As a child, Jyme Samson believed his family trait was a curse and he tried his best to cope with it. His high school sweetheart Elle was there for him every step of the way until betrayal sat foot on his doorstep and tore them apart, making him doubt everything he ever believed.
All he wanted was to leave the past behind. When he met Cricket Hooper, his desire to be everything she needed forced him to enclave into the real Jyme the man he’s always wanted to be.
Every story has two sides. In Heels of Love and Wounded Love, Cricket had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Jyme’s eyes. This is his story from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew she was the real meaning of his existence.

Make sure you read book one before you read this little gem. Oh wow. I so want my own Jyme. I've just sat and read this in one sitting this afternoon. This is Jymes story of what happened before he met Cricket. He also tells us of how he felt when he met her. This is a great story of the insight into Jymes head.
I'm so so looking forward to reading more about these characters. This author is a great story teller. Loved it:)
4 star review I really enjoyed reading from Jyme's POV. From his POV, I see Cricket differently. He is a real champ. From my review of book 1, I said some things about him that I take back, he isn't a stalker. After reading all that he's been through, I love him even more. I want to slap the Mc Stuffins out of his mother and that piece of work Elle. I'm glad he's finding some happiness and his friends are along for the ride. I think this book is a must read, its great to see where Jyme has and is coming from.
Fans of the Love To Loathe series will immediate recognize one thing upon reading: This is the life of Jyme Samson BC-Before Cricket. Well at least for the first 50% of the story…
If you’re like me, you almost instantly fell in love with Jyme. He was tall, gorgeous, and all man-in every sense of the word! He was a nurturer and a provider who did nothing but give, often to his own detriment. Jyme is the kind of man that you just want to wrap your arms around and never let go. He’s such a mama’s boy and the ultimate big brother, but he’s also a man not without faults. He takes on too much that has stifled his growth as an individual and all this culminates in his making drastic changes in his life which both endears him and alienates him from those who know and love him.
The story begins with Jyme living on the Reservation and taking care of business-both literally and handling his familial responsibilities. He’s a self-made man who chronicles his beginnings as a young boy chasing paper up to becoming the master fisherman and business owner that he is today. We also get an extended glimpse into his and Elle’s relationship and what ultimately drove the wedge between them. This is the first half of the story.
The second half of the story picks right up to where he meets Cricket for the first time when he helps push her car out of the mud hole. Everything is told from Jyme’s perspective which is such a refreshing contrast from what we read in the first story Heels of Love. I love how Jyme is so uninhibited and carefree while still maintaining that quiet shyness, almost naiveté about life in general-through no fault of his own because all he knows up to this point is life on the Reservation which is quite a contrast to the “outside world”.
I enjoyed Jyme’s point of view very much. I only wish that we got to see more of his and Cricket’s relationship in this story. That being said, I love forward to the conclusion of the series because I’m rooting so hard for Jyme and Cricket to finally getting the happiness they both deserve.
Jyme Samson is all about family; he's been taking care of his since he was a teen. He believes Elle, his high school love, is the one for him; that is until she does the unthinkable and betrays him.
Jyme is not without his own faults, and we see them when he meets Cricket, an outsider who ends up on the reservation. Can two people who are so different be right for each other? This is a story of love, loss, and family.
I really enjoy when authors tell the same story from a different characters point of view, and this novella is no different. Phoenix Rayne has always written from Crickets point of view, and it was a breath of fresh air to see how Jyme was before he met her. You learn so much that was not seen in "Heels of Love".
What makes this story so relatable is the fact that Jyme gets burned by Elle and doesn't just stay at take it. He knows he wants to be something more than just who he is on the reservation. While he loves his family, he is not happy. We get to see his journey outside of the reservation.
While I would love to have learned more about Jyme and Crickets relationship thru his eyes, the glimpse we get turns out to be enough.
Jyme was cursed and he knew it and so did everyone on the reservation. He had to take care of his family since the age of 12, since his father was a drunk and he couldn't take care of them. Elle is a very small woman and she couldn't handle him. When his mother and the elders of the reservation sent Elle to her grandparents to heal, she cheats on him. Jyme own's his own fishing company, likes to race things like boats, cars and bikes. Elle was Jyme's girlfriend of 9 years. Loon is Jyme's cousin. Kanoke is Jyme's cousin but he has no relation to Loon. Sheen is married with children and he is Jyme, Kanoke and Loon's friend. Cricket is Jyme's love interest. This is book is written in Jyme's point of view, you have to read the first book before this one. I loved this book Phoenix know's how to tell a good story. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
What a read. I was so excited to read this book from Jymes point of view, and it did not disappoint. It was nice knowing about the things going on in Jymes life, and how and why things fell apart with Elle. I also got a glimpse into his friends and family lives, which piqued my interest even more. I read this all in one sitting, and wanted more. I just love him and Cricket together, and I rather enjoyed things from his pov. Great job Phoenix, can't wait til the next installment.

In Heels of Love we met Jyme, now we get to hear his side of the story, something that we needed to hear in order to understand this gorgeous man.
Learning a little bit about his past shines a light into his broken yet beautiful soul. If you were not in love with Jyme in book one I can guarantee you will be after this.
This short Novella will have you wanting more of this series. I for once can't wait to continue with this incredible series.
Gifted by author in exchange for an honest review.
I waited a long time for this book and even though it was good to have some background information about Jyme's life before he met Cricket the book was just so short it left me wanting more. I was a big fan of the two other books of the series but this book just seemed to end rather abruptly. I'm really selfish because I loved Jyme and Cricket's story and I just felt like there is more to tell. All in all I am still a huge fan of this author and I look forward to reading her other work.
That was some interesting background on Jyme and his family and friends. It helped to fill in some of the gaps about his relationship with Elle. I never thought of a man's agony on being too well endowed. My heart just went out to Jyme. He is a man that desperately wants to be loved just like any average man . I just wished the book would have ended with he and Cricket sealing the deal.
Since this book was about Jyme and when he first met Cricket, it should've been the first book in the series. The book was very good. There were also parts where I laughed out loud.
