hot chemistry and attraction. The love scenes between the pair are fairly hot!

A completely engaging and enthralling read that captured my attention from the very first chapter. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! I see many more books by Amy Briggs making an appearance on my never ending to be read list.

This debut book is spectacular! The story from this author has so much heart, so much passion that you can feel it as you read.
I have never read a fire fighter story and am absolutely in love with this one.
Meeting Jo as a fire fighter who has found a family with the boys at the station where her father was the Fire Chief. She left there to pursue working at other stations, and as a paramedic. That is until her father's unexpected death.
Brian, the new Fire Chief and long time friend took over the place of her father at the station. He and his brother Matt, who I her best friend, want to bring her back to the place she belongs.
Her long time love for Brian might not make this transition easy. Especially when this long time play boy finds something in Jo that he never allowed himself to see before.
Passions ignite that could destroy them both, along with everyone at the station if they aren't careful. Her coming back poses certain challenges since Brian will now be her boss. The ever professional in her doesn't want this to ruin her career or his if word gets out.
Life can turn when you least expect it, and being in this line of work ups the danger factor. When life hangs in the balance there are things that can come to perspective that are suddenly more important than your stupid hang ups.
What will happen with them all and how will they all cope with the loss of the man they loved so much?
Read it and find out. I cannot wait for more from this author!!

description

Jo Meadows is following in her father's footsteps and becoming a firefighter. Devastated by her father's death, Jo is ready to settle down in her father's old station but the new Chief and childhood crush Brian Cavanaugh makes that questionable.

I was so impressed by Amy Biggs debut book. The feisty heroine Jo was smart, funny and independent. You felt the heartbreak from the loss of her father but could also feel her determination to succeed as a female firefighter.

The one thing that could derail her career plans are the feelings she has for Brian. Brian has realized that the one thing that has been missing from his life was there all along. But his fear for Jo and secrets that he has about an on going investigation could drive her out of his life and station. I get the feeling that deep down Brian always knew Jo would be his but the danger of their job held him back. Not just the fear of safety for her but his safety as well. That stress could break any relationship. His actions proved he had trouble separating the love he had for the woman and the knowledge that Jo was the job.

Jo and Brian have some major chemistry! The heat these two generated, could set off an alarm. Hot and steamy sex, I would expect nothing less from two firefighters.

Fired Up was a great start to Amy Biggs's new series The Brotherhood of District 23 and looking forward to the next.

This is a hard review for me

This is a hard review for me.

Let me start with this. I honestly believe that the story itself is worthy of five stars especially as a debut novel. It's really good, extremely detailed and interesting and I enjoyed it. I was extremely impressed with the story.

Unfortunately that's not all it takes for a good reading experience and I almost quit reading because the formatting was so hard to read. Editing and formatting is not normally something that bothers me unless it affects my ability to read the story which it did here.

My biggest issue was that when they are exchanging texts they made the font size much smaller which I had trouble reading unless I switched the font size back and forth between sentences and it was extremely tedious and annoying. It could be italicized or bold and would be much easier to read.

It also has a lot of misused or misplaced words that would be easily fixed.

I'm giving it three stars because this is an amazing debut novel and I would never insult the author by giving it less. I wish I could give it more than that but I had a hard time reading the story because of the listed issues. If she does an update I would gladly give it a better review.

Note: If the author is reading this I hope you don't take it personally. I hope you know how good the story is and fix the other issues so I can read and enjoy your work.

So a while ago I was kind of was feeling in a book slump. I was getting tired of reading the same types of books every day and needed something new. I happened to see this and read the description. I knew after reading the description that I wanted to read it. As with some other type books I'm really picky when it comes to firefighter books. They either hit the mark or they don't. This one went way beyond my mark.

I loved Jo. She's smart, independent and sassy. And she definitely hold her own in a job dominated by men. You could tell how much she loved her father (before he passed) and her adopted firefighter family. I loved her relationship with her best friend. I also loved watching her and Brian's relationship develop.

I also loved Brian. I thought he was sweet, caring and protective. And even though he seemed to be slow with realizing he's feelings with Jo. You could tell how much he liked it.

I think as a debut author with this book Mrs. Briggs hit this one out of the park. This book definitely didn't feel like it was coming from a new author. I also loved how Mrs. Briggs brought to life the firefighter brotherhood. This book brought everything I loved in a book, plus some hot hot heat (in more ways than one).

I'm giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5 and can't wait for more!!!!

Needing something to take my mind off events back home I picked 'Fired Up' to ease my mind of the horror in Orlando. Funny I didn't know the setting would be Orlando.

Jo Meadows has lost her father, the Chief at station 23, after not taking care of himself and years of stress. If not for her firefighting family she would be essentially all alone. Her best friend since the day she was born, Matt Cavanaugh, is also a fireman as is his smoking hot brother, Brian. Brian was the Deputy Chief to Jo's father and is now acting Chief. After finally making her move on Brian and having it go down in flames she moves on. Now a year later she's burying her father and Brian is realizing the error of his ways. Can he prove to her that he's done sowing his oats and ready to be the man she deserves or did he lose his one chance at the one woman he wants?

Firemen, easy pick for me. The story flowed and I enjoyed the primary and secondary characters. Briggs made me want to strangle and slap certain characters just as much as the actual character doing it. It was refreshing to read a strong woman character who works with males and isn't the stereotypical bitch or butch. Jo is a tomboy that I think many women will be able to relate to.

They’ve know each other forever, his brother is her best friend. She’s always loved him and after a failed attempt a few years ago, can they try to get together?
Jo has always loved Brian he’s there for her especially today as they get ready to bury her dad, chief of their fire department. They all are in the department, Brian, Matt working with her father, and Jo working per diem floating from department to department filling in when needed. When her and Brian look to each other for comfort she thinks there’s no way he’s ready for a commitment now, he is a player after all, he’ll never settle down.
Brian was the Deputy Chief of station 23, with the passing of Jo’s dad he’s appointed Chief of station 23 now temporarily. He soon realizes that he’s ready for more with Jo but how can he convince her of that? He enlists his brother to help as well as his mom, what will it take to win her over and convince her his feelings are real?
Great story written by author Amy Briggs! It’s not just your regular love story, there are hot firemen and all kinds of things going on! 5 stars for this great book! Pick yours up today!!

The story line was great and flowed nicely. It had my attention from the beginning to the end. Jo had such a good heart but was trying to figure things out. Brian…oh …Brian, was so freaking HOT! He knew what he wanted and was going to fight for it. The sex scenes were oh so hot and steamy!

Joe had her dreams as a firefighter and wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps. After her father’s death, she went back to her father’s precinct. Joe has had feelings for the “new” chief for years and finally gives in to Brian. Jo realizes that her feelings are so strong that she is not sure if she can work with Brian while in a relationship with him. Until on a call he acts like an arse and then she knows it cannot happen. So she puts an end to it.

Brian has always been a ladies’ man until he finally comes to realize he has very strong feelings for Jo. After Jo breaks it off with Brian will he be able to get her back into his arms?

This is the first book of The Brotherhood of District 23 series. I look forward to reading more by Amy Briggs.

This debut novel for Amy is off the charts hot!
This is a must read about Jo and Brian who work together as Firefighters. It has always been Jo's dream to follow in her dads foot steps. Brian is the new chief since Jo's father died unexpectedly. Then there is Matt, Brian's brother and Jo's best friend. They have known each other for years. They are family at firehouse 23. They all look out for each other. The problem is Jo has had a crush on Brian for years. One mistake a year before has them at a crossroads. Problem is Brian wants Jo too and their chemistry is off the charts! Can they move on from the past? Can they work together and date each other? Can they build a life together or will fire get in the way? I love the depth of the story and the characters. I was sucked in right away! I was rooting for them, laughing at them, and getting an adrenalin rush as they saved lives. I can't wait to see where this story goes! Great job Amy! I would love to be Fired Up with Brian myself!

This book is hands down one of the best books I've read this year. Absolutely AMAZING! Amy Briggs has definitely come up with a killer series and I can't wait for more!!

Fired Up follows Brian and Jo. Both of whom have grown up in and around the fire department. Brian has taken over the role of fire chief when Jo's father dies. Brian and Jo have each had secret feelings for one another for years but neither of them is ready to act on it.

What happens when Brian decides enough is enough? He wants Jo back at his house, the house she grew up in, and back in his life, bed, and home. Can Jo find reasons to resist what she has felt nearly her whole life? How much will outside factors play a role in whether or not these two finally get it together and be happy?

Amazing book!! I highly recommend it! Can't wait for the next book!! :)

Brian and Jo's story was a fairy-tale HEA. When you have a crush practically your whole life you hope that one day it will all come true. Sometimes something sudden wakes you up and gives you a knock to the head, Brian realized Jo is his person, the one he will spend the rest of his life with. Who doesn't love a sexy firefighter. Sexy as sin, alpha hothead, very protective and full of love. With the sudden death of Jo's dad, they were pulled together in a way that should have always been. Jo a strong bad ass woman, has loved Brian for as long as she can remember. They came together with a passion that was unleashed from years of not admitting, hiding behind what should be and stubbornness. This was a great HEA and I totally connected with this story. The Author did a great job pulling feelings together while explaining a story that has many twists and turns. A must read.

DNF at about 15%.

This epic romance begins after a funeral, when Brian (the dead guy’s second in command) sees Jo (the dead guy’s daughter) at the bar after the funeral. He knows she’s drunk, so he jealously drags her out of the bar, away from the (male) friends she’d been talking to, drives her to his house, berates her for opening her own car door instead of waiting, gives her another beer, interrupts her by aggressively kissing her as she tells him this isn’t a good idea, takes her upstairs, tells her he can’t be gentle, and then has sex with her.

After this beginning, I can’t take the other 85%.

I’m fine with stories about rape and I’m fine with stories about romance, but romanticizing ambiguous consent and borderline rape is not cool.

Fantastic read! This was a solid debut from Amy Briggs. Fired Up was so well written, and the captivating backstory pulls you right in.

The characters were well developed, and you'll find yourself falling in love with Jo and Brian from page one. Their story is super hot and full of emotion. When I say hot, I mean the chemistry between Jo and Brian, it smolders and burns white hot.

Fired Up is a fast paced friends to lovers story with plenty of angst and suspense that keeps you wanting more. I was completely immersed in their world, falling in love and rooting for them as this couple faced their challenges.

Amy Briggs is an author to keep your eye on. Well done!

Meh

This book was ok. I didn't feel any connection with Brian and Jo. I can't quite put my finger on what was missing. I usually enjoy firefighter books. This book just went on and on and on......

Being honest, after about a third of the way in, I skimmed through the rest. I don't feel like I missed anything by doing so. Maybe it was the alternate POV. I found it to be a little disruptive. It interrupted the flow of the book.

Jo and Brian just seemed to be missing some kind of chemistry. It was written, and they kept having sex, and other feelings for each other, but it was just words.

Definitely read this one and judge for yourself.

“I’ve always been in love with love.” I really enjoyed this story. It ended up leaning a bit more towards romance than the thriller side of things than I thought it would, but that in no way lessens its enjoy-ability.

The only thing I would say I had any sort of noticeable issue with was that the big “twist”, per se, wasn’t unforeseen. Now, I don’t know if that was intentional or not, but if not, certain aspects weren’t as big of a surprise as they could have been. But the book was still really good, so this wasn’t a huge deal.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and recommend it, especially if you like firefighter books. I’m excited to check out the next in this series!

Brian is a possessive alpha male, who is unsure of his feelings for Josephine and his feelings on having a relationship. Once he figures it out he is 100% about being with her.

Josephine has been burned before and isn’t so keen on jumping in to anything. She fights against what she truly wants.

The story was rapid paced between Brian and Josephine, and I loved that it didn’t slow down once.

I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. Some scenes were predictable, while others seemed choppy and out of place in terms of the storyline. The sex scenes were pretty steamy and hot (wink wink...get it? Hot? Cuz it's called Fired Up?), yet I didn't feel invested in the characters enough for me to love it. I'd probably still give the next book in the series a chance. 3 stars

3,5 stars for this firemen story all around station 23. First stop with Brian and Josephine. Jo is one of a few fire women in the city. Her father being former chief of station 23, she would live to finally be back home. But the new chief Brian isn't only the older brother of her bestest friend Matt but also her crush for ages and the almost stepson of her father.... And he is a womanizer forever. Can he really have changed? And will he save her from an unssen danger lurking around her? I enjoyed the story. It was a bit of s rumply start but then the story telling gripped me. The plot was not extremely surprising. In the middle I got emotionally s little list but then I found myself drawn back I to the story.

What a great hot read

Why has this book and the other two in this series been sat on my kindle and I haven't read them until now?!! I don't know!! But this book kept me turning the pages, I have literally read this in one sitting because I could not put it down! The connection between Brian and Jo is hot and has been simmering for a long time. After they both, along with the family and friends around them experience the loss of her Father they become closer but Jo is fighting it. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Fired Up

Wow what a book! This is a first for me with this author. I loved the story line and the details are just amazing. This book is very disruptive and I loved that. Losing her dad and having to deal with an ex, a man she has been in love with forever and her best friend, Jo had her hands full. I loved her and Matt's friendship and how she could tell him anything. Brian has wanted Jo for so long but wasn't ready. These two together are super hot. I am hoping that Matt gets his happily ever after too! An amazing book!

This was very disappointing for me.

I didn't like the writing style and the language very basic and lots of repetition. The storyline was thin and the element of tension introduced to excite was underwhelming.

I found the main characters quite annoying and couldn't engage and the relationship didn't flow to me.

However the sex was pretty hot but I'm afraid I won't be tempted to read any more by Amy Briggs

This is a 5 star storyline. Great characters. Believable story. I enjoyed the relationships/dynamics.
For flow, I give 3 stars. Was distracting to me that a character spoke in past & present tense in same sentence. This happened throughout the book. This didn't cause me to quit reading or to not enjoy the overall story. Because I have read newer books by Author Amy Briggs, I know her writing improves and I'll continue to read her works! I'm looking now to see if Matt gets his story!

3.5 stars. Contains spoilers.

I liked the firefighter/ emt info but some of it read too much like a textbook, I didn’t really care for the Gaelic word thrown in (he’s born and raised in FL, but it was like the author pretends he’s really Irish to ass flavor to the book, didn’t work), and the ending was pretty’s abrupt. I would’ve like to see the coworkers reaction and what happened to the douche bag ex boyfriend.

OMG Firehouse Love

This book was so good with the storyline and the spice. Loved it! Jo’s father passed away and she wants to go back to the firehouse her dad ran but she is in love with the new chief. Brian grew up with Jo and his younger brother Matt who is Jo’s best friend. Jo recently ended her relationship with Danny who comes back and tries to kill her in a house fire but she is saved by Brain who finally confesses his love for her.

I'm in love

I stumbled upon the free download of this series and I'm thrilled I did. As the wife of a paramedic and the mother of a FF/EMT, I absolutely love this book. Amy's first hand knowledge of the fire service makes this book wonderful. I'm a sucker for a good love story and Jo and Brian do not disappoint. Can wait to start the next one
