Hi, I'm Liz Fielding, and I'm a best selling contemporary romance author with more than 15 million books in print and Katie Fforde wrote, when honouring me with the Romantic Novelists' Association's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 said - "Liz Fielding's books, with their warmth, humour and emotion, have charmed millions of readers. She is a true star of the romantic fiction genre..."
And now I've turned to a life of crime with my first cozy mystery. Murder Among the Roses, published on 18 April 2023 - of which Katie Fforde also said, "I was gripped from beginning to end..."
Reading is a big part of my life. I love witty, contemporary romances, not too much sex,, Women's fiction by the likes of Fiona Harper, Julie Cohen, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Crusie and Barbara O'Neal. And I love crime fiction that isn't too gory, or focussed on clue hunting, but is big on character.
My best loved series at the moment are the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths, The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch and the Libby Sarjeant Mysteries by Lesley Cookman. I've just read the first in the Georgina Drake crime series from Kate Hardy and looking forward to the next.

All the romance, all the feels. Lighthearted and uncomplicated, the story was fun to read. I loved Willow and Mike. Their easy way of communicating and the banter between them was comical. I enjoyed their journey of ups and downs and the thought processes they each had to work through. And who doesn't want a happy ending? This book is everything a romance novel should be. Thank you to Liz Fielding for a copy of this book, it is a cute story.
This is one of Liz Fielding's Maybridge stories. A cute place that could be any number of interesting country towns/villages in England. I read this backwards because it is set before the Bachelor's Baby in which a couple of people we meet in Runaway Bride appear.
This is a very straightforward case of two people in love who let other people and their own insecurities come between them. The crunch comes when they both jilt each other at the altar. Yes, I said both.
Not that either of them realise until they run into each other almost straight afterwards. Watching Mike and Willow rebuild their relationship is a sweet and emotional read. I enjoyed it thoroughly and couldn't put it down. (a continual refrain with Liz's books)
I'm now going to sort out the other Maybridge stories so I can find all the linked characters and find out what happens.
Willow and Mike can't decide who's more relieved when each jilts the other at the altar! Having got cold feet, they've now decided to pursue their dream jobs rather than marry....
But, accidentally bumping into Willow afterward, Mike knows they still love one another... and should be facing their problems rather than running from them. Somehow, Mike has to capture his runaway bride, convince her they're meant to be together -- and this time get her to the church!
