3.5 Superman STARS

This is my first read by this author and from the synopsis cover I was all in. The story was a solid read yet felt a bit like the same old college sports book with slight adjustments.

Cassie Rivers transfers to her hockey star brother’s college and falls for his teammate/best friend Brantley Cage. The obstacles in this book are centered around some ridiculous bro code the two guys have between one another.

”Bro Code #1...Never ever have sex with your friend's sister.

Bro Code #2...Never kiss your friend's sister.

Bro Code #3...Don't even consider code one or two.”

description

This code between the two guys keeps Cassie and Brantley falling into a close friendship after a very steamy introduction. Brantley burned by love once keeps clear of Cassie until some cleverly written text messages and getting to see how lonely she is and decides to befriend her. Cassie and Brantley establish a solid friendship and thereafter with the choking sexual tension they agree on a friend’s with a benefits situation.

description

”Sleeping with him had been a choice. And one I’ll never regret. But falling in love…Falling in love had been inevitable.”

There is one scene which I didn’t like and I almost dnf the book wherein

This was a decent read with more or less likable characters and plot.

”I was a storm and he was my sun. And when we came together we formed one hell of rainbow.”

Warning: This is more of a rant than a review but it’s my very honest gut response:

I feel like I should label this review “How to Ruin a Perfectly Good Romance.” Because really this is a classic case of an engaging, budding romantic story ruined by an unnecessary OW scene that makes the hero look like a total douche. Until this point, the story was doing a great job of building the relationship between Cassie and Brantley, but after becoming each other’s best friends, confiding in each other, crying on each other’s shoulders, and falling asleep together, the reader along with the h is treated to the H in a near hook up with his fuck buddy! That’s a story that’s almost impossible to salvage in my book. I feel like I wasted my afternoon getting invested in what could have been a meaningful relationship only to discover that the H isn’t worth the h’s time or the readers. And even more insulting, the h not only immediately forgives him, she kisses him right after! Gross! So now we have a douchbag H and a weak, spineless h. And the cherry on top of this hot mess—the H blames the h for making him horny and uses the lamest excuse of 'trying to get the h out of his system' reasoning. To which the h says it’s all okay because he has needs and just requests there’s one girl in particular he doesn’t fuck. WTF!!! And despite the fact that they clearly have feelings for each other, they continue this silly “friendship” front all because of her brother (who's kind of a selfish dick too). Are we living in the 21st century and when did this type of sexist dialogue between a man and a woman become romantic???

Overall assessment: Very disappointing.

Bro Code #1...Never ever have sex with your friend's sister.

Bro Code #2...Never kiss your friend's sister.

Bro Code #3...Don't even consider code one or two.

Brantley Cage is prepared to break all of these rules for his best friends little sister. When Cassie Rivers shows up he tries to stay far away, not wanting to be around the her form of temptation. Being his best friends little sister puts her on the Do Not Fuck list right away, no matter how much he wants her. Cassie doesn't care about the rules, though, and she wants Brantley just as much as he wants her. She won't let him avoid her for long, and she'll make sure she's a temptation he can't resist.

All I had to do was get to the second paragraph of this blurb to want to read it. I saw "the sister of his best friend" and that was all she wrote, I jumped on this book. I'm a sucker for a good best-friends-little-sister story and they're kind of hard to come by. At least for me, because I'm kind of picky about them. But Jersey Girl exceeding my expectations of this genre and I loved how the story was written. It was also my first book by this author but she now has a new fan.

I really enjoyed getting to know these characters, and seeing them become friends. That's what made the book extra special, the fact that they had this slow moving relationship and became friends before anything else. And what kept it intriguing was that even while they were friends you could practically feel the chemistry sizzling between then, just waiting to be let loose. And boy was it hot when that heat finally got released!

I'm so happy I was offered a review copy of this books and had the chance to read it, because now I have even more books to add to my growing pile of books to be read. Which for me, is like adding Ones to a strippers g-string (p.s it's a good thing). This book is recommended to anyone that likes a good NA story, and anyone that loves best-friends-little-sister stories as much as me.

5 BRANTLEY'S JERSEY GIRL STARS!!

When I love an author, I make no secret about it. When it comes to Rhonda I can't even find the words to express how much I adore her. I feel lucky to have found her at the beginning of what I'm sure will be a very long and successful writing career. I get to be there for the whole journey and cheer her on all the way.

This was hands down a BEST BOOK OF 2016 for me! It was a total 5 star read that I will recommend to anyone who loves a great "friends to lovers", "older brother's bestfriend" or "sports" romance. It falls under all of those categories and even a few more. I have read several other Rhonda James books and loved them but this is without a doubt her best book yet!! She has a way of keeping her male leads (and MY book boyfriends) so strong and sexy but somehow also taps into their vulnerability. I can't remember my exact "cry count" on this book but I think it was 2 or 3. That is not uncommon with her books though because she's not afraid to go there with a story and take it to a place that has you sobbing but she has never failed to bring me back out of the dark either. She always delivers the Happily Ever After that we all crave.

I can't praise my hockey star Brantley and not also praise Cassie. She is quirky and strong and I kinda want to be her and not just because she gets to be Brantley's Jersey Girl. She is so much more than that. She is selfless and supportive and talented and hilarious.

The story starts at the beginning of Brantley's senior year and Cassie's Sophmore year. Cassie has just transferred to the same college as Brantley to be closer to her brother, Scotty, in hopes that they can reconnect before he finishes college and goes on to play professional hockey. From Brantley and Cassie's first encounter to their last in this book I was consumed. When Brantley's loyalty to Scotty (Bro-Code) keeps him from getting involved in a relationship with Cass they decide to give friendship a try. I always say I love "moments" in books and I especially love the big first kiss moments and the build up to more. Rhonda had me eating out of the palm of her hand with this book. With every page I was more and more excited and full of anticipation and when the moment finally came I was overwhelmed in the best of ways. Brantley and Cassie's connection develops over time and their unwavering support of each other and affection to one another was so powerful. When Cassie's plans to reconnect with Scotty don't work out quite like she planned Brantley is there to pick her up after every fall. And conversely when Brantley is hurting and working through his heartache she was there to hold and console him. ** SIDE NOTE: His vulnerability is so sexy! Sorry, back on track now. There isn't much more I can say without giving the whole story away. Do yourself a favor and read this book! I haven't even touched the surface to how incredible it is. The secondary characters were fantastic and I can't wait to see more books with them in them. There are several more hockey hotties that really deserve their own book. I personally love Davis and I have a feeling Scotty is going to be on a full on redemption mission into my heart sooner than I think. I can't leave out Roni, Cassie's roommate who definitely earned her own book.

You’ve heard what they say about forbidden fruit… One taste is more addictive than one of them is ready to admit. Will he keep skating away from love? Or has this player finally found his Jersey Girl?

Review:
Jersey Girl my teaser

“She came into my life like a sudden downpour. Showering me with love and hope when I’d least expected it. But exactly when I’d needed her most.”

5 Brantley Cage stars!!! If I could give this book a million stars I would!

Brantley Cage is the star hockey player and is known for being a ladies man, if you will. But he has a strict rule when it comes to the ladies, NO HOOKING UP WITH HIS BEST FRIEND’S SISTER. That rule is perfect right?? Yeah well that all changes the minute his best friend Scott’s sister shows up on campus. Cassie is new on campus and ready to start over, leaving her high school sweetheart in the dust too. The minute she meets Brantley she knows she’s ready to start over with him, but his strict bro-code is keeping him from her grasp! Brantley and Cassie strike up a friendship, that eventually leave them confused and sexually frustrated. When they give into temptation, there’s no turning back, even with a “friends with benefits” relationship. Can these two keep their relationship private?? Will they both admit to how they feel for each other?? Or will Brantley ruin it all because of his bro-code??

“His body sags against mine as he releases a guttural groan. ‘That’s the problem, Dimples. I’m scared I may need you too much.’”

Let me start by saying, this review, will do this book no justice!!! There’s so much more to this book than I can even say. It’s full of heart, emotion and heat!! You will fall in love with Brantley as you read and your heart will break for Cassie as she yearns for the one guy she can’t have!! I’m a huge fan of Rhonda James, that’s no secret at all. She give everything into each of her book and you can feel it come out of her characters and stories. I love each and everyone of her books, but I will say that this book is my absolute favorite of hers to date!!

Oh my goodness, I love sports romances! I was super excited for this one and it did not disappoint. It’s an entertaining story—with good guys and not-so-good guys and some electrifyingly steamy moments.

I loved Brantley, pretty fiercely. I adored how protective he was without ever being restrictive or controlling. He was a refreshing change from the other men in Cassie’s life. Cassie took me a little longer to warm up to. I felt like she tried too hard sometimes—then I eventually realized that she probably reminded me a bit too much of myself at that age, and it hit a little too close to home. She wanted Brantley so desperately, she was willing to take him any way she could get him, no matter the cost to her own heart.

While I loved their overall dynamic—and their sizzling physical chemistry—I sometimes had trouble connecting to the relationship between Cassie and Brantley. I felt like there should have been more emotional angst, given their circumstances. I sometimes felt like I was more frustrated by their situation than they were.

And then, it completely turned around for me. It's like their characters evolved in this gradual but wonderful way, and all the things I had been struggling with sort of came together. It’s almost like they grew up—and started dealing with all of the issues that had been frustrating me. They learned, and they fell in love, and there was my heart, right along for the ride with them.

The conflict and its resolution completely sucked me in, and Ms. James did an incredible job of working through the finer points of the relationships that drove me crazy for the first half of the book. At some point I found myself glued to my Kindle, anxious to see how their story would play out. And it was pretty awesome. Incredibly satisfying.

And now I'm left feeling a little hungry for the next book in the series. ~ Shelly, 4 stars

4 Superman-Stars!

Do you know that feeling when you like a book very much but you also know that you shouldn't for a bunch of reasons? That's what was happening with me while reading Jersey Girl.

Jersey Girl is the story of Brantley Cage, a college hockey star on his way into the NHL, and Cassie Rivers, music major and the sister of Brantley's best friend. Brantley got burnt four years ago and has sworn off love. One night stands, that's what he goes for. And we should not forget that she, as sister of his best friend, is off limits.

Brantley and Cassie form a unique friendship. They open up to each other and one becomes the life line of the other. The attraction between these two is explosive, but Brantley's trying to do the right thing. He keeps reminding Cassie that they can only be friends. Until they're more...

This story is typical n/a and that's not a bad thing. We have:

- ridiculous reasons why two people so obviously in love can't be together
- mean girls (some slut shaming)
- a reformed man whore who's falling for THE ONE
- shitty things both have to deal with
- a first meeting that was so over the top that I wanted to dnf at that point (I'm glad I didn't)
- the grand gesture at the end (*swooon*)
- too much sex ( I skimmed through that parts in the end)
- OW drama

Why 4 stars? That's easy. It's a well written story with a lot of heart. If you like n/a this is a book for you. If you don't like n/a or if it's not your favorite genre, you should stay away.

Slick's review:

After reading an ARC of Rhonda James' Fire and Ice the second book in her Sticks & Hearts series, I immediately went and 1-clicked the book I missed Jersey Girl and I'm so glad I did. This new adult series centers around the hockey team of Great Lakes University in Ann Arbor, Michigan and while they could be filled with a lot of new adult angst, the two I've read are filled with young people trying to find their way in the world, of youthful relationships turning to more, of friendship and camaraderie, and of making mistakes and learning from them. I enjoyed the 2nd books so much that I knew I had to get the full story of Cassie and Brantley and I'm so glad I did. I loved this sweet story of two people both of whom needed a friend forging that friendship and eventually turning it into more, there were ups and downs and some mistakes, but the common thread throughout this book is these two people needed one another in their lives. The friendship was truly special which made the physical even more special, and while they faced some problems because her big brother was his best friend, they both were willing to do whatever it takes to be together.

After leaving an abusive relationship Cassie Rivers has relocated to GLU in hopes of reconnecting with her big brother, Scott, and moving on with her life. After totally embarrassing herself with one of his roommates Brantley Cage she is determined to just try and enjoy college life, but she's struggling in her classes, she's struggling emotionally, and she's struggling making friends so when Brantley offers his friendship and nothing more she jumps at it and then life gets very interesting for them both.

I really loved this book because while they were attracted to one another and Brantley was determined to keep his hands off Cassie because of the whole "bro code" they really got to know one another well. It was fascinating watching them both open up about everything going on in their lives, and sharing secrets about all kinds of things and I loved the close intimacy between them even before they got sexual with one another. It was so easy to see they were both falling for one another and while Cassie would love nothing more than a full out relationship with Brantley; he'd been burned before and was very, very gun shy.

Each moment they spent together you could feel their bond growing stronger and it really was inevitable that they eventually got physical, while I do think Cassie sold herself short offering Brantley a no strings arrangement, the fact that he was never with anyone other than her should have been a good clue to both of them that there was more to them than friends with benefits. They both made some mistakes, but I do feel like they both learned something from them and to be honest these two were made for one another. Brantley was her hero, her champion, and her confidant. Cassie was the balm that soothed his soul, his light and his best friend. Seriously, I really do sigh when I think about the special bond these two had together.

There was so much I loved about Jersey Girl and while Rhonda James is a new to me author, she is definitely one I am keeping my eye on.

I was so excited to be given an ARC of Jersey Girl. I have given an honest review. Just finished and WOW!! Score!!! Goal!! Whatever Hockey players do. I will have a book hangover for a few days . I was so excited I know I was reading so fast just sucking up all the words like fine chocolate. Amazing story Rhonda!! I am on the floor in a puddle. So so good ladies! The story is about Cassie (a musician)and a hunky hockey player named Brantley. They first meet when her Brother Scotty lets her stay in his team mate/best friends room for a few days while he is away at a kids hockey camp. Cassie has just transferred schools because of issues with her now ex and to be closer to her brother so she can re bond with him. Cassie is awakened the next morning by Brantley in a very sexy way. He had came home early and slipped into his bed not knowing she was there. They share a kiss and he's thanking his team mate (in his head)for letting this girl in his room until he asks her how she knows Scotty. Then it's hands off for him because he can't break the bro code*
As the story unfolds Scotty has no time for Cassie and being alone in a new school and failing a class has made Cassie crestfallen and lonely. That is until Brantley finds her crying in a bathroom frat party and comforts her. They start talking and you go on a ride through the book watching them become close friends until the moment they just can't help themselves and need more. This is a sweet, sexy, romantic tale that sucks you in and at times your heart will feel like a hand is closing around it. Plenty of laugh out loud moments and mushy moments that turn you into a puddle. And Caveman moments that have fists flying you are clapping because you wanted to do it yourself.
The ending alone is enough to buy this book and re read over and over. Watching Cassie and B fall in love was one of the sweetest stories I've read. Rhonda James never disappoints but this book is in a class of its own. Absolutely cannot wait for the rest in this series.

I LOVED this book from cover to cover what a beautiful, amazing and fantastic story of true best friends to lovers.. I'm not going to lie I had to read it slowly because I didn't want to be done with it.. I loved the fact that two wrongs formed a right.. I loved the entire build up of their relationship, how without even realizing it everything was changing and for the better. This is one of the books that will definitely stay with because it made me feel stuff that I can relate to.. It really hit close to home and there were times where I had to analyze what was happening.. I loved how the author incorporated hockey and music together.. how she gave us a play by play of the games or the music process and how impeccable she was with both subjects.. and that ending I was just seriously blown away!!! so yes 5 stars to this amazing book!! *ARC provided in exchange of an honest review*

*****5 Blast the Bro Code Stars*****

What is a “Bro Code”?

“BRO CODE # 1….NEVER EVER HAVE SEX WITH YOUR FRIEND’S SISTER
BRO CODE #2….NEVER KISS YOUR FRIEND’S SISTER
BRO CODE #3….DON’T EVEN CONSIDER CODE ONE OR TWO.”

This is my first Rhonda James novel and although I don’t generally choose to read college NA, I really enjoyed this one! Brantley and Cassie meet when she arrives at the same college as her older brother to begin the new term. She is trying to put her past abusive relationship to her HS sweetheart behind her. Her brother, a star goalie hockey player, shares an apartment with 3 other guys. Brantley, a star defenseman for the hockey team, comes back unexpectedly from out of town and finds a sexy, sleeping Cassie in his bed. Cassie is dazzled by the gorgeous, hunky Brantley and just as they are “getting serious under the sheets” she tells him that she is his roommate’s sister. ALARM ALARM ALARM! Bro Code enforced! See above! With their intense sexual attraction, Brantley finds it extremely difficult to live up to that code. So they start hanging out as “friends”. Then, after a bit, “friends with benefits” that they hide from her brother. Can their hearts remain friends? How long can they hide their blossoming relationship? What are “puck bunnies”? What happens with Cassie’s abusive ex? Does Scott find out? You will have to read this wonderful story of young love to get these answers. The ending was so spot on for this story and as this is the first book of a series, I am looking forward to reading more of Cassie and Brantley and seeing which of the other guys get their love story!

I LOVE a good 'Brothers best friend' story.
This hits all the right buttons. The writing is flawless, it just flows along at the right pace the whole way through. I was sucked in right from the start, from Cassie stopping with her brother and waking to find herself in Brantley's bed WITH him. Bless his reaction. Men are so dense when it comes to realising they are in love! They feel shocked that it could happen to them.
I felt like I was in the room with Brantley and Cassie. Their love was reaching out of the pages of the story. I didn't want the story to end.
Cassie's brother, Scott, is so annoying with his 'bro code'.
Interfering with his sisters love life, tut tut.
Cassie swaps schools to get away from her ex and reconnect with her idol of a big brother, Scott. Scott is happy she's there but changes nothing in his life to include Cassie. She is lonely but doesn't confront him about it. His house mates treat her better than her brother. She instantly likes Brantley, but as soon as he realises she is Scott's sister he backs off. Bro code an' all that.
A tutoring session and friendship between Cassie and Brantley comes to mean everything to them both. Will Scott ruin everything when he finds out?
This is the first of Rhonda's books that I've read. I will definitely be looking at her other releases.
Just a beautiful story.

WOW!!! I freaking loved this book. Jersey Girl by Rhonda James is my favorite kind of love story. You know the story, girl falls in love with brothers best friend. Yeah that one. They are my absolute favorite to read and Jersey Girl was done right!

Jersey Girl centers around Brantly Cage AKA Superman the hot sexy hockey player and Cassie Rivers AKA Dimples the sweet and sassy musician. When they first meet Brantly has no clue who Cassie is and things start off hot but quickly turn cold when he learns she's his best friend kid sister. Cassie, determined to get Brantly to notice her and not as the off limits girl his bro code demands. She forms an unlikely friendship with Brantly, one that pushes their boundaries and makes them question is it all worth it in the end.

Jersey Girl was well written with swoon worthy moments that had me smiling from ear to ear. If you’re in the mood for a sweet and sexy read than this is the book for you. Lots of hot sexy scenes and just as many sweet moments between Brantly and Cassie. He may just be my new book boyfriend. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. I was given this ARC for my honest opinion.

I was so looking forward to the next book in the series, however, the author doesn't have a link up for it so I can't add it to my TBR. Odds are I'll probably end up missing it.

I‘ve been in a serious book funk these last couple of weeks or months even and I was afraid that I outgrew n/a romance.

Turns out I didn’t. I just read some real bad books recently.

Anyways,

Jersey Girl is a great book in the n/a genre!

It has everything your looking for.

A great hero? Check!
A relatable heroine? Check!
Manwhore-turned-one-woman-guy? Check!
Some drama? Check!
Swoonworthy gesture at the end? Check!

It is certainly not the best college book out there but Jersey Girl is nice and sweet and also well written, which warrants a 4 star rating!

Jersey Girl by Rhonda James is a best friend's sister romance with heart, so much heart. Cassie Rivers heading into Sophomore year of College she transferred to GLU not only for a change but to be closer to her brother, Scotty Rivers star goalie for hockey team and drafted by the Red Wings, in his final year of school. A music student, Cassie's just looking to fit in and make new friends and really find her way in life, needing to get away from a ex who won't take no for an answer. When she wakes up wrapped around a hot as H-E-Double Hockey Sticks man who she can't take her eyes off. Brantley Cage thinks he's dreaming when a beautiful blonde is wrapped around him in his bed, only it's not a dream and it's soon to be a nightmare when he finds out she's his roommates sister and he can't touch her. Bro-Code states you will not touch a friend's sister but Brantley can't get Cassie out of his mind, those eyes, that body, he's hooked. Brantley is juggling so much, school, hockey, work and friends can he just be friends with a girl when he's known for being a player? Why does what's forbidden always taste sweeter?

Sweet baby this book was everything I needed and more. I laughed, I cried (a few times) and I smiled a lot while reading Jersey Girl. These two characters took me on an emotional ride through realizing that love can strike when you least expect it. Love will blindside you and take your breath away, like a hard check into the boards. Oh, the "feels" this book gave me. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Cassie is adorable, emotional, looking to reconnect with her brother before he leaves for good for the NHL. I really felt for her just looking for just a piece of the closeness she once shared with her brother, hold on to the hope he'll respect and acknowledge her talent at some point. Brantley is a swoon worthy hero on skates battling his own personal demons to overcome his fear of relationships all the while he can't let go of his friendship with Cassie and wants more but respects her so much he doesn't want to hurt her or his relationship with his best friend, Scotty.

This book was amazing, epic and I adore and worship the ground it walks on. Rhonda James has created a masterpiece with Jersey Girl and I can't wait to see what comes next with these characters. No pressure but Davis's story is going to kill me I just know it. If you've enjoyed Elle Kennedy's Off Campus series or Sarina Bowen's Ivy League series you'll fall in love with Jersey Girl too! 5 off the charts Stars for Jersey Girl by Rhonda James.

Theoretically I should have liked this. I’m bummed that I just didn’t feel it. I usually like stories with similar premises. In this case, I didn’t like the main female character, Cassie.

First, she seemed to cry in every chapter - so much so that at one point I was beginning to suspect she was pregnant but she hadn’t had sex yet.

Secondly, and this may sound harsh but, I didn’t respect her. She wasn’t strong or independent. She seemed to use guys as a crutch. When she was lonely at the new school, she didn’t try to make any friends. Women need girl friends! When her sole female friend/roommate was out, she just went to her brother’s house and befriended them. Any friends from classes were also guys.

And speaking of her brother, I really hated him. His head really was so far up Ashley’s ass. Ditching her to eat at a restaurant by herself when they had plans was horrible. Missing her recital for his girlfriend’s parents anniversary party? Are you kidding? Then inviting her ex-boyfriend to Thanksgiving when he KNEW she broke up with him!!!!! I’m glad he eventually ended things with Ashley but I think he deserved a better talking to than the one he got.

Anyway, I just didn’t really feel this one. :(

description

Jersey Girl by Rhonda James was an ice melting 5 star read.
This is Brantley and Cassie’s story told in alternating POV.

Cassie changes colleges to be closer to her brother Scott and try to rekindle what she feels they have lost. Brantley is Scott's best friend.
The way these two meet for the first time was hot and hilarious at the same time.

Without warning, she utters three words that would stop even the strongest of men in their tracks. “He’s my Brother.”

These two have quite the struggle, Cassie want’s more but Brantley refuses to break the “Bro Code” he promised to Scott. Cassie however, has other plans, and plays by his rules just to be close to him. Brantley has been hurt before and refuses to give his heart to anyone again. Will Cassie be able to break down his walls? What will happen when her brother discovers the truth?

I was a storm and he was my sun. And when we came together we formed one hell of a rainbow.

There is so much more to this great story that you must read to enjoy. I read “Jersey Girl” in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down. Rhonda really pulls you in with her writing. I laughed, I cried and I was angry at times but I have to say that we do get to see a HEA. I totally fell for Brantley (love the bad boy with tattoos). I can’t help but wonder if we might see some more from this group of friends. I really enjoyed the bada$$ hockey players and their protectiveness when it came to the ones they love. I have had the pleasure of reading all of Rhonda’s books and I think this may be my most favorite so far. I highly recommend you 1-click and get started today.
Thank you Rhonda for another great read.

I think Jersey Girl had a ton of promise. There were so many open opportunities that were presented to take the story right but instead went left.

By now, we all know and love a good "best friend's sibling/forbidden love" romantic story.
This is basically the entire premise of Jersey Girl.

Brantley Cage makes quite a first impression on Cassie Rivers when he finds her asleep in his bed. Well, they both make quite a first impression on each other.

Cassie is a newly transferred to GL, in hopes to be closer to her brother Scotty, Cage's best friend and roommate.

What Cassie & Brantley were not expecting was the instant feels for each other. But Brantley refuses to act on them. He would be breaking "bro-code #1" if he even acted on any of his feelings for his best friend's kid sister.

So while both the H is trying to fight his feelings, the h is all about putting herself out there to get his attention.

So - here are my issues with this story:
1. Cassie was a likeable character when she was in friends mode with Brantley & talked about her love for music. Cassie was completely intolerable whenever it came down to the way her brother treats her (as if she doesn't exist) and her desperation at times over Brantley could make you a tad/lot nauseated.

2.

3. Brantley was king of playing mind games with Cassie. Yes, he stresses throughout the whole book that he cannot give her more than what she wants and that he could not act on his feelings bc of his friendship with Scott. Yet, he is all lovey-dovey, kissy, hand holding "Superman" when it came to him and Cassie. But, he was quick to agree to be just "fuck buddies/friends with benefits" because you know, boys have to get laid and all.

4. Scotty was albeit one of the worst brothers I've read about in a while. He pretty much bailed on his sister every single time to spend time with his girlfriend. He was never around, which is what pushed Cassie and Brantley together. Yet, he has the audacity How Cassie forgave him w/o giving him some kind of shit is beyond me.

The list goes on & on for me, but I'll stop here.
While this story could've been kick-ass, it left a really bad taste in my mouth.

But, as I always say, just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean you won't be one of the top-raters.

I'm scrolling though facebook one day and I immediately stop when I see this cover!!! This cover is amazing! Hello sexy Amber eyes! Then I read the blurb and I got so excited and knew I had to read it! A hockey bad boy and a Music student that happens to be B's best friend's little sister! I love a good friends to lovers story and that's exactly what I got with this book!

Brantley Cage is a sexy college hockey player who is afraid of love. He is kind of your typical sports manwhore hero, but he had a soft side that I really loved reading about. He was so cute and a undercover nerd! I love an undercover sexy nerd!

Miss Cassie Rivers is a go getter! When she wants something she WANTS it and I LOVED that about her! Forget all of B's rules, she knew she wanted him and she didn't stop until that's exactly what she got! She was strong, sassy and full of life and loved it! A strong heroine is always refreshing!

I will say that I was so excited when I found out Cassie's brother was the goalie, but then I realized I didn't like him so much, but thank goodness by the end of the book I was once again a Scotty fan! I know it's probably not in the works, but I would love his book! Not gonna lie, it's mainly because I FLOVE goalies!

Rhonda made 2 main things the focus in this book that I love; Hockey and Music! Pair that with an H&h that I adored, friends to lovers, and side characters that I'm very interested to get to know more of! I seen that Davis will be next and I'm so excited!

This is the first book I've read by Mrs. Rhonda James and it definitely won't be the last!!!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and let me tell you I can't wait to see if there is another....
Cassie is supposed to be off limits for Brantley because of the "bro code".

Cassie transferred schools to connect with Scotty, her brother, and roommate/bestie of Brantley. Her brother rarely has time for her between hockey, school and his girlfriend. Cassie begins to feel lonely but she won't say anything to let him know how she feels. Enter Brantley... He finds Cassie crying at a party and things start to change for him. After a misunderstanding he decides to offer her friendship, to tutor her, and become her guitar student. As the relationship between them grows, it becomes clear that they have feelings for each other but the code is still there. Until one weekend changes it all. Cassie and Brantley are so hot together. Both have their own insecurities when it comes to admitting what's going on between them. Now that the lines have been crossed and their relationship is spiraling into something more, all hell breaks loose. Words are said, fist are thrown, friendships broken, hearts shattered. But can LOVE conquer all? Brantley finally realizes that she's it for him (with the help from those around him) and sets out to prove it to Cassie. With Scotty's blessing, her favorite singer, and his ice skates, he does just that.

This book had me cheering for them from beginning. I couldn't put it down. Now I've never written a review before, and I hope I have given you enough that you will buy and read this book because it is definitely worth it. like I first said I can't wait to see if there is more to come...

Five Fantastic Stars! Cassie transfers to a new school to get a fresh start and to get away from her abusive ex-boyfriend. Her brother is on the school's hockey team and she ends up meeting the team's star defenseman Brantley. Brantley is known for being a ladies man with one rule never hook up with your best friend's sister. When he finds out that Cassie is his best friend's sister they try to be just friends. The problem then becomes that they can not ignore their attraction towards one another. What will happen when Brantley breaks his rule, can they keep their relationship a secret? Rhonda writes a story that draws you in from the first page and kept me turning the pages wanting to know what happened next. I loved the characters and felt the emotions they were experiencing as they wanted to be together but knew his rule was stopping them. I have read books by Rhonda before and each book gets better and better! I highly recommend it!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

3 "SUPERMAN" STARS.

Ok! This is going to be short and sweet.

Jersey Girl is about Brantley - a loyal hocky player, who is destined to be someone in the hocky world. And who thinks that in order to achieve his goal he needs to stay away from love.

Cassie - she is the little sister of Brantley's best friend. She is a musician, in need of a redo.

"She may be little, but she's a pistol."

Brantley & Cassie met when she transferred to GLU in search of something or someone, but also to be closer to his brother from whom she has grown apart.

I enjoyed the built up of their relationship. The fact that they enjoy their friendship before become lovers was something gladly to witness. Both were sweet and funny and together these two were perfect.

Jersey Girl was a happy reading. A slow peaced romance, with just a teeny tiny bit of drama. My problem was with all the "Bro Code", why? Simply, because I didn't think that Scotty deserved to be respected that way. He was not a good brother till the end. Overreacting was not cool, Scotty.

Overall, I did enjoyed it. Anyone looking for a sweet reading would definitely enjoy this one.

Where to start... the beginning.

Rhonda James, amazing person that she is, gifted me this ebook after I won a signed paperback and told her I hadn't read anything by her before but was excited to!

Now, I am so glad she did! I couldn't put it down. At first I was intrigued but started to get an it disappointed with the direction the book seemed to take after Brantley and Cassie's first encounter. Been there, read that. But then everything changed!

Brantley was there for her when Scott wasn't. He refused to pursue her even when she pushed. He was so sweet and a great friend. Of course it turned into more, as expected, but it did so almost naturally. No drunken hookups or morning after regrets.

I got to know the characters and fall for them myself. Definitely a 5 star read!

Thank you Rhonda for gifting me this book! Now I'm on to the next one! Here I come Derek!!!

It has been a few months since a book has taken me away like this story. Rhonda James is a talented author and wrote an amazing story that had me hooked from the first page.

The characters had great depth/development and I felt like nothing was missing in their backstory. Rhonda paced the story in such a way you had all the information you needed and at just the right time. This book had me on an emotional roller coaster with anger, tears, laughs and just big smiles while reading. I would highly recommend this for anyone but especially those who love sports romances.

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars!
