Picking up where the first book left off, Cate and Jason don't get much time to enjoy their newly married status between a killer on the loose and trying to free an entire race of enslaved people. And if that isn't enough to deal with, they have enemies coming out of the woodwork and council members determined to see them fail. The characters have great depth and the dialogue is witty and sometimes even a bit snarky (I love snark!) Cate's brothers, Ian and Steve, are two of my favorites in this series with their commentary and sibling banter. The story is packed full of suspense, action, intrigue, some romance, and even a bit of funny thrown in to lighten things up. The story is lengthy, so set some time aside because its extremely hard to put down. There is no lag time in this one with its battles and surprises at every turn. Several questions are answered and some problems are resolved in this one, but it does end with a cliffhanger - and it's a whopper. This series just gets better as it goes and I can't wait to see what's next for these characters.

This series is addicting. This book starts just a bit after book one. Jason and Cate are together and they are continuing Excaliber Investigations with the rest of the team. In fact, they are going to add some new members to the team. But never fear, there is still plenty going on. I love the "castle" they move into and the AI that comes with it. That first trip they took inside and tried to use magic was rather funny. Council members disappearing, Jason's looking for his dad, Cate meets a long-lost great aunt, and not every one wants her to remain Grand Mistress. But our Cate is a fighter and she won't go down easily. She and Jason need to work on their definition of sharing, partner, and no more secrets. She also gets to meet her insane, racist grandfather. Cate, Jason, and the team need to find out who's killing council members before it's too late. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Denai Bound by Tiffany Shand

Genre: Urban Fantasy

About the book: Cate is now married to Jason but the honeymoon is over. Those they trusted are now against them. Now in a new environment, things are about tonget crazy again.

Review: I did read the first book in the series. You could read this novel without the first as it provides enough information. The story seemed to go down one path and then turn onto another. It kept me reading and I was disappointed to be at the end. The writing is vivid and make you feel a part of the story's world. I would love to read the final book.

Denai witch Cate and her Elemental husband Jason should be enjoying newlywed blues after all the trouble they went through in book 1 of this series, the excellent Denai Touch, but c'mon that wouldn't make for a fun story at all. Don't worry, Tiffany Shand has not let her readers down. This book 2 if anything raises the bar. So we are given with an action filled thrilling plot as our leading couple take on everything that hits them, be it a powerful killer on the loose and a race of enslaved people to free. Handle it they will, with style to spare.

Most definitely recommended, but with one caveat: there is a heck of a cliffhanger here so be warned.

Seeing Cate and her family learn more about their magic while they attempt to overcome their enemies keeps me turning pages as fast as I can. There's so much to this world and the addition of everyday familiar bickering and events to the magical aspects keeps it lighthearted and relatable enough to not overwhelm. Honestly the only thing that keeps this from being a 5 star read for me is the characters' maturity levels don't match their ages. Many of them are hundreds if not thousands of years old but still act like teenagers.

This ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and I'm excited to see what happens in book 3.

An action-packed second book in the fantasy/mystery series, this one focused less on Cate and Jason and brought in more of the peripheral characters. It also finished nicely on a cliffhanger. There were quite a few noticeable spelling errors which affected the reading experience at times.

I received an ARC of the boxset from the author, via Instafreebie, and I am voluntarily giving an honest review.

Cate and Jason are finally together and as soul bound they are stronger as they can call on each other’s powers. This leads to many ups and downs with lots of twists and turns you won’t see coming.
I can’t wait for the next book.

I am personally so happy for the fact that the main character Cate is so strong mentally but also physically, to me this is such an important aspect. Cate has an unwavering strongness which makes me love Cate just that much more.

The history of Denai is remarkably well put together enriching the story but also empowering the sense of reality in Denai Bound. The second book has a smooth transition from the first book not straying or confusing me even with the time gap of reading both books which made the reading process even more enjoyable.

In Denai Bound I am indulged by all the questions Denai Touch left me clutching waiting for answers that I had been left wanting to know.

For Cate this is one of the most hardest times, having to come to terms with the situation at hand Cate has to become the Grand Mistress. Luckily Cate's mum steps in as a temporary Grand Mistress to relieve the stress.

As well as taking on such a massive amount of responsibility Cate has to deal with the emotional roller-coaster that is marriage which is a difficult aspect for Cate as in the past she has hated the idea of a relationship let alone marriage.

Strange events unfold as more and more of the coverns council dissapear one after another making the covern not trust Cate and feel she is to young and unreliable for such a thing as Grand Mistress. Can Cate and the team solve this mystery before it's to late?.

I loved reading Denai Bound Just as much as I loved Denai Touch, I really appreciated the fact that Denai Bound was just as exciting and thrilling as Denai Touch and is a brilliant second book to lead on with.

Denai Bound I thought was just as good as the first novel in this series.
The way Shand writes in the paranormal sense is incredible and draws you into the story and into a world I could only wish to experience!
I was pulled into the story almost immediately; there was a seamless flow from the first book to the second that didn't have me asking questions or confused about what may have happened in between. I love romance but I also love paranormal in all genres and I thought there was a nice balance between the two in this book.
I always love how strong Cate is and the relationship between her and Jason. A strong female lead is the be all end all for me and this story had a strong heroin to lead it. I enjoyed getting to know some of the other characters like Jade, Steve and Ian and read how their relationships were starting to build along with how Cate was learning to manage all of the power, both magic and responsibility with her title of GM and Enforcer. I also really liked the the progression of the enemy in this story (not to name names and give anything away!) however I found my emotions evoked with each encounter. Shand did a wonderful job with the mystery behind the evil in this story and really had me guessing as to who could possibly be behind chaos.
Overall I really enjoyed this story - if you're looking for a magical, suspenseful, romantical, summer read - Denai Bound is the one for you.
*I would definitely recommend that you read Denai Touch (the first in the series) first*

The second book in the Excalibur Investigations Series brings us back into the world of Cate and Jason and their team of justice fighters.  Someone is killing Council members and Jason and Cate have to find the murderer. While doing that they are also planning a wedding, continuing to learn how to work together as true partners, dealing with being the Grand Mistress and Grand Master, and finally trying to save and set free the Nuardians. With all of that you would think that the plot is jam-packed, and you would be right, a lot is going on, which keeps the story moving along, but I found parts of the plot slow. There wasn't a lot of passionate scenes and the one they did have wasn't described in detail. The plot line was good. The conflict and villains were good. You don't know who the murderer is until the author wants you to know, which makes for a good read, it isn't predictable. There wasn't much emotional turmoil or strife between the love interests; there was potential, but it ended up falling flat. I wish it had been more of a page turner. I can't put my finger on what exactly made it slow. The writing was good, there were no gaps or confusions in information. The author from page one to the last page does keep a clear vision of what her story is going to be. There was a lot of action, but I did want more passion!

Denai Bound by Tiffany Shand

Cate McCray is a Denai Witch. She is newly married to her Elemental husband Jason. They move to a new city and are thrown into a dangerous situation. Soon Cate and Jason are up against those who were once allies. Together they must face their enemies, ancient magic and fight their enemies.

A great fantasy with an original plot. There is actions, danger, intense drama and suspense. The characters are well developed, Cate and Jason are very likable. Overall I found Denai Bound an enjoyable read and feel those who love a great fantasy will enjoy it as well.
