Jyme Samson is all about family; he's been taking care of his since he was a teen. He believes Elle, his high school love, is the one for him; that is until she does the unthinkable and betrays him.
Jyme is not without his own faults, and we see them when he meets Cricket, an outsider who ends up on the reservation. Can two people who are so different be right for each other? This is a story of love, loss, and family.
I really enjoy when authors tell the same story from a different characters point of view, and this novella is no different. Phoenix Rayne has always written from Crickets point of view, and it was a breath of fresh air to see how Jyme was before he met her. You learn so much that was not seen in "Heels of Love".
What makes this story so relatable is the fact that Jyme gets burned by Elle and doesn't just stay at take it. He knows he wants to be something more than just who he is on the reservation. While he loves his family, he is not happy. We get to see his journey outside of the reservation.
While I would love to have learned more about Jyme and Crickets relationship thru his eyes, the glimpse we get turns out to be enough.
