I think Messiah Complex will go down as one of the best events in X-men history.
We have two great ones that come to mind, Age of Apocalypse and House of M.
But this new one has all the markings of a great story.
We have an amazing team in the first issue, where Angel is being used to the best of his abilities like the old days.
Writers really lose their way with Angel for some reason always.
We have a phenomenal two groups of villains.
The Purifiers killing humans just to get to one baby mutant is next level, it just made them the worst villains in X-men right now.
And Sinister and the Marauders really beat the X-men badly in the story leading up to this.
We are here, and I most definitely have enough time to finish this event before the end of 2025.

Considering how House of M ended, I’m not surprised this is the direction of tone we’re taking. But still, this was a shockingly a whole lot more dour and depressing than I was genuinely expecting it to be from the get-go.

It's been ages since I read a big comic event, so I don't know if I'll be able to finish this one or not. But I just finished House Of M, and Reddit said this was the next big event to read after it, so....I guess we'll see. I kinda want to find out what the big deal with Hope Summers is and what role she plays in the story.

3.5 stars. A strong start to one of the best X-Men crossover event stories of its era, with Marc Silvestri returning to the X-Men, which is an event in itself.

Read as a single issue on the Marvel Unlimited app. The collective review for the entire Messiah Complex storyline can be found on my review of X-Men: Messiah Complex.

I just read the big event before this, House of M, and was expecting something like that. I most say that House of M was best. In this the story feels tired and slow I couldn't feel the excitement that I felt in the previous one. I don't have the next chapter but don't feel the urgency of get it.

4.5 stars. the aftermath of M-Day following House of M is dark. Mutant kind is almost extinct, but the birth of new Mutants is still unwanted by many humans. the X-Men must solve this problem.
