The Breed MC #1

Wolf's Heart

Rate this book
To take over a local pack Cajun werewolf Jace Jones must first take a mate… but she wants nothing to do with a big, bad biker who sometimes turns furry.

“You don’t have to do anything. I’m gonna take care of everything.” I mean it, too. While sinking my d*ck inside her tops my current wish list, I also intend to make this good for her. She’s had a sh*t deal in life, and I absolutely want to kiss her better. The way I see it, all she has to do is enjoy. I’ll do all the rest. I’m practically a Boy Scout and she can pin the medal to my goddamned chest later. First, I have my mate to kiss.
~ Jace Jones

To keep the peace between two rival wolf packs, Cajun werewolf Jace Jones agrees to become the alpha of The Breed pack and motorcycle club. There’s just one catch: he needs to mate the former alpha’s daughter and he’s damned certain she hasn’t chosen him. His new mate is sweet and sexy as sin, but she’s also been brutalized by the pack and the last thing she needs is one more wolf in her life. But before he can take his place as leader of the Breed, he’ll have to teach his woman her place… in the club, in his arms, and in his heart.

Werewolf bikers? Pass. Keelie Sue Berard has spent a lifetime trapped in the motorcycle club’s misogynistic world, first as the alpha’s daughter and then as a mate. She’s kept her mouth shut and her head down trying to survive, so she’ll do whatever it takes to walk away free to live her own life. But Jace terrifies her. He protects her. He owns her. And now he wants her…

Hot werewolves? Check. Bad boys in a motorcycle club? Check. Fun, spicy storyline? Kind of.
I liked the elements of the story and Jace was definitely hot, but Keelie Sue was a bit too helpless and the chemistry between the two wasn't really there. There were a couple good romantic scenes and the story is short so no boring parts, but I wanted more action, more romance, more bang! The narration didn't help, I thought the woman was too breathy and I didn't like her parts. Maybe book 2 will be better?

I liked Jace the man had more patience then anyone else until he got fed up when his woman just wouldn't see how beneficial he was he wasn't mean about being fed up he was just fed up, "I was nice. I tried dating. I fed her effing kittens, and I listened while she talked. Keelie Sue needs to get a few things straight, and I’m just the wolf to teach her."

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This was an awesome paranormal MC book. It combined two of my favorite things-the paranormal and hot alpha males. Throw in a little romance and this is the perfect start to a new series. Definitely a must read!

The last thing Keelie Sue Berard needs is one more wolf in her life, but to keep the peace between two rival packs, Jace Jones agrees to become the alpha of The Breed pack but that means mating the former alpha’s daughter in this riveting paranormal romance.

Keelie’s kept her mouth shut and her head down in order to survive but she’ll do whatever it takes to walk away free to live her own life and the reader can’t help but get caught up in this rocky relationship as Jace attempts to teach Keelie her place. The chemistry is certainly hot enough to catch anyone’s attention even these two stubborn characters but the relationship between Keelie and Jace is full of emotional turmoil that keeps putting up road blocks on both their sides and these strong compelling characters warrant readers paying attention as they navigate the scorching passion and the pitfalls of the pack politics which adds a lot of excitement to the story as the Alpha of The Breed have some bad plans for Jace and Keelie in this well written, fast paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement and passion.

I recommend that this series be read in order although you can read this book with doing so and enjoy the story because I did but it will be obvious that you missed you a few things along the way.

Jace is a dirty, dirty wolf!

Jace talks dirty and fights hard. He’ll tell you again and again that he is not a good man and makes no bones about it. But he makes a plan to rescue women being held hostage. He takes on half a dozen wolves to prevent a woman from being literally thrown to them. He’s willing to kill any pack member who keeps an unwilling mate. He takes on leadership of a pack and club not because he wants to, quite the contrary, but because it needs to happen, changes need to be made, and he’s going to make sure they get done. And he’s willing to kill for it.

I kinda got a crush on Jace. He’s not my type. He’s a dirty talking, dominating alpha with hair trigger fangs. But is he a good man? I kinda think he is. Don’t tell him I said so.

I loved how this story started right in on some good stuff, but there seemed to be some things that happened before we came along. I would have liked to read more of that history.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

It's an unexpected blend of sweet and nasty. Keelie Sue has been through some brutal experiences that no one should ever have to live through. They've left her scarred, physically and emotionally, and unwilling to trust anyone. Especially dominant alpha shifters like Jace. And Jace is a true Dominant in every sense of that word. It's his way or the highway, and his way is to look after those he's responsible for. I loved watching these two "grow up" for each other. Seeing Keelie learn to trust and Jace step into his responsibilities as Alpha was a pleasure. I understand why Keelie fought so hard against accepting a relationship with Jace, but there were times that it was just so frustrating that she continued to fight it. Jace isn't a romantic, and yet his every action screams how much she means to him. I am very interested now in this shifter MC and will be exploring the other books in the series.

Keelie knows she's no more than a bargaining chip to her father's entire MC club. Jace is sent in to do undercover work, but cannot ignore the scared wolf who tries to hide in the corners. Will Jace be able to prove he isn't like the other wolves in the club? When Jace is ready to make his move will Keelie back him up?

Definitely a warning issued for some triggers, because while they weren't necessarily described they are there. I liked the book and thought that the plot was good. I didn't really blame Keelie for her reactions to everything being how she was raised. You can't change over night. Jace proved time and again that he was different and I think he did the right thing by letting her make her own choices in the end. Good read!

Plenty of drama, suspense and a whole lot of steam. To become the alpha of The Breed pack and motorcycle club, Jace needs to mate with the former alpha’s daughter. Keelie just wants to be away from the pack and have her own life. The story had me hooked from beginning to end. Loved it!

I didn't really enjoy this book. Even though I read the whole story, I could have easily quit and have left it as a DNF fairly early on. One of the main issues I had was the author's take on werewolves/shifters.

Anne Marsh is a new author to me, but after having read Wolf's Heart, I will definitely be reading more books by her. Wolf's Heart tells the story of Jace Jones and Keelie Sue Berard. Jace is an alpha wolf shifter and the second in the Jones pack led by his brother, Cruz. He is currently undercover in the Breed pack gathering information for his brother and trying to decide whether he should leave the Jones pack and become the Alpha of the Breed pack (getting rid of the current Alpha, of course) or not. Keelie Sue Berard is an accountant and the daughter of Big Red, the current Alpha of the Breed pack. Keelie Sue has had a rough time growing up. Big Red even made her marry a wolf that he chose for her, when she was only 18 years old! Even though Jace and Keelie Sue are attracted to each other, Jace is much more willing to pursue a relationship than Keelie Sue is, as she does not trust Jace yet.

Wolf's Heart is a short novella packed full of possibilities. In this story, we have the hero and heroine, a villain (or two), an array of secondary characters with their own potential stories, action, violence, humour, spicy sex scenes and most importantly...love. However, imo, there were a couple of things missing. Firstly, there was a lot of time spent with the characters "talking in their heads to themselves" instead of engaging with other people and/or their environment. Secondly, while there was quite a bit of action in the book, an opportunity for a lot more action was missed by not having any real confrontations between the two different motorcycle clubs, the Jones and the Breed packs.

Overall, Wolf's Heart is a quick, enjoyable read that I would easily recommend to people. In fact, I'll be reading the next book in the series as I'm very interested to find out who the next book in the series is about, and to see what is going on in the lives of the people in both the Breed and the Jones pack.

Jace Jones is under cover with the Breed MC. He is a beta to his brother's pack but strong enough to run his own pack. the Breed MC have been up to some bad things and Jace has to figure out whether any action needs to be taken by his birth pack. The alpha of the Breed MC is excited to have such a powerful wolf as Jace around and wants to win him over to the Breed. He offers Jace the position as second and his daughter for Jace to mate.
Keelie Sue is the daughter to the Breed's alpha. She hates all thongs with the MC. Her father won't let her date or go away for college. He controls every aspect of her life and has no problems abusing her. He forced her to mate at 16 to a wolf of her father's choosing. Her mate died the night after their mating and some blame Keelie Sue. Now she is worried because Jace is showing interest in her. He dad summons her down to the club and told her to wear sexy clothes. When she arrives he makes the announcement that the wolf who mates his daughter and breeds her will be his second. With all the wolves after her, Jace blocks them off and captures her.
Jace has strong feelings for Keelie Sue. He is certain that she is his mate. The problem is that he either has to give into her her father's pack or kill her father to get her. Either way he will be stuck with the Breed pack.
This is a good story with a lot of action. The breed pack is very violent and abusive but Jace is above that. I felt bad with how Keelie Sue was trapped. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Keelie Sue is a wolf but one that wants to get out as her experiences have not been good with the Pack life and a dad who didnt treat her well. Well her dad is about to pick her a new mate and he is someone Keelie Sue can not stand as she sees him as the big bad wolf with no heart. Jace a wolf who left his own pact to try to get a pack of his own, but when he is told if he mates with the Alphas daughter that he will get an upgrade he doesnt stop until he gets what he wants. Jace and Keelie Sue never see what is about to hit both of them and how their happiness relies on them together.

What I enjoyed most about Wolf's Heart is watching how strong Keelie Sue is and that she never gives up trying to go for her dreams, but seeing her finally find out who Jace really is on the inside. Watching Jace slowly fall for her then watching him do the hardest thing but knowing he has to do right by Keelie Sue. Both Jace and Keelie Sue will have lots of hard times and times of learning each other but they do it in a way that just might make them last forever.

This book was fantastic, this book has Keelie Sue a wolf/woman trying to do what she can to get away from her fathers pack as she is treated badly but nothing gets her down for long, Jace a wolf that needs to Mate the Alpha's daughter to upgrade his position is something he isnt willing to let slide and he does his hardest to do so but then he really gets to know her and wants what is best for her, a hate to love story, If you like stories like this, then Wolf's Heart is a must!

DNF @ chapter 6.
I thought that this would be a quick and easy audio to listen to since it only had 11 chapters, and it was part of Audible Plus, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it. I don't mean to be rude but this felt like the longest 11 chapters, and I only got to 6.

I have a feeling there maybe was a good story in here somewhere, but the amount of talk the hero did about what he wanted sexually from the heroine was way too much to take—literally all 6 chapters had him talking about what he wanted to do to her, or thinking about what he wanted to do; it felt like every paragraph had to mention his sexual wants. The heroine wasn't too bad, I could understand her hesitation to trust any man considering the abuse she has had to endure through her life.

Overall, this just wasn't for me which shows considering I'm part of only a small amount of people who didn't see this as a 4 to 5 star read. If you like books with a whole lot of sex talk and very little story, this could be for you.

Side note: I'm a little confused why there is 2 guys on this cover version, but then again I didn't finish the book so maybe a second hero comes into the story? Idk.

One, not sure why there are two guys on the cover this is not MFM or MMF

Two, I did not put this in the BDSM or Biker-boys shelves b/c it never felt like it hit either of those elements even though it is touted as one.

Three, and honestly it never felt like a shifter story either. They talk about their "wolves" and that they can shift but they never do.

I get why Keelie Sue is timid but I just never really understood her character. There was no connection for me. Same with Jace, and maybe that is b/c I started with this one and missed out on the one before with his brothers (I'm assuming)

The narration was ok, I like the male narrator, not so sure about the female, I was not really a fan of her accent but to be fair to her, I generally don't like any narrator trying to do a Southern Louisiana accent.

Over all I think I need to steer clear of this author, I've tried a few of her books from various series and the blurb always catches me but the story is never what I want it to be from the blurb. I am not the right reader for this author.

Jace Jones goes undercover in the Breed werewolves MC to obtain information on them for drug, gun and human trafficking. The only issue with his mission is the alpha and the club president daughter, Keelie Sue Berard, the accountant for her father's business. Big Red is cruel, dangerous and destructive in every form. He uses his Keelie as a bargaining chip, abuses and passes her around the club when he was angry. The story was entertaining and kept me on edge with the plot twist and turns. Jace was a true alpha with respect and understanding of Keelie's situation which I loved. At times, Keelie attitude was overbearing considering Jace was trying very hard to assist her. I have read the Blue Moon Brides series and it was outstanding. Overall, this a good book and I'm looking forward to read the next one.

It was great to read a shifter book that was more gritty than your usual ones. Jace is undercover trying to work out how to bring down Breed MC who is ruled by a ruthless Alpha. Jace doesn't expect the feeling he finds himself having for The Alpha Big Reds daughter Keelie so now he has to try and balance his next move to take over the pack and make Keelie his. It was great how there was really really mean characters like you would expect in this type of environment as well as Jace having a soft side and how you really felt how beaten down Keelie was. There were some areas in the book I would have liked have gone into more depth but still a great read and I look forward to reading more in this series where hopefully the characters have even more depth and we learn more of the Breed MC pack.

*I voluntarily read a review copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*

This was one of those books that left me feeling really conflicted as to whether or not I liked it.

The beginning pulled me in quickly but personally, I found that there was too much narrative. I wanted more dialogue between the two MCs. The chemistry between the two MCs was disappointing - I was left wanting more.

This wasn't a hearts and flowers kind of book - if your looking for that then you won't find it in this book.

Maybe it's just me but I found this one difficult to get into and at times dry and frustrating.

Sadly, this story wasn't to my taste but please don't let my review deter you from giving this book a go!

Got from Hidden Gems ARC Club for an honest review.

First time reading from the author.

Wow! Start me off in a steamy hot sauna of thoughts going on between Jace and Keelie. As I keep reading hot erotica, with some light spankings and tied to the bed. The pages are on fire now, and will need some cold water to put it out.
I don’t like Keelie’s dad, I would like to throw him under a bus. I thought the story was well written. It had a nice steady pace to keep me reading along. I wanted to find out what would happen next with the characters, so I had to keep reading. It was such torture to read a good hot erotica biker story. Smiles. Jace and Keelie were likable characters and had great chemistry. Hope to read more from the author.

Thank you for letting me read your story.

I read this book as part of an arc program. I loved this book, I thought Jace was a good guy who wants to do good things, but he is in a hard situation with the Breed pack and Big Red as an alpha. Jace has to decide if he is going to stay with his pack or join the Breed and try to become alpha and claim Keelie Sue, the alpha's daughter, as his mate. Keelie Sue hates living in the Breed pack and under her father's control. Big Red is abusive toward her and wants to force her to accept a mate he chooses. Jace wants her for himself and she is not really happy about that. but Jace vows to protect her. This was a fast paced book that had a lot of heat between Jace and Keelie Sue. This was a good read and I will be looking for more of this series.

This is book one in the super sexy Breed MC series and it features Keelie Sue Berard and Jace Jones. First of all this is a shifter MC story. There are no hearts and flowers here. There are no words of undying love. It's primal and urgent. Jace kind of takes what he wants as Keelie catches up. Jace always had a soft spot for her. I didn't like Keelie's hard attitude. The story would have been great had Keelie softened towards him at some point.

This wasn't a bad story but some MC romance books tend to be a little more rough around the edges than my typical preference. There may not have been great professions of love but it was definitely SEXY!

Wonderful shifter story! Keelie Sue's father is the cruel Alpha of her pack in the Louisiana Bayou. She has been so disrespected and abused by him and the pack, that she struggles to survive until she has the opportunity to run far away. Jace is the Cajun werewolf in her pack and the one that will help her find her dream. But Jace is a dominant male that commands rather than asks, taking what he wants. Keelie Sue is fed up with males ordering her around and she stands up to Jace and talks back. Obviously, they both have a lot to learn in the cooperation department. Great entertainment with thrilling action. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.

Enjoyable and gritty book about shifter motorcycle clubs. I liked the character development, especially that of Jace. I thought his outlook on many things grew with his understanding of himself and his mate, Keelie Sue. I liked the changes he wanted to make to the club. I thought the things he wanted different were positive changes and that he had the club in mind much more than the current president (and Keelie Sue's father) had ever considered having. I didn't like how he had treated his daughter in the past, either. But I did like how she was strong and true to herself in the story.

Listen up — if you’re picking this up hoping for a romance vibe, move along! Yes, there’s a “love” moment eventually, but by the time the word gets dropped, I was honestly wondering what I missed. There is zero emotional buildup… just a whole lot of smut.

It’s short (thankfully), chaotic, and weirdly addictive. This is a wolf-shifter MC club book with some dark moments and a surprising bit of humour. And honestly? That combo — wolves, bikers, smut, and ridiculousness — is probably why I enjoyed it.

Do I know why it worked for me? Nope. Not even a little. On paper it shouldn’t work at all… but somehow it did.

Wolf's Heart is intense, bad boy and good girl paranormal romance. The story center's around a biker gang that needs some new leadership and that is where Jace comes in. Kellie Sue is the daughter of the pack's leader and has suffered some rough times. That is where Jace comes in, he can't sit by and watch anymore. Kellie Sue has to learn to trust her instinct and Jace. Jace also has some learning to do on his own. Wolf's Heart is fast paced good read enjoy. Let me know what you think of Wolf's Heart.

Although it took a chapter or two, I was drawn into the story and kept interested. I thought the two main characters were well written. A little more background would have been nice but not necessary to get caught up in these two and their love story. I would not mind hearing more of their story and the way Jace plans to overhaul the pack into something to be proud of. So maybe there is more of the story and I will find it. If you are looking for a fun, quick read and if you are looking for a summer read with some spice and two hot werewolves then I can recommend this one.

Jace wants Keelie Sue to be his mate. She is the pack master's daughter that has been treated with contempt and her father married her off to a pack mate when she was sixteen. He mysteriously died after their marriage. Her father is still trying to obtain a mate for her and she just wants out of the club, but cannot get too far away without being drug back and beaten. Jace wants to claim her as well as the pack so he can get the pack to be mostly legit. Good shifter romance story, okay MC story. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Jace joins a new pack to keep tabs on the alpha. The alpha's daughter, Keelie Sue, is beaten and bruised and looking for a way out. When a mating ball gets out of control, a new alpha takes over and Keelie Sue gets a choice to stay or leave. There is a happily ever after at the end.
