When the Teludazi attack Captain Evander Starr’s squadron, he is the only survivor. Taken prisoner, he refuses to answer their questions. Nonetheless, he find himself drawn to their leader, Kaname. What secrets lie behind Kaname’s strange lilac eyes, and will Evander soon find it’s not only his body held captive, but also his heart?
This was a sweet little story. Despite its short length, I thought the world development was done well. I could have used more of it, but for the length I thought it was enough to understand this place we were in. I liked the relationship and the reveal about the war.
My only criticism would be I think there was a bit too much tell rather than show in the beginning. I wanted to see more about how they got closer to each other rather than saying they started to desire each other as time moved on. I wanted to SEE that develop.
Thankfully the rest of their getting together was shown and done well (which is another reason I wanted to see the other stuff cause I think the author would have done it well). And no sex! Yes! I know some M/M readers might be disappointed by that and others might be going "Why are you so happy about that?" Because sex has a time and place and if it doesn't forward the plot or doesn't belong then I don't want it. As short as this is, had there been sex I would have been very disappointed. Again, nice, SWEET story.
All and all, 2.5 stars for me. (Note this story is available in the Theory of Love Anthology or on it's own.)
