When I got this novel, I was eager to see the spread! It is wonderfully finished with super legend sort of novel that give me a considered understanding it and have a plunge in the sea of diversions with bunches of history stories and reality that I never got a period to peruse in my school days.
Plot: The story spins around three truly "unfortunate" folks Nishant, Suraj and Sachin who accidently connect ever, to be right 3500-4000 B.C after disastrously falling into a period entry where they experience a progression of close passing enterprises. They at long last find that they aren't that unfortunate as they thought. They connect a period, when two traditions in particular the Angrasya and the Brihadratha lines were in a bleeding fight with each other. They see the situation of the princess of the Angrasya tradition; rajkumari Samriddhi and they make plans to join her and her new conceived child with her significant other; rajkumar Brihatkarman, who happens to be the ruler of the Brihadratha line. To put it plainly, I adore the plot where I grin and laugh at every page when the three companions responds on most noticeably awful circumstances they are confronting.
Composing style: Talking about the written work style of the novel, I will say it is straightforward and exceptionally amazing. In the event that this is your first novel, then you will never confront any issue. It is loaded with simple vocabulary and extremely easy to comprehend lines that help you to experience the story, regardless of the possibility that you are going at metro.
Best part: They additionally discover that to come back to their home they require a gadget named samay locator and in a journey to discover it, they find different impossible to miss weapons, for example, a sword which can toss numerous lightning jolts, a bo-staff whose size and quality can be increased according to needs, the blackhole balls which can start a 20 seconds blackhole and the most essential out of all, the "Hasth-yantra" which once worn on the hand gives the hero; Nishant, different superhuman capacities and not to disregard the different elixirs that surface their direction.
Furthermore I too cherish the beast scene that make me snicker like hellfire.
Author's work::Apart from a couple of observable altering slip-ups, essayist's work is astounding. His portrayal all through the novel is infectious and fascinating. I adored his written work style. Each part from the book has an associating begin, that makes this novel a page turner.
Uncommon reference: I cherish the way he utilizes the significance of "vada pav" and companionship scenes that make you grin to keep the lamp and amusing to peruse!
This is a historical and Sci-fi sort of book. I like the time travel concept. I always like such type of stories. The story revolves around 3 friends -Nishant, Suraj and Sachin, They used to work tirelessly to earn their living , seeing their dreams getting broken in front of their eyes. One day while returning home, they saw a clay tablet which read "DONOT CROSS AFTER THIS POINT". Then as soon as they crossed that line, they thought some magic has happened. No one was ready to believe .They started investigating the place, to find where they have landed. There was no signal on the mobile phone. Angrasya Dynasty ruled by Samrat Amgrasya.3500-4000 B.C
What will they do when they will get superpowers? Will be able to return into present ?
What I Dislike - The book didnt justify the category . The writing could have been much better.
The blurb and the cover got me hooked. The story was so much addicting that once you’re in, you won’t stop until you reached that last line. The title of the book is apt.I would rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I have been wanting to lay my hands on an Indian sci-fic book and when I went through “History Revisited” by Nishant Joshi, there were lot of expectations built up for such a young author. After reading the book, the first questions popping my mind were: What’s the difference between sci-fiction novel and a historical fiction? How do you do justice to the sci-fiction genre? If anything I would rather put this book in the historical fiction category more than in sci-fic. Why is the author made to believe that this goes in the sci-fic genre is beyond my understanding. Maybe because of the time travel concept? I really don’t know. However, reading the book, what I know is that this book is an ambitious project taken up by Nishant Joshi and I would really applaud his courage to venture into a genre that has hardly any takers in India. More about the book……. The cover of the book seems to be a take from some graphics of a foreign storyline and hardly does justice to the Indian-ness of this story. It seems to be contradictory to the image the story conveys. Time Travel has always been a favourite concept of humans and Indian Philosophy abounds with the notions of time and space. This popular concept is the basis of the whole story. So while the experiences of Nishant, Suraj and Sachin are nicely described, the depth of experience that the sci-fic demands is missing mainly because the protagonists are still of the present era rather than of the past. This allows the beginner reader (for sci-fic genre reading) easier. Ahh! Mumbai and it’s fixation with vada-pav will never go off. So we do have reminders dotted in the whole novel about the vadapav obsession.:-) So what’s the verdict? Pick it and enjoy it and though you might find the gaps into the present day thinking in the past time journey, take it at your stride and get going ahead with the reading. Also, do encourage Nishant to write more sci-fic…. we need more authors in this genre and my hopes are that Nishant will do justice in more books that shall come!
Nishant Joshi’s ‘History Revisited’ is a story about three friends – Nishant, Suraj and Sachin – who are construction workers earning ninety rupees a day. While returning from work one day they see a clay tablet lying in the middle of the road. Curiosity gets the better of them and they are transported in time when they start inspecting the object. They find themselves trapped in the thirty-fifth century B.C. where they undergo a series of near death adventures. The trio is caught in the crossfire between two warring dynasties – the Angrasyas and the Brihadrathas. They attest the plight of the princess of the Angrasya dynasty – Rajkumari Samriddhi and resolve to unite her and her new born baby with her husband, Rajkumar Brihatkarman, the prince of the Brihadratha dynasty. The protagonists learn that in order to return to the present time they need a device called samay locator and in a quest to find it they discover fantastic weapons such as a sword that can throw multiple lightning bolts, a bow-staff that can be augmented as needed, the magical balls that can initiate a 20-second black hole and the most important of all, the hasth-yantra which once worn on the hand gives Nishant a number of superhuman abilities. They also stumble upon various elixirs that help them find their way back home. The final stand is between the three friends and a demonic sorcerer Ajay who wields his black magic to annihilate an entire dynasty. The writing style is average and so is the story. There are just too many loopholes in the narration. For me, the story didn’t work out but I’m sure some readers will find it interesting and worth a read. All said, it can't be denied that the story demanded to be told. - See more at: http://ministryofmagik.blogspot.in
Note: The book was sent by the author in exchange of an honest review. Thank you Nishant.
My Thoughts: The book was quick and light read. I appreciate the authors’ effort and congratulate him on his debut novel. I was teleported to my childhood days reading the book as if reading Vikram Aur Betaal stories.
Likes: The camaraderie between the three friends. Implanting the concept of Time travelling, haven’t seen many Indian authors exploring that in their debut novel. The humor interspersed along the story line which did not fail to tickle the funny bone.
The genre though claims to be a sci-fic, the story fits into fantasy.
Things that would have been better: The cover art reminded me of Sorcerer’s Apprentice, a video game that I used to play and correlates with the story however it did not appeal to me, maybe because of the title did not go with the cover. The synopsis would have been written better. Expect for Nishant no other character stood out and the language was pretty plain. There were few grammatical errors which makes you cringe.
The book is quite decent for a beginner and a seasoned reader may find it too simple. I am sure that the author will hone his skills and present us a better delightful writing next time.
I started this book as assuming me being a child. As I started reading, I was getting surprises (as I said, I changed myself to a child) and it was purely magical for me. Blurb of the book could have been better as it failed to provoke me to choose this book as most of the books with good blurb makes a reader curious about its ending. As it was purely science-fiction, the scenes were beautifully written. But it was boring at some point and specially his fighting scene was extended much which was not at all necessary. Editing of the book is upto the mark and the cover is also magical and appropriate.
I Like- 1) Title of the book. 2) Plot. 3) Fictious scenes. 4) Happy for the 3 guys, as their luck changed and they become millionaire.
I dislike- 1) Fighting scene 2) Blurb 3) Ending could be better.
I thanks to Enigmatic team for providing me a review copy and congratulate the author for his debut novel. And yes, it's good that you have given your name to one of the characters. *smiles*
Reading the book, I felt as if the author had some story-idea in his mind and he just vomited out his thoughts on paper. Not one character was properly thought out or introduced. The three friends were construction workers earning ninety rupees a day, ate only vada-pavs but had android cellphones. Read full review at Natasha'z Words
The book was a surprise package, containing a story worth narrating to any kid. It had flaws and also worthy things. The sci-fi factor which the author wanted to bring, came up as the vital element and the whole book was standing erect only because of these images which he produced through his words. The book was a perfect break from romances and thrillers.
