Blueberry Mouse is convinced that a blueberry pie is the best place to live, especially when she runs out of berries and begins to nibble the floor and walls.
Blueberry Mouse is a great children's book that not only has fun pictures, but also consists of rhyming within the text. This story is about a mouse that lived in a blueberry pie so that she could stay dry and always have something to eat. The mouse ate so much blueberries that she was blue and everything in her house was also made out of blueberries. The mouse ended up eating everything in her house like her blanket, sheets, bed clothes, and even her floor and her windows. She even ate her walls, which made her roof crust fall down. When her roof fell rain was getting inside so she invited her friends over to help eat the rest of her blueberry house. At the end of the story the mouse decides she wants to make a much better house in a blueberry cake. This is a cute fun story that children will enjoy. This is great book for kindergartners and 1st grade because it has simple rhyming words that the students can listen for. After hearing the story students can write down the rhyming words they were able to recognize in the book and also add more rhyming words that they are familiar with. The teacher can make a chart on the board and call on students to list the rhyming words that are in the story and see if they can name some more rhyming words. Once the students feel comfortable about rhyming they can try to create two sentences of their choice that consists of rhyming words. This is a great activity because it involves learning about rhyming and it allows the students to be creative when writing their own sentences.
Excerpt: "Out in Blueberry Cove/ On the island of Skye/ Lived the Blueberry Mouse,/ In her blueberry pie."
This is a cute story about a mouse that lives in a blueberry pie. She loves blueberries so much that she ends up eating her home and inviting her friends over to help her eat it too. At the end she is homeless and her friends ask her where she will live now and she decides to make a blueberry cake for her to live in.
The text rhymes and is fun, but the illustrations are what really make it. The mice are adorable and have long eyelashes and the blueberries look absolutely delicious.
This could be used in a storytime about fruit.

This book was SO CUTE! It made me squeak and awww and all that. I wish I could give it 4 1/2 stars, because that's what it deserves. But it wasn't perfect (a few of the lines were a little awkward tempo-wise...), so I can't give it 5 stars. But I thought about it. The story is so sweet (pun intended) and quite humorous in a predictable way that the kiddos just ate up (pun, again, completely intended). The laughed and predicted and thought the ending was eye-rollingly silly. I started out our unit on blueberries with this one, and it ended up being both a good and a bad thing. Good, because it got them totally interested in blueberries. But bad because they really, REALLY wanted a blueberry pie. And we didn't have enough blueberries to make that AND do the science portion, so I think they were a little sad. Maybe next time!
An adorable story about a little mouse who lives in a blueberry pie. Rhyming text, the cutest illustrations, I can't wait to use it for Blueberry story time!
Blueberry Mouse was charming. I found this character to be creative, resourceful, and industrious. Instead of focusing on a glass half empty mindset, she was definitely a glass half full kind of mouse. :)
Cute story of a mouse who doesn't like cheese...but she LOVES blueberries. She makes her home in a blueberry pie. It's a wonderful home...because there's always food nearby. But if she keeps nibbling on her home, where will she find shelter?
