She's not what the doctor ordered, but she's just what he needs.
1000 years after Earth has been devastated by a viral plague, the few survivors turn to genetic engineering and advanced robotics to ensure the future of the human race. But not everyone is happy with artificial life living amongst humans, least of all Peyton Chase, a doctor with a harrowing past.
When he’s ‘gifted’ with a state-of-the-art companion that he can’t send back, Peyton is far from pleased. She’s sentient. She’s sexy. She’s everything he doesn’t want complicating his life. He nicknames her Hell. She nicknames him lots of unladylike things, at least in her mind. Because there are rules to a relationship like theirs. Master and Slave. She’s supposed to obey him in all things. But if that’s true, why can’t she stop meddling in his life?
Unfortunately, time is running out for Hell. Her own desperate past is about to catch up to her with deadly results.
This book is part one of a serial sci-fi romance series.

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
I have never really been a big sci-fan fan, so when I started reading this book I was not sure what to expect. With an open mind, I dove into a world where the earth has suffered greatly due to an outbreak of a virus. The virus information confused me and I'm not sure I could even describe it to anyone. In this new world, scientists are creating droids that are human-like and made for the purposes of pleasure and domestic work. Peyton receives a Doll that is different than the rest; she doesn't listen, gets on his nerves, and in general annoys him. I loved how Hell (the Doll's name, short for Helen)just kept getting in his space. I laughed at her antics at getting Peyton to pay attention to her. I loved how he tried so hard to keep her at arms length.
Though this is a short book, the first part in the story, it had a lot of development and the plot was well developed. Something goes wrong with Hell, and Peyton has to figure out what it is. Whatever it is, it leads him to some startling discoveries. I'm anxious to know what happens in part two.
This was the first science fiction romance novel that I have ever read so I was curious to see what I would think of it. This story had an undercurrent of tenseness to it. The feeling that something bad was going to happen that kept me on the edge of my seat. It gave the story an element of excitement to it that enhanced the story.
This is the story of Peyton Chase and Helen (nicknamed Hell). The human race was devastated by a virus that killed off much of the population. Scientists are trying to figure out a way to repopulate the earth and look to genetic engineering and advanced robotics as possible solutions. Peyton is grieving the loss of his wife and concerned family and friends gift him with a "companion", and his life is again turned upside down. But all is not as it seems as you will find out as you keep reading.
This is a very emotional, intensely suspenseful and SIZZLING story that I fully enjoyed. I was sucked right into the plight of the characters, and I was fully engaged right up until the end. Well-written! Complex plot! Hot and sexy! This is a great read for Sci-Fi romance fans!
This story starts off with a sex doll, but after a few surprises, it is discovered that the sex doll isn't actually a sex doll. She's much much more and just might be the next level in human evolution. The only problem though, is to find out what her creators did to her.
Sexy, spicy, sci-fi action! Honestly what more could you ask for? I adored Peyton, and his journey with Hell, testing him at every turn ♡ looks like I need to add more to my TBR list from this author!
Peyton’s Doll is a sexy and exciting start to a new series/serial by Felicity Kates. It’s a mixture of syfy/dystopian/post-apocalyptic/erotica/romance, all put together into one delightful package that will leave you wanting, and needing, more.
Peyton’s been living a solitary life ever since his beloved wife Sarah died. His family and friends have been worried about him, so they’ve banded together to purchase him a state-of-the-art “doll”- a companion that they hope will help bring him back to life.
To say he’s unhappy with this development would be putting it mildly. But when he discovers that Hell isn’t quite what he anticipated, nor is she exactly what his family and friends purchased for him, things start to get a little more interesting. Peyton’s expecting a docile, ask no questions, do as he says doll, and Hell turns out to be everything but. In the short amount of time they are together she’s managed to turn his world upside down, and life as he knows it begins to change.
I found Peyton and Hell to be such interesting and engaging characters. Peyton is so stoic, but with Hell slowly infiltrating his world he discovers it’s not as easy as it was to close himself off to his feelings. Even while pushing her away, he finds he still wants to help her, and protect her, from the evil she’s endured. Peyton is so appealing to me, I felt so sorry for him, as he is still completely heartbroken over the death of his wife. But with Hell it seems he’s finally, slowly, starting to open up again. They both seem to be exactly what the other needs at this point in time, and it’s going to be interesting to see how things develop and grow between them.
Felicity has such a way with words, she draws the reader into the worlds she creates. It was easy to lose myself in this story, to imagine I was there in that little space with Peyton and Hell. I’m really looking forward to the next piece in their story.
*I know serials aren't for everyone, but I hope you will give this one a chance. And if syfy isn't quite your thing either, well I hope you'll open your mind and step out of your comfort zone and give Peyton's Doll a go, I don't think you will be sorry.
***I was lucky enough to beta this book, and receive an arc, but with all Felicity's books I've purchased a copy of my own.
This was a fabulous start to a new series. In Peyton we find a man, a physician, who is bitter and disillusioned after being unable to save friends and family from a viscous virus, that wipes out almost the whole population. He is given a very advanced copy of a lifelike sex doll, which he doesn't want. He calls her Helen but shortens it to Hell because of how he feels about her. After a series if encounters he and Hell are bonded, although he is still not happy about it. Hell has memory loss and can't remember how she came to be sent to Peyton in the first place. It's discovered that she was tortured and parts of her memory wiped as well. I really liked Peyton and Hell as a couple and individually . They work well together, and you can almost feel the attraction and growing awareness that they have for each other. Peyton is a list tortured soul and Hell is list and confused, but together they will help each other survive. Felicity has written a well thought out world and her explanation of the world and how it came into being and the series of events that came prior to the story beginning is believable and plausible. I'm looking forward to finding out more about Hell before she was sent to Peyton , and finding out who tortured her and why. Also of course watching this unique love story unfold.
I was given an ARC copy of the story for an honest review.
Felicity Kates has come up with a unique spin on a futuristic world and companion sex doll. Her writing style is fluid and the stories she creates are different and not run of the mill. It's the first book in her New Earth Series so it is not a standalone book and sets up several elements to the world and story line. (Give me more! I REALLY can't wait to see where this goes!)
The world is ravaged by a virus, robots and droids are created to help restore the human population on earth. This story is futuristic dystopian-like with hot elements mixed in. Peyton is a strong character that has been devastated by the loss of his wife. Hell is a Doll, but she's different. Ms. Kates has infused human emotion into this character that you forget she's a Doll. The male population outnumber the female population which makes for the development of human like robots from The Factory. The Factory is shady. Join Peyton and Hell on an adventure of discovery behind The Factory’s corrupt ways and watch the relationship between human and robot bloom into something more – it will either save Peyton, restore the human race or destroy them all. It’s a fast read so I hope the next one comes out really soon! I did receive a copy for an honest review. 5 out of 5 stars.
I was given a copy exchange for my honest review. This was my first sci-fi kind a book. So I didn't really know what to expect, but this book grab me from the beginning where you meet Peyton a Doctor Who is struggling to get over the pass at this deadly virus that almost wiped out man kind.. When he lost his wife Sarah to the virus his brother-in-law decided he needed a little push to move forward and that folks is when we meet Hell. She's not you normal Doll and thank god she's not I love her teasing personality but what I also got off of her was pure fear about the factory can't figure out why she's not fully understanding but she knows there's fear and when you read you can feel the fear. And even though Peyton did not want a her at all he is protective of her. This was a great start to a good series and for me I can't wait for more!!!
I wasn't sure what I was getting when I saw this book available for 99 cents, but as soon as I put my eyes on it, I found myself drawn into a new world, a post apocalyptic existence you can almost see in front of you. Peyton is a complex man, a self-tortured soul in fear of moving on, while Hell is introduced as a robotic sex slave, constantly turned away from her master. But reading on, all isn't as it seems, and book one sets the mission up well for future installments. A cheap, quick read, Project Hell is a most enjoyable one, and if Felicity can keep the intrigue and sexual tension going, I know I'll be desperately waiting for each installment. All I can say is stop reading reviews, and just read the book Project Hell already!
I have to be up front, I'm not a huge fan of serialized book series'. So why five stars? Because I've been sucked into this story and there's no escape! From the get go, I sympathized with Peyton Chase's often humorous denial of his attraction to the "Doll" gifted to him by concerned family members. Poor guy. He really doesn't stand a chance, but he still tries. Meanwhile, Hell is trying to come to terms with who she is and why she has no memory, all while studiously attempting to seduce a reluctant Peyton.
Peyton's Doll provides a nice balance of humor, mystery, and tension. I look forward to the next installment.
I received this book for free for an honest review so here goes ....... I'm not a sci fi lover at all I tried reading this book twice and gave up The 3rd time(lucky) I really persevered with it and I'm glad I did as the sci fi wasn't so much but the sexual chemistry is amazing which made me want to read more,p. If you like sci fi defo the book to read with all the robots and humans but if you lover a good sex read this is amazing although there isn't very much of it it's really good can't wait for the next one now :)
I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. I hope everyone can read this book with an open mind. The sci-fan will enjoy this but a first time reader who hasn't read one before will still enjoy how the future can be with that open mind. A virus wipes out a lot of people only because The Factory doesn't send the proper help when needed. Felicity Kates has a way with pulling in her readers from the start. Cannot wait to see where this series goes.
Received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I do not normally enjoy sci-fi books but I totally fell in love with Peyton and his need to protect everyone in his life. This book is filled with Peyton's turmoil and desires at odds with each other then when face with a tough decision he does what is right not what is easy. There is great chemistry between Peyton and Helen. Can I just say I love Peyton's Nick name for Helen. I can not wait for the next book in the series.
A great start to this new series. I read it in almost one sitting, fell asleep with the iPad on my face... now I can say I drooled over Peyton's LOL
A short story that has the unique signature of Ms. Kates, building the base of the new world that will be the series. Quite an interesting premise and being a fan of the scifi genre, the concept picked my interest, add the mix or suspense, danger, intrigue, erotica and romance... I want more and can't wait for Part 2.
Peyton's Doll is the first book to what I predict is going to be a fabulous series! This is such a different idea-mixing science-fiction and romance. I can't wait to find out what/who "Hell" is and what Peyton has to do with her. I love Felicity's writing and subject matter. Her characters definitely pull me in! I can't wait til the second book comes out!
This was an ARC for an honest review! I have never read a SciFi before, so I had no idea what to expect! But it really pulled me and made me like it, a lot!! The story was so well written and had you pulling for the characters. It was really great!! I felt for Peyton and his Sarah. I felt for Peyton and Hell. It was a great story!! Thank you for sharing Felicity!!
If this would have been actual book length I would probably have given it 4-5 stars. The story line is very intriguing and very well written. The only problem is that it's part of a serial story and I'm not a huge fan of them. I'd much rather read the whole story all together in one book, or heck, a series of books! But these little parcels of story aggravate me.
A delicious start to a promising serial! Peyton's over-zealous relatives can't resist meddling in his life, and the result is surprising and sexy. With the signature sassy female lead, typical of this author, a story emerges that is fun, sexy, and poignant. I can't wait to see what happens next!
I HAVEN'T READ A GOOD SCI-FI STORY IN A LONG TIME AND THIS DEFINITELY WET MY APPETITE. THE IDEA OF A ROBOTIC COMPANION IS TABOO BUT IN THE FUTURE COULD BE SEEN AS A NECESSITY. CANT WAIT TO READ PART 2 TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS TO HELEN AND PEYTON.
Read part one mostly because I am trying to read something by each author for an upcoming signing. But I have to say. I enjoyed this and hell is truly great I may have to jump in to book two soon.
Great start to an interesting series and definitely a novel concept! Loved that Hell isn't what Peyton expected along with his reluctance to accept her. Looking forward to reading the next!
This is the first book I've read of Felicity Kates and was a fast read. It leaves you in a hangover... This type of book I don't normally read but once I got into it I couldn't put it down.
Project Hell - part1 by Felicity Kates is an interesting story but as the name states is only the first part of a larger story. As wonderful as the characters and story are there feels like some issues are mearly toched upon and not truly explored adding to the feeling that someone took a novel and sliced it up into sections. The writing and characters are well done. With an intriguing premis it's worth the read.
