Emily Janes wants to move on with her life after her brother’s sudden death. She returns to work, hoping to regain some normalcy. When Emily accepts a grant on behalf of her employer, she meets a powerful, sexy man with a dark façade in place. As she gains insight into her benefactor, she finds herself wanting to get closer to the man behind the mask.
Patrick Matheson’s feelings for Emily intrigue him. He finds himself reaching out to her, personal and business. Success in the boardroom is nothing new to him, but the pain of a failed relationship with his father torments him. When he’s around Emily, his doubts quiet and he can be himself.
Someone else wants Emily for his own. Nothing will stop him from getting her, whether she wants him or not. For the right price, everything they have could disappear forever.
A. Gorman is an author who writes whatever the characters in her head dictate. Becoming an author was never in her plans, yet she finds immense joy in transforming the stories she conceives in her mind into tangible works for others to devour.
I really like the book and the story line. And will definitely be reading book two cause that ending 😳😳😳 However there are some things that I didn’t like and made me think like WTF. The one being the pantry thing and her blaming it on her self 🤦🏻♀️ Like we’ve been teaching or young ladies that no means no and it’s not their faults. But then it’s written into a book as her blaming her self and Patrick did NOTHING to tell her otherwise. Up until that point I absolutely loved him and he was my newest book boyfriend, but he lost that title after. And then skip forward to the acts after the good bye party. He failed to disclose all information that could have helped. Like wtf man you are failing the women you claim to love 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Four stars non the less. Wish I could have given it a five. Spice level was maybe a 3/4 of a pepper
I truly enjoyed "Unwanted Fate." It's the story of Patrick, tortured by his unhealthy relationship with his father, who meets Emily who is grieving the loss of her twin brother. Awesome read!
I wanted to like this, but the editing ruined the book. So many wrong words, extra words, wrong tense, and repetitive wording were just too much. Honestly, if you tell me they are at a metal door, then I don't need to know in the next sentence they knock on said metal door.
Anyway, I kept hoping the story would pick up, but it plodded along until the end. Nothing wrong with Emily or Patrick. Theirs is definitely a boy meets girl, boy dates girl, and boy and girl fall in love kind of story. Simple and straight to the point. What is missing is passion.
A little excitement towards the end when the villain we saw coming a mile away shows his true colors. But even that isn't as sinister as it could have been.
This book has layers. It's not often an author can take characters and humanize them in a way that isn't cheesy or unbelievable. There are so many people out in the world that's just good to the core. Emily's character is like one of many people I know in the real world, that puts not just her time, but her heart into helping others. I do believe all the romance was second nature to finding peace of mine from the characters. Then the author sprinkles a lil suspense and an chilling conclusion.
Wow what a love story. From tragedy to finding hope to get through the day. Patrick and Emily seemed like an unexpected couple. They found something electrifying in each other's touch. I've laughed, cried, and been on the edge of my seat in suspense with this book. I LOVED it! Thank you A. Gorman for the ARC. Your books are captivating!
I really enjoyed reading this story as it goes from a young woman burying her twin soldier brother leaving her and her mother with just each other now. Then you have the unknown father (who has discovered he has kids even though one has died) who goes to talk to his ex after 25 years. The mother will have to explain and introduce everyone. You will follow their stories as they deal with finding true love, kidnapping, rescue, fame, murder attempt, almost rape, helping love ones deal with things in their past and all the while doing good works to help those that really need help. What this story doesn't have you don't even need to read about. I would love to read more of this author's work. Hope you enjoy it too.
