Every student at Shame U has their secrets, and Henley Brooks is no exception. Struggling to pay for college and maintain her perfect reputation has become overwhelming. When her friend Gigi Oxford offers her a night of carefree fun, she can’t pass up the opportunity to unwind.

After a night of drinking turns to chaos, Henley finds herself alone with Lucas Young, a student from London who has come to America to unravel a few secrets of his own, as well as break a few hearts.

Covered in tattoos and drowning in liquor, Lucas was everything Henley should avoid but couldn’t resist. She soon begins to fall for him like the many women before her. But after stumbling across something he didn’t want her to see, she learns that Lucas may not be who she thinks he is.

Henley and Gigi devise a plan to teach Lucas a lesson, but it isn’t long before Henley learns that no one at Shamus Thornton College can be trusted.

When everything begins to feel like it is falling apart, there is only one person Henley wants to pick up the pieces, even if he is the person who caused her to crumble.

I decided it was time to start reading the books I've had on my Kindle for ages but never seem to get around to reading. Unfortunately, this was not the best choice to start my new challenge. It's been years since I've read a book so poorly edited or written.

SHAMELESS: This is spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ Henley & Lucas. I'll try and make this as spoiler free as I possibly can.

Henley Brooks is a struggling eighteen year old student attending Shamus Thornton College trying to keep her head above water and keep up with her work load doesn’t leave much time for fun.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Before College is over, we need to get you a life. You’re missing out on the best parts. After school, it’s nothing but bills and disappointment. ~ Gigi

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Henley’s life had been mapped out in her head since the age of twelve, meet the man of her dreams, 2 children and a life without struggle, she didn't want the life she'd witnessed her mother go through many a time, an absentee father and a mother who suffered depression had Henley growing up quicker and taking on her mother's responsibilities had her losing pieces of herself along the way.

Getting roped into a night on the town by her best friend Gigi, who were as different as light and day, was more than what she bargained for when she finds herself alone with the tatted up bad boy on campus, Lucas.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I’m wearing my heart on my sleeve. Everything anyone wants to know about me is right in front of their faces. Most just don’t bother to look. ~ Lucas

She knows deep down that she should keep away from him, but every so often he seems to be wherever she is and they just can't seem to stay away from each other even though together they are toxic with their lies and game playing.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lucas and Henley come from such two different worlds, he looks like a criminal and she acts like a nerdy librarian but their personalities just click, but when their timing if off they are like a bomb ready to detonate which not only destroys them but others around them too.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic He was a heartbreak waiting to happen, and I refused to be his next victim.

In this intricate tale of deceit, lies, betrayal and more bad decisions than I could count, the author captures the true essence of campus life perfectly. The whiplash of a ping pong ball game of does he like me, does she like me, are we more than friends, etc had me glued to my ipad throughout, and even though was frustrating at times was perfect for this genre and age of the characters.

Ugh, I hate it when the cover models don't match the descriptions of the characters in the book. At first glance, the male cover model looks good, but if you really look, the guy is kind of scrawny with an oversized head! That is NOT how I pictured Collin at all! Come on, he could walk into any bar and girls would practically throw themselves at him. He was a bad boy with tattoos covering his arms (cover model does not have those either), a sexy smile and striking green eyes, who threw punches every time he was mad. This cover model just does not fit the bill. No sir.

OK, so this was kind of a shorter version of Beautiful Disaster. A little less extreme, but the similarities were so great that I even pictured some of the locations the same, like the inside of his apartment, I pictured it too look just like I pictured Travis'. Collin is a womanizer, different girl every night, just like Travis. Sinthia and Collin sleep together platonically as friends just like Travis and Abby. Collin is pretty possessive of Sin and defends her with his fists even when she doesn't need defending. Sound familiar? There are more things like that, but I'm not going to go on and on because the thing is, I loved Beautiful Disaster, which means this book was right up my alley. I still really enjoyed it despite the similarities.

I did think that Sin's best friend Taylor sort of sucked as a best friend. When Sin left because she was heartbroken over Collin, Taylor should have been there for her. But she stayed with Collin and his friends and sort of drifted away from her friendship with Sin. She even encouraged Collin to go out with some other girl. But when Sin sees this other girl Taylor acts like it pains her to see him with her. I don't get it. If Taylor wanted to help, why the heck didn't she tell Collin get his act together and quit messing with every girl that shows him a little bit of interest. He didn't think he was good enough for her, well he didn't act good enough for her. If he was so in love with Sin, then he should have kicked his man whoring ways to the curb and started BEING the man for her. Thats what I think anyway. That part of the story kind of ticked me off.

Also, I wish there was a little more to the ending. I would have liked to bask in their unity and happiness a little longer. I waited the whole book for them to get past the "friends" stage. I wanted to read some more words from the heart before it all ended. Same with the epilogue, I probably would have felt more satisfied with the ending if the epilogue was a little longer. Or maybe what I wanted was for there to be a scene where Collin turned away the ever present girl that was always at his side. I think that would have been a pretty important part of the story, for him to publicly choose Sin. Let everyone know he was unavailable. I think that was needed.

But all in all, I still liked it a lot. I loved Collin's immediate attraction to Sin. For example, how he would watch her and flirt with her from across the bar like she was the only girl in the room when in reality there was a girl hanging all over him. Most of the time his arms were around the girl too. He was physically with another girl, but mentally he was always with Sin, watching her, wanting her and defending her. It was hott!

ARC kindly provided by author for my honest review.
4.5 stars!

Shameless is my first book by Teresa Mummert and I am really glad I discovered her work.
My next assignment is to read more of her works because she is one hell of a writer.
This is book one in the series, but you can read it a standalone.
There is no cliffhanger! Big plus from my side, as I hate those...

If you are into angsty, opposites attract romance, you will love this.
Plus, main hero Lucas is British! Hot damn!
I kept imagining his British accent in my head while reading... and check out the visual: tattoos, muscles, handsome... you want me to keep going? I was hooked from the start!

Henley and Lucas truly are polar opposites.
While she is a quiet, hard working college student who rarely dates or goes out, and he is a definitive bad boy.
He's independent and does what he wants... when he wants it. Classical womanizer.
Even though Henley knew she should steer clear from him, he was like a magnet... and they kept bumping into each other.
I have to give Henley some credit, cause' at times she really was a kick ass heroine I usually love in my books. They were like two pieces of the puzzle.
Somehow, they fit together, despite their differences.
Their relationship was intertwined with lies, secrets and betrayal and at some point, I was not sure how this book will end... I won't reveal anything else, because I try to avoid any spoilers.

I can't wait for the second book in the series!

Bugie, segreti e tanto tormento!

*ARC gentilmente offerta dall'autrice. Thank you!*

«Perché ti nascondi dietro tutti quei tatuaggi, comunque?»

Brava, Teresa :D

Sei la verità che stavo cercando.

Henley has recently started college at Shamus University and for the most part she is a very focused, hard working student. Her best friend Gigi is determined to change that behaviour by getting her to socialize more and not to be so uptight, combine that with alcohol and Henley begins to loosen up a bit.

Then she meets Lucas, a tatted up bad boy with a reputation. He is the sort of guy she needs to turn and run far away from but there is something about him that intrigues her. They form an unlikely friendship and despite the fact that they come from very different worlds, they just seem to click.
There is something about Henley that has Lucas wanting to know more about her, when he isn't hanging out with her he is thinking about her - all the time.

'She was like a puzzle with all the pieces painted black, impossible to figure out.'

Henley knows that Lucas is a player, she has witnessed it herself and after she believes he has played her she sets out to get her own revenge on him. Not the sort of thing she would usually do but she has changed a lot over the past few months and she needs to give him a taste of his own medicine.

However, things aren't always what they seem to be. There are parts about Lucas' life that he hasn't shared with Henley and assumptions can lead people down a complicated path.

'You're all impulse and no consequences. Do you even think about how your actions make other people feel?'

There was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing between this couple, it was obvious that they wanted each other but it was back and forth a lot, so plenty of angst to keep me turning the pages as fast as I could. There were also plenty of swoon worthy moments - Lucas was a very likeable guy. A classic young adult college story.

Loved loved this perfect story about a bad boy meets good girl. The dynamics between the characters were supurb! I so loved how Sin was the wingman to a group of awesome fun loving guys and a witty girlfriend Taylor. I couldn't get enough of Sin and Collins friendship and the undeniable attraction/effection that they had for one another. As much as I wanted to give this 5 stars I wished it was longer and that the 5 years later gave me more more more. Ok I'm just being selfish this book was wonderful just the way it was! You have my vote Mrs. Mummert for a sequel so please feel free to write away!

İlk defa bir kitap için böyle bir şey söyleyeceğim:

Eğer birisi bok yese ve sonra da onu kussa, ortaya çıkardığı o iğrenç şey bile bu kitabın yanında prenses tacı gibi kalırdı.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Teresa Mummert.

You guys...this book gave me the book hangover of all hangovers. It is every new adult and romance readers dream come true! Mrs Mummert did an excellent job of capturing the college scene. So much so that it made me miss my college days! The angst, the secrets, the back and forth...it kept me glued to my kindle from start to finish.

Henley is a good girl, studious, and hard working. She spends her free time buried in the books and rarely, if ever, goes out and enjoys herself. She saves every penny to help her mother back home and is determined to get an education a become an independent woman. When her best friend Gigi convinces Henley she needs to let loose one night and enjoy herself, she had no idea that night would change everything.

Enter Lucas, the quintessential bad boy: tall, handsome, muscular, tattooed. And let's not forget that accent. I swooned every time he referred to Henley as love. People are quick to judge Lucas based on how he looks but we all know not to judge a book by its cover. I loved how he was with Henley. The sexual tension was off the charts.

Their relationship was so back and forth. Toxic one moment and swoonworthy the next. Does he really like me? Does she really like me? Who was playing games with who? Whose secrets would come out first? The angst just rolled off of the pages. I really couldn't put it down. I wanted so badly for them to find their HEA. Shameless was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, deceptions, assumptions that sent my heart rate soaring.

Shameless is book 1 in the series but it can be read as a standalone with a HEA. With secondary characters as animated as Gigi and as brooding as Beef, I am very much looking forward to the second book and will be counting down the days.

Read this after finishing the 'Honor' series, not knowing what to expect.
Now I know.
The book had potential but the plot was absent, no development characters.
I loved 'Beautiful Disaster' and I felt like I was reading the half assed rewrite. It was weird at times reading a book where everyone spoke in full sentences without a single contraction. "I would like to" "Where is the.." Ugh. The sentences ramble in awkward arrangements that forced me to re-read often.
The main group of characters go out every night to get wasted and find a hook up partner, while poor little "Sin" is a virgin, shocking all her friends. She falls for Collin after he beats some guy silly for accidentally bumping into her. Then they are suddenly in love after they sleep in the same bed for months (of course, never having sex or even a make-out scene). The story ending is just - frustrating. The cover made me perceive that this was going to be sexy.
Nope. Just a lot of bullheadedness.
Honestly, the only two scenes I loved about this book was when -
Collin quoted 'The Lion King'.
Collin kicked drunken dude's ass.
I would say Collin is the reason I kept reading except, I slowly started hating his character the more he would not fix things between them and just grab another chick.
Loved the humor through out this book, as well as some of the emotions you can relate to. So I had to atleast give it 3 ☆ 's.

Review by Jen Skewes

I finished this book a few days ago but needed some time to write the review. And it wasn’t because I didn’t enjoy this book because I most certainly did. But I needed to figure out how to write this review without giving anything away. And at the same time find the right words to explain how much this book toyed with my emotions. This is one of those books where you are not sure who to trust, who is telling the truth and who is playing the game. How much of it was real and how much of it was all part of the plan. At times I felt like I got whiplash from the back and forth with these characters. But that is what I loved about it, the back and forth between the two main characters, the lies, the secrets, the truths, and the angst that went along with it all.

Henley is a shy girl whose home life is in a bit of shambles at the moment. But she is the smart nerdy type who would rather stay in and study then go to a party and meet boys and make new friends. When her best friend Gigi convinces her to take a break form studying to go out and have a good time she finally gives in. She meets Lucas in the elevator of her dorm and there is something about him but she ignores it and moves on. Until she meets him again when she is out partying with her friend. She knows that she should stay away from him, but they always seem to find themselves at the same place at the same time. And staying away is not as easy as it seems. Especially when you are atalking about Lucas.

Lucas is from London and is here in the States for a reason, which at some point in the book you do see what that reason is. He is the sexy, tattooed bad boy that has had his fair share of woman. But when he meets Henley there is something about her and he finds himself wanting her. He has a reputation with the ladies, which is one of the reasons why Henley should stay away. When Lucas seems to prove to be the person she thought he was, her and Gigi decide to teach him a lesson, giving him a taste of his own medicine so to speak. But things start to get out of control, feelings get involved and in the end someone will get hurt.

Shameless was filled with drama and angst and at times I was so unsure as to who was playing the game and who wasn’t. Honestly the entire time that Henley was supposed to be teaching Lucas a lesson I felt her falling deeper and deeper for him. I completely understood why, because he was hard not to fall for. Now in my opinion, Lucas was nothing like the guy she thought or expected him to be. He made mistakes just like anyone else but I think deep down he was a really good guy. He had feelings for Henley but knowing that at some point he was going back home, he was afraid to start anything with Henley.

As the reader I think you can see and understand Lucas in a way that Henley didn’t which was mainly due to lack of communication. These two knew how to push each other’s buttons. Their moments together were intense at times and filled with too many emotions for them to even think clearly. And that is where the back and forth came it. Does she like me? Does he like me? Do I have feelings for him? You get the picture. This is also what made this book so good. It gave the reader just the right amount of angst and drama to keep us on the edge of our seat. Not knowing how this story would end up and again who can you really trust. There were some truths and surprises revealed that will surprise you. And when they come out it all makes so much more sense.

I loved Henley and Lucas together and at times just wanted to smack them both, put them in a room alone until they both figured it all out. I wanted to see them admit their feelings and be together. I loved the emotions this book brought out and the angst fest that it was. It truly made you think about what was rally going on and how these characters felt. While this book did not end with a cliffhanger there will be a second book which I cannot wait for. I feel like there is so much more story to tell.

I was beyond thrilled and truly honored when I was given the option to review Teresa’s newest book, Shameless. For anyone that has not read Teresa Mummert – you are missing out on ALOT!!

Shameless is told in dual POVs – Lucas and Henley. They are both attending, Shamus Thorton College (Shame U). Henley is more the quiet, mousey type – sticking to her school work and not out partying it up and enjoying college life. Lucas moved to the states from London for his own reasons. He’s her total opposite – tatted up bad boy.

“Sometimes you lies are as simple as a smile.”

On one particular night, Henley’s best friend, Gigi, is able to convince her to go to a party. A party where she ends up alone with Lucas. And so beings their tale of lies, deceit and betrayal but neither can walk away.

Teresa writes some of the most intricate and descriptive books. I love how she is able to bring her words to life and make them feel like a movie playing out before you. And Shameless has no shortage of this. Teresa puts you through a rollercoaster of emotions and does let up on the angst at any point.

“He was a heartbreak waiting to happen, and I refused to be his next victim.”

Teresa has created another fabulous series with characters that will leave you wanting more. Shameless can be read as a standalone. However, I am looking forward to reading more about Henley and Lucas along with the rest of the cast. I can’t wait to see where Teresa takes us next!

Ugh... this book is overly dramatic and mysterious for no reason. It takes FOREVER to get through- constant back and forth between the H and h for pettiness. The resolution happens literally on the last couple of pages. No epilogue and lots of "loose ends" (which I am assuming is supposed to lead up to the other books in the series). It seemed like there were lots of plot lines that went no where...
- Noah had a crush on Lucas- and got caught with Henley's roommate's BF
- Henley and her dad
- Henley and her mom
- Lucas and his dad- what did his dad want him to know? How did he get ownership of the Swank?
- Beef and Lucas- wtf?
- Payton and Beef
- Gigi and Henley- that was fucked up and resolved WAY too quickly.

Literally this story was pages and pages of drama all resolved within a few paragraphs on the last pages in the book. Add in an annoying, wishy washy heroine and that leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I will not be reading the next ones in the series thats for sure. I can already tell they will be a whole lot of drama without a lot of substance. I'm over this drama for the sake of drama writing.

I had a hard time putting this book down to go about my normal life. It called to me like a siren's song, "Read me, read me..." I received this ARC for an honest review and I honestly loved it! I did feel like it was a new direction, or just a step away from what this author normally writes; however, that made it more interesting. The dynamics between the characters were amazing. I felt the push and pull, the yearning, and the heartbreak flowing off the pages! For me the college setting added to the dynamic. Anyone who has been away to college knows that it is just a petri dish of clashing personalities and I feel that was well portrayed. All the archetypes were there: campus slut, jock, guy in the closet, girl hiding from her past, friends who aren't really your friends, the player, and even the smart ass philosophy professor who knows more than everyone. There were multiple locations as well as dual POV, both of which can cause confusion for readers, but Teresa Mummert pulled it off beautifully. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the NA genre.

***ARC Provided By Author In Exchange for Honest Review***

I am beyond excited that I got to read Teresa Mummert’s newest novel, ‘Shameless’. I have always liked Teresa’s books and when I saw the blurb for this on when it was first announced, I knew I needed to read this! Teresa has an awesome ability to really suck you into her characters. She is so descriptive and gives them the best personalities. She definitely did not disappoint with all of her characters within this book, especially the main characters Henley and Lucas!

Henley is attending Shamus Thornton College, or Shame U for short, and is the quiet girl who is just looking to get through school. She has one best friend, Gigi, and never really goes out to party or anything because she would rather stay in by herself. She loves to play the violin, but that dream ended when unforeseen circumstances with her family life happened and she had to sell the violin for money. With her family life slowly crumbling and just trying to make sure she can stay in school, she never expects to meet anyone, especially not the bad boy stranger who she runs into in the dorm elevator. Little does she know that since this bad boy first saw her on that elevator, he has his sights set on her.

Lucas Young is a student as well at Shame U and is from London. He came to the states for a particular reason and of course you will find that out about ½ way into the book. He is a tatted up bad boy that many of the girls want to be with, but he suddenly has his eye on Henley after running into her in her dorm elevator and she lies for him since he was being chased by campus security. He has had his share of fun times with many girls, which many of them still get him in plenty of trouble throughout the story, but he wants to be able to find “the right one”. Plans to go back to London after school ends kind of puts a damper on those plans, but fate has a way of working its magic.

Lucas was one of the funniest male characters I have ever come across in many of the books I have read. While reading his parts and the words he would say, I could totally picture his accent and it made me laugh at a lot of the things he said just imagining how they sounded. He is very outspoken and goes for what he wants. Henley is so shy that it makes it all the better when reading all of their interactions. He loves to make her blush, and that seems to be about every time he talks to her. The chemistry between the two is explosive and believe me, it explodes quite a few times.

This book is long, but I will be honest in saying I hardly noticed because I actually read it within one day. I didn’t want to put it down, I loved the characters that much. There was a little bit of indecisiveness that drove me a little batty but everything else made up for it. Henley is one of those characters that has issues with making up her mind and they went back and forth so much that eventually I wanted to smack some sense into her. I looked at it as lessons learned though!

4.5 stars from me! I can’t wait since there will be more to this series, even though this can be read a standalone!

I feel like I say this a lot but Wow. I haven't read a Teresa Mummert book in a while but omg.. Seriously there were moments when my heart was pumping or my eyes tearing up or both at the same time. This was an amazing book about a girl that feels broken and a boy that looks like he should be. This is not a wham bam thank you ma'am type book either, meaning there isn't a bunch of sex or much of any physical intimacy. Don't let that stop you though because this book will make you feel so much anyway. Ok enough babbling.. lol

Henley was hilarious and a pain in the rear.. I loved her sassy mouth and her quick wittedness.. This can stop you in your tracks or make you laugh out loud but ugh she will irritated the $hit out of you too. Between her indecisiveness to her easy to easy to cry she made want to shake her but then she makes up for it with her sassy mouth. Although she is going through so much in the background she doesn't let it show.

Lucas is a man of many faces, the scottish guy covered in tattoos, he's the good brother, the manhore, the fighter, and the softee. Lucas is such a awesome dude because he likes to have a good time but will stand up for you if you need it. It made me sad for him though because everyone expected him to be a certain way but then turned out he wasn't like that at all. I loved his character because is a bit like me. I may look one way but their assumptions weren't always right but Lucas just took in stride and didn't let others opinion bother him

I thought through the whole book that there was gonna be a cliffhanger but thankfully not!! You will not be disappointed by this book at all and yearn for the next as much as I do.. lol Awesome job yet again Teresa!!!

Shameless is the first book i’ve read by Teresa Mummert in a while and I wasn’t disappointed. This story was completely different to anything i’ve ever read.

Lucas and Henley are the total opposite. They both come from opposite worlds which makes it seem like they could never work together. Henley looks like a nerdy librarian meanwhile Lucas looks like a criminal. Even though they don’t seem like they’ll fit together, the saying opposites attract is what comes to play here. Lucas and Henley’s personalities are the perfect fit for each other. However their timing is the one thing that isn’t working and it might be the reason they fall apart. he back and forth between Lucas and Henley had me flipping the pages quickly and not wanting to close the book to do anything else. I got frustrated with the characters at times where I just wanted things to get better for them but that didn’t stop me from continuing to read on.

Their story is filled with lies, betrayal and more bad decisions that create a perfect amount of drama. This story was a rollercoaster ride that at times makes you question everything you thought you knew.

I would recommend this book if you like reading books that are full of angst, that keep you on your toes and have you questioning everything. The game the characters play with each other, the lies, deceit and betrayal have you wondering if there really is going to be a HEA for Lucas and Henley or if they crash and burn.

Henley could just tell from her one chance meeting with the college bad boy, he was nothing but a butthole. But then she kept running into him and she could tell he was attracted to her, only relationships was not something she did. Lucas knew he needed Henley, he was so attracted to her he just knew he had to find a way to make her his. Henley and her friend had other plans, they were going to make him feel how he made all the girls around school feel. Only Henley wasn't prepared for the attraction and friendship she felt towards Lucas. Would they break each other apart before they are able to explore their feelings? Make sure to read Shameless, by Teresa Mummert to find out! This is book one in her Shame on You Series and I for one am super excited to keep reading on.

Seriously? I "feel" the need to roll my eyes and if you read at least the first few pages of the book you'll see that author's repetitive use of this expression will do that to you.

Taylor - supposedly the best friend or Sinthya's good friend. Yeah, right! NO, thanks! The definition of friend got lost...somewhere...I guess that a nice trait couldn't fit with these characters.

Sinthya - doesn't seem to have any will of her own. She isn't likable. She's like a puppet.

Colin - is just there - trying to fill the macho spot and failing with honors!

Conclusion - I deleted the book and never looked back!

The book is short but it's very goodI wouldn't mind if it had 40 or so pages more but even with 128 pages the book was amazing.

Sinthia(or Sin as Collin calls her)is in college and meets a guy whose name is Collin.Collin isn't the kind of guy she is looking for but as the time passes they become friends(until she realises that she has more than friendly feelings for him). She starts hanging out with him and his roommates and friends and becomes their wingman. But what happens when she can't handle her feelings for him?Read the book to learn.

The plot is like a story I would have write(so you understand why I liked it,if I could write which I can't but a girl could dream). It's like the author got into my head and wrotte the story(even though I would have made some things different but it's not my book so I can't say anything). The book didn't bore me(not even a little)and I would like to think it's because of the authors talent and not the small number of pages
The way Collin reacts when another guy is around Sin shows what he feels for her without saying a word and made me wonder why Sin didn't realised it herself.Sin was acting like I expected her to do but I'm still wondering how she ended up with John.

The epilogue was too short for my liking but it was enough to give me a sight of what happens 5 years later and how Sin's life is.My only complain about the epilogue is that I didn't saw what happen to the lifes of the other members of the gang.I liked the characters even the minor ones with the exception of John(I'm still wondering what Sin saw in him).
