No memory of his past, sentenced to death for a duel gone horrid, Lochlanaire Blackheart is commanded by King William to hunt Siren Rain. She’s the illegitimate daughter of ousted King James II. In capturing his prey, Lochlanaire must retrieve the ruby signet Siren dons. That jewel is the talisman of King James II, which proves Siren’s ancestry. Lochanaire, however, is unaware that at the moment he casts sail aboard his ship, Siren’s been kidnapped by his pirate brother, Zore. Lochlanaire must battle this cutthroat for the princess, spinning Siren into his web of treachery. Afterward, they’re shipwrecked, entwined in a union of inconvenience when Lochlanaire weds Siren under the witchery of gypsies. Lochlanaire soon enlightens Siren of her true father’s identity. She seduces her captor, desperate to conceive Lochlanaire’s child. She believes he cannot surrender her to die at King William’s hangman’s noose if their blood unites. When Lochlanaire’s stalked by a ghoul slaughtering the pirates aboard his ship, he never realizes that this fiend possesses a wicked secret. Siren must unravel all the Blackheart brothers’ secluded evils and save Lochlanaire, for he threads together a travesty by which to sacrifice himself to King William, all while opposing the two seething brothers who seek his demise for the tragedies reaped in Lochlanaire’s shattered past. If Lochlanaire fails to evade the death shroud shadowing his footfalls, Siren will lose the breath-wrenching privateer who is her assassin hunter, the possessor of her lusty soul, and her only love.
If you like swashbuckling, pillaging and blood-thirsty pirate stories, then this one is for you. If you like intriguing tales of romance, where the love hate relationship is batted back and forth, then this book is for you. If you like well written and detailed works, which creative imagination then look no further. Blackheart, follows the pirate/kings assassin Lochlanaire Blackheart, from his release from the dungeons on the Kings order, to allow him to hunt down a human bounty and bring her back to England. Lochlanaire, falls in love with his bounty, Siren, and the story then sees them battle for their lives in many pirate clashes and against each other. There are some well written sex scenes with ripped bodices and heaving bosoms, as they battle for supremacy in the bedroom and in their relationship. Although the story is a bit long, I had to keep reading to fond out if they both lived HEA or if Lochlanaire managed to find a way out of his commitment to the King. I think this is a work of passion from Raelle Logan and has had a lot of hours put into the research and writing. Well done for a detailed pirate romance story.
Lochlanaire Blackheart has been taken from the gallows by King William to commission him as a Privateer for the crown to look for Siren Rain. For Lachlanaire he has no memories of his past but alongside his brother, Quartermaster Grayson Blackheart the two will rescue Siren from his other brother Zore.
As Lochlanaire and Siren begin to get closer the two must unite to escape what is against them and figure out the truth of their respective pasts. Will they be able to figure out their pasts in order to move onto a future?
I enjoyed this book but at times I found it too long and I was losing interest. That being said the author did a lot of research into the time period.
Lochlanaire has no memory of his past which gives him some difficulty with trying to figure out who is on his side and what his relationship is to everyone. Almost right away he had a pull towards Siren and was conflicted on duty and responsibility and love.
Siren had feelings for Lochlanaire and knew her signet was important. She knew family was super important but had to figure out why she was wanted due to who her father was. She knew she had to work with Lochlanaire to save herself and her sister.
There were many people against Lochlanaire and Siren and so many twists and turns that the reader is surprised with.
Title: Blackheart Author: Raelle Logan Reviewer: Lorraine Leatham - Rainey Day Book Reviews Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the story of a pirate, an assassin, a man with a black heart. Sentenced to death with no memory of his past he is brought before King William to hunt Siren Rain, the illegitimate daughter of ousted King James II. Siren holds a ruby ring that proves her ancestry. Lochlanaire battles the evils inside his soul, a lack of memory of his past as well as his present and maybe his future. Will he be willing to pay his life on the line is the question. If Lochlanaire fails to evade the death shroud that shadows his footfalls, Siren will lose her handsome pirate. The man who is also her assassin hunter, the very possessor of her soul, not to mention her love.
You will find twists and turns to this story and it will suck you in. You will find yourself asking will he or won't he? This story reminded me how much I actually enjoy this genre. Well done!
Black heart is a great historical romance read. I've read a lot of books in this genre but this one really takes you on a thrilling journey. Black heart is tasked by a ruthless king with apprehending the beautiful, young Siren Rain. She is wanted by the crown dead or alive. Failure will mean his death but when Siren is in the assassin pirate's arms, his conviction starts to slip. From one peril to the next, this story is filled with intrigue. The language and setting really keep to a historical feel and the pirate vernacular is done well without getting too far gone with the pirate stereotype. 5 star read! Would recommend to lovers of historical romance and pirate stories.
I've read lots of historical fictional before but this was my first pirate romance novel. I really enjoyed it. Raelle Logan's story isn't just a tale forbidden love with a historical setting, it's a thrilling and action packed adventure with well developed characters. It takes you on journey to the grim and ruthless world of pirates in 17th century England. I really liked main couple and the complex nature of their relationship. Things would have been easier if they stayed enemies yet they end up falling in love. Lochlanaire is the bad boy you just help but love despite his violent past. Siren proves to be as ruthless and determined as any of the pirates in this novel.
This one took me a little while to get into, but once I did I was intrigued. This is the first story I have read about pirates. Seeing it was my first I was a little hesitant to try reading it, but after reading the blurb a couple of times and then getting into the story I am glad I read it.
Blackheart has easily become a must re-read for me. I enjoyed it and definitely look forward to more from this author.
I, Amber McCarty (Imaginative Dreams), was given a copy for an honesy review.
This is a fast-paced swashbuckling adventure. If you're a grammar nazi or triggered my literary paux pas, wait on this one. There are typos, word misuses, and over usage but we've all been there. No big. I let her know and she's on it. Read it anyway! This author did a great job overall! I look forward to watching her skills evolve. You will be entertained!
I enjoyed this piece of historical fiction- a romp on the high seas. Blackheart is a wonderful character- he starts off the story with memory loss - his strong character comes quickly clear. I enjoyed the adventure told through his eyes. He must capture the well-named, gorgeous Siren Rain but he does not reckon on falling in love with her.
Swashbuckling pirates, murderous intentions on the open seas by cutthroats and ill-fated family members abound in this incredibly raw and passionate romance that never lapses in it's intensity nor in it's flowing action. Perfect execution, perfect delivery. Your gifted talent heralds every chapter, every paragraph. WOW! -To The Author- Deserving of The Top Rankings in Your Genre!
Oh wow. I'm so glad I read this book. It took me a little while to get into it. But once I did I couldn't hardly put it down. The love between a pirate and the woman he sent to hunt. I definitely recommend this book.
This book has it all! Romance, mystery, murder, crisp dialog, exciting plot, and pirates galore. It was my first time reading a book of this genre and I loved it. Anyone looking for a well written pirate adventure, look no more! Hoping there will be a sequel.
So, I was browsing around on Twitter (hey sometimes you never know what you'll find; talking dogs, dancing bears... even authors and books hahaha) I ended up meeting a new author. We chatted a little and I made her some things to help her promote and then I decided to check out her book.
I've read historical romances before. I absolutely love Ruth Ann Nordin. However, I have never read a pirate romance. It was a different experience, but not a bad one. The amount of detail and research this author must have put into getting the speech and dressing... the whole nine yards.
From page one, I felt like I was back in time. The flow was fluent, the writing easy to follow and so easy to feel part of the characters. To be honest, I wasn't fully sure what to expect.
Lochlanaire was in prison facing what he was sure was death, when an unexpected reprieve came. Not off the table completely, unless, he is to complete a mission by the King. A mission he thought would be easy enough. What he wasn't aware of was that he'd have to face Zore, his pirate brother.
I believe that he also underestimated both the way he'd feel for Siren, the woman that he was to capture (but didn't have to bring back alive) and gain the proof of her heritage or just how fiesty she'd be in his care. Fighting back when most would be timid and succumb to their fate.
The trials the pair faces on their journey to their 'ending' would have killed most romance in others, but I get the feeling we didn't really full scratch the surface of these characters.
If you want to be taken on a journey from the past and witness a love story that you'd never believe to be forged under the circumstances in which it happens. This book is definitely for you! I can't wait for the next book to get more of this family and this author.
