A REALLY GOOD, REALISTIC BOOK
This is one of the best books I have read in a long while. I admit to liking the cops and robbers/murderers genre, but this was refreshing because it was so realistic. The hero did not handle everything himself, we read about real team work among the detectives and a hero who has to take to his bed due to overwork. His marriage is also sound and that makes a change too. The scenario is fairly realistic, there are some crazy groups out there and while their beliefs made me grind my teeth in frustration, they are not held up to be demons and shown as relatively normal people with a different way of following God. I was disappointed there was not another in the series I could go and buy immediately, but I hope there is one in the pipeline.

Its been a while since I have read any kind of crime novel but Patrick Heffernan did an amazing job with this story. He had me pulled in from the beginning and I could not put this book down once I started. There were a few time I did get a little confused on whose point of view it was in but over all Patrick has the ability to give you details that make it easy to paint a picture within our head of what is going on. Having never read one of his books before I can say that I will be looking into more reads by him in the future.

This book was a well-written crime novel that I enjoyed very much. This is the first book I have read of the author and am excited to read more books by the author. It has been a while since I have read a good crime story and I couldn’t put the story down after starting it. Patrick Heffernan has a way with his words that lets you inside the head of the main character Mike Lowe and has the unique ability of providing enough details in his story to provide you with a picture within your head throughout the story.

The story follows the newly promoted sergeant of the homicide police department Mike Lowe who has been put in charge with solving the murder of group of people. While at the seen there was another explosion that caused the death of a group of police officers. This puts added pressure on Lowe to solve the murder and sees one of the prime suspects being a fundamentalist church.

The story has many twists and leaves you guessing with who caused the massive deconstruction. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more form the author. Anyone that’s looking for a good book to read, this book is for them.

Wicked Suspense!

Love the religious part of an otherwise suspense filled action novel. Religion added layers of why people do what they do. Frightening. I love it, recommend it to thriller readers and can't wait for book 2!

An amazing start to hopefully a new mystery series.

I am totally hooked!! It was AMAZING!!! What A Ride!!! I was totally and completely enraptured by this book. I am such a hardcore, mystery loving, freak of a girl who is very picky on who she follows in the mystery book world. Not many authors can nail a mystery just right and keep you guessing until the very end like this author did, and I LOVE it when I have absolutely no clue who dunnit!

I could not put it down and seriously contemplated quitting my job so I could stay home and finish it!! LOL

I am seriously hoping this author continues to write more about Mike Lowe and the complex murder mysteries he finds himself investigating. The cast of characters run deep and there’s always the thought of who can he truly trust....

This book took me on so many twists and turns, filled with excitement and suspense that I find myself begging for more. As much as I wanted to get to the end and find the villain, I regret that I got there so soon. I just want to keep reading more.

Every time I thought I had it figured out who the killer was, I was shown I was completely wrong and had to start back at square one. So much happened that I didn’t expect that it filled me with so many emotions ranging from horror at the scenes of the crimes to sadness to the devastating turns you didn’t see coming. I laughed. I cried. I chewed off fingernails. It was GREAT!!!

I was accidentally, I think, introduced to this new-to-me author and I’m eternally grateful for the one who supplied the link to this book. I’m excited to find out what else this author writes and am now a fan for life.

Pieces was such a captivating suspense story. Patrick Heffernan kept me on my toes throughout this nail biting thriller. Every time I thought I knew who the mastermind was, someone else fit the part.
Mike Lowe gets promoted to sergeant and begins working for the homicide division at the police department. And when a group of people begin killing people, chopping them up and leaving their pieces in vacant houses and torching them, the city seems to become a scary place.
Most of the books I read are dark, I cannot seem to get enough of the dark thrillers. However, this book took dark thriller to a whole new level. When I dreamt that I was in this particular story, I knew that Patrick was one of my new favorite authors.

I've read all of Patrick Hefferman's books, and was really looking forward to this one coming out.
This is a relatively fast paced, nail biting thriller that starts off good and becomes great.

It's dark, solid, plot wise, and well written. There are a lot of characters who have a voice in this, so the reader really has to be on the ball, and keep up, during some of the scenes. Having said that the array of characters bring richness to the story.

A very enjoyable read. 5*****
