Well, this is definitely something I don't read everyday.

My relationship with religion is a complicated one. While I do believe in a Higher Being, I have my problems with those representing said Being here on Earth.

Back to the book, I didn't know what devotions were before Coty's book. And I think it's nice reading every devotion at the set date, not all of them at once. In a very gloomy everyday life, her nuggets might just be the thing you need.

My problem is with the author's use of Papa God. It simply feels wrong, no matter how I look at it. That and the 50 Shades of Grey references.

Stars! There's talk about Papa God in here. What have I done? I can't rant about Him, right? I need to like this, I need to like this. *fingers crossed*

You know, I really thought this was something else when I requested it on NetGalley. This isn't really my cup of tea, and now I'm very nervous. What if I don't like it?

A daily devotional that gives the reader laughter at times and discusses serious matters at times. This book for women is truly inspiring. I read through the whole thing instead of using for daily devotion time. I will refer back to this book over and over, as there are great thoughts of wisdom for the everyday woman. Sharing some of her own life experiences, the author shows that we all have the ability to find blessings in our everyday lives. The book is great to give as a gift, too. I'm 21 days in on this new devotional...

Somewhere along the way, I began to hear the phrase "Too Blessed to be Stressed". It sounded intriguing but I never really took the time to learn more about it. And then, there it was...a devotional. And might I add a really enjoyable devotional full of humor and pack with a punch, the author's words of encouragment seem to hit me right where I am. (How did she DO that anyway?)

I really wanted to love this book of devotions. I have a thing for devotion books. While I liked the devotions in here, they are really good, I just don't care for the author's constant referral to God as "Papa." I know the Bible teaches that He is our 'Abba', which is a very intimate term for Him, but I just can't make myself comfortable with the term. I mean no offense to anyone who does, but to me it's a bit impolite.

Review:

I really loved this devotional, it was full of humor, good advice and plenty of thought-provoking material. She takes inspiration from her life, her family and friends and relays that inspiration to the reader. This devotional covers a wide array of topics, from hopelessness to hope, love and family loyalties, and the beauty of the world. She is a very good story-teller and she finds humor in almost all situations.

The book has a short scripture, a story somehow related to the scripture and then a thought or prayer. All of the daily reading have a title that is also somehow related to the reading, and most of them are very clever.

I would recommend this book to any woman who wants a little spiritual pick-me-up each day. The messages are very important and it is told in a way that the reader can relate to. I am going to look for other books from this author, she is a humorous
inspirational writer.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. I would like to thank NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Debora Coty writes To Blessed to Be Stressed, a 365-day devotional, as if she were sitting down talking to God, and talking to you. Each devotion is short, sweet and to the point. They each start with a Bible verse and end with a prayer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this different and unique devotional. Miss Coty’s humor and style of writing is refreshing and delightful, full of pithy, succinct and witty observations; she can get a profound truth across in few words. She draws stories from her life and those of her friends, in addition to life lessons she has experienced and leaves you with many thought-provoking moments.

Some of her devotions will have you rolling on the floor laughing, while others will leave you in tears; however, as the tale concludes, the lesson is heard and felt on a deep level.

Miss Coty is not afraid to tackle difficult – even “off-limits” -topics. For example, she discusses gravity’s results for women, colonoscopies and her book being a “potty” book, as in being read in the bathroom. Even so, these are only small parts of the book. The other more serious topics far outweigh those of a less serious nature.

Too Blessed to Be Stressed is a book you will want to read, savor and re-read, gleaning jewels of wisdom, truth, and renewal of faith as it brings you closer in your relationship with God.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Too Blessed To Be Stressed. . .Inspiration for Every Day: 365 Devotions for Women by Debora M. Coty is a sweet little devotional book. The devotionals are short, to the point, and easy to digest. This book is perfect for women on the go, fitting easily into a purse or computer bag, and makes a thoughtful gift as well.

Each devotion features the date, a title, Bible verse of inspiration, a short story, and prayer/thought to apply to our lives on that set date. There's a ribbon bookmark bound into the book to keep ones place until the next reading. The back of the book features a scripture index that list scripture used in the devotional alphabetically by each book found in the Bible. I like that the book isn't too big. It fits nicely on my bedside table but also would be a good fit for a bathroom shelf, office desk, or in a living room dedicated space for books to be intended to read daily.

Be Still & Know
_______________________
"Be still and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10 NIV

A few years ago, I stumbled across a special spot in the woods near my mountain cabin. The minute I saw the fallen logs that formed a cozy woodland seat and back support amid the beautiful forest greenery, I knew.
This was the spot Papa God had earmarked just for me. For the time we would spend together. For the precious hours I would sit, be still, and just know (see today's verse).
Why do I need such a place? Why do you?
With our hectic schedules and crazy-busy lifestyles, sometimes it's hard to get a bead on that still, small voice of God. And that's exactly what it takes––being still––to truly know what He's whispering to our hearts.
In order to internalize the incredible goodness and Godness of our heavenly Papa, we must mute the cacophony of the world and find stillness of our bodies, minds, and emotions. Only then can our hearts ingest this truth. Only then can we really know He is God.
My special spot is off the beaten path, so it's secluded. No unexpected visitors, loud noises, or interruptions (I always turn my phone off during my Be Still & Know time). It's near the humongous tree I call the Wall of Wood that reminds me of Papa's vastness and incredible power.
A few yards away, there's a reflection pool filled with chilled mountain spring water that reflects Papa's majestic mountains and towering treetops. My soul just can't drink in enough.
Have you considered rooting out a Be Still & Know place for yourself?

Creator of the Universe,
Convict me of my need to get quiet before You.
I need to hear You, to feel You, to know You.

~*~
I typed this earlier and have no idea where I saw this nugget, but it must be in here somewhere...

key!
Half our life is spent trying to find something to do
with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.

Fantastic daily devotional for women! It is written so that the reader has one page to read a day. The short format, along with the witty remarks make this a devotional that you will want to keep up with. The format is a short verse to start, followed by a pithy vignette, and closed with a parting thought/prayer. Overall, a uplifting read.

Too Blessed to be Stressed Inspiration for Every Day is a small daily dose that challenges one to look on the brighter side of life. Written in a way that speaks directly to the reader, it's like the author becomes your best new pal who's primary goal is affirming how much our Papa God loves us! The days can be dark but this little book will get one looking to the light and finding the joy in our everyday moments.

In having a very rough year myself, this book has become a breath of fresh air to fall upon during my day. It has just enough in each devotion to put my mind in the right place in the morning. It's a simple boost of God's goodness, so to speak. I know some say they take 15 or more minutes in the morning to read and pray to start their day but some of us just don't have that amount of allotted alone time ( especially with little ones in the home).

In the introduction, the author mentions and jokes how specific titles she's written have become bathroom books and often men have picked one up to read just because it was there. With that being said, this book like those offers a practical prayer that can be applied to the lives of not just women but men too. The introduction most certainly lets you know what you are in store for when it comes to this authors writing/storytelling and sense of humor.

This has been a nice devotional to get me going each morning. I think it would make a fantastic gift for a girlfriend or family member that needs that extra boost of God's goodness throughout the day too. One of my goals for the new year was to be more joyful and not sweat the things I can't control. This book is helping me keep that mindset. I certainly do recommend it!

This is a nice hard back book containing 365 devotions for women to follow along in the year. It has daily inspiration to get us up and out of our duldrums to start the day. The back of the book essentially describes it as touching on everyday life topics with encouraging words to refresh our souls. I started my first devotion back in December, just to get a feel for the book.

What I do like about it is the hard back touch of the book, it means it can go through many days of reading without having that dog-eared appearance that many soft cover books do. Especially after multiple readings. The daily readings were fun to read.

But there were a few things that held me back from dedicating this book to being my daily reader, and that is the font size. It's super tiny. Almost like an 8pt font, which is considerably below a 9 pt that is easier to read. Then add onto the font a light purple for the body copy. The text is in a light teal green, all of the colors a play on the front of the book. And I get it, it looks great on the inside. But when it comes to reading, you need to make sure you are in a well lit area or next to sunlight to read it well. Not one to read in the early morning dusky hours.

That said, I did enjoy the days within the pages. The out packaging of the book also looks great and pulled me in. But the reading itself of the book within the pages would be the one thing that would actually keep me from purchasing this book for others.

I thought that maybe I had to request Too Blessed to be stressed....Inspiration for Every Day 365 Devotions for Women by Debora M. Coty published by Barbour Publishing this Jan .1 because it could be great for me. It promised a lot of fun passing through religion. When you think at religion you think at a serious topic.
Well, I can tell you this, women: go immediately at your local bookstore or order your copy of this book online through Amazon, because it's a real bomb of enthusiasm! Pure joy, the book is fresh, pleasant, great, plenty of good and healthy humor.
This devotional book introduces the daily problems trying to see in most cases the funny side them and in a word of life and the positive side of it thanks also to the joyous writing-style of the writer.

This book is perfect for giving new hope through a smile to everyone and for encouraging also all of us when situations can be pretty stressing. You will find many situations in the book and in each of them the approach will be light and...smiling most of the times.
I can't wait to read another book written by Debora M.Coty!

I thank NetGalley and Barbour!

Too Blessed to be Stressed is a lovely little inspirational book with short passages meant to be read every day. Starting with January 1st and going through December 31st, we have an inspirational devotional that I think reads like a continuing story. The author has an engaging way with her writing that makes you feel like you are meeting a close friend for coffee and she is sharing from her heart about life, love, family, God, etc. in little snippet stories. There is a Bible verse at the beginning of each entry and a short prayer at the end; however I would not consider this a Bible devotional, as it is written more of an inspirational piece.

The book itself is a lovely hardback with a ribbon marker. It is written mainly in purple and a soft green, both my favorite colors. The title itself is catchy and I have often thought it throughout the days when I have been stressed. This is a nice book to give as a gift to a sister, mother, daughter, best friend, or even for you.

I received a copy of this book for free from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review and all views expressed are my own. I have and will continue to enjoy using this book.

I am picky about my devotional books and require an amount of engaging content to keep me reading every day. I don’t want my devotional time wasted on foo-foo mumbo jumbo that won’t enrich me or encourage me in my walk with God. Saying that – this fit the bill perfectly! It is a very handy size to keep around and quickly pick up. A full year of daily 5-minute snippets that hit you right where it counts and requires you to look around and realized you ARE blessed. The stories are dotted with hilarious quips and nibblets of the daily humor about that which make us all humans. This author reminds us we all suffer from those “joy-sucking funks” that make us feel down and not ready to face the world. Reading this each morning has reassured me that I can and will face the day with God and no matter what comes I am blessed by Him. Perfect for any morning routine! I actually have a hard time just sticking to a day at a time reading – I want to keep going and benefit from the humor and smiles I get from the lessons of each day! Bookshelf keeper, for sure.

Coty is back with another installment in her hugely popular series, Too Blessed to be Stressed. This time, however, it is in the form of a yearly devotional. So if you are feeling a bit stressed in your day-to-day life but still want to feel God’s blessing, this is a book to check out.

Coty’s signature humor, as well as her skill for providing hope, is present in these devotionals. The author touches on topics which will be highly relatable to many readers, such as relationships, praise, love, and healing. Sitting down with a book from Coty is like having a conversation with your best girlfriend. No topic or struggle is off-limits.

Each devotion begins with a Scripture, followed by a short anecdote to encourage the reader for the day. The cover is eye-catching, and the book is the perfect size for on-the-go use. It comes with a built-in ribbon bookmark, as well.

What a sweet little devotional book (approximately 5” x 7”.) I love devotionals, especially ones that are short, to the point, and easy to digest. This book is perfect for women on the go, fitting easily into a purse or computer bag, and makes a thoughtful gift as well.

Too Blessed To Be Stressed opens with a witty, fun-to-read introduction, and gives a feel for the author’s entertaining personality. Each daily devotion includes a Scripture verse, a straightforward, thought-provoking message written in an enjoyable, conversational tone, and closes with a succinct and sincere prayer. There’s also a handy Scripture Index in the back.

I love the look, ambiance, and motivation behind this book. The perfect gift for the New Year!

I'm always on the lookout for a good devotional book for the new year, and this one is amazing. I've read a few other books by this author, and enjoy her insight and humor, so I had high hopes for this devotional. After spending time with it each morning for thirteen days now, I am not in the least disappointed.

Each day's entry is a quick read (less than five minutes), but it will leave you with things to think about for the rest of the day. Each entry has a short catchy title, a Bible verse which shares God's love for us, a short story that feels like a friendly conversation with the author, and a short one or two sentence prayer to start your daily conversation with God.

I highly recommend this to any woman of faith who is looking for a resource which will aid your walk with God.

I loved this. Each day has a sweet devotion that gives you a real boost for the day. The devotionals give a daily scripture as well as a story to uplift your spirits. It's a beautiful book, inside and out. There is a helpful scripture index at the end of the book. On the December 31st entry page, there is a really fun poem that probably describes many of us to a t! I enjoyed each day's entry and many were very meaningful to me.

It appears that there is a nice series of these type of book by this author. I would love to read them, too.

I laughed when I read Ms. Coty's forward about being a "potty" author. I have my read while waiting for my coffee to brew. Each entry is a short thought provoking gem. Some have bible verse references. I look forward to her thoughts each morning. Perfect gift for any age woman in your family or friendship circle.

Thousands of women have had the pleasure of reading the wit- and near-wisdom-filled books from beloved inspirational humorist, Debora M. Coty. Her Too Blessed to be Stressed has become a perennial favorite, selling upwards of 46,000 copies since its 2011 release. Now, ready to rescue you from the joy-sucking dully-funks, is an all-new 365-day devotional featuring just-right-sized, truth-filled readings (gift-wrapped in humor) for your heart. The Too Blessed to be Stressed daily devotional touches on everyday life topics like relationships, love, boundaries, hope, brokenness, and praise, while helping you to arrive at healing, refreshment, and revitalization of spirit, body, and faith.

I'm a devotional buff!! Seriously, on my bedside table, I've been using for 3 years Jesus Calling and it's so worn that the pages are falling out. I have to get another one. The thing I like about devotions every day is that you have a task that you have to complete daily. Scripture, devotion, and prayer to go along with it....So what didn't I like? I didn't like that all through the book she uses Papa God...I have a best friend who uses that and it's endearing but at the same time I'm old school and use Father God. For people that it doesn't bother, it won't be a big deal. For me, it just chipped at my nerves a little and then I had to do the "too blessed to be stressed!!"

Overall, this is a funny, informative, relaxing, devotional that I think women will enjoy. I would definitely buy it for my friends and family because I know that they would enjoy it and take something away from it.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.
